126. Comparison of production performance and nutritional quality of alfalfa with different autumn dormancy levels in Shihezi area.

Abstract

The experiment was to study the nutritional quality and production performance of alfalfa with different autumn dormancy grades in Shihezi area, to obtain excellent dormancy alfalfa varieties suitable for local planting. Ten alfalfa varieties with different autumn dormancy levels were selected as experimental materials. The nutritional quality, production index and overwintering rate of alfalfa in early flowering period were determined and evaluated comprehensively. The results showed that the first group of non-autumn dormancy and extreme non-autumn dormancy alfalfa, represented by Yumu No. 1, had excellent production performance and nutritional quality, but poor wintering ability. Semi-autumn dormancy alfalfa (Xinjiang Daye, Victoria and Archer) had strong wintering ability and good comprehensive performance. Autumn dormancy alfalfa (Zhaodong, Xinmu No. 2 and Qishi No. 2) had strong wintering ability, but its comprehensive performance was poor. The study indicates that considering the local climate and perennial characteristics of alfalfa, semi-autumn dormancy alfalfa (Xinjiang Daye, Victoria and Archer) with good comprehensive performance and strong wintering ability should be optimized. Abstract

Bimodal imaging probes that combine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and photoluminescence imaging are quite appealing since they can supply both anatomical and molecular information to effectively ameliorate the accuracy of detection. In this study, an activatable nanoprobe, [Eu(BTD)3(DPBT)]@MnO2, for bimodal time-gated luminescence imaging (TGLI) and MRI has been constructed by anchoring visible-light-excitable Eu3+ complexes on lamellar MnO2 nanosheets. Due to the luminescence quenching effect and non-magnetic resonance (MR) activity of MnO2 nanosheets, the developed nanoprobe presents quite weak TGL and MR signals. After exposure to H2O2 or GSH, accompanied by the transformation from MnO2 to Mn2+, the nanoprobe exhibits rapid, sensitive, and selective "turn-on" responses towards GSH and H2O2 in TGL and MR detection modes. Furthermore, the nanoprobe displays high stability, low cytotoxicity, good biocompatibility and water dispersion. Given the high contents of GSH and H2O2 in cancer cells, the nanoprobe was used for the identification of cancer cells by TGLI of intracellular GSH and H2O2, as well as for the tracing of tumor cells in tumor-bearing mice by tumor-targeting in vivo MRI and TGLI of tumor tissues. The research outcomes proved the potential of [Eu(BTD)3(DPBT)]@MnO2 as a useful nanoprobe for the tracing and accurate detection of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo via bimodal TGLI and MRI. Abstract

To analyze the initial learning curve (LC) for robot-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy (RAPD) and compare RAPD during the initial LC with open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD) in terms of outcome. This study is a retrospective review of patients who consecutively underwent RAPD and OPD between October 2015 and January 2020 in our hospital. 41 consecutive RAPD cases and 53 consecutive open cases were enrolled for review. Compared with OPD, RAPD required a significantly longer operative time (401.1 ± 127.5 vs. 230.8 ± 44.5 min, P P P = 0.025). No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of incidence of Clavien–Dindo grade III–V morbidities and 90-day mortality and readmission (P>0.05). In the CUSUM graph, one peak point was observed at the 8th case, after which the operation time began to decrease. LC for RAPD may be less than 30 cases, and RAPD is safe and feasible during the initial LC.

Abstract

Liver malignancies include primary and metastatic tumors. Limited progress has been achieved in improving the survival rate of patients with advanced stage liver cancer and who are unsuitable for surgery. Apart from surgery, chemoradiotherapy, trans-arterial chemoembolization and radiofrequency ablation, a novel therapeutic modality is needed for the clinical treatment of liver cancer. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a novel strategy for treating patients with advanced cancers; it uses a light-triggered cytotoxic photosensitizer and a laser light. PDT provides patients with a potential treatment approach with minimal invasion and low toxicity, that is, the whole course of treatment is painless, harmless, and repeatable. Therefore, PDT has been considered an effective palliative treatment for advanced liver cancers. To date, PDT has been used to treat hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, hepatoblastoma and liver metastases. Clinical outcomes reveal that PDT can be considered a promising treatment modality for all liver cancers to improve the quality and quantity of life of patients. Despite the advances achieved with this approach, several challenges still impede the application of PDT to liver malignancies. In this review, we focus on the recent advancements and discuss the future prospects of PDT in treating liver malignancies.

Abstract

Background The global burden of pancreatic cancer (PCa) continues to grow. Detailed data on PCa epidemiology are essential for policy-making and appropriate healthcare resource allocation. Methods Estimates of incidence, death and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of PCa from 1990 to 2017 were collected from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017. Decomposition analysis was conducted to detect the contributing factors related to PCa incidence variation. The estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) was calculated to quantify the PCa epidemiology trends over a specified interval. Results Globally, the incidence of PCa cases increased by 129.1% to 447 664 664 (95% uncertainty interval (UI) 438 597–456 295), death increased by 125.2% to 441 082 082 (95% UI 448 960–432 833), and DALYs increased by 107.3% to 9 080 004 (95% UI 8 894 128–9 256 346) between 1990 and 2017. Relatively higher sociodemographic index (SDI) regions were observed with greater incidences, more deaths and a greater number of DALYs of PCa, but relatively lower SDI regions experienced a sharply increasing trend in these measures. Decomposition analysis indicated that the global increase in PCa incidence was driven by the aging population from 2007 to 2017, especially in higher SDI regions. In addition, a significant negative correlation was found between EAPC and ASIR (in 1990) (r = −0.56, P Conclusions PCa remains a major public health burden globally. The unfavorable trend in PCa suggesting that further study for prevention should be conducted to forestall the increase in pancreatic cancer.
