131. Topological Fulde-Ferrell Superfluids in Triangular Lattices

Abstract

Fulde-Ferrell (FF) Larkin-Ovchinnikov (LO) phases were proposed for superconductors or superfluids in strong magnetic field. With the experimental progresses in ultracold atomic systems, topological FFLO phases has also been put forward, since it is a natural consequence of realizable spin-orbital coupling (SOC).In this work, we theoretically investigate a triangular lattice model with SOC and in-plane field. By constructing the phase diagram, we show that it can produce topological FF states with Chern numbers, $C=\pm1$ and $C=-2$. We get the phase boundaries by the change of the sign of Pfaffian. The chiral edge states for different topological FF phases are also elucidated., Comment: 6 pages, 5figures

Abstract

Craniofacial microsomia (CFM), also known as the oculo‐auriculo‐vertebral spectrum, is a congenital disorder characterized by hypoplasia of the mandible and external ear due to tissue malformations originating from the first and second branchial arches. However, distinguishing it from other syndromes of branchial arch abnormalities is difficult, and causal variants remain unidentified in many cases. In this report, we performed an exome sequencing analysis of a Brazilian family with CFM. The proband was a 12‐month‐old boy with clinical findings consistent with the diagnostic criteria for CFM, including unilateral mandibular hypoplasia, microtia, and external auditory canal abnormalities. A heterozygous de novo nonsense variant (c.713C>G, p.S238*) in PUF60 was identified, which was predicted to be pathogenic in silico. PUF60 has been reported as a causal gene in Verheij syndrome, but not in CFM. Although the boy showed craniofacial abnormalities and developmental delay that overlapped with Verheij syndrome, the facial asymmetry with unilateral hypoplasia of the mandible observed in this case did not match the previously reported phenotypes of PUF60 variants. Abstract

The output of renewable energy sources is characterized by random fluctuations, and considering scenarios with a stochastic renewable energy output is of great significance for energy storage planning. Existing scenario generation methods based on random sampling fail to account for the volatility and temporal characteristics of renewable energy output. To enhance photovoltaic (PV) absorption capacity and reduce the cost of planning distributed PV and energy storage systems, a scenario-driven optimization configuration strategy for energy storage in high-proportion renewable energy power systems is proposed, incorporating demand-side response and bidirectional dynamic reconfiguration strategies into the planning model. Firstly, this paper designs a time series scenario generation method for renewable energy output based on a Deep Belief Network (DBN) to fully explore the characteristics of renewable energy output. Then, considering various cost factors of PV and energy storage, a capacity determination model is established by analyzing the relationship between annual planning costs, PV connection capacity, energy storage installation capacity, and power. Case studies are conducted on the IEEE-33 node system to compare and analyze the impact of active distribution network strategies on the planning results of PV and energy storage equipment under different scenarios. The results show that by incorporating demand-side response and bidirectional dynamic reconfiguration strategies into the active distribution network, the selection and sizing of PV energy storage can significantly improve the PV absorption capacity, achieve the lowest planning cost, and address the issue of low voltage levels during periods of excess PV output due to bidirectional reconfiguration. This improves the economic efficiency and reliability of the operation of power distribution networks with a high proportion of PV, providing a solution for energy storage planning that considers the randomness of renewable energy output. 148. How do signs organize in directed signed social networks?

Abstract

We introduce a reshuffled approach to empirical analyze signs' organization in real directed signed social networks of Epinions and Slashdots from the global viewpoint. In the reshuffled approach, each negative link has probability $p_{rs}$ to exchange its sign with another positive link chosen randomly. Through calculating the entropies of social status ($S_{in}$ and $S_{out}$) of and mimicking opinion formation of the majority-rule model on each reshuffled signed network, we find that $S_{in}$ and $S_{out}$ reach their own minimum values as well as the magnetization $|m^{*}|$ reaches its maximum value at $p_{rs}=0$. Namely, individuals share the homogeneous properties of social status and dynamic status in real directed signed social networks. Our present work provides some interesting tools and perspective to understand the signs' organization in signed social networks.

Abstract

We empirical study the signs' property in the directed signed social networks of Slashdot and Epinions by using an reshuffled approach. Through calculating the entropy $S_{out}$ and the giant component $G$, we find an interesting 90/10 phenomenon: each individual labels his/her neighbors as friends with $90\%$ or foes with $10\%$ uniformly random from the macroscopic perspective. We also find that the entropy $S_{out}$ is suppressed by the non-randomness of labeling sign. Our present work can prove how do the randomness and the non-randomness coexist in human behavior of labeling signs, qualitatively.

150. Colossal Magnetocapacitance Effect and Multiferroism of Polycrystalline La0.2Pb0.7Fe12O19

Abstract

The mutual control of the electric and magnetic properties of a multiferroic solid is of fundamental and great technological importance. We report here on the colossal magnetoelectric coupling effect of polycrystalline La0.2Pb0.7Fe12O19. A large classic ferroelectric hysteresis loop with full saturation and a strong magnetic hysteresis loop were observed simultaneously in polycrystalline La0.2Pb0.7Fe12O19 due to the coexistence of an off-centered FeO6 octahedron in its unit cell and electron spins in the partially filled 3d orbits of the Fe3+ ions. The coupling voltage and capacity demonstrate giant oscillations, along with magnetic field; the maximum magnetocapacitance ratio exceeds 1.9E5 at 80 Hz. The substitution of La ions with Pb ions progressively stabilized the conical spin structure, which gave rise to the spin-current induced capacity oscillations upon magnetic field., Comment: The manuscript addresses several significant advances in multiferroic materials, including discovery of the coexistence of large ferroelectricity and strong ferromagnetism as well as colossal magnetocapacitance effect in a new M-type hexaferrite compound: La0.2Pb0.7Fe12O19
