In this paper, we investigate the Kirkwood-Dirac nonclassicality and uncertainty diagram based on discrete Fourier transform (DFT) in a $d$ dimensional system. The uncertainty diagram of complete incompatibility bases $\mathcal {A},\mathcal {B}$ are characterized by De Bi\`{e}vre [arXiv: 2207.07451]. We show that for the uncertainty diagram of the DFT matrix which is a transition matrix from basis $\mathcal {A}$ to basis $\mathcal {B}$, there is no ``hole" in the region of the $(n_{\mathcal {A}}, n_{\mathcal {B}})$-plane above and on the line $n_{\mathcal {A}}+n_{\mathcal {B}}\geq d+1$, whether the bases $\mathcal {A},\mathcal {B}$ are not complete incompatible bases or not. Then we present that the KD nonclassicality of a state based on the DFT matrix can be completely characterized by using the support uncertainty relation $n_{\mathcal {A}}(\psi)n_{\mathcal {B}}(\psi)\geq d$, where $n_{\mathcal {A}}(\psi)$ and $n_{\mathcal {B}}(\psi)$ count the number of nonvanishing coefficients in the basis $\mathcal {A}$ and $\mathcal {B}$ representations, respectively. That is, a state $|\psi\rangle$ is KD nonclassical if and only if $n_{\mathcal {A}}(\psi)n_{\mathcal {B}}(\psi)> d$, whenever $d$ is prime or not. That gives a positive answer to the conjecture in [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{127}, 190404 (2021)].

AI alignment is about ensuring AI systems only pursue goals and activities that are beneficial to humans. Most of the current approach to AI alignment is to learn what humans value from their behavioural data. This paper proposes a different way of looking at the notion of alignment, namely by introducing AI Alignment Dialogues: dialogues with which users and agents try to achieve and maintain alignment via interaction. We argue that alignment dialogues have a number of advantages in comparison to data-driven approaches, especially for behaviour support agents, which aim to support users in achieving their desired future behaviours rather than their current behaviours. The advantages of alignment dialogues include allowing the users to directly convey higher-level concepts to the agent, and making the agent more transparent and trustworthy. In this paper we outline the concept and high-level structure of alignment dialogues. Moreover, we conducted a qualitative focus group user study from which we developed a model that describes how alignment dialogues affect users, and created design suggestions for AI alignment dialogues. Topological Hall effect (THE), an electrical transport signature of systems with chiral spin textures like skyrmions, has been observed recently in topological insulator (TI)-based magnetic heterostructures. However, the intriguing interplay between the topological surface state and THE is yet to be fully understood. In this work, we report a large THE of ~10 ohm (~4 micro-ohm*cm) at 2 K with an electrically reversible sign in a top-gated 4 nm TI (Bi0.3Sb0.7)2Te3 (BST) grown on a ferrimagnetic insulator (FI) europium iron garnet (EuIG). Temperature, external magnetic field angle, and top gate bias dependences of magnetotransport properties were investigated and consistent with a skyrmion-driven THE. Most importantly, a sign change in THE was discovered as the Fermi level was tuned from the upper to the lower parts of the gapped Dirac cone and vice versa. This discovery is anticipated to impact technological applications in ultralow power skyrmion-based spintronics.

Knowledge base completion (KBC) aims to predict the missing links in knowledge graphs. Previous KBC tasks and approaches mainly focus on the setting where all test entities and relations have appeared in the training set. However, there has been limited research on the zero-shot KBC settings, where we need to deal with unseen entities and relations that emerge in a constantly growing knowledge base. In this work, we systematically examine different possible scenarios of zero-shot KBC and develop a comprehensive benchmark, ZeroKBC, that covers these scenarios with diverse types of knowledge sources. Our systematic analysis reveals several missing yet important zero-shot KBC settings. Experimental results show that canonical and state-of-the-art KBC systems cannot achieve satisfactory performance on this challenging benchmark. By analyzing the strength and weaknesses of these systems on solving ZeroKBC, we further present several important observations and promising future directions., Comment: ICDMW 2022

Modern infrared (IR) microscopy, communication, and sensing systems demand control of the spectral characteristics and polarization states of light. Typically, these systems require the cascading of multiple filters, polarization optics and rotating components to manipulate light, inevitably increasing their sizes and complexities. Here, we report two-terminal mid-infrared (mid-IR) emitters with electrically controllable spectral and polarization properties. Our devices are composed of two back-to-back p-n junctions formed by stacking anisotropic light-emitting materials, black phosphorus and black arsenic-phosphorus with MoS2. By controlling the crystallographic orientations and engineering the band profile of heterostructures, the emissions of two junctions exhibit distinct spectral ranges and polarization directions; more importantly, these two electroluminescence (EL) units can be independently activated, depending on the polarity of the applied bias. Furthermore, we show that when operating our emitter under the polarity-switched pulse mode, its EL exhibits the characteristics of broad spectral coverage, encompassing the entire first mid-IR atmospheric window, and electrically tunable spectral shapes. Our results provide the basis for developing groundbreaking technology in the field of light emitters.
