Energy has had a definitive impact on human life throughout history. Beginning with the harnessing of fire, which offered warmth, improved shelter and more food, humanity's standard of living has been defined by the power derived from fuels and food. Access to energy is the briefest way in which to summarize the history of the world. Direct and indirect causes of war have involved access to energy, and the results of conflicts have been determined by who controlled the energy resources. Therefore, the scientific literature reveals very close interactions between energy studies and social science studies. The Scopus database contains about 118 000 publications in the fields of social sciences and energy. The current study aims to exploit this resource to identify the interactions that exist between the fields so that future research can investigate these more deeply and thus develop solutions to the problems of the modern world. The present article will analyse these publications systematically according to author, country, institution and year, in addition to examining the changes in keywords that have occurred in these studies over the years. In this paper, the research trend in relation to the NZEB buildings is explored, through the analysis of selected scientific articles published in 11 journals collected in chronological order from 2014 to 2020. The analysis is carried out on the basis and terms of annual investigative publications of the documents in relation to the NZEB, such as contributions made by countries, institutions, authors, and research topics covered. The study carried out uses a document review methodology. The analysis reveals a growing interest in energy efficiency research in recent times, implying that the importance that the construction industry attaches to NZEB in consequences of global warming and accelerating environmental problems. The findings also indicate that, during the period studied, researchers in developed economy areas such as the US and Italy contributed higher rates to promoting research on NZEB. Developing countries like China also went to great lengths to promote research. Research topics covered tend to focus on studies completed with NZEB project delivery and development, building rehabilitation, energy performance, and advanced technologies applied for energy improvement in buildings. This research provides a valuable platform for industry professionals and researchers to understand NZEB construction research trends and developments, including their applicability and their future research and contributions to the topic. The recent revision of Emergency Core Cooling System (ECCS) regulations in Korea has necessitated the consideration of Fuel Fragmentation, Relocation, and Dispersal (FFRD) phenomena in nuclear reactor safety analyses. Consequently, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has developed and integrated the FFRD model into the domestically licensed safety analysis code, SPACE. Globally, US NRC's FRAPTRAN and IRSN's DRACCAR are available for evaluating FFRD phenomena. The FRAPTRAN code incorporates the FFR model, developed by Quantum Technology, while the fuel dispersal model is currently not included. In contrast, the DRACCAR code functions as an integrated analysis platform capable of modeling multi-dimensional thermal, hydraulic, mechanical, and chemical phenomena during a Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA). This study conducts a thorough examination of the FFRD model in the DRACCAR code and validates its applicability through analysis using the Halden IFA-650 tests. The results demonstrate satisfactory predictive capabilities. Furthermore, a parametric study of key FFRD model parameters enhances the understanding of the FFRD model in the DRACCAR code. The development of detailed physical models in the FFRD model could significantly enhance the performance of the DRACCAR code, warranting the establishment of a comprehensive framework for these advancements. In the future, code-to-code comparisons between the DRACCAR code and other domestically developed integrated analysis platforms will be conducted to investigate various phenomena in depth. The study proposes a multi-agent Stackelberg Game Model where distribution network operators act as leaders, and energy storage operators and power users act as followers. A Bi-Level programming model is employed to solve the multi-agent game, and equilibrium strategies of each stakeholder are analyzed. Distribution network operators aims to maximize operational efficiency by formulating time-of-use price strategies, while energy storage operators and power users adjust their charging, discharging, and consumption strategies to maximize profits and minimize electricity costs. It emphasizes the importance of considering user satisfaction alongside economic costs when examining their electricity consumption. Simulation scenarios demonstrate that the proposed model enhances stakeholder benefits and societal welfare. Energy storage operators increase the depth of its own charging and discharging strategies in pursuit of maximizing benefits, resulting in a lower peak-valley transfer rate on load. Considering the interests of all stakeholders, the benefits of energy storage operators and power users are increased by 29.58 % and 20.07 % respectively, and the benefits of distribution grid companies are reduced by 18.97 %, but the total social profit is increased by 26.11 % while the cost of user satisfaction reduced by 43.78 %.© 2017 Elsevier Inc. Both raising the breakdown electric field (E b) and suppressing premature polarization saturation are regarded as effective methods to improve the energy storage performance of (Bi 0.5 Na 0.5) 0.7 Sr 0.3 TiO 3 (BNST)-based materials. In this study, delayed saturation polarization combined with increased E b significantly result in a high recoverable energy density (W rec) of 6.3 J/cm3 and an efficiency (η) of 86 % in 0.85(Bi 0.5 Na 0.5) 0.7 Sr 0.3 TiO 3 -0.15Ca (Mg 1/3 Sb 2/3) O 3 (CMS) ceramics. The enhancement of the performance is mainly attributed to the improved relaxation behavior, the increase of P 4 bm (T) phase content (reducing residual polarization), reduced grain size, and lower oxygen vacancies concentration (increasing E b). At the same time, in the range of 20–200 °C and 1–240 Hz, the changes of W rec and η of the ceramics are less than 12 % and 4.8 %, 8.9 %, and 4.4 %, respectively. It shows that 0.15CMS ceramic has excellent stability of temperature and frequency. In addition, 0.15CMS ceramic exhibits ultra-fast charge and discharge speeds (The time (t 0.9) required to discharge 90 % of the energy is 46.8 ns). The development and application of flexible electrodes with extended cycle life have long been a focal point in the field of energy research. In this study, positively charged polyethylene imine (PEI) and conductive polymer poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) with negative charge were alternately deposited onto a cellulose nanofiber (CNF) porous material utilizing pressure gradient-assisted layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly technology. The flexible substrate, characterized by a three-dimensional porous structure reinforced with stiff CNF, not only facilitated high charge storage but also enhanced the electrode's cycling life by reducing the volume changes of PEDOT:PSS. Furthermore, the exceptional wettability of PEI by the electrolyte could promote efficient charge transport within the electrode. The electrode with 10 PEI/PEDOT:PSS bilayer exhibits a capacitance of 63.71 F g−1 at the scan rate of 5 mV s−1 and a remarkable capacitance retention of 128 % after 3000 charge-discharge cycles. The investigation into the nanoscale layers of the LbL multilayer structure indicated that the exceptional cyclic performance was primarily attributed to the spatial constraints imposed by the rigid porous substrate layered structure on the deformation of PEDOT:PSS. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric review of hybrid offshore renewable energy sources (HORES) and their optimization methods over the past 24 years. The analysis highlights a significant increase in global publications on HORES, reflecting increasing demand on the resource utilization and environmental sustainability. Specifically, the number of publications on HORES has increased by approximately 70% from 2000 to 2023, indicating rising interest and research activity in this area. The findings show that classical optimization methods are reliable for optimization. However, the methods face limitations due to restricted parameters. In comparison, artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms provide optimal solutions with rapid convergence but require substantial computational resources. In recent years, China has started to vigorously promote the research of tidal energy power generation technology; and during site testing of tidal energy converters, the distributed tidal energy converters will produce a certain effect on the flow field of the sea area. In this paper, on the basis of a tidal current energy test site established in the sea area between Mount Putuo Island and Hulu Island in Zhoushan city, Zhejiang Province, a far-field mathematical model of a three-dimensional FVCOM model was established, and in conjunction with the TSE evaluation method optimized by incorporating flow characteristic parameters. Compared to traditional assessment methods, the research aims to mitigate the influence of shallow water high-flow-speed regions and complex terrain in the test site area. The efficient, economical and stable self-supported non-precious metal bifunctional catalytic electrode NiFe@NF is rapidly constructed via a mild (298 K) one-step 15 min electroplating method, and maintaining stability for 120 h at 1000 mA cm−2 in 1 M KOH + 0.5 M NaCl, demonstrates long-term stability at industrial-scale current densities. The FeNi@NF electrode catalyst the hydrogen/oxygen evolution reaction (HER/OER) in simulate seawater (1.0 M KOH + 0.5 M NaCl), and achieves the current density of 100 mA cm−2 with only 287 mV and 323 mV overpotential. The alkaline electrolyzer drives 100 mA cm−2 for overall water splitting at a low voltage of 1.73 V. More importantly, the catalytic performance durable for more than 5 days at the industrial current density (1000 mA cm−2), and the designed large-area 25.0 cm2 catalytic electrode can achieve stable operation of industrial proton exchange membrane electrolyser. • We revisit the topic of energy balance closure for FLUXNET sites and provides an update of techniques that are currently being developed. • We explain and quantify factors that affect energy balance closure when using eddy-covariance measurements. • Implications that the imbalance may cause on regional to global terrestrial assessments on heat and water vapour fluxes are discussed. The FLUXNET network with numerous eddy covariance stations distributed worldwide is an important backbone for the study of ecosystem-atmosphere interactions. In order to provide reliable data for a variety of related research fields all parts of the ecosystem-atmosphere interactions need to be fully captured. Energy balance closure can be an indicator that all fluxes are fully recorded. However, in an investigation of the FLUXNET data set over 20 years ago, a systematic imbalance of around 20 % was observed in the surface energy balance. By improving measurement instruments and arrangements as well as data post-processing, the imbalance was reduced to about 15 % within the following ten years. We show that the remaining imbalance has hardly changed to this day. In the meantime, it has become clear that the energy transport through mesoscale secondary circulations, which by definition cannot be captured with single-tower eddy covariance measurements, accounts for a large proportion of the remaining imbalance and leads to an underestimation of atmospheric energy fluxes. Storage changes, which have so far only been partially recorded, were also found to strongly contribute to the imbalance. In addition to recommendations for improving storage change measurements, we therefore present various energy balance closure approaches. These can be used to complement FLUXNET measurements by accounting for those flux contributions that cannot be captured by single-tower measurements or to parameterize the transport by secondary circulations in numerical weather and climate models. Another important finding in energy balance closure research is that secondary circulations contribute not only to energy transport but also to the transport of CO 2 and other substances, but more research is needed in this area. We conclude that research into energy balance closure problem has made great progress in recent years, which is crucial for investigating the role of ecosystems in the Earth system. Energy poverty has received attention, but in-depth research on the relationship between new energy technology innovation and energy poverty is lacking. Using data from 30 Chinese provinces spanning 2006 to 2020, we examine the impact of new energy technology innovation on energy poverty in China. We collect provincial-level patent data and energy poverty evaluation indicators, categorizing them into four subsystems: energy use level, energy capacity, energy use structure, and energy investment management. Findings indicates: (1) New energy technology innovation significantly alleviates energy poverty in China. This is primarily attributed to improvements in energy supply and residents' income. (2) The effectiveness of new energy technology innovations in alleviating energy poverty is enhanced by provincial transportation development and technology market activity but diminished by urbanization. (3) New energy technology innovations lead to notable increases in energy use level and energy capacity, a decrease in energy use structure, and no significant impact on energy investment management. (4) Innovations from enterprises, university and research institutes significantly contribute to alleviating China's energy poverty. However, innovations from industry-university-research collaborations and other innovators do not significantly affect China's energy poverty. To predict the thermal hydraulic behavior in nuclear power plants, traditional system codes such as RELAP, MARS, and CATHARE, designed for one-dimensional two-phase flows, have been employed. However, these codes face limitations in simulating unknown phenomena or new geometries, highlighting the need for advanced three-dimensional simulations for the safety analysis of reactors, especially small modular reactors with passive safety systems. Recent efforts in multidimensional thermal hydraulic analysis have employed various codes for specific scenarios, such as pressurized thermal shock and hydrogen distribution in containment vessels. Consequently, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has developed the CUPID code since 2007, which utilizes a two-fluid, three-field model on unstructured grids, enabling efficient large-scale simulations through MPI-based parallelization. Despite its successes, the computational efficiency of pressure-based solvers, which consume a significant portion of simulation time, is identified as a crucial area for improvement. This study introduces and verifies the meshless Geometric Multi Grid (GMG) technique, a novel approach to enhance the efficiency of solving the pressure correction equation on unstructured grids. Wrist-worn energy harvesters have great potential to sustainably power wearable devices for the Internet of Things. Previous research improved their energy conversion efficiency by structural designs and smart materials, however, arm swing motion's influence on their power generation was underexplored. To fill this gap, we establish a dynamic model of the human-wrist-energy harvester during human walking. Our model highlights the positive impact of body accelerations and arm swing motions on a rotational electret energy harvester (REEH). Leveraging a dataset of 300 participants (150 female and 150 male) and diverse machine learning approaches, we establish an accurate data-driven model for parameters prediction of arm swing motions by Random Forest regression (RFR) method. Furthermore, experimental results demonstrate the proposed model outperforms the previous linear regression model for the prediction of arm swing motions, additionally, the output power is 0.46 mW under the normal walking speed (1.45 m/s) which is sufficient to power a wearable device. Moreover, the numerical results reveal that adjusting the surface voltage or gap distance can enhance the output power for the realization of a self-powered wrist-worn device. A promising radioactive source for use in intracavitary brachytherapy is phosphorus-32. This source has been prominent as a minimally invasive treatment for craniopharyngiomas and in the treatment of metastatic bone diseases in general and has been developed at Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN). In this work, a Monte Carlo simulation was used to evaluate the ideal activity this source must have to deliver a 1 Gy/min dose rate. TOPAS was used to model the simulation, and its geometry was simulated with the source centered in the origin point, inserted into an isotropic volume of water of 17.42 cm3. The source has the decay properties of phosphorus-32. The total dose was calculated using volumetric scorers. The results were promising, showing that the initial activity must be 86.14 mCi or 2871 MBq to obtain the 1 Gy/min dose rate. With the initial activity measured in this work, it is possible to minimize the patient's exposure to radiation, while ensuring the quality of the treatment. • Monte Carlo simulation of a 32P polymeric flexible source to calculate its activity. • Study establishes 2871 MBq as the ideal initial activity for 1 Gy/min dose rate. • Findings facilitate source production. The battery-supercapacitor hybrid, an asymmetric energy storage system, has garnered considerable attention due to its outstanding energy storage capabilities. Anodic materials have become a central focus, driven by the quest for enhanced energy density, power density, cycle life, and overall performance. In this study, we have synthesized copper-based para -phthalic acid (PTA) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) via a facile hydrothermal method to be employed as the positive electrode material in a battery-supercapacitor hybrid matrix. The initial testing indicates the battery-type nature of the prepared electrode along with maximum specific capacity of 260.5 C g−1 at 0.7 A g−1. Subjection of Cu-PTA MOF electrode to real device configuration (Super-capattery device) results in considerable specific capacity of 152.2 C g−1 along with specific energy and power of 35.9 Wh kg−1 and 5950 W kg−1, respectively at 0.3 A g−1. The device also demonstrated a stability potential of 92.15 % when tested for 5000 continuous charge-discharge cycles. Controlling the sustained growth of energy consumption is a common concern worldwide. This research focuses on energy consumption in the "Belt and Road Initiative" (BRI) countries, which play a crucial role in shaping the global energy market, to enhance energy cooperation among them. Our methodology involves analyzing the spatial-temporal energy cooperation pattern among these countries, identifying the main drivers, and forecasting the future scale and structure of energy consumption in each BRI country. The results show that: (1) Following the "Belt and Road Initiative", energy cooperation among BRI countries has been strengthened, with Poland, the Russian Federation, and India playing more vital roles in this cooperation network; (2) Affluent level and energy intensity are the main drivers of energy consumption. The former contributes to the growth of energy consumption and is relatively more important in developing BRI countries, while the latter shows adverse effects, especially in more developed BRI countries. Population scale also contributes to the growth of energy consumption, but its effect is minor and diminishing; (3) Future energy consumption in BRI countries shows an overall upward trend. Reducing energy consumption will still be a major challenge confronting BRI countries, especially China, the Russian Federation, India, and Indonesia. • Spatial-temporal pattern in energy cooperation among BRI countries is investigated. • Future trend of energy consumption and cooperation in BRI countries is forecasted. • Affluent level is more important in energy consumption of developing BRI countries. • Effects of population scale on energy consumption is small and diminishing. • Tailored recommendations for different categories of countries are put forward. The importance of biomass energy and the challenges of the sector in Sub-Saharan Africa has for a long time been the subject of considerable research. Unfortunately, the results of this work remain scattered and fragmented. This study aims to assess the current state of knowledge on the use and production of bioenergy in sub-Saharan Africa in order to guide the actors involved in the modernization process. The study is based on a cross-analysis of scientific publications on bioenergy for this region. The publications obtained are divided into predefined thematics, year of publication and geographical origin of the research centers. Statistical processing, especially Principal Component Analysis was carried out to establish a link between the countries of the research centers and the addressed thematic. The results showed that 2009 is a pivotal year for research in the field of bioenergy in Sub-Saharan Africa. France has been identified as the country most involved in research into the development of bioenergy in the region. Despite modernization efforts, the production and use of biomass for energy purposes in Sub-Saharan Africa remains traditional. However, the study reveals that apart from wood which is becoming scarce, Sub-Saharan Africa has many biomass ressources with high energy potential which can significantly contribute to satisfying local energy needs. Unfortunately, their valorization into modern renewable energy remains embryonic. The challenges to be met are 40 % technological, 32 % land-related and 28 % socio-political. A replicable bioenergy modernization assessment tool baptized "3P concept" based on nine objective criteria is developed. The tensegrity structure is prestressed spatial structure composed of rods and cables. Its multistable phenomenon brings great research potential in energy storage and robotic. In order to completely analyze the changes of configurations and mechanical property in stable state transformation (SST) processes of multistable tensegrity structures, a whole-process tracking (WPT) method based on Levenberg-Marquardt method is proposed. Three numerical examples are calculated, and the WPT is successfully realized, which proves the feasibility and universality of proposed WPT method. According to the calculation results, the variation of the driving force and elastic strain energy during SST are further summarized. Alternatively, different types of driving-paths are investigated, the results show that mechanical property during SST could be adjusted effectively by modifying the driving-path. The Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN-CNEN/SP) currently employs manual external u-shape frame micrometers with non-rotating spindles, and chamfered measuring anvils at 21 pre-defined points to control the thickness of its fuel plates. However, it is acknowledged that this method introduces the human element into the measurement process, potentially compromising result accuracy and the integrity of the fuel plates' surfaces. This research introduces a novel thickness measurement method and an accompanying automated device featuring precise movement mechanisms, data capture, transcription, and processing. Our findings emphasize the effectiveness of this new measurement system and the structural integrity of the equipment, highlighting its potential to significantly enhance both the speed and metrological reliability of dimensional control processes for nuclear fuel plates manufactured at IPEN-CNEN/SP. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in analyzing text data from different scientific fields. The significant advancement of Artificial Intelligence in Natural Language Processing enables a systematic categorization of the wealth of scientific papers into fundamental thematic clusters. In this context, topic modeling is playing a crucial role. Unfortunately, the comparative analysis between traditional and advanced topic modeling methods, including well-established techniques like Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and newer approaches like BERTopic, remains significantly underexplored. This study addresses this gap by conducting a comprehensive analysis of extensive text data focused on sustainable energy research. To achieve this, we compile a unique dataset consisting of thousands of abstracts sourced from PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Our analysis involves a comparison between LDA and the transformer model BERTopic. Importantly, we introduce a novel approach to determine the optimal number of topics, achieved through the maximization of combined semantic scores, and show that the number of topics is considerably lower than from previous approaches. This paper suggests a synthetization of three classic approaches to analyze infrastructures as interconnected compositions that subtly distribute power and governance. We draw upon conceptualizations within large technological systems (LTS), Internet governance, and information infrastructures (II) and connect them to our own extensive research in energy infrastructure and systems spanning over a decade. This combination serves as the bedrock for our methodological work, which we establish here as pivotal signposts for the study of governance by infrastructures. Rooted empirically in energy research, we advocate for scholars to expand these methodologies to other infrastructures, such as the Internet and II, to illustrate how governance operates across diverse infrastructural networks and their intersections. Our empirical examples draw from studies in smart grids and smart energy technologies, electricity supply management and markets, and energy computer modeling. This research aims to study the comprehensive identification of the synthesis, characterisation and performance tests of La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ (LSCF) and La0.7Sr0.3MnO3-δ (LSM) granule-form catalysts with a CeO₂ and NiO addition for the POM reaction. The LSCF and LSM powder were firstly prepared using the solid-state reaction method. The granules were firstly prepared in a form of pellet, then crushed and sieved into a size of ± 1mm. The performance study begins with a pre-treated process, by flowing 5% O₂ gas (30 mL.min-1) in the fixed-bed reactor at 600 °C. The product was analysed using Agilent HP 6890 gas chromatography equipped with an Agilent HP 19095P-Q04 column and a FID detector. The results showed that the LSCF achieved 50.03% methane conversion which is lower than the LSM performance of 56.41%. The CeO₂ addition in both the LSCF and LSM revealed an increasing performance by increasing the reaction time. NiO addition resulted in a slower increase in the reaction time, which can be caused by the rate of carbon deposition formation. Based on the obtained results, the bifunctional catalyst has the potential to be developed into another module with a larger effective surface area, such as a multiple-thin layer membrane or hollow fibre membrane.

Summary: In this study, a geothermal energy‐based integrated gasification combined cycle is incorporated with an anaerobic digestion unit to produce multiple useful commodities to create a circular economy for a sustainable community. This proposed system aims to utilize non‐recyclable and unfavorable plastics, which leave material recovery facilities as a feedstock in the gasification unit to produce hydrogen, hydrogen sulfur, and electricity. Further energy is recovered in the heat recovery heat exchanger to meet the optimum temperature in the digesters where wastewater sludge is utilized to generate biogas and lower‐grade compost for agricultural applications. The Durham Region in the Province of Ontario is selected to be the case location to meet the increased energy demand as a result of the growing population. Two software packages, namely Aspen Plus and Engineering Equation Solver, are used to completing the thermodynamic simulations and analyses for this system. Some parametric studies are also carried out to investigate its feasibility under different conditions and find the optimum working conditions for the integrated gasification combined cycle. Accordingly, gasification operating temperature, steam feed rate, oxygen feed rate, and carbon content in biomass are varied in both the integrated gasification combined cycle and anaerobic digestion facilities. In the proposed system, hydrogen‐to‐fuel and biogas‐to‐biomass ratios are observed to be 0.192 and 0.57, respectively, while the daily total energy delivered to the community from this integrated system is calculated to be 2.7 GWh. The overall energy and exergy efficiencies of the proposed waste management system at the chosen operating conditions are determined to be 28.1% and 30.2%, respectively. As a result of the dynamic simulations where the steam rate is varied in the gasification reactor, the energy and exergy efficiencies are determined to be 33.7% and 36.2% at the steam rate of 10 kg/s.
