We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally that the Gouy phase of a focused laser beam may be used to control the photo-induced reactions of a polyatomic molecule. Quantum mechanical interference between one- and three-photon excitation of vinyl chloride produces a small phase lag between the dissociation and ionization channels on the axis of the molecular beam. Away from the axis, the Gouy phase introduces a much larger phase lag that agrees quantitatively with theory without any adjustable parameters., Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures

New boundary bound states (BBS) are found of an integrable model with the magnetic impurities located at the edges of an open Heisenberg spin chain. These bound states carry the real energy and are formed by three or five imaginary modes of the rapidities. These imaginary modes of the rapidities give the non-zero antisymmetric wave functions and the moments of the centers of the bound states are zero. It means that these bound states are arisen by the magnetic impurities and localized at the edges of the correlated system. From the open boundary t-J model, an impurity model is constructed in which magnetic impurities of arbitrary spins are coupled to the edges of the strongly correlated electron system. The boundary R matrices are given explicitly. The interaction parameters between magnetic impurities and electrons are related to the potentials of the impurities to preserve the integrability of the system. The Hamiltonian of the impurity model is diagonalized exactly. The integral equations of the ground state are derived and the ground state properties are discussed in details. We discuss also the string solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations, which describe the bound states of the charges and spins. By minimizing the thermodynamic potential we get the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations. The finite size correction of the free energy contributed by the magnetic impurities is obtained explicitly. The general Helfrich shape equation determined by minimizing the curvature free energy describes the equilibrium shapes of the axisymmetric lipid bilayer vesicles in different conditions. It is a non-linear differential equation with variable coefficients. In this letter, by analyzing the unique property of the solution, we change this shape equation into a system of the two differential equations. One of them is a linear differential equation. This equation system contains all of the known rigorous solutions of the general shape equation. The Kondo problem of two impurities in 1D strongly correlated electron system within the framework of the open boundary Hubbard chain is solved and the impurities, coupled to the ends of the electron system, are introduced by their scattering matrices with electrons so that the boundary matrices satisfy the reflecting integrability condition. The finite size correction of the ground state energy is obtained due to the impurities. Exact expressions for the low temperature specific heat contributed by the charge and spin parts of the magnetic impurities are derived. The Pauli susceptibility and the Kondo temperature are given explicitly. In this letter, we construct a Hamiltonian of the impurity model within the framework of the open boundary Heisenberg XYZ spin chain. This impurity model is an exactly solved one and it degenerates to the integrable XXZ impurity model under the triangular limit. In this letter, the Kondo magnetic effect is studied for the $XXZ$ spin chain where the impurities are coupled to the edges of the system. The Hamiltonian of our model can be constructed from the transfer matrix. It is exactly solvable and the exchange constants between the bulk and the boundary impurities are arbitrary. The finite size corrections to the ground state energy are obtained for the magnetic impurities and the boundary condition. In this paper, a three-dimensional vertex model is obtained. It is a duality of the three-dimensional integrable lattice model with $N$ states proposed by Boos, Mangazeev, Sergeev and Stroganov. The Boltzmann weight of the model is dependent on four spin variables, which are the linear combinations of the spins on the corner sites of the cube, and obeys the modified vertex type tetrahedron equation. This vertex model can be regard as a deformation of the one related the three-dimensional Baxter-Bazhanov model. The constrained conditions of the spectrums are discussed in detail and the symmetry properties of weight functions of the vertex model are presented., Comment: 15 pages, latex, no figures

We find that the Boltzmann weight of the three-dimensional Baxter-Bazhanov model is dependent on four spin variables which are the linear combinations of the spins on the corner sites of the cube and the Wu-Kadanoff duality between the cube and vertex type tetrahedron equations is obtained explicitly for the Baxter-Bazhanov model. Then a three-dimensional vertex model is obtained by considering the symmetry property of the weight function, which is corresponding to the three-dimensional Baxter-Bazhanov model. The vertex type weight function is parametrized as the dihedral angles between the rapidity planes connected with the cube. And we write down the symmetry relations of the weight functions under the actions of the symmetry group $G$ of the cube.
