Abstract Recent progress on the signatures of pressure-induced high-temperature superconductivity in Ruddlesden–Popper (RP) nickelates (La n+1Ni n O3n+1) has attracted growing interest in both theoretical calculations and experimental efforts. The fabrication of high-quality single-crystalline RP nickelate thin films is critical for possible reducing the superconducting transition pressure and advancing applications in microelectronics in the future. In this study, we report the observations of an active phase transition in RP nickelate films induced by misfit strain. We found that RP nickelate films favor the perovskite structure (n = ∞) under tensile strains, while compressive strains stabilize the La3Ni2O7 (n = 2) phase. The selection of distinct phases is governed by the strain dependent formation energy and electronic configuration. In compressively strained La3Ni2O7, we experimentally determined the e g splitting energy is ~0.2 eV and electrons prefer to occupy in-plane orbitals. First-principles calculations unveil a robust coupling between strain effects and the valence state of Ni ions in RP nickelates, suggesting a dual driving force for the inevitable phase co-existence transition in RP nickelates. Our work underscores the sensitivity of RP nickelate formation to epitaxial strain, presenting a significant challenge in fabricating pure-phase RP nickelate films. Therefore, special attention to stacking defects and grain boundaries between different RP phases is essential when discussing the pressure-induced superconductivity in RP nickelates.

Abstract An accurate understanding of the heat transfer of water through rock fractures is essential for the extraction and utilization of thermal energy from high‐temperature rock masses. A systematic numerical simulation based on the double‐rough‐walled model has been presented to investigate the shear effect on convective heat transfer in rough rock fractures. On the basis of the modified successive random additions algorithm, four different self‐affine surfaces were generated and utilized to establish the 3D double‐rough‐walled fracture models. The fluid flow and heat transfer were simulated by directly solving the Navier–Stokes equation and energy conservation equation, respectively. The combined effects of shear and surface roughness on the heat transfer were investigated. The results show that the heat within rough‐walled fractures transfers preferentially along the main fluid flow channels, and the areas of fast and slow thermal transmission fit well with the high‐ and low‐flow regions, respectively. As shear advances, the heat transfer coefficient firstly increases, then decreases slightly and finally stabilizes within a certain range, in which stabilization occurs earlier in fracture with a larger joint roughness coefficient. The effect of surface roughness on heat transfer shows an opposite trend during shearing. When the shear displacement is small, the enhancement effect of surface roughness that provides larger heat transfer areas dominates the heat transfer. As shear displacement continues to increase, this enhancement effect will be gradually weakened until the decreasing effect that bumps on the rough‐walled surface hinder the fluid flow dominates the heat transfer.

Abstract Background While circulating metabolites have been increasingly linked to cancer risk, the causality underlying these associations remains largely uninterrogated. Methods We conducted a comprehensive 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study to evaluate the potential causal relationship between 913 plasma metabolites and the risk of seven cancers among European-ancestry individuals. Data on variant-metabolite associations were obtained from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of plasma metabolites among 14,296 subjects. Data on variant-cancer associations were gathered from large-scale GWAS consortia for breast (N = 266,081), colorectal (N = 185,616), lung (N = 85,716), ovarian (N = 63,347), prostate (N = 140,306), renal cell (N = 31,190), and testicular germ cell (N = 28,135) cancers. Abstract The sterile insect technique is based on the overflooding of a target population with released sterile males inducing sterility in the wild female population. It has proven to be effective against several insect pest species of agricultural and veterinary importance and is under development for Aedes mosquitoes. Here, we show that the release of sterile males at high sterile male to wild female ratios may also impact the target female population through mating harassment. Under laboratory conditions, male to female ratios above 50 to 1 reduce the longevity of female Aedes mosquitoes by reducing their feeding success. Under controlled conditions, blood uptake of females from an artificial host or from a mouse and biting rates on humans are also reduced. Finally, in a field trial conducted in a 1.17 ha area in China, the female biting rate is reduced by 80%, concurrent to a reduction of female mosquito density of 40% due to the swarming of males around humans attempting to mate with the female mosquitoes. This suggests that the sterile insect technique does not only suppress mosquito vector populations through the induction of sterility, but may also reduce disease transmission due to increased female mortality and lower host contact.

Abstract Background Pulmonary oligometastases are common in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), however, the existing therapeutic options have several limitations. This study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of microwave ablation (MWA) in the treatment of HCC-originating pulmonary oligometastases. Methods A total of 83 patients, comprising 73 males and 10 females with a median age of 57 years, who had pulmonary oligometastases from HCC, underwent MWA treatment at four different medical institutions. Inclusion criteria for patients involved having primary HCC under control and having less than three oligometastases with a maximum diameter of ≤ 5 cm in the unilateral lung or less than five oligometastases with a maximum diameter of ≤ 3 cm in the bilateral lung. A total of 147 tumors were treated with MWA over 116 sessions. The primary endpoints assessed included technical success, treatment efficacy, and local progression rate, while secondary endpoints encompassed complications, clinical outcomes, overall survival (OS), local progression-free survival (LPFS), and prognostic factors. Results The technical success rate for MWA was 100% (116/116 sessions), and the treatment efficacy rate was 82.3% (121/147 tumors). Six months after MWA, the local progression rate was 23.1% (18/147 tumors). Complications were observed in 10.3% (major) and 47.4% (minor) of the 116 sessions, with no cases of ablation-related deaths. The median follow-up period was 21.6 months (range: 5.7–87.8 months). Median OS was 22.0 months, and the 1-, 2-, and 3-year OS rates were 82.6%, 44.5%, and 25.2%, respectively. Median LPFS was 8.5 months. Multivariate Cox regression analysis identified α-fetoprotein (AFP) levels during initial diagnosis and the number of oligometastases as potential independent prognostic factors for OS (p = 0.017 and 0.045, respectively). Conclusion Percutaneous MWA is a safe and effective treatment modality for pulmonary oligometastases originating from HCC.

Carbon-based quantum dots (CQDs) have been shown to have promising application value in tumor diagnosis. Their use, however, is severely hindered by the complicated nature of the nanostructures in the CQDs. Furthermore, it seems impossible to formulate the mechanisms involved using the inadequate theoretical frameworks that are currently available for CQDs. In this review, we re-consider the structure-property relationships of CQDs and summarize the current state of development of CQDs-based tumor diagnosis based on biological theories that are fully developed. The advantages and deficiencies of recent research on CQDs-based tumor diagnosis are thus explained in terms of the manifestation of nine essential changes in cell physiology. This review makes significant progress in addressing related problems encountered with other nanomaterials.

Identified as the pathogenic genes of Alzheimer's disease (AD), APP, PSEN1, and PSEN2 mainly lead to early-onset AD, whose course is more aggressive, and atypical symptoms are more common than sporadic AD. Here, a novel missense mutation, APP E674Q (also named “Shanghai APP”), was detected in a Chinese index patient with typical late-onset AD (LOAD) who developed memory decline in his mid-70s. The results from neuroimaging were consistent with AD, where widespread amyloid β deposition was demonstrated in 18F-florbetapir Positron Emission Tomography (PET). APP E674Q is close to the β-secretase cleavage site and the well-studied Swedish APP mutation (KM670/671NL), which was predicted to be pathogenic in silico. Molecular dynamics simulation indicated that the E674Q mutation resulted in a rearrangement of the interaction mode between APP and BACE1 and that the E674Q mutation was more prone to cleavage by BACE1. The in vitro results suggested that the E674Q mutation was pathogenic by facilitating the BACE1-mediated processing of APP and the production of Aβ. Furthermore, we applied an adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated transfer of the human E674Q mutant APP gene to the hippocampi of two-month-old C57Bl/6 J mice. AAV-E674Q-injected mice exhibited impaired learning behavior and increased pathological burden in the brain, implying that the E674Q mutation had a pathogenicity that bore a comparison with the classical Swedish mutation. Collectively, we report a strong amyloidogenic effect of the E674Q substitution in AD. To our knowledge, E674Q is the only pathogenic mutation within the amyloid processing sequence causing LOAD.

Abstract Background The relationship between periodontitis and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has attracted more attention recently, whereas profiles of subgingival microbiomes and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) metabolic signatures in AD patients have rarely been characterized; thus, little evidence exists to support the oral-brain axis hypothesis. Therefore, our study aimed to characterize both the microbial community of subgingival plaque and the metabolomic profiles of GCF in patients with AD and amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) for the first time. Methods This was a cross-sectional study. Clinical examinations were performed on all participants. The microbial community of subgingival plaque and the metabolomic profiles of GCF were characterized using the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene high-throughput sequencing and liquid chromatography linked to tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) analysis, respectively. Results Thirty-two patients with AD, 32 patients with aMCI, and 32 cognitively normal people were enrolled. The severity of periodontitis was significantly increased in AD patients compared with aMCI patients and cognitively normal people. The 16S rRNA gene sequencing results showed that the relative abundances of 16 species in subgingival plaque were significantly correlated with cognitive function, and LC–MS/MS analysis identified a total of 165 differentially abundant metabolites in GCF. Moreover, multiomics Data Integration Analysis for Biomarker discovery using Latent cOmponents (DIABLO) analysis revealed that 19 differentially abundant metabolites were significantly correlated with Veillonella parvula, Dialister pneumosintes, Leptotrichia buccalis, Pseudoleptotrichia goodfellowii, and Actinomyces massiliensis, in which galactinol, sn-glycerol 3-phosphoethanolamine, D-mannitol, 1 h-indole-1-pentanoic acid, 3-(1-naphthalenylcarbonyl)- and L-iditol yielded satisfactory accuracy for the predictive diagnosis of AD progression. Conclusions This is the first combined subgingival microbiome and GCF metabolome study in patients with AD and aMCI, which revealed that periodontal microbial dysbiosis and metabolic disorders may be involved in the etiology and progression of AD, and the differential abundance of the microbiota and metabolites may be useful as potential markers for AD in the future.

Abstract Although urban irrigation can modulate local hydrothermal conditions and mitigate urban heat island effects, its impact on moist heat stress (MHS) is poorly understood. Employing the Weather Research and Forecasting Single-Layer Urban Canopy Model (WRF-SLUCM), we evaluated the effect of urban irrigation on the MHS in Beijing, China, and found that the updated initial soil moisture (SM) field improved the simulation of temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed. Besides, urban irrigation reduced urban and rural MHS, and particularly reduced afternoon and evening MHS by up to 1.2 °C but increased morning MHS by up to 0.4 °C. In addition, the effect of different irrigation times on MHS showed that irrigation at 02 and 20 h increased urban and rural MHS, with the best cooling effect at 00 and 13 h, which reduced the MHS by up to 2.65 °C in urban areas and 0.71 °C in rural areas. The findings highlighted mechanistically the effect of urban irrigation on MHS and shed light on how to mitigate urban heat island effects on urban sustainable development.

Abstract To quickly determine the blasting block degree and conduct an accurate and objective analysis of the tunnel blasting effect, this study has enhanced and improved upon the traditional genetic algorithm and Otsu algorithm. It has combined it with the marking watershed method and utilized ground digital acquisition to capture images of blasting debris. These images are then used in our custom-developed blasting analysis software to calculate the blasting block degree distribution and provide a quantitative analysis of blasting block degree. The research results show that the optimized image segmentation algorithm effectively improves the traditional threshold segmentation method on the poor effect of segmentation of the edge of the adherent block or the direct application of the watershed segmentation of the over-segmentation problem, to improve the segmentation accuracy based on the new segmentation technology is close to the traditional technology in terms of time. Through the self-developed software, the construction personnel in the project site to quickly obtain the blasting block degree histogram, block degree cumulative curve and other important indicators of the evaluation of the effect of blasting block degree, to provide data support for on-site construction, to assist in the modification of the blasting program, and to improve the efficiency of construction. This study realizes the rapid detection and block identification of blasting blocks, provides data support for the optimization of blasting parameters, and has good application and promotion value.

Abstract Dipterocarpoideae species form the emergent layer of Asian rainforests. They are the indicator species for Asian rainforest distribution, but they are severely threatened. Here, to understand their adaptation and population decline, we assemble high-quality genomes of seven Dipterocarpoideae species including two autotetraploid species. We estimate the divergence time between Dipterocarpoideae and Malvaceae and within Dipterocarpoideae to be 108.2 (97.8‒118.2) and 88.4 (77.7‒102.9) million years ago, and we identify a whole genome duplication event preceding dipterocarp lineage diversification. We find several genes that showed a signature of selection, likely associated with the adaptation to Asian rainforests. By resequencing of two endangered species, we detect an expansion of effective population size after the last glacial period and a recent sharp decline coinciding with the history of local human activities. Our findings contribute to understanding the diversification and adaptation of dipterocarps and highlight anthropogenic disturbances as a major factor in their endangered status.

Abstract PRKN is a key gene involved in mitophagy in Parkinson’s disease. However, recent studies have demonstrated that it also plays a role in the development and metastasis of several types of cancers, both in a mitophagy-dependent and mitophagy-independent manner. Despite this, the potential effects and underlying mechanisms of Parkin on bladder cancer (BLCA) remain unknown. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the expression of Parkin in various BLCA cohorts derived from human. Here we show that PRKN expression was low and that PRKN acts as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting the proliferation and migration of BLCA cells in a mitophagy-independent manner. We further identified Catalase as a binding partner and substrate of Parkin, which is an important antioxidant enzyme that regulates intracellular ROS levels during cancer progression. Our data showed that knockdown of CAT led to increased intracellular ROS levels, which suppressed cell proliferation and migration. Conversely, upregulation of Catalase decreased intracellular ROS levels, promoting cell growth and migration. Importantly, we found that Parkin upregulation partially restored these effects. Moreover, we discovered that USP30, a known Parkin substrate, could deubiquitinate and stabilize Catalase. Overall, our study reveals a novel function of Parkin and identifies a potential therapeutic target in BLCA.

Objective: Neutrophils are one of the most predominant infiltrating leukocytes in lung cancer tissues and are associated with lung cancer progression. How neutrophils promote lung cancer progression, however, has not been established. Methods: Kaplan–Meier plotter online analysis and tissue immunohistochemistry were used to determine the relationship between neutrophils and overall survival in lung cancer patients. The effect of neutrophils on lung cancer was determined using the Transwell migration assay, a proliferation assay, and a murine tumor model. Gene knockdown was used to determine poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP)-1 function in lung cancer-educated neutrophils. Western blot analysis and gelatin zymography were used to demonstrate the correlation between PARP-1 and matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP-9). Immunoprecipitation coupled to mass spectrometry (IP/MS) was used to identify the proteins interacting with PARP-1. Co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) was used to confirm that PARP-1 interacts with arachidonate 5-lipooxygenase (ALOX5). Neutrophil PARP-1 blockage by AG14361 rescued neutrophil-promoted lung cancer progression. Results: An increased number of infiltrating neutrophils was negatively associated with overall survival in lung cancer patients (P < 0.001). Neutrophil activation promoted lung cancer cell invasion, migration, and proliferation in vitro, and murine lung cancer growth in vivo. Mechanistically, PARP-1 was shown to be involved in lung cancer cell-induced neutrophil activation to increase MMP-9 expression through interacting and stabilizing ALOX5 by post-translational protein modification (PARylation). Blocking PARP-1 by gene knockdown or AG14361 significantly decreased ALOX5 expression and MMP-9 production, and eliminated neutrophil-mediated lung cancer cell invasion and in vivo tumor growth. Conclusion: We identified a novel mechanism by which PARP-1 mediates lung cancer cell-induced neutrophil activation and PARylates ALOX5 to regulate MMP-9 expression, which exacerbates lung cancer progression.

[Objective] The large-diameter shield section on Shanghai City Railway Airport Link Line is parallel to the existing Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway. Due to strict deformation control requirements of high-speed railway subgrade, it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on the influence law of subgrade deformation caused by large-diameter shield parallel construction on existing high-speed railway. [Method] Based on Shanghai City Railway Airport Link Line engineering, in the process of large-diameter shield parallel construction, through field-monitoring of the existing high-speed railway subgrade, the land subsidence and the high-speed railway subgrade base plate displacement are monitored respectively. Based on field measurement data, the influence law of large-diameter shield parallel construction reinforced with portal isolation piles on soil disturbance and high-speed railway subgrade deformation is analyzed. [Result & Conclusion] Upon completion of shield construction, the maximum land subsidence occurs right above the tunnel, with ground heave at far end from the high-speed subgrade and land subsidence at the closer end. The maximum total land subsidence during and after the shield construction process is 21.14 mm and 20.32 mm, respectively, meeting control requirements. The effect of shield construction on ground vertical displacement is mainly concentrated within 20 m before the cutterhead reaching the section and within 50 m after it passes the section. Portal isolation piles can effectively restrict the displacement of the soil mass outside piles, control high-speed railway subgrade deformation, thus providing good isolation effects. After the completion of shield construction, the maximum horizontal and vertical displacements of Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway subgrade are both 1.9 mm, indicating that the parallel shield construction did not affect the normal operation of Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway.

Batch dispersion problem (BDP) restricts batch traceability in large-scale discrete production and negatively impacts batch recall costs. However, previous research has ignored the complexity of the BDP in their analyses. This paper investigates the BDP under the composed bill of materials (BOM) and develops a mathematical model for the BDP with the goal of minimizing the total batch dispersion by utilizing the batch dispersion as a measure of the degree of dispersed usage of part batches. BDP-GAVNS, a hybrid genetic algorithm with variable neighborhood search, is devised for the BDP based on the demonstration that the BDP is an NPC problem. In BDP-GAVNS, memory banks were introduced to increase the diversity of individuals performing crossover operations. Additionally, the encoding method and infeasible solution repair program are designed according to the characteristics of BDP. Numerical experiments validate the viability and effectiveness of BDP-GAVNS in solving BDP. They demonstrate that (1) the optimal combination occurs when the ratio of individuals produced by the three types of population initialization methods, namely global selection (GS), local selection (LS), and random selection (RS), to the population takes values of 0.30, 0.10, and 0.60, respectively; (2) The memory bank enriches the source of individuals required for crossover operations and improves the performance of crossover operations; and (3) The BDP-GAVNS is more effective than the other five heuristic algorithms including genetic algorithms in seeking the optimal solution of BDP.

Abstract Background The majority of published literature clinically assesses surgical outcomes after lower limb replantation for traumatic amputations. However, patients’ satisfaction and quality of life may not be accurately measured through rigid scoring using standardized patient reported outcome measures. Purpose The aim of this study was to qualitatively assess patient satisfaction and factors associated with achieving good outcomes after successful lower limb replantation surgery. Methods A semi-structured interview was conducted with 12 patients who underwent lower limb replantation surgery following traumatic amputation injuries. The interview focused on the patients’ experience and satisfaction throughout their injury, surgical journey, rehabilitation and reintegration into their communities. An inductive and deductive thematic analysis was applied using the recorded transcripts to evaluate the overall satisfaction of the patients after lower limb replantation surgery. Results The following observations emerged from the structured themes among all the patients interviewed: (1) Family and social support was significantly associated with improved qualities of life and satisfaction after lower limb replantation; (2) Patients were generally satisfied with their outcomes despite limitations in physical capabilities; (3) Satisfaction was associated with acceptance of their cosmetic deformity; (4) Social integration and being able to participate in a meaningful manner was associated with greater satisfaction after recovery. Conclusions Patients who undergo lower limb replantation can have a significantly improved quality of life if they have strong social support, are able to contribute in a meaningful manner to their communities after surgery, and are accepting of their cosmetic deficiencies.

Abstract Practical photodynamic therapy calls for high-performance, less O2-dependent, long-wavelength-light-activated photosensitizers to suit the hypoxic tumor microenvironment. Iridium-based photosensitizers exhibit excellent photocatalytic performance, but the in vivo applications are hindered by conventional O2-dependent Type-II photochemistry and poor absorption. Here we show a general metallopolymerization strategy for engineering iridium complexes exhibiting Type-I photochemistry and enhancing absorption intensity in the blue to near-infrared region. Reactive oxygen species generation of metallopolymer Ir-P1, where the iridium atom is covalently coupled to the polymer backbone, is over 80 times higher than that of its mother polymer without iridium under 680 nm irradiation. This strategy also works effectively when the iridium atom is directly included (Ir-P2) in the polymer backbones, exhibiting wide generality. The metallopolymer nanoparticles exhibiting efficient O2 •− generation are conjugated with integrin αvβ3 binding cRGD to achieve targeted photodynamic therapy.

Motor unit (MU) discharge information obtained via electromyogram (EMG) decomposition can be used to decode dexterous multi-finger movement intention for neural-machine interfaces (NMI). However, the variation of the motor unit action potential (MUAP) shape resulted from forearm rotation leads to the decreased performance of EMG decomposition, especially under the real-time condition and then the degradation of motion decoding accuracy. The object of this study was to develop a method to realize the accurate extraction of MU discharge information across forearm pronated/supinated positions in the real-time condition for dexterous multi-finger force prediction. The FastICA-based EMG decomposition technique was used and the proposed method obtained multiple separation vectors for each MU at different forearm positions in the initialization phase. Under the real-time condition, the MU discharge information was extracted adaptively using the separation vector extracted at the nearest forearm position. As comparison, the previous method that utilized a single constant separation vector to extract MU discharges across forearm positions and the conventional method that utilized the EMG amplitude information were also performed. The results showed that the proposed method obtained a significantly better performance compared with the other two methods, manifested in a larger coefficient of determination ( ${R}^{{2}}\text {)}$ and a smaller root mean squared error (RMSE) between the predicted and recorded force. Our results demonstrated the feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed method to extract MU discharge information during forearm rotation for dexterous force prediction under the real-time conditions. Further development of the proposed method could potentially promote the application of the EMG decomposition technique for continuous dexterous motion decoding in a realistic NMI application scenario.

The speed regulation technology for energy conservation of pump and fan systems occupies an important position in industrial field. The paper focuses on the rapid development and research significance of speed regulation technology for energy conservation based on different permanent magnet adjustable speed drives (PMASDs). The development history and speed regulation scheme for energy conservation are introduced step by step. The features of theoretical model based on magnetic vector potential and equivalent magnetic circuit methods are presented and studied in the paper, which is benefit to select a suitable method for a specific drive. Several optimization methods of design parameters of PMASDs are given in the paper. The structure and operating principle of some new speed regulation scheme are described, and their advantages, disadvantages and feasibility of engineering application are analyzed. Finally, the proposed speed regulation technologies for energy conservation are summarized and classified from the aspects of magnetic circuit structure, permanent magnet rotor structure, conductor rotor structure, and the slip power conversion scheme. In a conclusion, the power-fed PMASD will be the future of energy conservation technology for the high-efficiency and low-cost large pump and fan systems.

The main challenges in the field of fault diagnosis of robot arms lie in the difficulties of acquiring fault data and ensuring model applicability. For a fault robot arm, the trained models typically only perform well on test data and cannot be effectively applied in practical scenarios. As a result, the time cost is very much to construct adequate fault datasets. The paper proposes a dynamic simulation method for obtaining fault data to address these issues. The motion feature of the arm with joint faults is replicated by the simulation software, thereby obtaining vibration signals in the fault mode as samples. Additionally, under the main framework of Deep Learning (DL) with an end-to-end feature extraction capability, a Stacked Continuous Wavelet Transform (SCWT) method is designed to visualize timing signals graphically based on the traditional wavelet transform. Furthermore, to enhance traditional DL performance, a dual-channel architecture for data fusion within DL is designed to enrich the feature space and improve fault-distinguishing ability. Lastly, a Domain Discriminator $G_{d}$ is designed to identify the upper bounds for differences between spatial distributions of simulated and actual fault data. By the domain discriminator, the feature distribution of target and source data is aligned, facilitating the transfer application of the simulation-trained diagnostic model on the actual fault. The proposed method is tested and evaluated using a self-constructed experimental data set. The results substantiate its effectiveness and superiority.

【Objective】The study was carried out to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of feeds produced by fermented kitchen waste to spotted-brown chickens as a partial replacement of basal diets, with a view to providing basic data for the resource utilization and promotion of kitchen waste feed.【Method】One-day-old spotted-brown chickens were selected, and 0% (CK), 10% and 20% fermented kitchen waste feeds (FKWF) were added to the basal diet, and the amount of basal diet was reduced accordingly. At the 63rd day of the test period, the growth performance, slaughter performance and nutritional performance indexes such as crude protein, crude fat, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, selenium, inosinic acid and amino acids in chicken meat were measured.【Result】The results of broiler growth performance showed that the differences in feed-to-weight ratios between broilers in the 10% and 20% FKWF groups and CK were not significant, however, broilers in the 10% FKWF group had the highest weight. The results of slaughter performance showed that there were no abnormality in the skin color, muscle tissue elasticity, pH and odor of broilers of 10% and 20% FKWF groups, and the differences in organ coefficients were not significant compared with that of CK; the results of muscle nutritional performance showed that the crude protein contents of chicken meat in 10% and 20% FKWF groups increased by 7.50% and 3.42%, phosphorus contents increased significantly by 11.44% and 4.37%, and inosinic acid contents increased significantly by 7.10% and 6.00%; the fresh-flavored amino acid (FAA), sweet amino acid (SAA), essential amino acid (EAA), and total amino acid (TAA) were significantly higher in 10% and 20% FKWF groups than those in CK; aspartic acid, glycine, alanine, valine, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, histidine and cysteine were significantly increased by 4.49%to 12.79% compared with CK; aspartic acid, valine, isoleucine, and leucine in the 20% FKWF group were significantly increased by 3.37% and 5.74%, compared with CK.【Conclusion】It is feasible and effective to replace the basal diet by a certain proportion of biofeed produced by fermented kitchen waste to feed broilers, which can save feed costs and improve economic benefits.

Abstract Introduction Ankylosing spondylitis(AS) is a chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease primarily affecting the spine and sacroiliac joints. While biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs(bDMARDs) and targeted synthetic DMARDs(tsDMARDs) are popular treatments for AS, there is limited research on their combined use. This study examined a cohort of AS patients who demonstrated inadequate response to bDMARDs and subsequently initiated combination therapy with tofacitinib in conjunction with bDMARDs, assessing both the efficacy and safety profile of this therapeutic approach. Methods In this study, we retrospectively collected the electronic medical records (EMR) of 15 adult patients with AS who were admitted to the Fourth Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine between January 2018 and June 2022. All patients had received at least one bDMARD treatment for more than three months and still exhibited moderate to high disease activity. Tofacitinib 5 mg bid was added to their original biological treatment. Treatment was continued for a minimum of 12 weeks following the initiation of combination therapy. Changes in ASDAS-CRP and BASDAI scores at week 12 were collected and analyzed from baseline, while changes in C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) at weeks 4, 8, and 12 were also collected and analyzed. Results After 12 weeks of treatment, the overall ASDAS-CRP score decreased significantly from a baseline of 3.82 ± 1.47 (2.83 ~ 4.99) to 1.47 ± 0.48 (0.75 ~ 2.44), with remission achieved by 7 patients (46.7%) and low disease activity achieved by 5 patients (33.3%). The overall BASDAI score also showed significant improvement, decreasing from a baseline of 5.11 ± 1.42 (3.25 ~ 7 0.75) to 1.28 ± 0.70(0.20 ~ 2.55). Additionally, both ESR and CRP levels decreased significantly during the course of treatment without any reported adverse events leading to discontinuation. Conclusion To a certain extent, our findings provide some evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of the combination of bDMARD and JAK inhibitor tofacitinib in AS patients with inadequate response to bDMARD monotherapy. It effectively controls disease activity while maintaining a relatively low and manageable incidence of adverse events. Further prospective randomized controlled trials with large sample sizes are anticipated to provide evidence-based medical support.

Knowledge graphs have emerged as a useful resource and tool for representing real-world entities and their relations, which gained increasing importance in the fields of deep learning and machine learning. This research aims to investigate the academic publications of knowledge graphs between 2013 and 2022 based on the core collection of the Web of Science and examine hot topics and the latest developments in this subject. Thus, the present research adopted a bibliometric analysis to explore the indicators, which mainly focus on different variables from the diachronic productivity of scientific publications to the most prolific countries and the leading publication journals. By means of VOSviewer software, the most productive authors and the frequency of author keywords were further analyzed. The results manifest that dramatic growth has been identified in the past five years due to the output of publications regarding this subject, and the frequently explored themes were mainly conducted from six dimensions, focusing on ontology modelling, knowledge extraction, knowledge graph embedding, graph-based knowledge representation, multi-modal knowledge graphs and knowledge-aware applications. The findings could help researchers gain a thorough understanding of knowledge graph research, optimize research topic choices, and detect new directions for future studies.

Introduction The tobacco gift-giving culture in China poses a significant challenge to public health; however, there is limited research on effectively curbing the tobacco gift-giving culture and its associated tobacco gift consumption. This study examines the potential impact of two tobacco control measures that the Chinese government may consider adopting on cigarette gifting behavior in the future in Chinese society. Methods This study employed a randomized survey experiment to examine the effects of cigarette price treatment and pictorial health warning labels (HWLs) on cigarette gifting. The total sample size of this study is 1035. Four groups of participants were presented with representative cigarettes categorized into high- , medium-, and low-priced products, along with different prices (normal and double) or external packaging imagery (normal and pictorial HWL versions). Results The price of cigarettes for personal consumption forms an L-shaped distribution, and the price of cigarette gifts forms a W-shaped distribution. Increasing cigarette prices reduces smokers' willingness to gift high-priced cigarettes but stimulates the consumption of low-price cigarettes as gifts. Pictorial HWLs do not directly influence smokers' intentions to gift cigarettes, but they enhance the effectiveness of price regulation concerning medium-priced cigarette products. Conclusions If the price variance of cigarettes is not reduced, the effect of price regulation will be very limited. Implementing combined interventions of pictorial HWLs and price regulation or modifying the pricing structure of tobacco products may yield stronger control outcomes.

Abstract Background N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation has become an active research area in viral infection, while little bibliometric analysis has been performed. In this study, we aim to visualize hotspots and trends using bibliometric analysis to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of the current research dynamics in this field. Methods The data related to m6A methylation in viral infection were obtained through the Web of Science Core Collection form 2000 to 2022. To reduce bias, the literature search was conducted on December 1, 2022. Bibliometric and visual analyzes were performed using CiteSpace and Bibliometrix package. After screening, 319 qualified records were retrieved. Results These publications mainly came from 28 countries led by China and the United States (the US), with the US ranking highest in terms of total link strength.The most common keywords were m6A, COVID-19, epitranscriptomics, METTL3, hepatitis B virus, innate immunity and human immunodeficiency virus 1. The thematic map showed that METTL3, plant viruses, cancer progression and type I interferon (IFN-I) reflected a good development trend and might become a research hotspot in the future, while post-transcriptional modification, as an emerging or declining theme, might not develop well. Conclusions In conclusion, m6A methylation in viral infection is an increasingly important topic in articles. METTL3, plant viruses, cancer progression and IFN-I may still be research hotspots and trends in the future.

Abstract Past studies have shown that the Gelsolin-like actin-capping protein (CAPG) regulates cell migration and proliferation and is strongly associated with tumor progression. We present the first study of the mechanism of action of CAPG in early gastric cancer (EGC). We demonstrate that CAPG expression is upregulated in gastric cancer (GC) especially EGC. CAPG promotes GC proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis in vivo and in vitro. More importantly, CAPG plays a role in GC by involving the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Our findings suggest that CAPG may function as a novel biomarker for EGC.

Abstract Background Talaromyces marneffei is endemic to eastern India, Southeast Asia, and Guangdong and Guangxi provinces in China. It is common in immunocompromised individuals, especially in HIV-infected patients. Case presentation A 66-year-old male who had a history of hypertension and resided in Shandong Province (Northern China) was admitted for recurrent fever for one month. The patient had recurrent fever, multiple lymphadenopathies, hepatosplenomegaly, a back rash, and a progressive decrease in white blood cells and platelets. Talaromyces marneffei was isolated from peripheral blood and bone marrow after admission, and suspected fungal cells were found via lymph node pathology. The patient’s infection secondary to haemophagocytic syndrome continued to worsen despite antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and symptomatic treatment, leading to death due to multiple-organ failure. Conclusion Although rare, infection due to Talaromyces marneffei in HIV-negative patients has been increasing in recent years, and we should be vigilant about “new” infections in nonendemic areas.

Highlights The LiNO3-implanted electroactive β phase polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene was built as an artificial solid electrolyte interphase layer for dendrite suppression. The electronegatively charged polymer layer can capture Li ion on its surface to form Li-ion charged channels and recompense the ionic flux of electrolytes via continuous supply of Li ion. The modified Li anode achieved a long cycle life over 2000 h under ultrahigh Li utilization of 50% in symmetric cell and worked in full cell for 100 cycles at harsh condition of extremely low N/P of 0.83.

Abstract A hallmark of tumor cells, including bladder cancer (BLCA) cells, is metabolic reprogramming toward aerobic glycolysis (Warburg effect). The classical oncogene MYC, which is crucial in regulating glycolysis, is amplified and activated in BLCA. However, direct targeting of the c-Myc oncoprotein, which regulates glycolytic metabolism, presents great challenges and necessitates the discovery of a more clarified regulatory mechanism to develop selective targeted therapy. In this study, a siRNA library targeting deubiquitinases identified a candidate enzyme named USP43, which may regulate glycolytic metabolism and c-Myc transcriptional activity. Further investigation using functional assays and molecular studies revealed a USP43/c-Myc positive feedback loop that contributes to the progression of BLCA. Moreover, USP43 stabilizes c-Myc by deubiquitinating c-Myc at K148 and K289 primarily through deubiquitinase activity. Additionally, upregulation of USP43 protein in BLCA increased the chance of interaction with c-Myc and interfered with FBXW7 access and degradation of c-Myc. These findings suggest that USP43 is a potential therapeutic target for indirectly targeting glycolytic metabolism and the c-Myc oncoprotein consequently enhancing the efficacy of bladder cancer treatment.

The effects of heat treatment on the intermetallic compounds (IMCs) and morphology at the interface of stainless steel 304 bonded to aluminum 6061 by electromagnetic pulse welding (EMPW) were investigated in this study. A thin discontinuous non-uniform wavy transition layer with an average thickness of 1.144 μm was formed at the interface of the as-welded joint. After heat treatment, the average grain size of the Al/SS304 interface grew from 6.85 μm to 7.42 μm. The thickness of the transition layer increased significantly, reaching an average thickness of 4.109 μm after heating at 210 °C for 4 h. In addition, the wavy interface grew gradually and became smooth with increasing heating temperature, suggesting the growth rate of the IMCs at the trough was greater than that at the adjacent crest. Then the effect of heating time on the growth of IMCs was studied. According to the characteristics of the transition layer and the diffusion law, the IMCs grew faster at the trough than at the crest of the transition layer. Differences in element concentration, crystal deformation, grain boundaries, dislocation density, and energy storage were observed at the trough and crest of the interface as a result of the different growth rates of the IMCs.

This paper reports on the successful synthesis of a novel alumina powder with a unique rose-like structure composed of alumina platelets, using the molten salt method. The synthesized powder was then utilized to prepare alumina ceramic with impressive mechanical properties. The influences of the synthesizing temperature of alumina powder on the microstructure and mechanical properties of alumina ceramic are investigated in details. The results indicate that the alumina ceramic prepared using the rose-like powder synthesized at 800 °C exhibits a high relative density of 99.5 %, flexural strength of 408.2 ± 18.7 MPa, and fracture toughness of 6.14 ± 0.63 MPa m1/2. The work presented in this paper will provide a useful guideline for the preparation of high-performance alumina ceramic materials in the future.

Phase transformation is a crucial factor that determines the quality and deformation of components in laser-directed energy deposition (L-DED). Owing to the limitations of in situ observation methods, there is a lack of effective means to study the complete phase transformation and their impacts on deformation during the deposition process. In this study, multilayer heterogeneous deposition was investigated with the high-carbon high-speed steel by modelling the coupled phase transformation-thermomechanical physics. The methodology was proposed to identify the specific phase transformations by iteratively comparing the whole deformation history between digital image correlation (DIC) measurements and simulations. Besides the thermo-mechanical coupling effect and basic volumetric phase transformation, carbon partitioning between precipitated carbides and matrix was manifested, which also resulted in a rise of the Ms point by 208.4 °C and a reduction of the transformation rate by 73.2%. Additionally, an increase of 13.8% in energy absorption could be attributed to the surface oxidation of the deposited layer. The model predictions exhibited good consistency with the DIC in-situ measurement data, indicating that the deformation history contained sufficient information on the phase transformations. Based on the proposed transformation-thermomechanical coupling model, it helps to understand the complete phase transformation during deposition.

Immunotherapy is a promising strategy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), a common and aggressive malignancy with poor prognosis. However, the literature lacks a comprehensive and objective overview of the current research status and trends of immunotherapy-related fields in NPC. We performed a bibliometric analysis of 513 original articles and reviews in English on immunotherapy for NPC from the Web of Science Core Collection database, using CiteSpace and Bibliometrix software tools. We visualized the development trend of publications, the distribution of countries/regions, the co-occurrence of keywords, the collaboration and citation of authors, the citation of journals, the evolution of topics, and the thematic map. We found that the publication volume increased sharply after 2017, with China as the main contributor and leader, the US as an important partner, and the Netherlands as a potential innovator. The research focused on immune checkpoint inhibitors and cell therapy, which were also the hotspots of clinical trials. Tumor microenvironment, immune infiltration, multicenter studies, and novel immunotherapy were the frontier topics and the key challenges for future research. CD137l-DC, lymphoma, and chimeric antigen receptor were emerging topics with good prospects. Our study provides a valuable insight into the research status and trends of immunotherapy for NPC, which may guide future research directions and clinical applications.

The implementation of pretreatment drug-resistance (PDR) surveillance among people living with HIV-1 (PLWH) is a top priority in countries using efavirenz (EFV)/nevirapine (NVP) for first-line ART. In this study, we assessed the prevalence of PDR among PLWH in Shanghai, China during 2017–2021, and to reveal PDR transmission between Shanghai and other regions of China. A total of 5050 PLWH not on ART during 2017–2021 were included. Partial HIV-1 pol sequences were amplified, sequenced, and analysed for drug-resistance mutations (DRMs). Besides, transmission network of PDR variants was inferred using HIV-TRACE. The overall prevalence of PDR was 4.8% (242/5050; 95% CI, 4.2–5.4). Prevalence of NNRTI-associated PDR was 3.9% (95% CI, 3.4–4.5), higher than those of NRTI-associated (0.8%; 95% CI, 0.5–1.1) and PI-associated PDR (0.9%; 95% CI, 0.6–1.2). High prevalence of PDR (especially high-level resistance) to EFV (132/5050, 2.6%) and NVP (137/5050, 2.7%) were found. CRF01_AE (46.0%) was the predominant HIV-1 genotype with any DRMs, followed by CRF55_01B (21.0%), and CRF07_BC (15.1%). Two NRTI-associated (S68G/N/R and T215A/N/S/Y), five NNRTI-associated (V179D/E/T/L, K103N/R/S/T, E138A/G/K, V106M/I/A and Y181C/I) and two PI-associated mutations (M46I/L/V and Q58E) were the most common observed DRMs in PDR patients in Shanghai. The vast majority of S68G occurred in CRF01_AE (45%). M46I/L/V and Q58E showed a relatively high prevalence in CRF01_AE (4.1%) and CRF07_BC (12.6%). Transmission network analyses demonstrated cross-regional transmission links of PDR variants between Shanghai and other regions of China, which was mainly driven by the potential low-level DRM V179D/E. These results provide crucial information for clinical decision making of first-line ART in PLWH with PDR.

ABSTRACTIn contrast to traditional intermetallics that are difficult to process and prone to cracking during additive manufacturing, our work demonstrates the successful fabrication of crack-free, high-performance CCIMAs via electron beam powder bed fusion (EBPBF). The microstructures of CCIMAs (NiCoFeAlTiB) fabricated by EBPBF are remarkably complex, exhibiting a multiphase composition where the disordered FCC phase forms the matrix interleaved with L12-ordered intermetallic phase. The unique combination of ordered lattices and high-entropy disordered phases, tuned by optimised EBPBF processing, imparts exceptional mechanical properties with a high tensile strength (∼1 GPa) and a sufficient ductility (∼11%). It is found that additional minor HCP and L21 precipitates can also effectively slow down and block the crack extension. This work demonstrates a pathway for crack-free fabrication of CCIMAs with tailored microstructures using EBPBF which may provide new insights and manufacturing strategies to unlock the potential of these advanced intermetallic alloys.

ABSTRACTInfluenza D virus (IDV) plays an important role in the bovine respiratory disease (BRD) complex. Its potential for the zoonotic transmission is of particular concern. In China, IDV has previously been identified in agricultural animals by molecular surveys with no live virus isolates reported. In this study, live IDVs were successfully isolated from cattle in China, which prompted us to further investigate the national prevalence, antigenic property, and infection biology of the virus. IDV RNA was detected in 11.1% (51/460) of cattle throughout the country in 2022–2023. Moreover, we conducted the first IDV serosurveillance in China, revealing a high seroprevalence (91.4%, 393/430) of IDV in cattle during the 2022–2023 winter season. Notably, all the 16 provinces from which cattle originated possessed seropositive animals, and 3 of them displayed the 100% IDV-seropositivity rate. In contrast, a very low seroprevalence of IDV was observed in pigs (3%, 3/100) and goats (1%, 1/100) during the same period of investigation. Furthermore, besides D/Yama2019 lineage-like IDVs, we discovered the D/660 lineage-like IDV in Chinese cattle, which has not been detected to date in Asia. Finally, the Chinese IDVs replicated robustly in diverse cell lines but less efficiently in the swine cell line. Considering the nationwide distribution, high seroprevalence, and appreciably genetic diversity, further studies are required to fully evaluate the risk of Chinese IDVs for both animal and human health in China, which can be evidently facilitated by IDV isolates reported in this study.

AbstractPurpose This retrospective, single-center, case-control study evaluated the safety and efficacy of Computed tomography (CT)-guided microwave ablation (MWA) for pulmonary nodules located in the right middle lobe (RML), a challenging location associated with a high frequency of complications.Methods Between May 2020 and April 2022, 71 patients with 71 RML pulmonary nodules underwent 71 MWA sessions. To comparison, 142 patients with 142 pulmonary nodules in non-RML were selected using propensity score matching. The technical success, technique efficacy, complications, and associated factors were analyzed. The duration of the procedure and post-ablation hospital stay were also recorded.Results Technical success was achieved in 100% of all patients. Myocardial infarction (MI) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) and mitochondrial Ca2+ overload have been involved in apoptotic cardiomyocyte death during MI. 13-Methylpalmatine (13-Me-PLT) is a natural isoquinoline alkaloid isolated from Coptis chinensis and has not been systematically studied for their potential pharmacological effects in cardiovascular diseases. We conducted the present study to elucidate whether 13-Me-PLT modulates MI pathology in animal MI and cellular hypoxic models, employing state-of-the-art molecular techniques. The results demonstrated that 13-Me-PLT preserved post-ischemic cardiac function and alleviated cardiomyocyte apoptosis. 13-Me-PLT decreased ERS and the communication between ER and mitochondria, which serves as a protective mechanism against mitochondrial Ca2+ overload and structural and functional injuries to mitochondria. Our data revealed mitigating mitochondrial Ca2+ overload and apoptosis by inhibiting CHOP-mediated Ca2+ transfer between inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor (IP3R) in ER and VDAC1 in mitochondria as an underlying mechanism for 13-Me-PLT action. Furthermore, 13-Me-PLT produced superior effects in alleviating cardiac dysfunction and apoptosis post-MI to diltiazem and palmatine. Collectively, our research suggests that the CHOP/IP3R/VDAC1 signaling pathway mediates ER-mitochondrial Ca2+ transfer and 13-Me-PLT activates this axis to maintain cellular and organellar Ca2+ homeostasis, protecting against ischemic myocardial injury. These findings may offer an opportunity to develop new agents for the therapy of ischemic heart disease.

Herpetofauna have attracted considerable global attention due to their high risk of extinction. The Mountains of Southwest China are among the 36 global biodiversity hotspots due to their high biodiversity and irreplaceability, and the Shaluli Mountains are the core area of this region. However, the diversity and conservation status of herpetofauna in the Shaluli Mountains remain unclear. In this study, we updated the species richness and composition information of herpetofauna in the Shaluli Mountains based on extensive field expeditions, published literature, and museum specimens. In addition, we identified the local hotspots and key environmental factors limiting species distribution using environmental niche models (ENMs). Furthermore, we evaluated the conservation status of the key species via the Red List Index and gap analysis. Our results revealed a total of 68 herpetofauna species, representing 30 amphibians (21 genera in nine families) and 38 reptiles (19 genera in six families). The amphibian richness showed a hump-shaped pattern along the elevational gradient, while the reptile richness showed a monotonically decreasing pattern. The dry-hot river valley was identified as a local hotspot, and the key environmental factors limiting the richness of herpetofauna species differed. Moreover, the regional Red List indices for amphibians and reptiles were 0.87 and 0.8, respectively, showing that the overall threat level of this region was low. However, there are large conservation gaps in the protection of key species. Our study indicated that new protected areas should be established and the existing protected areas should be upgraded to protect herpetofauna with a large conservation gap.

In China, the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) has undergone several variations over the decades and contributed to the diversity of the clinical epidemic PRRSV strains. This has complicated the prevention and control of PRRS. In particular, the efficacy of the currently available commercial vaccines against the highly pathogenic NADC34-like strains is unclear. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the protection efficacy of three commercial PRRS modified-live virus (MLV) vaccines derived from classical PRRS VR2332 MLV and R98 MLV against challenge with a heterologous NADC34-like PRRSV strain, JS2021NADC34, which has high pathogenicity in pigs. PRRSV- and antibody-free piglets were immunized with the PRRS VR2332 MLV vaccine or either of two R98 MLV vaccines (from different manufacturers) and were challenged with the JS2021NADC34 strain 28 days after immunization. Rectal temperature, clinical symptoms, viremia and viral shedding from the nose, gross lesions in the thymus and lungs, microscopic lesions and viral distribution in the lungs, as well as the humoral immune response and mortality rates were recorded over a 14-day post-challenge period. The results showed that PRRS VR2332 MLV had better efficacy against the JS2021NADC34 challenge than PRRS R98 MLV, with vaccinated piglets in the former group showing transient and mild symptoms, mild pathological lesions in the lungs, mild thymic atrophy, and low viral levels in sera and nasal swabs, as well as better growth performance and a 100% survival rate. In contrast, two PRRS R98 MLVs exhibited limited efficacy against the JS2021NADC34 challenge, with the piglets in two R98 groups showing obvious clinical symptoms and pathological changes in the lungs and thymus; moreover, there were two deaths caused by PRRS in two R98 groups, respectively. Despite this, the mortality rate was lower than that of the unvaccinated piglets that were challenged with JS2021NADC34. The cumulative results demonstrate that PRRS VR2332 MLV was partly effective against the highly pathogenic PRRSV NADC34-like strain based on the observations over the 14-day post-challenge period. Thus, it might be a viable option among the commercially available vaccines for control of NADC34-like virus infections in swine herds.

Abstract The adjustable structures and remarkable physicochemical properties of 2D monoelemental materials, such as silicene and germanene, have attracted significant attention in recent years. They can be transformed into silicane (SiH) and germanane (GeH) through covalent functionalization via hydrogen atom termination. However, synthesizing these materials with a scalable and low‐cost fabrication process to achieve high‐quality 2D SiH and GeH poses challenges. Herein, groundbreaking 2D SiH and GeH materials with varying compositions, specifically Si0.25Ge0.75H, Si0.50Ge0.50H, and Si0.75Ge0.25H, are prepared through a simple and efficient chemical exfoliation of their Zintl phases. These 2D materials offer significant advantages, including their large surface area, high mechanical flexibility, rapid electron mobility, and defect‐rich loose‐layered structures. Among these compositions, the Si0.50Ge0.50H electrode demonstrates the highest discharge capacity, reaching up to 1059 mAh g−1 after 60 cycles at a current density of 75 mA g−1. A comprehensive ex‐situ electrochemical analysis is conducted to investigate the reaction mechanisms of lithiation/delithiation in Si0.50Ge0.50H. Subsequently, an initial assessment of the c‐Li15(SixGe1‐x)4 phase after lithiation and the a‐Si0.50Ge0.50 phase after delithiation is presented. Hence, this study contributes crucial insights into the (de)lithiation reaction mechanisms within germanane‐silicane alloys. Such understanding is pivotal for mastering promising materials that amalgamate the finest properties of silicon and germanium.

Abstract Intratumor heterogeneity (ITH) of bladder cancer (BLCA) contributes to therapy resistance and immune evasion affecting clinical prognosis. The molecular and cellular mechanisms contributing to BLCA ITH generation remain elusive. It is found that a TM4SF1‐positive cancer subpopulation (TPCS) can generate ITH in BLCA, evidenced by integrative single cell atlas analysis. Extensive profiling of the epigenome and transcriptome of all stages of BLCA revealed their evolutionary trajectories. Distinct ancestor cells gave rise to low‐grade noninvasive and high‐grade invasive BLCA. Epigenome reprograming led to transcriptional heterogeneity in BLCA. During early oncogenesis, epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition generated TPCS. TPCS has stem‐cell‐like properties and exhibited transcriptional plasticity, priming the development of transcriptionally heterogeneous descendent cell lineages. Moreover, TPCS prevalence in tumor is associated with advanced stage cancer and poor prognosis. The results of this study suggested that bladder cancer interacts with its environment by acquiring a stem cell‐like epigenomic landscape, which might generate ITH without additional genetic diversification.

Radial composite deviation is an important index to evaluate the precision of gear transmission, and its detection method is also an important trend of gear detection in industrial development. The ability to predict radial composite deviation while obtaining geometric deviation of gears is a key challenge in advancing intelligent online inspection within gear manufacturing workshops. This study presents a virtual measurement method for determining gear radial composite deviation using point cloud data. The method involves using an optical three-dimensional scanner to capture tooth surface cloud data, determining tooth profile deviation, and applying reverse engineering technology to reconstruct the gear model, the variation curve of gear center distance is determined by simulating, allowing for the calculation of the total radial composite deviation and tooth-to-tooth radial composite deviation. In comparison to actual measurement, the virtual measurement method is generally reliable. It can effectively illustrate the overall trend of center distance variation and has good interpretability for predicting radial composite deviation results. This method reduces the dependence on the specialized gear measuring instrument and addresses the critical issue of simultaneously obtaining tooth profile deviation and radial composite deviation.

Abstract Solution‐processed 2D materials hold promise for their scalable applications. However, the random, fragmented nature of the solution‐processed nanoflakes and the poor percolative conduction through their discrete networks limit the performance of the enabled devices. To overcome the problem, conduction modulation of the solution‐processed 2D materials is reported via Stark effect. Using liquid‐phase exfoliated molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) as an example, nonlinear conduction switching with a ratio of >105 is demonstrated by the local fields from the interfacial ferroelectric P(VDF‐TrFE). Through density‐functional theory calculations and in situ Raman scattering and photoluminescence spectroscopic analysis, the modulation is understood to arise from a charge redistribution in the solution‐processed MoS2. Beyond MoS2, the modulation may be shown effective for the other solution‐processed 2D materials and low‐dimensional materials. The modulation can open their electronic device applications, for instance, thin‐film nonlinear electronics and non‐volatile memories.

ObjectiveConstruct models based on grayscale ultrasound and radiomics and compare the efficacy of different models in preoperatively predicting the level of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in breast cancer.Materials and methodsThis study retrospectively collected clinical data and preoperative ultrasound images from 185 breast cancer patients confirmed by surgical pathology. Patients were randomly divided into a training set (n=111) and a testing set (n=74) using a 6:4 ratio. Based on a 10% threshold for tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) levels, patients were classified into low-level and high-level groups. Radiomic features were extracted and selected using the training set. The evaluation included assessing the relationship between TIL levels and both radiomic features and grayscale ultrasound features. Subsequently, grayscale ultrasound models, radiomic models, and nomograms combining radiomics score (Rad-score) and grayscale ultrasound features were established. The predictive performance of different models was evaluated through receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. ABSTRACT: The bird beak is mainly functioned as feeding and attacking, and its shape has extremely important significance for survival and reproduction. In chickens, since beak shape could lead to some disadvantages including pecking and waste of feed, it is important to understand the inheritance of chicken beak shape. In the present study, we firstly established 4 indicators to describe the chicken beak shapes, including upper beak length (UL), lower beak length (LL), distance between upper and lower beak tips (DB) and upper beak curvature (BC). And then, we measured the 4 beak shape indicators as well as some production traits including body weight (BW), shank length (SL), egg weight (EW), eggshell strength (ES) of a layer breed, Rhode Island Red (RIR), in order to estimate genetic parameters of chicken beak shape. The heritabilities of UL and LL were 0.41 and 0.37, and the heritabilities of DB and BC were 0.22 and 0.21, indicating that beak shape was a highly or mediumly heritable. There were significant positive genetic and phenotypic correlations among UL, LL, and DB. And UL was positively correlated with body weight (BW18) and shank length (SL18) at 18 weeks of age in genetics, and DB was positively correlated with BC in terms of genetics and phenotype. We also found that layers of chicken cages played a role on beak shape, which could be attributed to the difference of lightness in different cage layers.
