Abstract

The Beijing Spectrometer III (BESIII) endcap Time-Of-Filght (ETOF) was proposed to upgrade with Multigap Resistive Plate Chamber (MRPC) technology to substitute the current ETOF of scintillator+PMT for extending time resolutin better than 80 ps and enhance the particle identification capability to satisfy the higher precision requirement of physics. The ETOF system including MRPC modules, front end electronics (FEE), CLOCK module, fast control boards and time to digital modules (TDIG), has been designed, constructed and done some experimental tests seperately. Aiming at examining the quality of entire ETOF system and training the operation of all participated parts, a cosmic ray test system was built at the laboratory and underwent about three months to guarantee performance. Abstract

In order to improve the particle identification capability of the Beijing Spectrometer III (BESIII),t is proposed to upgrade the current endcap time-of-flight (ETOF) detector with multi-gap resistive plate chamber (MRPC) technology. Aiming at extending ETOF overall time resolution better than 100ps, the whole system including MRPC detectors, new-designed Front End Electronics (FEE), CLOCK module, fast control boards and time to digital modules (TDIG), was built up and operated online 3 months under the cosmic ray. The main purposes of cosmic ray test are checking the detectors' construction quality, testing the joint operation of all instruments and guaranteeing the performance of the system. The results imply MRPC time resolution better than 100$ps$, efficiency is about 98$\%$ and the noise rate of strip is lower than 1$Hz/$($scm^{2}$) at normal threshold range, the details are discussed and analyzed specifically in this paper. The test indicates that the whole ETOF system would work well and satisfy the requirements of upgrade.

Abstract

The intensive cluster fracturing technology is widely applied in deep shale reservoirs. However, field data show that the fracture initiation time and propagation length of each cluster are different, which causes significant non-uniformity and affects the fracturing results. In this paper, a hydraulic fracture asynchronous initiation and propagation model for deep shale gas is established based on mechanics theory, which can consider the influence of in-situ stress variation and stress interference effect on the fracture asynchronous initiation and propagation behavior. According to the model design parameters, deep shale hydraulic fractures are regulated and optimized in combination with the non-uniform flow-limiting perforation technology to achieve uniform fracture propagation. The results show that, the non-uniformity of each fracture is obvious using conventional uniform perforation. However, with non-uniform perforation, each cluster perforation number is adjusted, the difference of initiation time and each fracture propagation velocity is significantly reduced, and the length of all fractures tend to be basically the same. And the field monitoring data are in good agreement with the calculation results, which verifies the reliability of the model. This study can reduce design blindness of non-uniform flow-limiting perforation technique, and has an important theoretical guidance for the optimal design of fracturing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

63. The Inversion Method of Shale Gas Effective Fracture Network Volume Based on Flow Back Data—A Case Study of Southern Sichuan Basin Shale.

Abstract

Fracture network fracturing is pivotal for achieving the economical and efficient development of shale gas, with the connectivity among fracture networks playing a crucial role in reservoir stimulation effectiveness. However, flow back data that reflect fracture network connectivity information are often ignored, resulting in an inaccurate prediction of the effective fracture network volume (EFNV). The accurate calculation of the EFNV has become a key and difficult issue in the field of shale fracturing. For this reason, the accurate shale gas effective fracture network volume inversion method needs to be improved. Based on the flow back characteristics of fracturing fluids, a tree-shaped fractal fracture flow back mathematical model for inversion of EFNV was established and combined with fractal theory. A genetic algorithm workflow suitable for EFNV inversion of shale gas was constructed based on the flow back data after fracturing, and the fracture wells in southern Sichuan were used as an example to carry out the EFNV inversion. The reliability of the inversion model was verified by testing production, cumulative gas production, and microseismic results. The field application showed that the inversion method proposed in this paper can obtain tree-shaped fractal fracture network structure parameters, fracture system original pressure, matrix gas breakthrough pressure, fracture compressibility coefficient, reverse imbibition index, equivalent main fracture half length, and effective initial fracture volume (EIFV). The calculated results of the model belong to the same order of magnitude as those of the HD model and Alkouh model, and the model has stronger applicability.
