Abstract

This paper deals with the issue of virtual design of a motor-toggle servomechanism for injection-molding machines. Based on the 3D CAD of multi-body system, a five-point-type toggle mechanism has been developed with clamping force build-up. Prior to controller design, open-loop responses are obtained to derive a transfer function. In order to accommodate mismatches between the real plant and the linear model used, a discrete-time sliding function is defined and combined with PID control. The uncertainty in the mass of moving platen and the Coulomb friction at pin joints are considered for robust motion control applications. Through the use of proposed control scheme, not only significant reduction in position error at moving platen but also clamping force build-up is achieved appropriately. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A bimodal ultrasonic motor containing only one power amplifier and which makes use of two simultaneously excited modes to drive the rotor was described. The forced vibrations of the stator in contact with and without a rotor were investigated. The equations of motion that describes the vibrations and contact behavior were derived by Hamilton's principle and the geometry constraint. Some important factors, including structure design, exciting frequency, contact behavior and phase displacement were considered for bimodal ultrasonic motor design.

Abstract

Abstract: This paper focuses on the development and manufacture of an automated optical inspection (AOI) system for light emitting diode (LED) properties, which include the luminance and forward voltage. We use the concept of graphic supervisory control to combine LabVIEW software and programmable logic controller (PLC) for the motion control. By connecting the analog input block, PLC would read the forward voltage to judge whether this value is too large or not. In LED optical inspection, LabVIEW software is employed to coordinate charge coupled device (CCD) camera interface in acquiring data and processing image analysis. The LED luminance is inspected according to whether or not it achieves the desired standard pixels of binary morphologic area. In the inspection process, LEDs quickly advance on rail, and a pneumatic cylinder will sort them into different storages by PLC. The system characteristics mainly include automated platform control and imaging inspection. From experiments, the LED inspection speed could achieve 40–45 pieces per minute. For luminance inspection, the rate of accuracy approaches 100% when the inspection in a dark room or the brightness of exterior environments is fixed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
