It was known that a novel quantum communication protocol surpassing the shot noise limit can be proposed by an atomic indirect measurement based on the Jaynes-Cummings model. Moreover, the quantum communication with the atomic indirect measurement can nearly achieve the Helstrom bound as well as the accessible information when message is transmitted by an ideal coherent state. Here, we show that the atomic indirect measurement is robust against the phase-diffusion noise. By considering the error probability of discriminating received signal, we show that the atomic indirect measurement can also nearly achieve the Helstrom bound as well as the accessible information even the channel is exposed to the phase-diffused noise. Moreover, we further show that atomic indirect measurement outperforms the feedback-excluded receiver composed of a photon number resolving detector and maximum-a-posteriori decision rule when the standard deviation of the phase-diffusion channel is not too large., Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, some misprints in figure 4 corrected

In this paper, we derive closed-form formulas of first-order approximation for down-and-out barrier and floating strike lookback put option prices under a stochastic volatility model, by using an asymptotic approach. To find the explicit closed-form formulas for the zero-order term and the first-order correction term, we use Mellin transform. We consider the unambiguous discrimination of multipartite quantum states and provide an upper bound for the maximum success probability of optimal local discrimination. We also provide a necessary and sufficient condition to realize the upper bound. We further establish a necessary and sufficient condition for this upper bound to be saturated. The observed star formation rate of the Milky Way can be explained by applying a metallicity-dependent factor to convert CO luminosity to molecular gas mass and a star formation efficiency per free-fall time that depends on the virial parameter of a molecular cloud. These procedures also predict the trend of star formation rate surface density with Galactocentric radius. The efficiency per free-fall time variation with virial parameter plays the major role in bringing theory into agreement with observations for the total star formation rate, while the metallicity dependence of the CO luminosity to mass conversion is most notable in the variation with Galactocentric radius. The main purpose of this paper is to provide threshold functions for the events that a random subset of the points of a finite vector space has certain properties related to point-flat incidences. Specifically, we consider the events that there is an $\ell$-rich $m$-flat with regard to a random set of points in $\mathbb{F}_q^n$, the event that a random set of points is an $m$-blocking set, and the event that there is an incidence between a random set of points and a random set of $m$-flats. The Higgs potential is vital to understand the electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism, and probing the Higgs self-interaction is arguably one of the most important physics targets at current and upcoming collider experiments. In particular, the triple Higgs coupling may be accessible at the HL-LHC by combining results in multiple channels, which motivates to study all possible decay modes for the double Higgs production. In this paper, we revisit the double Higgs production at the HL-LHC in the final state with two $b$-tagged jets, two leptons and missing transverse momentum. We focus on the performance of various neural network architectures with different input features: low-level (four momenta), high-level (kinematic variables) and image-based. Light-field imaging facilitates the miniaturization of 3D cameras while it requires the extension of the depth-of-field (DoF) for practical applications such as endoscopy and intraoral scanning. Here we report a light-field camera (LFC) using solid immersion microlens arrays (siMLAs) for 3D biomedical imaging. The experimental results show that the focal length of MLAs is increased by 2.7 times and the transmittance is enhanced up to 6.9% by immersion in PDMS film. In particular, the f-number of siMLAs exceeds the limit of conventional MLAs fabricated by thermal reflow, resulting in a larger DoF. The LFC based on siMLAs has successfully acquired the depth map of a dental phantom as a hand-held scanner. This LFC suggests a new way for developing a compact in vivo 3D imaging system.

Constraining the Higgs boson properties is a cornerstone of the LHC program and future colliders. In this Snowmass contribution, we study the potential to directly probe the Higgs-top CP-structure via the $t\bar{t}h$ production at the HL-LHC, 100 TeV FCC and muon colliders. We find the limits on the CP phase ($\alpha$) at 95% CL are $|\alpha| \lesssim 36^\circ$ with dileptonic $t\bar t (h\to b\bar b) $ and $|\alpha| \lesssim 25^\circ$ with combined $t\bar t (h\to \gamma\gamma) $ at the HL-LHC. The 100 TeV FCC brings a significant improvement in sensitivity with $|\alpha| \lesssim 3^\circ$ for the dileptonic $t\bar t (h\to b\bar b) $, due to the remarkable gain in the signal cross-section and the increased luminosity. At future muon colliders, we find that the bounds with semileptonic $t\bar t (h\to b\bar b) \nu\bar\nu$ are $|\alpha| \lesssim 9^\circ$ for 10 TeV and $|\alpha| \lesssim 3^\circ$ for 30 TeV, respectively., Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures, contribution to Snowmass 2021

Interfaces between dissimilar correlated oxides can offer devices with versatile functionalities. In that respect, manipulating and measuring novel physical properties of oxide heterointerfaces are highly desired. Yet, despite extensive studies, obtaining direct information on their momentum-resolved electronic structure remains a great challenge. This is because most correlated interfacial phenomena appear within a few atomic layers from the interface, thus limiting the application of available experimental probes. Here, we utilize atomic-scale epitaxy and photoemission spectroscopy to demonstrate the interface control of correlated electronic phases in atomic-scale ruthenate--titanate heterostructures. While bulk SrRuO$_3$ is a ferromagnetic metal, the heterointerfaces exclusively realize three distinct correlated phases in the single-atomic-layer limit. Our theory reveals that atomic-scale structural proximity effects lead to the emergence of Fermi liquid, Hund metal, and Mott insulator phases in the quantum-confined SrRuO$_3$.
