We review the taxonomic identities of museum specimens of three bat species previously reported from Bolivia. We comment on some erroneously reported taxa, or taxa either not represented by voucher materials or based on insufficient data (including acoustic detections) to verify their taxonomic affinities. As result of this review, the list of bat species known to occur in Bolivia is updated to eight families and 133 species, unlike the nine families and 146 species of previous lists. Some recommendations for future research and a brief historical revision of bat inventories in the country are included.

Much recent research has focused on establishing the thermodynamic cost of quantum operations acting on single input states. However, information processing, quantum or classical, relies on channels transforming multiple input states to different corresponding outputs. In Ref. [1] the existence of a bound on the work extraction for multiple inputs was proven. However, no specifics were provided for how optimal multipurpose operations may be constructed, and no upper limit on the dissipated work was given. For the insightful case of qubits, we here give explicit protocols to implement work extraction on multiple states. We first prove conditions on the feasibility of carrying out such transformations at all. Furthermore, we quantify the achievable work extraction, and find that there is a dramatic penalty for multipurpose operations. Our results will be relevant for the growing field of quantum technologies in the thermodynamic assessment of all quantum information processing tasks.

Radiation detection systems allow registering sum peaks as a consequence of their finite time resolution. In order to interpret the accumulated spectra properly it is necessary to be able to predict the presence of these sum peaks in order to identify correctly the peaks that are observed in the spectra, especially those of very low intensity. In this work a detailed analysis of the presence of sum peaks of order two is presented for the case of energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry., Los sistemas de detección de radiación permiten el registro de picos suma como consecuencia de la resolución finita en tiempo de las cadenas de detección. A fin de poder interpretar los espectros que se acumulan es necesario poder predecir la presencia de estos picos suma para lograr una correcta identificación de los picos que se observan en los espectros, de manera particular de aquellos de muy baja intensidad. En este trabajo se trata de analizar la presencia de picos suma de orden 2 en espectros de fluorescencia de rayos dispersiva en energía (FRXDE).

Developing a multidisciplinary research aimed to promote the Safe Ageing of elderly citizens in Alentejo region. Intend to understand and prevent falls and violence in institutionalised and non-institutionalised seniors, in order to decrease economic and financial costs related to falls, injuries and violence.

Participating longevity-linked life annuities (PLLA) in which benefits are updated periodically based on the observed survival experience of a given underlying population and the performance of the investment portfolio are an alternative insurance product offering consumers individual longevity risk protection and the chance to profit from the upside potential of financial market developments. This paper builds on previous research on the design and pricing of PLLAs by considering a Bayesian Model Ensemble of single population generalised age-period-cohort stochastic mortality models in which individual forecasts are weighted by their posterior model probabilities. For the valuation, we adopt a longevity option decomposition approach with risk-neutral simulation and investigate the sensitivity of results to changes in the asset allocation by considering a more aggressive lifecycle strategy. We calibrate models using Taiwanese (mortality, yield curve and stock market) data from 1980 to 2019. The empirical results provide significant valuation and policy insights for the provision of a cost effective and efficient risk pooling mechanism that addresses the individual uncertainty of death, while providing appropriate retirement income and longevity protection.

ilustraciones, fotografías, gráficas, mapas, tablas La estructura urbana y ambiental en la ciudad de Bogotá en los últimos 50 años ha generado fragmentos de territorio desconectados, debido a la presión que ejerce el crecimiento de la ciudad sobre los cuerpos de agua, esa presión ha causado que el espacio de relación entre la trama urbana y el ecosistema natural se dé mediante operaciones sucesivas y superpuestas, cuyo resultado es un espacio público anómalo y un paisaje deteriorado. Es así que la configuración de los frentes de agua de la ciudad de Bogotá y en el caso específico del humedal Tibabuyes se identifica el problema de la baja vitalidad urbana que se encuentra enmarcado en un espacio urbano de alto valor ambiental y ecosistémico, pero su estado actual es deteriorado e inseguro sin ninguna actividad ni articulación con el tejido; la forma de la ciudad que se ha consolidado en el borde ha sido fragmentado, y se ha desarrollado en forma lineal negando la actividad urbana sobre el borde ambiental, lo cual genera un paramento y un límite que desconecta los dos bordes y no permite una legibilidad de la forma urbana del lugar. Con el problema a resolver, el presente trabajo propone los principios de diseño para frentes de agua activo, a partir de las estrategias de revitalización urbana, espacio urbano estratégico y colectivo. Para lograrlo, se plantea desde el enfoque cuantitativo y cualitativo dividido en 5 fases de desarrollo, en donde la primera fase es el diagnóstico tangible del lugar clasificado en la variables de usos, tipo de perfil de la calle, imagen del lugar, condiciones ambientales, tipología de borde, tipología de los lugares que tiene mayor demanda de usuarios, la funcionalidad del espacio público y puntos de referencia del tejido urbano; en la fase dos se desarrolla el marco conceptual de vitalidad urbana, revitalización urbana y espacio urbano estratégico y colectivo, en la fase tres se desarrollan los principios, con el cual se hace la comparación con la vitalidad urbana, para así identificar su relación al problema de la baja vitalidad urbana con los principios de frentes de agua activo, teniendo como resultado un propuesta de diseño en la fase 4, por último se realiza una comparación del sitio con el lugar de la propuesta en la fase 5. Como reflexión debemos saber que todo cuerpo de agua dentro del ámbito urbano tiene una conexión mediante su borde natural, y es este mismo, el que desempeña un papel importante en la sociedad, con valores agregados no sólo en términos del mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de los habitantes sino también como espacios capaces de articular y cohesionar el tejido social alrededor del agua, cuyo propósito es la prevención y la sostenibilidad ambiental de los ecosistemas urbanos. The urban and environmental structure in the city of Bogota, has generated disconnected portions of territory in the last 50 years, that is because of the pressure of the city itself, over the water bodies, that pressure has generated that the space of relation between the urban grid and the natural ecosystem occurs through successive and overlapping operations, and whose result is an anomalous public space and a deteriorated landscape. In this way, the organization of the water fronts of the city of Bogotá and in the specific case of the ¨Tibabuyes¨ floodplain, one identifies the problem of low urban vitality which is framed in an urban space of high environmental and ecosystem value. Nonetheless, its current state is damaged and insecure, without any activity undertaken by society. The shape of the city has been consolidated on the edge and was fragmented and developed linearly, denying urban activity on the environmental edge, which generates a parameter and a limit that disconnects the two edges and does not allow a readability of the urban form of the place. With the problem to be solved, this work proposes the design principles for active water fronts based on strategies of urban revitalization, strategic and collective urban space. To perform this, it is proposed from the quantitative and qualitative approach divided into 5 phases of development, where the first phase is the tangible diagnosis of the place classified in the variables of uses, type of profile of the street, image of the place, environmental circumstances, border typology and typology of the places, which have the highest demand for users, besides the functionality of the public space and benchmarks of the urban tissue. In the second phase the conceptual framework of urban vitality, urban revitalization, urban, strategic and collective space is developed. In the third phase, the principles are developed, with those with which the comparison with the urban vitality is done, in order to identify its relationship to the problem of low urban vitality with the principles of active water fronts, resulting in a design proposal in phase 4. Finally, a comparison between the site and the place of the proposal in phase 5 is performed. As a final thought, we must know that every body of water within the urban environment has a connection through its natural edge, and it is this same one, which plays an important role in the society, that means that other values are being added, not only in terms of improving the quality of life of the residents, but also as spaces capable of articulating and combining the community around the water, whose purpose is the prevention and the environmental sustainability of the urban ecosystems. El estudio tuvo como objetivo establecer valores de referencia propios en cerdos, donde se analizó 16 tipos de alteraciones morfológicas eritrocitarias, esto en extensiones de sangre periférica en cerdos aparentemente sanos en condiciones de altitud. Se realizó el análisis estadístico, obteniendo así valores con una diferencia significativa respecto a los valores referenciales. The study aimed to establish own reference values in pigs, where 16 types of erythrocyte morphological alterations were analyzed, this in peripheral blood smears in apparently healthy pigs under altitude conditions. Statistical analysis was performed, thus obtaining values with a significant difference with respect to the reference values.
