The cold neutron beam at the PF1b line at the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), without fast neutrons and a low contribution of gamma rays, is a very suitable facility to measure cell damage following low-energy neutron irradiation. The biological damage associated with the thermal and the boron doses can be obtained in order to evaluate the relative biological effectiveness (RBE) for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy. Three different experiments were carried out on the A375 melanoma cell line: the first one in a hospital LINAC, to obtain the reference radiation data, and the other two at the ILL, in which the damage to cells with and without boron compounds added was measured.

The MEDICIS facility is a unique facility located at CERN dedicated to the production of non-conventional radionuclides for research and development in imaging, diagnostics and radiation therapy. It exploits in a Class A work sector, a dedicated isotope separator beam line, a target irradiation station at the 1.4 GeV Proton Synchroton Booster (PSB) and receives activated targets from external institutes during CERN Long Shut-Downs. The target is heated up at high temperatures to allow for the diffusion and effusion of the atoms out of the target that are subsequently ionized. The ions are accelerated and sent through an off-line mass separator. The radionuclide of interest is extracted through mass separation and implanted into a thin metallic collection foil. After collection, the batch is prepared to be dispatched to a research center. In the near-future, the radiochemistry process will also be performed in MEDICIS. Since its commissioning in December 2017, the facility has provided novel radionuclides such as Tb-149, Tb-155, Tm-165, Er-169 and Yb-175 with high specific activity, some for the first time, to European research institutes part of the collaboration., Proceedings of the 11th International Particle Accelerator Conference, IPAC2020, Caen, France

We present the results of high-resolution laser spectroscopy of the long-lived radioactive isotopes \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$^{143-147}$$\end{document}143-147Pm. The hyperfine structures and isotope shifts in two different atomic ground-state transitions at 452 nm and 468 nm were probed by in-source laser spectroscopy at the RISIKO mass separator in Mainz, using the PI-LIST ion source. From the hyperfine coupling constants the nuclear magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments for \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$^{143-147}$$\end{document}143-147Pm were derived, and the measured isotope shifts allowed the extraction of changes in nuclear mean square charge radii.

- Abstract
A complete-spectroscopy investigation of low-lying, low-spin states in the one-proton-hole and one-neutron-hole nucleus $^{206}$Tl has been performed by using thermal neutron capture and γ-coincidence technique with the FIPPS Ge array at ILL Grenoble. The new experimental results, together with data for the one-proton-particle and one-neutron-particle nucleus $^{210}$Bi (taken from a previous study done at ILL in the EXILL campaign), allowed for an extensive comparison with predictions of shell-model calculations performed with realistic interactions. No phenomenological adjustments were introduced in the calculations. In $^{210}$Bi, state energies, transition multipolarities and decay branchings agree well with theory for the three well separated multiplets of states which dominate the low-lying excitations. On the contrary, in $^{206}$Tl significant discrepancies are observed: in the same energy region, six multiplets were identified, with a significant mixing among them being predicted, as a consequence of the smaller energy separation between the active orbitals. The discrepancies in $^{206}$Tl are attributed to the larger uncertainties in the determination of the off-diagonal matrix elements of the realistic shell-model interaction with respect to the calculated diagonal matrix elements, the only ones playing a major role in the case of $^{210}$Bi. The work points to the need of more advanced approaches in the construction of the realistic interactions.

International audience; The novel technology of calorimetric low-temperature detectors (CLTDs) was applied to determine isotopic yields of fission fragments using the passive absorber method for thermal-neutron-induced fission reactions at the LOHENGRIN mass spectrometer at the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, France. Precise yields were determined for Rb92 and Y96. These fission products are the dominant contributors to the high-energy portion of the reactor antineutrino spectra. Our new measurements resolve inconsistencies between previous yield measurements and fission data libraries and reduce the nuclear data uncertainties in the computation of reactor antineutrino spectra by the summation method.

Selectivity for monovalent metal ions is an important facet of the function of the metalloregulatory protein CueR. 111Ag perturbed angular correlation of γ‐rays (PAC) spectroscopy probes the metal site structure and the relaxation accompanying the instantaneous change from AgI to CdII upon 111Ag radioactive decay. That is, a change from AgI, which activates transcription, to CdII, which does not. In the frozen state (−196 °C) two nuclear quadrupole interactions (NQIs) are observed; one (NQI1) agrees well with two coordinating thiolates and an additional longer contact to the S77 backbone carbonyl, and the other (NQI2) reflects that CdII has attracted additional ligand(s). At 1 °C only NQI2 is observed, demonstrating that relaxation to this structure occurs within ≈10 ns of the decay of 111Ag. Thus, transformation from AgI to CdII rapidly disrupts the functional linear bis(thiolato)AgI metal site structure. This inherent metal site flexibility may be central to CueR function, leading to remodelling into a non‐functional structure upon binding of non‐cognate metal ions. In a broader perspective, 111Ag PAC spectroscopy may be applied to probe the flexibility of protein metal sites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, it was aimed to investigate 149Tb-PSMA-617 for targeted α-therapy (TAT) using a mouse model of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-expressing prostate cancer. 149Tb-PSMA-617 was prepared with >98% radiochemical purity (6 MBq/nmol) for the treatment of mice with PSMA-positive PC-3 PIP tumors. 149Tb-PSMA-617 was applied at 1 × 6 MBq (Day 0) or 2 × 3 MBq (Day 0 & Day 1 or Day 0 & Day 3) and the mice were monitored over time until they had reached a pre-defined endpoint which required euthanasia. The tumor growth was significantly delayed in mice of the treated groups as compared to untreated controls (p < 0.05). TAT was most effective in mice injected with 2 × 3 MBq (Day 0 & 1) resulting in a median lifetime of 36 days, whereas in untreated mice, the median lifetime was only 20 days. Due to the β+-emission of 149Tb, tumor localization was feasible using PET/CT after injection of 149Tb-PSMA-617 (5 MBq). The PET images confirmed the selective accumulation of 149Tb-PSMA-617 in PC-3 PIP tumor xenografts. The unique characteristics of 149Tb for TAT make this radionuclide of particular interest for future clinical translation, thereby, potentially enabling PET-based imaging to monitor the radioligand's tissue distribution. The study of fission yields has a major impact on the characterization and understanding of the fission process and is mandatory for reactor applications. The mass and isotopic yields of the fission fragments have a direct influence on the amount of neutron poisons that limit the fuel burnup and on the evaluation of the residual power of the reactor after shutdown. The fission yields of the plutonium nuclides are also mandatory for the studies on the fuel multi-recycling. In order to significantly improve the precision of nuclear data, more and more fundamental fission models are used in the evaluation processing. Therefore, tests of fission models become a central issue to achieve a coherent libraries of nuclear data. In this framework, an important investigation in the experimental limits of facilities is required to provide complete sets of data with their coherent variance-covariance matrices. In the past with the LOHENGRIN spectrometer of the ILL, priority has been given for the studies in the light fission fragment mass range. The LPSC in collaboration with ILL and CEA has developed a measurement program on symmetric and heavy mass fission fragment distributions. The combination of measurements with ionisation chamber and Ge detectors is necessary to describe precisely the heavy fission fragment region in mass and charge. Recently, new measurements of fission yields and kinetic energy distributions, with different fissioning systems, were performed with this facility. The focus has been done on the selfnormalization of the data to provide new absolute measurements, independently of any libraries, and the experimental covariance matrix. To reach precise measurements, a new experimental procedure was developed along with a new analysis method based on metadata. Because of the complex correction scheme from count rates to yields, a classical propagation uncertainty is not possible. The new analysis path gives the mean value of mass yields, its probability density function and the associated experimental variance-covariance matrices. All this information is a first step to bring nuclear data into statistical tests of the underlying hypothesis of fission models.

NEUTRONS ,SPECTRUM analysis ,NUCLEAR rotational states ,NEUTRON beams ,GAMMA rays - Abstract
The evolution of the deformation across the Y isotopic chain, in the vicinity of N = 60 boundary, has been studied using gamma spectroscopy methods. The nuclei of interest have been produced by neutron induced fission of
235 U and241 Pu targets, during two experimental campaigns named EXILL and FIPPS at the Institute Laue-Langevin in Grenoble. The emitted gamma rays have been collected by HPGe and LaBr3 detectors providing the identification of the high-spin levels in the94 Y and96 Y isotopes up to 6 MeV excitation energy, as well as information about the half-lives of the in-band states in the98 Y nucleus. The obtained results shed new light on the onset of deformation in the neutron-rich Y isotopes and, in general, in the A ≈ 100 region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

The γ-coincidence studies of low-spin structures of
210 Bi and206 Tl are presented. The210 Bi nucleus, populated in thermal neutron capture reaction, was investigated using EXILL HPGe array at Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble. The experimental results were compared to the shell-model calculations allowing to draw the conclusions on the nature of the low-spin excitations populated below the neutron binding energy in210 Bi (4.6 MeV). It has been found that some levels cannot be described by the valence proton and neutron couplings, but may arise from couplings of valence particles to the 3- octupole phonon of the doubly magic208 Pb core. Moreover, preliminary results of a low-spin structure measurements of206 Tl by the γ-coincidence technique, making use of the205 Tl(n,γ)206Tl reaction at the FIPPS prompt γ-ray spectroscopy facility of ILL are shown. The population of a large number of excited states of206 Tl above the ground state up to the neutron binding energy (at 6.5 MeV), within a few units of spin is expected. The analysis involving double and triple γ-coincidences and γγ-angular correlations will allow to significantly extend the experimental information on the energy and spin-parity of the levels in206 Tl. This will help shedding light on the proton-hole and neutron-hole couplings near the doubly magic core208 Pb. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published
