Antecedentes: Las emociones pueden definirse como un estado temporal suscitado por estímulos biológicos externos relevantes, ya sea, adversos o positivos que tienen efectos específicos en el organismo tanto en el cuerpo como en la mente. Las investigaciones que se han focalizado en las emociones han crecido exponencialmente incluso en áreas como la agronomía y la biología. Objetivo: Explorar las investigaciones actuales sobre las emociones, con el fin de lograr una mejor comprensión de cómo se han abordado en el ámbito de las ciencias agrícolas y biológicas. Metodología: Se utilizó el software VOSviewer para conducir un análisis de co-ocurrencia en 792 artículos publicados en la base de datos Scopus® de Elsevier® relacionados con las emociones, también se analizaron los países que más publican, las revistas científicas e instituciones. Resultados principales: Los resultados muestran que Estados Unidos es el país líder en el tema. En las primeras etapas se caracterizó el funcionamiento del cerebro humano, posteriormente, se hicieron estudios con enfoque cognitivo, fisiológico y psicológico y en los últimos años, las investigaciones se enfocaron en el comportamiento de los consumidores. Implicaciones: Este estudio contribuye a una mejor comprensión de las emociones y sus implicaciones en diferentes aspectos, como son la alimentación, la salud y el bienestar emocional, al mismo tiempo que pone de manifiesto la necesidad de contar con un enfoque multidisciplinario para una mejor aproximación a la complejidad que se presenta en los agroecosistemas, particularmente aquellos de las zonas tropicales y subtropicales que enfrentan rezagos considerables con respecto a otras regiones.Conclusiones: Se concluye que las investigaciones sobre las emociones están teniendo un impacto en la comprensión de percepción e intenciones que la sociedad tiene para adquirir bienes y servicios que provee el sector agroalimentario.

Resumen: Introducción: El tiempo puerta-aguja (TPA) es el principal indicador del proceso del código ictus (CI). Según la guía de 2018 de la American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, el objetivo TPA debe ser inferior a 45 minutos. Para conseguirlo son necesarios protocolos eficaces y revisados de actuación extrahospitalaria e intrahospitalaria. Método: Analizamos la influencia de cambios organizativos entre 2011 y 2019 en el TPA y en la evolución clínica de los pacientes tratados con fibrinólisis. Utilizamos los datos de nuestro centro monitorizados y custodiados por el Pla Director en l’àmbit de la Malaltia Vascular Cerebral de la Generalitat de Catalunya. Entre otras medidas se han analizado las diferencias entre los años y las derivadas de la implantación del modelo Helsinki. Resultados: Se estudiaron 447 pacientes, existiendo diferencias estadísticamente significativas en el TPA entre los diferentes años. La activación del CI de forma extrahospitalaria en 315 (70,5%) pacientes redujo el TPA una mediana de 14 minutos. Abstract The Gumelnița site belongs to the Kodjadermen-Gumelnița-Karanovo VI (KGK VI) communities (c. 4700–3900 cal BC) and comprises the tell-type settlement and its corresponding cemetery. This paper reconstructs the diet and lifeways of the Chalcolithic people in the northeastern Balkans using archaeological remains found at the Gumelnița site (Romania). A multi-bioarchaeological investigation (archaeobotany, zooarchaeology, anthropology) was conducted on vegetal, animal, and human remains, alongside radiocarbon dating and stable isotope analyses (δ13C, δ15N) of humans (n = 33), mammals (n = 38), reptiles (n = 3), fishes (n = 8), freshwater mussels shells (n = 18), and plants (n = 24). According to the results of δ13C and δ15N values and FRUITS, the inhabitants of Gumelnița had a diet based on crops and using natural resources, such as fish, freshwater molluscs and game. Although domestic fauna was occasionally exploited for meat, it had a role in providing secondary products. Crops were heavily manured, and chaff and other crop waste may have been necessary fodder for cattle and sheep. Dogs and pigs fed on human waste, although the diet of the latter is more similar to that of wild boars. Foxes had a diet close to dogs, which may indicate synanthropic behaviour. Radiocarbon dates were calibrated with the percentage of freshwater resources obtained by FRUITS. As a result, the corrected dates for the freshwater reservoir effect (FRE) have a delay of an average of 147 years. According to our data, this agrarian community developed a subsistence strategy under the pressure of some climatic changes that started after 4300 cal BC, corresponding to KGK VI rapid collapse/decline episode tracked recently (that begins around 4350 cal BC). This matching of our data in the two models (climatic and chrono-demographic) allowed us to capture the economic strategies that led to the resilience of those people more than other contemporary KGK VI communities.

Prostitution is the subject of some of the most complex and fragmented of all current debates in Spain. To contribute to this debate and understand the situation facing women in this sector, ethnographic data and 41 interviews were gathered over three years. The results show, among other things, that women engaged in sex work are affected by several types of inequality and intersectionality (gender, nationality, ethnicity, family burdens, administrative status, language, level and location of prostitution) that shape their situation within the sex industry, offering them greater or lesser protection from violence. The threat of violence comes above all from clients, partners, pimps, the conditions around them and police persecution. What is more, negative and criminalising attitudes towards prostitution lead to greater stigmatisation and violence. In spite of this, women have developed self-defence mechanisms and created support networks.

Resumen: Antecedentes y objetivos: Los linfomas cutáneos primarios (LCP) son un conjunto de entidades poco frecuentes. En febrero del 2018 se describieron los resultados del primer año de funcionamiento del Registro de linfomas cutáneos primarios de la AEDV. En el presente trabajo actualizamos los resultados tras 5 años de funcionamiento. Pacientes y métodos: Registro de enfermedad de pacientes con LCP. Se recogieron datos prospectivamente de los pacientes, incluyendo diagnóstico, tratamientos, pruebas realizadas y estado actual del paciente. Se realizó un análisis descriptivo. Resultados: En diciembre del 2021 se había incluido a un total de 2020 pacientes en el Registro, pertenecientes a 33 hospitales españoles. El 59% fueron hombres, la edad media fue de 62,2 años. Se agruparon en 4 grandes grupos diagnósticos: micosis fungoide/síndrome de Sézary (1.112, 55%), LCP de células B (547, 27,1%), trastornos linfoproliferativos de células T CD30+ (222, 11%) y otros linfomas T (116, 5,8%). La mayoría presentó estadio T1, encontrándose actualmente casi el 75% en remisión completa (43,5%) o enfermedad estable (EE; 27%). Los tratamientos más usados fueron corticoides tópicos (1.369, 67,8%), fototerapia (890, 44,1%), cirugía (412, 20,4%) y radioterapia (384, 19%). Conclusión: Las características del paciente con LCP en España no difieren de otras series. El mayor tamaño del registro permite precisar mejor los datos con respecto a los resultados del primer año. Este registro facilita al grupo de linfomas de la AEDV realizar investigación clínica, surgiendo ya trabajos publicados de dicho registro. Abstract: Background and objective: Primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCL) are uncommon. Observations based on the first year of data from the Spanish Registry of Primary Cutaneous Lymphomas (RELCP, in its Spanish abbreviation) of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV) were published in February 2018. This report covers RELCP data for the first 5 years. Patients and methods: RELCP data were collected prospectively and included diagnosis, treatments, tests, and the current status of patients. We compiled descriptive statistics of the data registered during the first 5 years. Results: Information on 2020 patients treated at 33 Spanish hospitals had been included in the RELCP by December 2021. Fifty-nine percent of the patients were men; the mean age was 62.2 years. The lymphomas were grouped into 4 large diagnostic categories: mycosis fungoides/Sézary syndrome, 1112 patients (55%); primary B-cell cutaneous lymphoma, 547 patients (27.1%); primary CD30 + lymphoproliferative disorders, 222 patients (11%), and other T-cell lymphomas, 116 patients (5.8%). Nearly 75% of the tumors were registered in stage I. After treatment, 43.5% achieved complete remission and 27% were stable at the time of writing. Treatments prescribed were topical corticosteroids (1369 [67.8%]), phototherapy (890 patients [44.1%]), surgery (412 patients [20.4%]), and radiotherapy (384 patients [19%]). Conclusion: The characteristics of cutaneous lymphomas in Spain are similar to those reported for other series. The large size of the RELCP registry at 5 years has allowed us to give more precise descriptive statistics than in the first year. This registry facilitates the clinical research of the AEDV's lymphoma interest group, which has already published articles based on the RELCP data.

Air pollution is caused by the presence of polluting elements. Ozone (O3), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and particulate matter (PM) are the most controlled gasses because they can be released into the atmosphere naturally or as a result of human activity, which affects air quality and causes disease and premature death in exposed people. Depending on the substance being measured, ambient air monitors have different types of air quality sensors. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in designing drones as mobile sensors for monitoring air pollution. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to provide a comprehensive patent review to gain insight into the proprietary technologies currently used in drones used to monitor outdoor air pollution. Patent searches were conducted using three different patent search engines: Google Patents, WIPO’s Patentscope, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The analysis of each patent consists of extracting data that supply information regarding the type of drone, sensor, or equipment for measuring PM, the lack or presence of a cyclone separator, and the ability to process the turbulence generated by the drone’s propellers. A total of 1473 patent documents were retrieved using the search engine. However, only 13 met the inclusion criteria, including patent documents reporting drone designs for outdoor air pollution monitoring. Therefore, was found that most patents fall under class G01N (measurement; testing) according to the International Patents Classification, where the most common sensors and devices are infrared or visible light cameras, cleaning devices, and GPS tracking devices. The most common tasks performed by drones are air pollution monitoring, assessment, and control. These categories cover different aspects of the air pollution management cycle and are essential to effectively address this environmental problem.

In the ex situ conservation of chondrichthyan species, successful reproduction in aquaria is essential. However, these species often exhibit reduced reproductive success under human care. A key aspect is that conventional sperm analyses do not provide insights into the functional competence of sperm. However, proteomics analysis enables a better understanding of male physiology, gaining relevance as a powerful tool for discovering protein biomarkers related to fertility. The present work aims to build the first proteome database for shark semen and to investigate the proteomic profiles of seminal plasma and spermatozoa from small-spotted catsharks (Scyliorhinus canicula) related to the underlying adaptations to both natural and aquarium environments, thereby identifying the reproductive impact in aquarium specimens. A total of 305 seminal plasma and 535 spermatozoa proteins were identified. Among these, 89 proteins (29.2% of the seminal plasma set) were common to both spermatozoa and seminal plasma. In the seminal plasma, only adenosylhomocysteinase protein showed differential abundance (DAP) between wild and aquarium animals. With respect to the spermatozoa proteins, a total of 107 DAPs were found between groups. Gene Ontology enrichment analysis highlighted the primary functional roles of these DAPs involved in oxidoreductase activity. Additionally, KEGG analysis indicated that these DAPs were primarily associated with metabolic pathways and carbon metabolism. In conclusion, we have successfully generated an initial proteome database for S. canicula seminal plasma and spermatozoa. Furthermore, we have identified protein variations, predominantly within spermatozoa, between aquarium and wild populations of S. canicula. These findings provide a foundation for future biomarker discovery in shark reproduction studies. However, additional research is required to determine whether these protein variations correlate with reproductive declines in captive sharks.

There is empirical evidence for a close link between positive personal components and students' engagement in academic activities. Personal well-being is a construct that can be studied from a variety of angles. Recent studies point to the relevance of orientation to happiness examining three types of well-being. The main objective of this study was to test the relationship that orientation to happiness has with university students' engagement at a public institution in northern Mexico. A stratified probabilistic sample of 266 students was employed. The internal consistency of the scales was analyzed using the SPSS package and a model of structural equations in the EQS program. Results indicated direct and significant relationship between the orientation to happiness and the students' engagement. This supports the importance of promoting positive factors in students to improve their academic and personal development.

El Liderazgo 4.0, también denominado liderazgo digital es un constructo novedoso que permite que las organizaciones transiten hacia la Industria 4.0. La actual investigación tiene como objetivo validar el contenido de un instrumento de medición de Liderazgo 4.0 por medio del modelo de Lawshe (1975) modificado por Tristán (2008). Lo anterior se logró con la cooperación de 5 expertos en el tema que evaluaron la pertinencia de cada uno de los ítems mediante 3 categorías de valoración: esencial, útil pero no esencial y no necesario. Se obtuvieron resultados de razón de validez de contenido (CVR) que exceden el punto mínimo de corte de 0.58 en 13 de los ítems propuestos y se obtuvo un índice de validez de contenido (CVI) global de 0.73, que se encuentra por encima del punto de corte, lo que indica que el instrumento se considera valido conceptualmente.

El presente artículo describe un modelo didáctico de los contenidos de biodiversidad faunística en la asignatura Biología grado octavo en el nivel educativo Secundaria básica en el contexto cubano. Se siguió una metodología cualitativa, con un enfoque interpretativo-hermenéutico. El proceso modelado se sustentó en tres subsistemas: cognitivo, didáctico - metodológico y axiológico-ambiental, integrados por componentes estructurales y funcionales con relación sistémica, que permitieron revelar como cualidad de orden superior resultante la formación de la cultura ambiental del educando. En su elaboración se emplearon métodos teóricos como el analítico-sintético, inductivo-deductivo y el enfoque de sistema y entre los métodos empíricos el análisis de documentos, la observación participante y la entrevista. Se destacan como resultados, la organización metodológica de los contenidos bilógicos y su abordaje didáctico contextualizado; además, permitió integrar los conocimientos, las habilidades y los valores, así como las maneras de significar por parte de los estudiantes la biodiversidad faunística local, al igual que las prácticas de cuidado, uso racional y respeto a las diferentes formas de vida que habitan en su realidad ambiental próxima. Finalmente, los resultados cuantitativos y cualitativos obtenidos con la aplicación del método evaluación por criterio de expertos demuestran la factibilidad, aplicabilidad y pertinencia de la propuesta.

Since the second half of the 20th century, when monitoring programmes were implemented as a measure to improve the water quality of rivers, numerous advantages have been achieved. one of the most remarkable advances was the integration of bioindicators as a suitable and quick tool to complement the assessment based on the evaluation of physical and chemical parameters. This paper evaluated which of the already used water quality indices based on macroinvertebrates would be more suitable to assess the ecological status of 6 rivers (Barxas, Deva, Tea, Manco, Louro and Furnia rivers) within the Miño River international basin (NW Spain and N Portugal) applying the methodology proposed by the Water Framework Directive (WFD). In addition, the relationship between the water quality and the land uses within a buffer zone of 100 along the watershed of each river was studied. Our findings demonstrate that the IBMWP (Iberian Biomonitoring Working Party) is the most suitable index to evaluate the water quality of rivers from this geographical zone. Nevertheless it is necessary to use other more sensitive index like EPT and PT indices to identify any potential pressures that might be concealed by IBMWP. The tributaries of the Miño River generally presented a good ecological status according to the IBMWP. Nevertheless, the Louro River had the lowest score for all the indices being the worst preserved among all within the basin. On the contrary Barxas, Deva and Furnia rivers showed the higher values. The results indicated that the most urbanised river was the Louro River (13 %) followed, to a lesser extent, by Manco River (7 %) and Tea River (2 %). Consequently, the Louro River had the worst water quality (poor quality) and a less diverse benthic macroinvertebrate community, in which more generalist taxa such as Chironomids, Ceratopogonids, or Crustaceans were found. Background Evidence-based mental health interventions to support healthcare workers (HCWs) in crisis settings are scarce.Objective To evaluate the capacity of a mental health intervention in reducing anxiety and depression symptoms in HCWs, relative to enhanced care as usual (eCAU), amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods We conducted an analyst-blind, parallel, multicentre, randomised controlled trial. We recruited HCWs with psychological distress from Madrid and Catalonia (Spain). The intervention arm received a stepped-care programme consisting of two WHO-developed interventions adapted for HCWs: Doing What Matters in Times of Stress (DWM) and Problem Management Plus (PM+). Each intervention lasted 5 weeks and was delivered remotely by non-specialist mental health providers. HCWs reporting psychological distress after DWM completion were invited to continue to PM+. The primary endpoint was self-reported anxiety/depression symptoms (Patient Health Questionnaire-Anxiety and Depression Scale) at week 21.Findings Between 3 November 2021 and 31 March 2022, 115 participants were randomised to stepped care and 117 to eCAU (86% women, mean age 37.5). The intervention showed a greater decrease in anxiety/depression symptoms compared with eCAU at the primary endpoint (baseline-adjusted difference 4.4, 95% CI 2.1 to 6.7; standardised effect size 0.8, 95% CI 0.4 to 1.2). No serious adverse events occurred.Conclusions Brief stepped-care psychological interventions reduce anxiety and depression during a period of stress among HCWs.Clinical implications Our results can inform policies and actions to protect the mental health of HCWs during major health crises and are potentially rapidly replicable in other settings where workers are affected by global emergencies.Trial registration number NCT04980326.

Angiokeratoma circumscriptum is the rarest variant of angiokeratoma. It usually affects females and it is characterized by dark-red to blue-black confluent papules or nodules on lower limbs in a segmental and unilateral distribution. We describe the clinical and histopathological findings in a patient with angiokeratoma circumscriptum and discuss the etiology, associations, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment.

Subcutaneous fat necrosis of the newborn is a rare lobular panniculitis. It is characteristic of term or post-term neonates with a history of perinatal compromise or maternal gestational pathology. The cutaneous manifestations consist of erythematous and indurated subcutaneous plaques and nodules located over the dorsal region and the shoulders. Diagnosis is clinical and pathological. Histopathological findings include lobular panniculitis with a lymphohistiocytic inflammatory infiltrate with few neutrophils, fatty necrosis, deposition of radial needle-shaped crystals in the adipocytes, and possible calcification and hemorrhage. The cutaneous ultrasound shows hyperechoic and avascular subcutaneous cellular tissue and acoustic shadows may appear corresponding to calcifications. The clinical differential diagnosis includes sclerema neonatorum and post-corticosteroid panniculitis. Histologically crystal-forming panniculitis conditions are in the differential diagnosis. The disease is usually self-limited but complications such as hypercalcemia, hypoglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia may occur. Complications should be ruled out and treated at diagnosis and during follow-up. The most important complication is hypercalcemia.La necrosis grasa subcutánea neonatal es una paniculitis lobulillar infrecuente. Es característica de neonatos a término o postérmino con antecedentes de sufrimiento perinatal o patología gestacional materna. Las manifestaciones cutáneas consisten en placas y nódulos subcutáneos eritematosos e indurados localizados preferentemente en la región dorsal y los hombros. El diagnóstico es clínicopatológico. Los hallazgos histopatológicos comprenden una paniculitis lobulillar con un infiltrado inflamatorio linfohistiocitario con escasos neutrófilos, necrosis grasa, depósito de cristales radiados en los adipocitos y posibles focos de calcificación y hemorragia. En la ecografía cutánea se observa hiperecogenicidad y avascularización del tejido celular subcutáneo y pueden aparecer sombras acústicas posteriores que se correspondencon calcificaciones. El diagnóstico diferencial clínico se debe realizar con el escleredema neonatorum y la paniculitis postesteroidea, e histológicamente con las paniculitis con formación de cristales. La enfermedad suele ser autolimitada pero pueden aparecer complicaciones como la hipercalcemia, la hipoglucemia, la hipertrigliceridemia, latrombocitopenia y la anemia. Las complicaciones deben ser descartadas y tratadas en el diagnóstico y durante el seguimiento. La complicación másimportante es la hipercalcemia.

Abstract Our work group designed and synthesized a promissory compound N-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2-propylpentanamide (HO-AAVPA). The HO-AAVPA is a HDAC1 inhibitor and antiproliferative in cancer cell lines. However, HO-AAVPA is poor water solubility and enzymatically metabolized. In this work, the fourth-generation poly(amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMAM-G4) was used as a drug deliver carrier of HO-AAVPA. Moreover, HO-AAVPA and HO-AAVPA-PAMAM complex were submitted to forced degradation studies (heat, acid, base, oxidation and sunlight). Also, the HO-AAVPA-PAMAM-G4 complex was assayed as antiproliferative in a breast cancer cell line (MCF-7). The HO-AAVPA-PAMAM-G4 complex was obtained by docking and experimentally using three pH conditions: acid (pH = 3.0), neutral (pH = 7.0) and basic (pH = 9.0) showing that PAMAM-G4 captureand protect the HO-AAVPA from forced degradation, it is due to sunlight yielded a by-product from HO-AAVPA. Abstract Background Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) donors are crucial tools not only for understanding the role of H2S in cellular function but also as promising therapeutic agents for oxidative stress-related diseases. This study aimed to explore the effect of amino acid-derived N-thiocarboxyanhydrides (NTAs), which release physiological H2S levels in the presence of carbonic anhydrase, on porcine sperm function during short-term incubation with and without induced oxidative stress. For this purpose, we employed two H2S-releasing NTAs with release half-lives (t 1/2) in the range of hours that derived from the amino acids glycine (Gly-NTA) or leucine (Leu-NTA). Because carbonic anhydrase is crucial for H2S release from NTAs, we first measured the activity of this enzyme in the porcine ejaculate. Then, we tested the effect of Gly- and Leu-NTAs at 10 and 1 nM on sperm mitochondrial activity, plasma membrane integrity, acrosomal status, motility, motile subpopulations, and redox balance during short-term incubation at 38 °C with and without a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-generating system. Results Our results show that carbonic anhydrase is found both in spermatozoa and seminal plasma, with activity notably higher in the latter. Both Gly- and Leu-NTAs did not exert any noxious effects, but they enhanced sperm mitochondrial activity in the presence and absence of oxidative stress. Moreover, NTAs (except for Leu-NTA 10 nM) tended to preserve the sperm redox balance against the injuries provoked by oxidative stress, which provide further support to the antioxidant effect of H2S on sperm function. Both compounds also increased progressive motility over short-term incubation, which may translate into prolonged sperm survival. Conclusions The presence of carbonic anhydrase activity in mammalian spermatozoa makes NTAs promising molecules to investigate the role of H2S in sperm biology. For the first time, beneficial effects of NTAs on mitochondrial activity have been found in mammalian cells in the presence and absence of oxidative stress. NTAs are interesting compounds to investigate the role of H2S in sperm mitochondria-dependent events and to develop H2S-related therapeutic protocols against oxidative stress in assisted reproductive technologies.

Positive psychology is vital in increasing prosocial behavior and reducing bullying. However, limited studies have analyzed the influence of positive personal characteristics on the prosocial behaviors of bystanders in bullying. The present study examined direct and indirect relationships between spirituality, happiness, altruism, and prosocial bystander behavior in bullying. Participants in this study were 685 students from Northwestern Mexico; 51% were male and 49% female, between 12 and 18 years old (M = 14.3 years, SD = 1.68). A structural equation model (SEM) was calculated. The results indicate that happiness and altruism were related to prosocial bystander behavior. Spirituality and happiness have an indirect relationship by increasing prosocial bystander behavior through the positive effects of altruism. The SEM explained 48% of the variance of the prosocial bystander. The implications for improving defensive behavior in bullying and reducing school violence are discussed.

Background: In vitro studies have shown that several oral antiseptics have virucidal activity against SARS-CoV-2. Thus, mouthwashes have been proposed as an easy to implement strategy to reduce viral transmission. However, there are no data measuring SARS-CoV-2 viability after mouthwashes in vivo. Methods: In this randomized double-blind, five-parallel-group, placebo-controlled clinical trial, SARS-CoV-2 salivary viral load (by quantitative PCR) and its infectious capacity (incubating saliva in cell cultures) have been evaluated before and after four different antiseptic mouthwashes and placebo in 54 COVID-19 patients. Results: Contrary to in vitro evidence, salivary viral load was not affected by any of the four tested mouthwashes. Viral culture indicated that cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) significantly reduced viral infectivity, but only at 1-hour post-mouthwash.
