Abstract

Understanding product attributes plays an important role in improving online shopping experience for customers and serves as an integral part for constructing a product knowledge graph. Most existing methods focus on attribute extraction from text description or utilize visual information from product images such as shape and color. Compared to the inputs considered in prior works, a product image in fact contains more information, represented by a rich mixture of words and visual clues with a layout carefully designed to impress customers. This work proposes a more inclusive framework that fully utilizes these different modalities for attribute extraction. Inspired by recent works in visual question answering, we use a transformer based sequence to sequence model to fuse representations of product text, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tokens and visual objects detected in the product image. The framework is further extended with the capability to extract attribute value across multiple product categories with a single model, by training the decoder to predict both product category and attribute value and conditioning its output on product category. The model provides a unified attribute extraction solution desirable at an e-commerce platform that offers numerous product categories with a diverse body of product attributes. We evaluated the model on two product attributes, one with many possible values and one with a small set of possible values, over 14 product categories and found the model could achieve 15% gain on the Recall and 10% gain on the F1 score compared to existing methods using text-only features., Comment: KDD 2021

Abstract

In order to accurately measure and analyze energy efficiency of traction systems, especially in the current absence of relevant standard references, this article presents an energy efficiency measurement system developed based on the requirements of IEC 62888-2:2018 for electric energy testing and GB/T 25117.1-2010 for torque and speed measuring instruments, taking the traction system of electric multiple units (EMUs) as the research object. To improve measurement accuracy, a purpose-made high-voltage acquisition board with isolation is designed to directly collect the output voltage signal of the 27.5 kV transformer and a pulse-type output torque-speed sensor to measure the mechanical parameters of the traction motor, enabling synchronous collection of both electrical and mechanical parameters. Through experiments conducted with standard signal sources, it is verified that the measurement accuracy of system energy consumption surpasses the standard requirement by 1.5%. Furthermore, regarding measurement of mechanical parameters, the torque accuracy exceeds the standard requirement by 0.5%, while the speed accuracy surpasses it by 0.1%. Meanwhile, in order to verify the system accuracy in dynamic energy consumption measurement, a high-precision power analyzer and this measurement system were used to simultaneously measure the energy consumption of the traction system with the same track data, revealing a relative error of less than 1%

Abstract

Phenolic resin (PF) was combined with nitrile rubber (NBR) as vulcanizing agent and blend respectively, the effects of PF amount on mechanical properties, damping properties and oil resistance of NBR were studied, and chlorinated paraffin (CP 52) was introduced into it to prepare NBR/PF/CP 52 ternary composites with high damping properties at room temperature. The results showed that PF could significantly broaden the effective damping temperature range of NBR and shift glass transition temperature of NBR to high temperature. Compared with NBR/PF blend, the vulcanizate prepared with PF as vulcanizing agent had better mechanical strength and oil resistance. The tensile strength and tear strength of the vulcanizate with 50 phr (mass) PF were 23.27 MPa and 38.47 MPa respectively, and the mass changerate was only 1.36% after 72 h of hot oil immersion, meeting the requirements of engineering application. CP 52 could further enhance the damping properties of the composite by forming a strong intermolecular van der Waals force with NBR. When m(NBR)/m(PF)/m(CP 52) was 100/50/75, the effective damping temperature range of the composite was -9-45.5 ℃, and the peak value of loss factor was up to 1.48, which had excellent damping properties at room temperature.

Abstract

Due to their mechanical load-bearing and functional wave transmission, adhesively bonded joints of carbon fiber–quartz fiber composites have been widely used in the new generation of stealth aviation equipment. However, the curing defects, caused by deviations between the process environment and the setting parameters, directly affect the service performance of the joint during the curing cycle. Therefore, the thermophysical parameter evolution of adhesive films was analyzed via dynamic DSC (differential scanning calorimeter), isothermal DSC and TGA (thermal gravimetric analyzer) tests. The various prefabricating defects within the adhesive layer were used to systematically simulate the impacts of void defects on the tensile properties, and orthogonal tests were designed to clarify the effects of the curing process parameters on the joints’ bonding performance. The results demonstrate that the J-116 B adhesive film starts to cure at a temperature of 160 °C and gradually forms a three-dimensional mesh-bearing structure. Furthermore, a bonding interface between the J-116 B adhesive film and the components to be connected is generated. When the curing temperature exceeds 200 °C, both the adhesive film and the resin matrix thermally degrade the molecular structure. The adhesive strength weakens with an increasing defect area ratio and number, remaining more sensitive to triangle, edge and penetration defects. By affecting the molecular structure of the adhesive film, the curing temperature has a significant impact on the bonding properties; when the curing degree is ensured, the curing pressure directly impacts the adhesive’s performance by influencing the morphology, number and distribution of voids. Conversely, the heating rate and heat preservation time have minimal effects on the bonding performance.

Abstract

We address the following question: Given a polarized toric surface (S,L), and a general integral curve C of geometric genus g in the linear system |L|, do there exist degenerations of C in |L| to general integral curves of smaller geometric genera? We give an affirmative answer to this question for surfaces associated to h-transverse polygons, provided that the characteristic of the ground field is large enough. We give examples of surfaces in small characteristic, for which the answer to the question is negative. In case the answer is affirmative, we deduce that a general curve C as above is nodal. Abstract

Can one build a knowledge graph (KG) for all products in the world? Knowledge graphs have firmly established themselves as valuable sources of information for search and question answering, and it is natural to wonder if a KG can contain information about products offered at online retail sites. There have been several successful examples of generic KGs, but organizing information about products poses many additional challenges, including sparsity and noise of structured data for products, complexity of the domain with millions of product types and thousands of attributes, heterogeneity across large number of categories, as well as large and constantly growing number of products. We describe AutoKnow, our automatic (self-driving) system that addresses these challenges. The system includes a suite of novel techniques for taxonomy construction, product property identification, knowledge extraction, anomaly detection, and synonym discovery. AutoKnow is (a) automatic, requiring little human intervention, (b) multi-scalable, scalable in multiple dimensions (many domains, many products, and many attributes), and (c) integrative, exploiting rich customer behavior logs. Abstract

In this paper, we show that Severi varieties parameterizing irreducible reduced planar curves of a given degree and geometric genus are either empty or irreducible in any characteristic. Following Severi's original idea, this gives a new proof of the irreducibility of the moduli space of smooth projective curves of a given genus in positive characteristic. It is the first proof that involves no reduction to the characteristic zero case. As a further consequence, we generalize Zariski's theorem to positive characteristic and show that a general reduced planar curve of a given geometric genus is nodal., Comment: 36 pages, 9 figures. v2: Minor changes throughout the paper. v3: Added two references.
