The article is devoted to the study of the psychological mechanisms for metaphor, proverb and saying understanding by children in English and Russian literature via theoretical and empirical methods. The testing of proverb understanding by children showed that all children (bilinguals and monolinguals) coped well with the assignment. However, the bilingual children coped with the test better than the monolinguals. After all, the authors concluded that the level of proverb understanding by children, both bilinguals and monolinguals, depends on the development and the manifestation of associative thinking and a child's ability to see the meaning behind the images.

The aim of this study is to investigate the significance of site for the Umeå University students’ environmentally friendly behavior, by studying their environmental awareness, social norms and whether they use compensatory beliefs at home or during their vacation. The result of this study shows that the majority of the students are considered highly environmentally conscious as they show high awareness about the global environmental issues of climate change as well as the negative effects of carbon dioxide from transports and the usage of plastic products. Only a minority of the students showed a significant value of the usage of compensatory beliefs during their vacation, these students also showed a lower environmentally issue awareness. The social norm among the student’s family and friends shows an acceptance and usage of plastic products and transports as car in their everyday life and flights and plastic products during the holidays. Even though the study presents that the students are environmentally conscious, the results also presents that they travel on holidays a couple of times per year and doing so most frequently with the usage of flights.

Current educators, employers and authorities advocate that learners develop intercultural capacity. The term ‘cultural competence’ has more recently included an intercultural orientation, yet definitions of intercultural competence vary and are contested, the desired intercultural capacity more recently defined as intercultural capability. However, there have been no practical studies in whether and how this is developed, nor on the inherent role of agency. This study examines, through iterative reflective inquiry using a multiple strategy qualitative research design, whether and how school language teachers in one Australian state – Queensland – develop their students’ intercultural capabilities. It focusses on the practice of eight Senior languages teachers; their perceptions of their students and their interculturality; and whether and how they design their teaching to develop what can be assessed as intercultural capability. This will be examined through a focus on teachers’ own world views; their perceptions of their learners as individuals with stores of knowledge; the learner routines they design and implement; their mediation of language, culture and learning; and their reflexivity. It is hoped that this exploration of teachers’ situated discursive and relational practices will illustrate ways their pedagogical stances develop agency and intercultural capability. The study was undertaken in four schools across all sectors using Studies Authority and IB curricula. Classroom observation notes, a curriculum document examination, student questionnaire, teacher questionnaire, videoed class and subsequent stimulated recall with each teacher provided data which were reduced using both deductive and inductive processes. Thematic content analysis was used to discern themes and how they might coalesce, and to categorize, then reorganize as necessary. Setiap murid memiliki kemampuan yang berbeda-beda, faktor yang mempengaruhi belajar murid yaitu faktor internal, eksternal, dan pendekatan belajar. Faktor internal diantaranya tingkat kecerdasan, sikap, dan motivasi murid. Namun kenyataannya tidak semua murid memiliki motivasi belajar yang baik, salah satu penyebabnya yaitu murid tidak mampu mengelola emosi secara baik. Dengan kecerdasan emosional murid akan dapat mengendalikan emosinya termasuk memotivasi diri untuk belajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif, jenis penelitian asosiatif berupa sebab akibat. Populasi yang digunakan yaitu seluruh murid SMA Amaliah tahun ajaran 2016/2017 yang berjumlah 94 murid, sampel yang digunakan yaitu sebanyak 64 murid. Teknik pengambilan data: angket skala likert, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan persamaan regresi yaitu Y= 32,4% + 0,776X dapat dikatakan hubungan bahwa antara kecerdasan emosional dan motivasi belajar murid merupakan hubungan yang berbanding lurus, artinya Koefisien determinasi yaitu 0,5952 = 0,354, dengan demikian nilai motivasi belajar murid sebesar 35,4% dipengaruhi oleh kecerdasan emosional, sedangkan 64,6% sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor stimuli belajar, metode belajar, kematangan, dan kecerdasan murid.KATA KUNCI: kecerdasan emosional, motivasi belajar, murid EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE EFFECT ON STUDENT LEARNING MOTIVATIONABSTRACTEvery student have the different abilities, factor the influence motivation student learning that is internal factor, external factor, and approach to learning. The current study was particularly designed to know the underlying causes behind low achievement in mathematics by covering the perception of teachers, parents and students. District Faisalabad (N=600) was chosen as the population of the study. Sample comprised of N=200 students (100 girls and 100 boys) belonging to class two to matriculation, N=200 teachers (100 females and 100 males) and N=200 parents (100 mothers and 100 fathers) which were chosen by using a simple random sampling method. A structured questionnaire for collecting specific information was developed on the basis of 5 point Likert Scale such as strongly agreed (1), agreed (2), not sure (3), disagreed (4), and strongly disagreed (5). After that, collected data was tabulated and results were interpreted through descriptive statistics by using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). Mean values, frequencies, standard deviations and percentages were also found to highlight the results. The study revealed strictness while teaching mathematics as the major cause of low achievement in mathematics by the perception of students and lack of exercise as a major cause by the perception of teachers. Likewise, lake of attention as a major cause was revealed by the perception of parents.
