The purpose of this article is to gather discussions on two areas of science: theology and media studies in a comparative perspective. The authors analyse the methodological aspects of both areas of science and further argue that there is a common area of interest which includes research on media and communications. Abstract: The interaction of NO and O2 with 5mol.% of vanadia deposited on Ce0.10Zr0.90O2 and Ce0.69Zr0.31O2 supports by wet impregnation was studied by means of EPR and IR. The supports were structurally characterized by XRD and Raman spectroscopy. Influence of the phase composition of the support on vanadium speciation as well as on surface architecture of the oxovanadium entities was discussed. The NO forms adsorbed on vanadium-containing systems were compared to those observed on bare CeO2-ZrO2 supports. The main products appearing on the catalysts surface during the consecutive reaction with NO and O2 were identified and their thermal evolution was observed. Changes in vanadium speciation accompanying redox processes related to NO and O2 activation were also observed and discussed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Variable temperature adsorption of nitric oxide on MoO3 supported on tetragonal zirconia (MoO x /t-ZrO2), obtained by slurry deposition, was investigated by EPR spectroscopy. The influence of molybdenum loading and co-adsorbed oxygen on the adsorption process of NO was elucidated. Particular attention was devoted to redox character of NO activation. Another important aspect concerned is the nature of surface nitrosyl complexes of molybdenum and their thermal stability. Abstract: The interaction of nitric oxide with Ce0.75Zr0.25O2 solid solution were investigated by means of EPR and IR spectroscopies. The influence of adsorption parameters such as adsorption temperature and pressure, presence of the O2 co-reactant on the nature and relative surface abundance of the resultant mono- and dimeric NO species was elucidated. The thermal stability of the surface nitrosyl complexes and their reactivity toward dioxygen were also examined. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Structural (XRD) and spectroscopic (EPR, IR and Raman) investigations were performed to elucidate the influence of CeO2 content on the phase composition and surface chemistry of Ce x Zr1−x O2 solid solutions (x =0.10–0.85), interacting with NO and NO2 in the absence and presence of oxygen. Strong influence of ceria loading on the adsorption modes of both nitrogen oxides and the nature of the resultant surface species was revealed. Adsorption of NO led to formation of mononitrosyl complexes, dimers and N2O, whereas interaction of NO2 with the ceria–zirconia catalyst resulted in the adsorbate disproportionation or coupling, depending on the sample composition. Application of EPR spectroscopy corroborated by spectra simulation in speciation studies of the tetravalent vanadium in supported VOx/ZrO2 catalyst has been discussed. Implementation of genetic algorithms into automated analysis of the EPR spectra has greatly improved the simulation efficiency. The performance of the new procedure has been benchmarked against common simplex method using the multi-component model and real EPR spectra of tetravalent vanadium in VOx/ZrO2 catalysts. The analysis has revealed speciation of vanadium into surface isolated and clustered vanadyl entities and isolated bulk VxZr ions due to formation of Zr1-x VxO2 solid solution in the near to surface region. The structural heterogeneity of vanadium can be controlled by the calcination temperature and the redox treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article, as the fourth in the cycle, presents the conclusions of the research project analysing marketing activities of Polish Catholic opinion-forming weeklies on the chosen social media platforms. This paper aims at presenting the results of the study on the use of Instagram and YouTube as marketing tools by the aforementioned weeklies. The authors focus on such topics as: (1) social media as a way of creating and distributing media products; (2) social media as a way of commercialising the content; (3) social media as carriers of marketing communication (including self-promotion). The empirical research is based on case studies and the content analysis of the social media profiles of the five selected magazines (Gość Niedzielny (GN), Tygodnik Katolicki Niedziela (TKN), Przewodnik Katolicki (PK), Idziemy (I) and Tygodnik Rodzin Katolickich Źródło (TRKŹ)). It can be concluded that some Catholic weeklies manage their accounts in a moderately professional way, using their visual and distribution potential and some functions of the platforms quite efficiently. On the other hand, they do not apply a regular and purposeful self-promotion strategy, do not use important mechanisms of the platforms such as the Shop and IGTV (on Instagram), and do not consistently build a profile or create playlists on YouTube. The main objective of this paper is to determine the religious attitudes of Muslims living in Poland during the COVID-19 pandemic and their reaction to restrictions on free access to religious practices introduced by the Government of Poland. The article is interdisciplinary, and the methodology combines elements of religious studies, political science of religion, and reference to communication and media studies (the importance of the role of the media in supporting government activities and the analysis of online access to Islamic religiosity during a pandemic). The study was conducted in February 2021, but the time frame of the analyzed issues ranges from 4 March 2020 to 28 February 2021, i.e., the year of the epidemic in Poland and the introduction by the Government of restrictions on religious gatherings and the response of the Muslim community to these restrictions. The analysis was carried out on the basis of the author's in-depth interview scenario; it covers representatives of the clergy, religious teachers, and the boards of major Muslim religious unions and associations, as well as Islamic cultural foundations and the attitudes of believers. The study showed that the media and Internet publicity accompanying the introduction of government restrictions and restrictions had a greater impact on society than the civil rights guaranteed in the Polish Constitution. The article also formulates a political science reflection, which shows a significant effect of the Government's actions on the religious community. Despite the constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom, religious communities in Poland have decided to suspend the exercise of these rights voluntarily. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The transmissions of mining conveyors are exposed to very harsh conditions. These are primarily related to the contamination of the gear oil with hard particles coming from coal and lignite, which can cause intensive abrasive wear, scuffing, and even pitting, limiting the life of gears. One of the ways to prevent this problem is the deposition of a wear-resistant coating onto gear teeth. However, a proper choice of gear oil is an important issue. The abrasion, scuffing, and pitting tests were performed using simple, model specimens. A pin and vee block tester was employed for research on abrasion and scuffing. To test pitting, a modified four-ball pitting tester was used, where the top ball was replaced with a cone. The test pins, vee blocks, and cones were made of 18CrNiMo7-6 case-hardened steel. A new W-DLC/CrN coating was tested. It was deposited on the vee blocks and cones. For lubrication, three commercial industrial gear oils were used: A mineral oil, and two synthetic ones with polyalphaolefin (PAO) or polyalkylene glycol (PAG) bases. The results show that, to minimize the tendency forabrasion, scuffing, and pitting, the (W-DLC/CrN)-8CrNiMo7-6 tribosystems should be lubricated by the PAO gear oil. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Vermiculite was treated with 0.8M solutions of hydrochloric and sulphuric acids for 2, 8, and 24h. The obtained materials were characterized with respect to their composition (XRF), structure (XRD, FTIR, UV–vis-DRS), texture (BET), surface acidity (NH3-TPD) and catalytic properties. Modification of vermiculite with acids significantly increased its surface area and pore volume and led to partial leaching of iron, aluminium and magnesium ions from its octahedral sheets. Efficiency of the leaching process depended on its duration and the nature of acid used. Acid treatment strongly modified the vermiculite structure leading to a distinct increase of its catalytic activity in the selective catalytic reduction of nitric oxide (SCR NO) process. In a series of the studied samples the best catalytic performance was found for vermiculite treated with sulphuric acid for 8h. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
