The PHENIX experiment has performed a systematic study of identified charged-hadron ($\pi^\pm$, $K^\pm$, $p$, $\bar{p}$) production at midrapidity in $p$$+$Al, $^3$He$+$Au, Cu$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV and U$+$U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=193$ GeV. Identified charged-hadron invariant transverse-momentum ($p_T$) and transverse-mass ($m_T$) spectra are presented and interpreted in terms of radially expanding thermalized systems. The particle ratios of $K/\pi$ and $p/\pi$ have been measured in different centrality ranges of large (Cu$+$Au, U$+$U) and small ($p$$+$Al, $^3$He$+$Au) collision systems. The values of $K/\pi$ ratios measured in all considered collision systems were found to be consistent with those measured in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. However the values of $p/\pi$ ratios measured in large collision systems reach the values of $\approx0.6$, which is $\approx2$ times larger than in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. These results can be qualitatively understood in terms of the baryon enhancement expected from hadronization by recombination. Identified charged-hadron nuclear-modification factors ($R_{AB}$) are also presented. Enhancement of proton $R_{AB}$ values over meson $R_{AB}$ values was observed in central $^3$He$+$Au, Cu$+$Au, and U$+$U collisions. The proton $R_{AB}$ values measured in $p$$+$Al collision system were found to be consistent with $R_{AB}$ values of $\phi$, $\pi^\pm$, $K^\pm$, and $\pi^0$ mesons, which may indicate that the size of the system produced in $p$$+$Al collisions is too small for recombination to cause a noticeable increase in proton production., Comment: 480 authors from 78 institutions, 18 pages, 6 tables, 16 figures. v2 is version accepted for publication in Physical Review C. A growing number of researchers are conducting randomized experiments to analyze causal relationships in network settings where units influence one another. A dominant methodology for analyzing these experiments is design-based, leveraging random treatment assignments as the basis for inference. In this paper, we generalize this design-based approach to accommodate complex experiments with a variety of causal estimands and different target populations. An important special case of such generalized network experiments is a bipartite network experiment, in which treatment is randomized among one set of units, and outcomes are measured on a separate set of units. We propose a broad class of causal estimands based on stochastic interventions for generalized network experiments. Using a design-based approach, we show how to estimate these causal quantities without bias and develop conservative variance estimators. We apply our methodology to a randomized experiment in education where participation in an anti-conflict promotion program is randomized among selected students. Our analysis estimates the causal effects of treating each student or their friends among different target populations in the network. We find that the program improves the overall conflict awareness among students but does not significantly reduce the total number of such conflicts.

How can we analyze quantum correlations in large and noisy systems without quantum state tomography? An established method is to measure total angular momenta and employ the so-called spin-squeezing inequalities based on their expectations and variances. This allows detection of metrologically useful entanglement, but efficient strategies for estimating such nonlinear quantities have yet to be determined. In this paper we show that spin-squeezing inequalities can not only be evaluated by measurements of the total angular momentum but also by two-qubit correlations, either involving all pair correlations or randomly chosen pair correlations. Then we analyze the estimation errors of our approaches in terms of a hypothesis test. For this purpose, we discuss how error bounds can be derived for nonlinear estimators with the help of their variances, characterizing the probability of falsely detecting a separable state as entangled. We focus on the spin-squeezing inequalities in multiqubit systems. We consider a six dimensional gauge theory compactified on $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_2$ with magnetic flux. The configurations of models are classified by winding numbers at the fixed points. Shogi is a traditional Japanese strategy board game in the same family as chess, chaturanga, and xiangqi, and has been theoretically studied from various aspects. The research on recommended sequences of moves in each opening of shogi is called joseki; how to use a rook (Static Rook and Ranging Rook), or how to develop a castle, etc. Also, many pieces of tsume shogi, artistic shogi miniature problems, in which the opponent's king is checkmated by a series of checks, have been created involving various beautiful techniques such as "saw" and "puzzle ring". In addition, the rapid development of AI in recent years has led to the pursuit of the best possible moves in shogi. In this paper, we move away from the study of winning and losing in shogi and focus on the mathematical aspects of the movement of shogi pieces. We propose to correspond movements of shogi pieces to a set of geometrical patterns constructed by the shape of shogi pieces and representing the Frieze group through the condition regarding the neighborhood of arrangements of given shogi pieces. Although the discovery of this correspondence does not lead to a winning strategy for shogi, however, it does demonstrate a curious involvement between the traditional Japanese board game and Western mathematics., Comment: 25 pages, 21 figures

Translocation of a daughter vesicle from a mother vesicle through a pore is experimentally studied by many groups using a model system of self-reproducing vesicles. However, the theoretical formulation of the problem is not fully understood. In the present study, we present a theoretical formulation of the process based on our previous work [P. Khunpetch et al., Phys. Fluids 33, 077103 (2021)]. In our previous work, we considered the daughter vesicle as a rigid body. In the present work, however, we allow the daughter vesicle to deform during the expulsion process. We thus derive the free energy constituting of the elastic moduli of both the mother and daughter vesicles, and of pressure-driven contribution. The minimum energy path of the translocation is searched by using the string method. Our improved model successfully suggests the disappearance of the energy barrier where all the elastic moduli are in agreement with the experimental reports, while the previous work is unsuccessful to do so. The equations of motion of the daughter vesicle have been derived within the framework of the Onsager principle. We found that the translocation time of the daughter vesicle can be reduced when the pressure inside the mother vesicle increases, or the initial size of the daughter vesicle decreases.

This paper focuses on the DialFRED task, which is the task of embodied instruction following in a setting where an agent can actively ask questions about the task. To address this task, we propose DialMAT. DialMAT introduces Moment-based Adversarial Training, which incorporates adversarial perturbations into the latent space of language, image, and action. Additionally, it introduces a crossmodal parallel feature extraction mechanism that applies foundation models to both language and image. We evaluated our model using a dataset constructed from the DialFRED dataset and demonstrated superior performance compared to the baseline method in terms of success rate and path weighted success rate. The present studies show that long-range magnetic order takes place in RuBr$_3$ at $\approx$ 34 K. The observations of clear oscillations in the muon time spectra demonstrate the presence of well-defined internal fields at the muon sites. The magnetic ordering appears to be very robust and static suggesting a more conventional nature of magnetic ordering in the RuBr$_3$ system at zero field. Present investigations prove that in RuBr$_3$ the Kitaev interactions are likely to be weakened at zero field in comparison to the $\alpha$-RuCl$_3$ system. While there now exists a large literature on policy evaluation and learning, much of prior work assumes that the treatment assignment of one unit does not affect the outcome of another unit. Unfortunately, ignoring interference may lead to biased policy evaluation and ineffective learned policies. For example, treating influential individuals who have many friends can generate positive spillover effects, thereby improving the overall performance of an individualized treatment rule (ITR). We consider the problem of evaluating and learning an optimal ITR under clustered network interference (also known as partial interference) where clusters of units are sampled from a population and units may influence one another within each cluster. Unlike previous methods that impose strong restrictions on spillover effects, the proposed methodology only assumes a semiparametric structural model where each unit's outcome is an additive function of individual treatments within the cluster. Under this model, we propose an estimator that can be used to evaluate the empirical performance of an ITR. We show that this estimator is substantially more efficient than the standard inverse probability weighting estimator, which does not impose any assumption about spillover effects. We derive the finite-sample regret bound for a learned ITR, showing that the use of our efficient evaluation estimator leads to the improved performance of learned policies. Finally, we conduct simulation and empirical studies to illustrate the advantages of the proposed methodology.

For the integral canonical model $\mathscr{S}_{\mathsf{K}^p}$ of a Shimura variety $\mathrm{Sh}_{\mathsf{K}_0\mathsf{K}^p}(\mathbf{G},\mathbf{X})$ of abelian type at hyperspecial level $K_0=\mathcal{G}(\mathbb{Z}_p)$, we construct a prismatic $F$-gauge model for the `universal' $\mathcal{G}(\mathbb{Z}_p)$-local system on $\mathrm{Sh}_{\mathsf{K}_0\mathsf{K}^p}(\mathbf{G},\mathbf{X})$. We use this to obtain new $p$-adic information about these Shimura varieties, notably an abelian-type analogue of the Serre--Tate theorem (realizing an expectation of Drinfeld in the abelian-type case) and a prismatic characterization of these models. Excited states in the $T_z = 0, -1$ nuclei $^{62}$Ga and $^{62}$Ge were populated in direct reactions of relativistic radioactive ion beams at the RIBF. Coincident \grays were measured with the DALI2$^+$ array and uniquely assigned to the $A=62$ isobars. In addition, $^{62}$Ge was also studied independently at JYFL-ACCLAB using the ${}^{24}$Mg(${}^{40}$Ca,$2n$)${}^{62}$Ge fusion-evaporation reaction. The first excited $T=1, J^\pi =2^+$ states in $^{62}$Ga and $^{62}$Ge were identified at $979(1)$ and $965(1)$~keV, respectively, resolving discrepant interpretations in the literature. States beyond the first $2^+$ state in $^{62}$Ge were also identified for the first time in the present work. The results are compared with shell-model calculations in the $fp$ model space. Mirror and triplet energy differences are analyzed in terms of individual charge-symmetry and charge-independence breaking contributions. Across a wide array of disciplines, many researchers use machine learning (ML) algorithms to identify a subgroup of individuals who are likely to benefit from a treatment the most (``exceptional responders'') or those who are harmed by it. A common approach to this subgroup identification problem consists of two steps. First, researchers estimate the conditional average treatment effect (CATE) using an ML algorithm. Next, they use the estimated CATE to select those individuals who are predicted to be most affected by the treatment, either positively or negatively. Unfortunately, CATE estimates are often biased and noisy. In addition, utilizing the same data to both identify a subgroup and estimate its group average treatment effect results in a multiple testing problem. To address these challenges, we develop uniform confidence bands for estimation of the group average treatment effect sorted by generic ML algorithm (GATES). Using these uniform confidence bands, researchers can identify, with a statistical guarantee, a subgroup whose GATES exceeds a certain effect size, regardless of how this effect size is chosen. The validity of the proposed methodology depends solely on randomization of treatment and random sampling of units. Importantly, our method does not require modeling assumptions and avoids a computationally intensive resampling procedure. A simulation study shows that the proposed uniform confidence bands are reasonably informative and have an appropriate empirical coverage even when the sample size is as small as 100. We analyze a clinical trial of late-stage prostate cancer and find a relatively large proportion of exceptional responders.

Water fountains (WFs) are thought to be objects in the morphological evolution of the circumstellar envelopes of low- and intermediate-mass evolved stars, transitioning from spherically symmetric to asymmetric shapes. We used databases of circumstellar 1612 MHz OH and 22.235 GHz H$_2$O maser sources to search for new WF candidates using the criterion of a larger velocity range of the H$_2$O maser emission compared to that of the OH maser emission. Thus, it is in principle possible to identify WFs with an H$_2$O velocity ranges smaller than those for the previously known WFs. For the OH maser line, we analyzed database entries of 8,474 observations from 2,195 sources, and 6,085 observations from 3,642 sources for H$_2$O maser line. After a close examination of the velocity ranges and line profiles, we identified 11 sources that meet the criterion mentioned above. We examined the IRAS colors of the selected sources and found that two of them (IRAS 19069+0916 and IRAS 19319+2214) are in the color region for post-AGB stars. We find that the maser velocity criterion can discover other astrophysically interesting objects than just WFs. While vehicles have primarily been controlled through mechanical means in years past, an increasing number of embedded control systems are being installed and used, keeping pace with advances in electronic control technology and performance. Automotive systems consist of multiple components developed by a range of vendors. To accelerate developments in embedded control systems, industrial standards such as AUTOSAR are being defined for automotive systems, including the design of operating system and middleware technologies. Crucial to ensuring the safety of automotive systems, the operating system is foundational software on which many automotive applications are executed. In this paper, we propose an integrated model-based method for verifying automotive operating systems; our method is called Model-Checking in the Loop Model-Based Testing (MCIL-MBT). In MCIL-MBT, we create a model that formalizes specifications of automotive operating systems and verifies the specifications via model-checking. Next, we conduct model-based testing with the verified model to ensure that a specific operating system implementation conforms to the model. These verification and testing stages are iterated over until no flaws are detected. Our method has already been introduced to an automotive system supplier and an operating system vendor. Through our approach, we successfully identified flaws that were not detected by conventional review and testing methods.
