The present study aimed to examine the relationship between religious spiritual well-being and death anxiety among Iranian elders. Subjects were 146 volunteer elders. They were selected by a convenient sampling. Instruments were Multidimensional Inventory of Religious Spiritual Well-Being (MI RSWB 48) the Arabic Scale of Death Anxiety (ASDA) factors. On the MI RSWB 48 and the ASDA, there were no significant association between religious spiritual well-being and death anxiety total scores. There were significant association between Hope Transcendent (HT), and Experiences of Sense and Meaning (SM) subscales of MI RSWB 48. Limitations of the present study were using of self-report scales, selectin of anold-age sample, a Muslim reliogion and an Iranian culture. Present results can be considered in the religious spiritual oriented interventions for reducing of death anxiety for elders in Muslim countries.

Din anlayışının üretim ve aktarımında dini otoritelerin önemli bir etkisi vardır.Özellikle geleneksel halk dindarlığının şekillenmesinde, başka birçok faktörlebirlikte dini tutum, yorum ve davranışları ağırlıklı bir role sahiptir. Toplumsalyapı ve değişme dinamikleri din anlayışlarını da etkiler. Toplumun değerlerindeve pratik uygulamalarında meydana gelen hızlı değişmeler şeklinde ortayaçıkmakta olan düşünsel ve maddi modernleşme süreçleri, dini otoritelerin zihniyetyapılarının değişmesi üzerinde çeşitli düzeylerde baskıda bulunmaktadır. Bubağlamda dini otoritelerin, dinin temel kaynaklarını, değişim ve muhafazakârlıkikilemindeki yorumlama biçimleri, onların dindarlık anlayışlarını dabelirlemektedir. Religious authorities have an important influence on the production and transfer of the understanding of religion. Particularly in the formation of traditional folk religiousity, religious attitudes, interpretations and behaviors of the seydas, along with many other factors have a predominant role. The processes of intellectual and material modernization emerging in the form of rapid changes in the values and practical applications of society, makes a pressure on the change of mentality of religious authorities at various levels. In this context, the ways of interpretation of religious sources by religious authorities, in the dilemma of change and conservatism, also define their understanding of religiosity. In this article, the religious understanding of the madrasah seydas in Diyarbakir, which is undergoing a rapid modernization process was investigated in the light of the research data obtained by qualitative research method in 2014-2016.

Malaysia and Indonesia are two of the ten countries with the largest total assets of Islamic financial markets in the world. The religiosity of a company can influences one of the qualities of accounting. The accounting quality of a company can be measured from accounting conservatism. This study aims to determine the comparison of conservatism between Islamic banks and conventional banks. The samples are Islamic banks and conventional banks in Indonesia and Malaysia from 2013 to 2017. The samples are 13 Islamic banks and 45 conventional banks so that the total sample is 290 observations. Data analysis using pooled least square regression. The result showed that conventional banks in Indonesia tend to be more conservative compared to sharia banks and sharia banks in Malaysia tend to be more conservative compared to conventional banks. Furthermore, changes in non-performing loans and changes in loan charge-offs have positive effect on conservatism.

This article attempts to study the relationship between different dimensions of religiosity – ideological, emotional, ritual, knowledge, and consequential - and committing suicide. Based on theories of Clark, Stark and Meadow on religiosity, as well as theories of Durkheim, Porter Field, Gibbs and Martin on suicide, and by using survey method, descriptive statistics, T- test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient, the study tries to illustrate the relation between different aspects of religiosity and committing suicide in Darehshahr, Iran, 2009. Findings of the research indicate that different dimensions of religiosity among normal individuals (control group) are higher than that among the suicidal people.

Meaning in life as a psychological phenomenon is only understood based on the Western perspective which calls for exploring Muslims’ perception about the concept. Fifteen Muslim postgraduate students from the IIUM participated in the study. With the use of a semi-structured interview that lasted for 12-25minutes for each participant, six themes emerged from the transcribed data. Findings reveal that Muslim students perceive that having a close relationship with God and serving His purpose helps them to perceive life to be meaningful.. Implications for the study based on cultural and existential factors and religion were also discussed.

The aim of this research is to find out about the effect of religiousity, media pornography exposure,and permissive parenting style simultaneously towards sexual behavior of Christian adolescent in West Savu and Raijua. Samples of this research are 258 of middle and late adolescent. Data was collected by spreading psychological scale. There were four scales, which were sexual behavior scale (Soetjiningsih, 2008a), religiousity scale (Azam et al.,2012), media pornography exposure scale (Soetjiningsih, 2008a), and permissive parenting style scale (Robinson et al., 1995). All data is analyzed with multivariate double linear regression analysis by SPSS Windows 17.0 program. The result showed that religiousity,media pornography exposure, and permissive parenting style simultaneously affected sexual behavior of adolescent in West Savu and Raijua (R2 = 0,448, Fhitung = 30,882; in significance level 0,000 < 0,05) for male adolescent, and R2 = 0,611 Fhitung = 66,975; in significance level 0,000 < 0,05) for female adolescent.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how religiosity affects both public attitudes about the importance of severe punishments (as a characteristic of democracy) and public confidence in the police and the justice system. This study also examines the socio-demographic (e.g., age, gender, education) factors that influence public perceptions about punishment and confidence in criminal justice institutions. In doing so, this study compares two countries that are both religious and democratic: Turkey and the United States. The current study employs data from Wave 5 (2005-2008) of the World Values Survey (WVS). The U.S. data is based on a sample of 1,249 respondents who participated in face-to-face interviews in 2006. The Turkish data is based on a sample of 1,346 respondents who participated in face-to-face interviews in 2007. Analyses were conducted using the SPSS 21 software program.

Pornography use is widespread and may be associated with maladaptive outcomes, such as unhealthy attitudes toward women and unhealthy attitudes about sex. The links between pornography use and maladaptive outcomes may be particularly strong among individuals who adopt an identity that is opposed to the viewing of pornography, such as a faith-based identity. Couched in the context of cascade development theory, the present study examined associations between the age of onset of adolescent pornography use and maladaptive outcomes. Participants included males between the ages of 18 and 25 years recruited through Amazon.com's Mechanical Turk interface. Participants completed a battery of questionnaires that assessed pornography use and psychosexual attitudes and behaviors. Results revealed that individuals exposed to pornography prior to age 15 years were more likely to view pornography as adults, reported more hypersexual behavior, and were more likely to report a likelihood to rape. Self-reported religious commitment did not moderate associations between age of onset and adult psychosexual outcomes, with one exception. Individuals with a high religious commitment were more likely to report hypersexual behaviors when age of onset was later in life. The findings from this study have implications for the development of healthy and unhealthy sexual attitudes and behaviors, as well as prevention and intervention efforts.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan pengaruh ajaran Sunan Geseng bagi kehidupan keagamaan masyarakat di wilayah Grabag Magelang. Sunan Geseng adalah seorang tokoh agama atau disebut wali yang menyebarkan agama Islam di wilayah Grabag, Kabupaten Magelang yang sampai sekarang ajaran-ajarannya masih dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat di wilayah Grabag, yang diwujudkan dalam kehidupan keagamaan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat di wilayah komplek makam Sunan Geseng. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan mengadopsi pola studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan beberapa fakta tentang kuatnya pengaruh ajaran Sunan Geseng terhadap kehidupan masyarakat Grabag Magelang. Contohnya, makam Sunan Geseng yang digunakan sebagai tempat wisata spiritual keagamaan, yang banyak dikunjungi para peziarah. Selain itu ada tradisi selikuran yang dilaksanakan setahun sekali pada malam ke-21 bulan Ramadhan di kompleks makam Sunan Geseng. Juga masih terdapat kegiatan keagamaan masyarakat yang menganut ajaran Sunan Geseng seperti tradisi slametan, gendurenan, methoan, dan tradisi-tradisi yang lainnya. Hal lain yang menarik adalah banyak pondok pesantren yang sistem pengelolaan maupun pengajarannya serupa dengan pondok pesantren rintisan Sunan Geseng. Hal ini membuktikan teori sentimen kemasyarakatan yang menyatakan bahwa peristiwa sejarah masa lampau dan peninggalan-peninggalan Sunan Geseng menjadi dasar sentimen kemasyarakatan.The objective of this research is to describe the influence of Sunan Geseng religious teachings on the society of Grabag, Magelang. Sunan Geseng is a religious figure or called wali who spreaded Islam in Grabag region, Magelang. His religious teachings are still implemented and hold by the society in Grabag region, living in Sunan Geseng cemetary area. The method used in this study is a qualitative research which also adopted the pattern of case study. Data was collected through interview and observation. Research results show the strong influence of Sunan Geseng’s religious teaching is apparent in Grabag, Magelang. Among the indicators are the use of Sunan Geseng’s cemetery as spiritual tourism site visited by people from many area. There is also selikuran tradition held annually at the 21st night of Ramadhan in Sunan Geseng cemetery area. There are also other rituals like slametan, gendurenan, and methoan. Another interesting thing is that many boarding schools still adopt the management system or learning process like those of Sunan Geseng. All of this enforce the society sentiment theory stating that historical memory in the the past and Sunan Geseng heritages are fondation for society sentiment.

A presente dissertação analisa a religiosidade no método APAC e a aloca como um dos mecanismos utilizados na recuperação dos presos. Para tanto, investigamos, de início, como os Cursilhos de Cristandade, em seu ramo que se opõe à Teologia da Libertação, berço dos primórdios apaqueanos, influenciaram na perspectiva religiosa apregoada pela instituição até os dias de hoje. Após, apresentamos um breve histórico do discurso da APAC, enfatizando a sistematização do método nos escritos mais recentes de seu fundador, Mário Ottoboni. Balizado esse viés discursivo (primeira parte), passamos a discorrer sobre os resultados da nossa pesquisa de campo acerca de dois eixos basilares, que nos permitiram uma melhor compreensão do nosso objeto. Trata-se, de plano, da noção de conversão moralizante – a conversão pessoal do preso dá azo às suas mudanças de comportamento –, bem como da verificação de como o quadro de afloramento da religiosidade dinamiza o pluralismo religioso na APAC. This dissertation analyzes the religiosity in method APAC and allocates as one of the mechanismis utilized in the recovery of prisoners. For this, we investigated, initially, as the Cursillo of Christianity, in their field that opposes to Liberation Theology, origin of the early of APAC, influence in religious perspective proclaimed to institution until the present day. After, we show a concise history of the discourse of APAC, emphasizing the sistematization of the method in more recent writings of its founder, Mário Ottoboni. Delimited this bias discursive (first part), we discuss the results of our field research on two basics axles, which allowed us a better understanding of our object. This refers, in the plan, of the notion of moralizing conversion – the prisioner’s personal conversion gives rise to their behavior changes – as well as the verification of how the frame of outcrop of the religiosity dinamizes the religious pluralism in APAC.

İnsanların diğer yörelerden farklı olarak tarihsel, ekonomik, sosyolojik ve kültürel deneyimleri bağlamında geliştirdikleri inanç ve uygulamaları kendi başlarına özgünlüklerini oluşturur. Hedefe ulaşırken sosyolojinin bilimsel yöntemleri kullanılarak Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesi'nde Giresun İli'nin bir ilçesi olan Espiye'de halk dindarlığı araştırılmıştır.Sosyolojik bir kurum olarak din, siyasal anlamda çekişmelere sahne olsa da, çalışmada ele alınan halk dindarlığı bu sahnenin uzağındadır. İki bölümden oluşan çalışmada önce yörenin genel yapısı ele alınmış, daha sonra yörede halk dindarlığının temel görünümleri incelenmiştir. Unlike the other regions, people?s own faith and implementations which they improved within the context of their historical, economic, sociological and cultural experiences creat their own individuality. To be discovered of this individuality and thus the appearance of the public piety is the main aim of this study. To achieve the aim, the popular religiousity in Espiye which is a district of Giresun in Eastern Black Sea Region has been researched using the scientific methods of sociology.Even though religion is a witness of politically contentions as a sociological institution, the popular religiousity that is discussed in this study is apart from that conflict. In this dimerious study firstly the general structure of the district and then the essential outlook of the popular religiousity in the region have been analised. 185

Vjeronauk kao sastavni dio nastavnoga plana i programa danas se između ostaloga nalazi pred pitanjem kako i koliko pridonosi odgojnom uključivanju učenika s različitim odgojno-obrazovnim potrebama i mogućnostima te kako i koliko pridonosi socijalnom povezivanju. Jesu li vjeroučiteljice i vjeroučitelji osposobljeni za navedene zadatke? Kako izgleda temeljna i trajna formacija vjeroučitelja u pogledu takva osposobljavanja? Neka poimanja vjere i odgovarajuće oblike vjeronauka okrivljuje se upravo za razdvajanje učenika. Promišljanje o navedenim pitanjima kojima se bavio ovogodišnji znanstveni susret članica i članova Europskoga foruma za školski vjeronauk, a koja se ovdje razmatraju u odnosu na situaciju u Hrvatskoj, navela su na propitivanje šire crkvene i društvene situacije koja utječe na mogućnost ili nemogućnost ostvarivanja spomenutih zadataka u vjeronauku u Hrvatskoj. U skladu s time u članku se prikazuje važnost religije i Katoličke crkve u društvu na temelju konfesionalne identifikacije stanovništva, ali i ambivalentna percepcija vjerske i crkvene prisutnosti u društvu od strane nereligiozne manjine. Nakon toga iznosi se organizacijsko-pravni okvir statusa vjeronauka i izobrazbe vjeroučitelja u Hrvatskoj. U trećem dijelu ukazuje se na neke trendove mentalnog zatvaranja u Crkvi koji sprečavaju otvorenost spram sekulariziranog društva i razvoj sposobnosti za dijalog s drugima i drugačijima. Na kraju se pozornost usmjerava na potrebu jačanja crkvenih opredjeljenja na tragu Drugoga vatikanskog koncila kojima se na području vjerskog odgoja i obrazovanja pridonosi ostvarivanju zadaće služenja Crkve u suvremenom svijetu., Religious education as an integral part of the curriculum, among other things, is faced with the question of in which way and how much it contributes to the educational inclusion of students with different educational needs and opportunities and as well as how it contributes to social bonding. Are the RE teachers trained for these tasks? What is the basic and ongoing formation of RE teachers in respect to such training? Some points of faith and the forms of religion are being accused of separating students. Reflections regarding these issues were dealt with at this year's meeting of the members of the European Forum for the school religious education, which is discussed here in relation to the situation in Croatia. This has led to questioning the wider religious and social situation that affects the ability or inability to achieve these tasks in religious education in Croatia. Accordingly, the article shows the importance of religion and the Catholic Church in society on the basis of the religious identification of the population, but also the ambivalent perception of religious and ecclesiastical presence in society from the viewpoint of the non-religious minority. The article also deals with the organizational and legal framework of the status of religious education and training of RE teachers in Croatia. The third part presents some trends of mentality closure in the Church which in turn prevents openness towards secular society and a developed capacity for dialogue with others and those that are different. Finally, attention is focused on the need to strengthen the religious orientation on the track of the Second Vatican Council which in the area of religious education contributes to achieving the tasks of the service of the Church in the Modern World., Der Religionsunterricht als Bestandteil des Unterrichtsplans und -programms befindet sich heute unter anderem vor der Frage, wieviel und wie er der Erziehung von Schülern mit verschiedenen Erziehungs- bzw. Ausbildungsbedürfnissen und Möglichkeiten beiträgt, und wieviel und wie er der sozialen Kohäsion einen Beitrag leistet. Sind die Religionslehrer- und Lehrerinnen für diese Aufgaben auch befähigt? Wie sieht die Grund- und Fortbildung von Religionslehrern in Bezug auf den Erwerb von diesen Kompetenzen aus? Manche Glaubensvorstellungen und entsprechende Formen von Religionsunterricht werden gerade der Trennung bzw. der Spaltung zwischen den Schülern beschuldigt. Die Überlegungen zu vorerwähnten Fragen, mit welchen sich das diesjährige wissenschaftliche Zusammentreffen von Mitgliedern des Europäischen Forums für den schulischen Religionsunterricht befasst hat, werden hier in Bezug auf die Situation in Kroatien betrachtet. Dabei kommt die aktuelle gesellschaftliche und kirchliche Situation in den Blick, welche auf die Möglichkeit oder Unmöglichkeit der Realisierung von genannten Aufgaben im Religionsunterricht in Kroatien geprüft wird. Dementsprechend wird in diesem Beitrag die Wichtigkeit der Religion und der Katholischen Kirche in der Gesellschaft aufgrund der konfessionellen Selbstidentifizierung der Bevölkerung dargesellt. Zugleich wird auf die ambivalente Perzeption der Präsenz von Glauben und Kirche in der Gesellschaft seitens der nichtreligiösen Minderheit higewiesen. Danach wird der organisatorische und juristische Rahmen für den Status des Religionsunterrichts und die Ausbildung von Religionslehrern in Kroatien vorgestellt. Im dritten Teil wird auf einige Tendenzen der geistigen Abschottung in der Kirche hingewiesen, welche die Offenheit gegenüber der säkularisierten Gesellschaft sowie die Entwicklung der Fähigkeit für den Dialog mit Anderen und Andersartigen verhindern. Am Ende wird die Aufmerksamkeit auf die Notwendigkeit der Stärkung kirchlicher Ausrichtung auf der Linie des II. Vatikanums gelenkt, durch welche im Bereich der religiösen Erziehung und Bildung zur Verwirklichung der Aufgabe des Dienens der Kirche in der modernen Welt beigetragen wird.

The. present article analyzes the expression of religious experience and practice in Lithuania at the juncture of the 20th-21st centuries, identifies the models of religious experience and practice, defines the attitude to Catholic Church and to its teaching. The article analyzes the level of identification with Catholic Church in attitude and behaviour, the models of attitude to religion prevailing in families, the factors of religious experience and practice and the models of their formation.

Članak je hrvatski prilog za komparativnu europsku studiju među jedanaest zemalja na temelju pilo tistraživanja u pitanju Crkve i odgoja u Europi u okviru znanstvenoga projekta: Crkva - društvo - država u Europi. Zbog komparativnoga postupka svi prilozi, pa tako i hrvatski prilog, slijede istu strukturu, u četiri dijela. Prvi dio obuhvaća opće podatke koji su važni za razumijevanje Crkve i odgoja u Hrvatskoj: sažeti prikaz odnosa Crkve i države u pitanju odgoja i obrazovanja od utemeljenja hrvatske države do danas; konfesionalni sastav naroda i fenomen procesa suvremene dekristianizacije s fenomenom religioznoga i crkvenoga buđenja. Drugi dio raspravlja o pravnim osnovama i pitanjima financiranja odgoja i obrazovanja, i o problemima koji su s tim pitanjima povezani. Radi se o ljudskim pravima, individualnim i korporativnim religioznim slobodama, te o odnosu Crkve i države, kako na razini Ustava i zakona tako i u okviru međunarodnih ugovora. U kritičkom osvrtu dolazi do izražaja pitanje koliko je u praksi ostvareno ono što je pravno deklarirano. Treći dio obrađuje stav Crkve prema njezinom poslanju i zalaganju na području odgoja i obrazovanja i opisuje posebni profil katoličke škole na svim stupnjevima nacionalnoga sustava u teoriji i praksi; u tom kontekstu, na temelju empirijskih istraživanja, identificiraju se pozitivni rezultati i najvažniji problemi. Zatim se opisuje koncepcija vjerskoga odgoja i školskoga vjeronauka s postojećim stanjem praktičnoga provođenja i prihvaćenosti s prikazom empirijskih istraživanja. Polazeći od problema u kojem se nalazi suvremeno hrvatsko društvo, u zaključnom četvrtom dijelu, članak ističe opciju za odgoj i obrazovanje koja proizlazi iz same naravi Crkve. Tim zaključnim odgovorom članak se na neki način vraća na temeljno pitanje istraživanja: Koliko dinamični (i problemski) suodnos Crkve - društva - države Hrvatske pruža mogućnosti za crkveni rad na području odgoja i obrazovanja., This article is the Croatian contribution to the European Comparative Studies that is being carried out in eleven other countries on the basis of a pilot project regarding the Church and formation in Europe in the framework of the project: Church - Society - State in Europe. Because of the comparative approach, all of the articles, including the Croatian one, follow the same structure of four parts. The first part contains general information that is important for understanding the Church and formation in Croatia: a summary of Church-State relations regarding formation and education, from the founding of the Croatian State to present; a denominational breakdown of the people and the contemporary phenomenon of de-christianization and the recent religious and church awakening. The second part discusses some legal and financing questions regarding formation and education, and all of the problems related to these questions. This refers to human rights, individual and corporate religious freedoms and Church-State relations on the level of the Constitution and legal code and in the framework of international treaties. In the critique there is an analysis of the extent in which the legal declarations are placed into practice. The third part deals with the Church's stand regarding its mission and outreach in the areas of formation and education and there is a theoretical and practical profile of the Catholic schools at all levels of the national system; In that context, on the basis of empirical research, the positive results and the most significant problems are identified. Furthermore, on the basis of empirical research there is an analysis of the conceptions oreligious formation and school religion, highlighting the results of its implementation and acceptance. Taking into consideration the problems that contemporary Croatia is facing, in the concluding fourth part, the article emphasizes the option of formation and education that flows from the nature of the Church. With this concluding answer the article returns to the fundamental question of this research: How does the dynamic (and problematic) cooperation of the Church-society-Croatian State offer possiblities for Church ministry in the area of formation and education.
