Qisheng Wan formula (QWF) was first described in the book Sheng Ji Zong Lu in 1117. The book states that QWF can cure forgetfulness, improve the mind, and make people smart. Hence, QWF has been widely used to treat patients with forgetfulness or dementia. QWF, a classic Chinese formulation, comprises seven herbal drugs: the sclerotium of Poria cocos (Schw.) Wolf, bark of Cinnamomum cassia Presl, root of Polygala tenuifolia Willd., root and rhizome of Panax ginseng C. A. Mey., root of Asparagus cochinchinensis (Lour.) Merr., root and rhizome of Acorus tatarinowii Schott, and root bark of Lycium chinense Mill. This study aimed to utilize modern pharmacological methods to evaluate the therapeutic effects and explore the underlying mechanism of QWF action on rats with Alzheimer's disease (AD). The chemical profile of QWF was characterized using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The AD rat model was established via a bilateral intraventricular injection of amyloid-β (1–42) (Aβ 1–42). The rats were subsequently treated daily with QWF for 4 weeks. The Morris water maze test was performed to evaluate the cognition processes in the rats, whereas histological changes in the hippocampus were observed using hematoxylin and eosin staining. The expression levels of Aβ 1–42 , nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and interleukin (IL)-6 in the hippocampus and colon were assessed. Moreover, the diversity and composition of the intestinal microbiota were analyzed using 16S rDNA gene sequencing. One hundred and fourteen compounds were characterized in QWF. QWF significantly ameliorated the cognition processes and histopathological damages due to AD in rats by decreasing the deposition of Aβ 1-42 and downregulating the expression of NF-κB, TNF-α, and IL-6. QWF also modulated changes in the diversity and composition of intestinal microbiota to suppress the relative abundance of inflammation-associated microbiota. Hyperbilirubinemia in newborns may progress to acute bilirubin encephalopathy (ABE), posing short- and long-term health risks. Despite extensive research identifying numerous mRNAs, lncRNAs, circRNAs, and miRNAs associated with brain injury, their roles in neonatal bilirubin-induced brain injury remain elusive. This study employed whole-transcriptome sequencing to ascertain the differentially expressed (DE) RNA profiles in a newborn ABE rat model, followed by bioinformatic analysis. A time-series competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulatory network was established, and the expression trends of 9 arbitrarily chosen RNAs were verified through quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR). In comparison with the control group, we identified 595, 888, and 1448 DE mRNAs; 22, 37, and 37 DE miRNAs; 1945, 1869, and 1997 DE lncRNAs; and 31, 28, and 36 DE circRNAs at 6 h, 12 h, and 24 h, respectively. Predominantly, these DERNAs contribute to biological functions and pathways associated with inflammation, immunity, metabolism, cell death, and neurodevelopmental regulation. Moreover, we constructed ceRNA networks of DE lncRNA/circRNA-DE miRNA-DE mRNA based on time series. The qRT-PCR expression trends for the selected 9 RNAs were generally similar to the RNA-seq outcomes. This investigation uniquely delineated the temporal expression patterns of mRNA and non-coding RNA in ABE, establishing ceRNA networks and identifying potential molecular mechanisms underlying bilirubin-induced hippocampal damage. Background: Influenza B virus induced myocarditis is a rare complication with potentially wide variations in severity and clinical presentation, and the pathogenesis is unclear., Case Presentation: We describe a rare case of a 7-year-old boy who developed fulminant myocarditis (FM) due to influenza B virus infection. Treatment measures included mechanical ventilation, vasoactive agents, Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-infection, and enteral nutrition support. After 10 days of treatment, the patient succumbed to multiorgan failure., Conclusions: After a systematic review of the literature, we found that this disease predominantly affects females, with pediatric cases exceedingly rare. Fulminant myocarditis (FM) progresses rapidly, poses significant treatment challenges sporadic, and carries a poor prognosis. Interestingly, literature reports suggest that anti-thymocyte globulin therapy may have a positive impact in treating FM, potentially offering new insights into its pathogenesis and clinical management., (© 2024. The land use change is the primary factor in influencing the regional carbon emissions. Studying the effects of land use change on carbon emissions can provide supports for the development policies of carbon emission. Using land use and energy consumption data, this study measures carbon emissions from land use dynamics in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region from 2000 to 2020. The standard deviation ellipse model is employed to investigate the distribution characteristics of the spatial patterns of carbon emissions, while the Geographically and Temporally Weighted Regression (GTWR) model is used to examine the contributing factors of carbon emissions and their spatial and temporal heterogeneity. Results indicate a consistently increasing trend in carbon emissions from land use in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region from 2000 to 2020. Construction land is characterized with both the primary source and an increasing intensity of carbon emissions. Besides, the spatial distribution of carbon emissions from land use in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region demonstrates an aggregation pattern from in the northeast-southwest direction towards the center, with a greater aggregation trend in the east-west direction compared to that in the south-north direction. During the study period, a positive correlation was documented between carbon emissions and factors including total population, economic development level, land use degree, and landscape patterns. This correlation showed a decreasing trend and reached a stable level at the end of the study period. Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) exhibit excellent flame retardant properties and are widely used in various industries. Among the common BFRs, tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDs) pose substantial ecological and human health risks due to their extensive application and long-range transport. This study established 131 sample collection sites along the coast of the South China Sea (SCS) in Guangdong Province to assess the concentration, distribution, inventory, and ecological risk of TBBPA and HBCDs in surface sediments. The concentrations of TBBPA in SCS sediments ranged from < limit of detection (LOD) to 80 μg/kg dry weight (dw), and those of HBCDs from < LOD to 18 μg/kg dw. The diastereoisomers of HBCDs (α-, β-, and γ-HBCD) in the sediment samples accounted for 36 %, 13 %, and 51 %, respectively. Human activities, particularly those associated with nearby electronic waste disassembly and textile and garment industries, considerably influenced the dispersion of TBBPA and HBCDs. The inventories of TBBPA and HBCDs in Guangdong Province's SCS were estimated to be 3.2 × 10 5  kg and 7.2 × 10 4  kg, respectively. The average risk quotient values ranged from <0.01 to 0.016, indicating a low to negligible environmental risk. To non-destructively and rapidly monitor the chlorophyll content of winter wheat leaves under CO 2 microleakage stress, and to establish the quantitative relationship between chlorophyll content and sensitive bands in the winter wheat growing season from 2023 to 2024, the leakage rate was set to 1 L/min, 3 L/min, 5 L/min, and 0 L/min through field experiments. The dimensional reduction was realized, fractional differential processing of a wheat canopy spectrum was carried out, a multiple linear regression (MLR) and partial least squares regression (PLSR) estimation model was constructed using a SPA selection band, and the model's accuracy was evaluated. The optimal model for hyperspectral estimation of wheat SPAD under CO 2 microleakage stress was screened. The results show that the spectral curves of winter wheat leaves under CO 2 microleakage stress showed a "red shift" of the green peak and a "blue shift" of the red edge. Compared with 1 L/min and 3 L/min, wheat leaves were more affected by CO 2 at 5 L/min. Evaluation of the accuracy of the MLR and PLSR models shows that the MLR model is better, where the MLR estimation model based on 1.1, 1.8, 0.4, and 1.7 differential SPAD is the best for leakage rates of 1 L/min, 3 L/min, 5 L/min, and 0 L/min, with validation set R 2 of 0.832, 0.760, 0.928, and 0.773, which are 11.528, 14.2, 17.048, and 37.3% higher than the raw spectra, respectively. This method can be used to estimate the chlorophyll content of winter wheat leaves under CO 2 trace-leakage stress and to dynamically monitor CO 2 trace-leakage stress in crops.

Given the persistent ambiguity regarding the etiology of neonatal stroke across diverse origins, our objective was to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of both qualitative and quantitative risk factors. An exhaustive search of eight databases was executed to amass all pertinent observational studies concerning risk factors for neonatal stroke from various origins. Subsequent to independent screening, data extraction, and bias assessment by two researchers, a meta-analysis was conducted utilizing RevMan and Stata software. Nineteen studies, encompassing a total of 30 factors, were incorporated into this analysis. Beyond established risk factors, our investigation unveiled gestational diabetes (OR, 5.51; P < 0.00001), a history of infertility (OR, 2.44; P < 0.05), placenta previa (OR, 3.92; P = 0.02), postdates (OR, 2.07; P = 0.01), preterm labor (OR, 2.32; P < 0.00001), premature rupture of membranes (OR, 3.02; P = 0.007), a prolonged second stage of labor (OR, 3.94; P < 0.00001), and chorioamnionitis (OR, 4.35; P < 0.00001) as potential risk factors for neonatal cerebral arterial ischemic stroke. Additionally, postdates (OR, 4.31; P = 0.003), preterm labor (OR, 1.60; P < 0.00001), an abnormal CTG tracing (OR, 9.32; P < 0.0001), cesarean section (OR, 4.29; P = 0.0004), male gender (OR, 1.73; P = 0.02), and vaginal delivery (OR, 1.39; P < 0.00001) were associated with an elevated risk for neonatal hemorrhagic stroke., Conclusions: This study provides a succinct overview and comparative analysis of maternal, perinatal, and additional risk factors associated with neonatal cerebral artery ischemic stroke and neonatal hemorrhagic stroke, furnishing critical insights for healthcare practitioners involved in the diagnosis and prevention of neonatal stroke. This research also broadens the conceptual framework for future investigations., What Is Known: • Research indicates that prenatal, perinatal, and neonatal risk factors can elevate the risk of neonatal arterial ischemic stroke (NAIS). Notably, our analysis elucidates eight risk factors associated with NAIS: gestational diabetes mellitus, a history of infertility, placenta previa, postdates, preterm birth, premature rupture of membranes, a prolonged second stage of labor, and chorioamnionitis. Massive amount of food waste has been generated annually, posing a threat to ecological sustainability and the social economy due to current disposal methods. Urgent action is needed worldwide to convert the traditional pathway for treating food waste into a sustainable bioeconomy, as this will significantly benefit food chain management. This study explores the use of pyrolysis to produce different types of food waste biochars and investigates their adsorption capabilities for removing Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ in aqueous solution. The results indicated that co-pyrolysis biochar from fresh food waste and rice husk (FWRB) exhibited superior adsorption performance for Cd 2+ (61.84 mg·g -1 ) and Pb 2+ (245.52 mg·g -1 ), respectively. Pseudo-second-order kinetics (0.74 ≤ R 2  ≤ 0.98) and Langmuir isotherms (0.87 ≤ R 2  ≤ 0.98) indicated that the immobilized Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ on biochars were mainly attributed to the chemisorption, including precipitation with minerals (e.g., carbonates, silicates, and phosphate), complexation with functional groups (-OH), cation exchange (-COO - ), and coordination with π-electrons. Furthermore, FWRB demonstrated reduced EC and Na content in comparison to food waste digestate biochar (FWDB) and food waste digestate co-pyrolysis with sawdust biochar (FWSB), with levels of Cd and Pb falling below China's current guideline thresholds. Cross-shareholding has played an important role in strengthening strategic synergy among enterprises, but its impact on the green development of enterprises is unclear. In this paper, we construct an analytical framework that includes a manufacturer and a retailer to explore the impact of cross-shareholdings under different leaderships on green supply chain operational decisions and profits, in which the manufacturer invests in green technologies and the retailer conducts green marketing. By constructing and solving the game model of manufacturer-led and retailer-led before and after cross-shareholding, it is found that after cross-shareholding, the product's green level and the retailers' marketing level are improved. For supply chain leaders, cross-shareholdings always increase their profits. Only when the follower holds the leader's shares no more than a certain value, cross-shareholding will increase the total profit of the supply chain. In addition, we obtain the optimal decisions and profits of the supply chain in the integrated situation and design two-part pricing contracts to achieve cross-shareholding supply chain coordination. The results of this paper can provide theoretical guidance and decision support for enterprises interested in using cross-shareholding to improve supply chain performance., (© 2022. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have recently emerged as appealing platforms to construct microlasers owing to their compelling characters combining the excellent stability of inorganic materials and processable characters of organic materials. However, MOF microstructures developed thus far are generally composed of multiple edge boundaries due to their crystalline nature, which consequently raises significant scattering losses that are detrimental to lasing performance. In this work, we propose a strategy to overcome the above drawback by designing spherically shaped MOFs microcavities. Such spherical MOF microstructures are constructed by amorphizing MOFs with a topological distortion network through introducing flexible building blocks into the growth environment. With an ultra-smooth surface and excellent circular boundaries, the acquired spherical microcavities possess a Q factor as high as ≈10 4 and can provide sufficient feedback for high-quality single-mode lasing oscillations.
