We calculate the power spectrum, spectral index, and running spectral index for the RS-II brane inflation in the high-energy regime using the slow-roll expansion. There exist several modifications. As an example, we take the power-law inflation by choosing an inverse power-law potential. When comparing these with those arisen in the standard inflation, we find that the power spectrum is enhanced and the spectral index is suppressed, while the running spectral index becomes zero as in the standard inflation. However, since second-order corrections are rather small, these could not play a role of distinguishing between standard and brane inflations., Comment: 6 pages

We have studied the anisotropy of the London penetration depth, which was obtained from reversible magnetization measurements with the magnetic field both parallel and perpendicular to the c-axis. The anisotropy of the London penetration depth has a smaller magnitude than the anisotropy of the upper critical field and increases with temperature while that of the upper critical field decreases as reported earlier. This behavior is in sharp contrast with the behaviors of superconductors with one superconducting energy gap. The temperature dependence of the anisotropies of the London penetration depth and of the upper critical field can be well explained within the theory of two-gap superconductivity in MgB2.

We present reversible magnetization measurements on MgB2 single crystals in magnetic fields up to 2.5 T applied parallel to the crystal's c-axis. This magnetization is analyzed in terms of the Hao-Clem model, and various superconducting parameters, such as the critical fields [Hc(0) and Hc2(0)], the characteristic lengths [xi(0) and lambda(0)], and the Ginzburg-Landau parameter, kappa, are derived. The temperature dependence of the magnetic penetration depth, lambda(T), obtained from the Hao-Clem analysis could not be explained by theories assuming a single gap. Low barrier quasiparticle tunneling spectroscopy on Sr$_{0.9}$La$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$ has been studied with PtIr/Sr$_{0.9}$La$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$ point contacts at various temperatures and magnetic fields. No zero-bias conductance peaks are observed. By fitting tunneling conductance to Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk theory, the temperature dependent s-wave superconducting gaps are obtained. The present results exclude the possibility of d-wave symmetry for the pair gap in Sr$_{0.9}$La$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$, and do not support the conventional phonon mediated pairing in this system either., Comment: 6 pages, 9 figures

We report fluctuation magnetoconductance in a MgB2 superconductor prepared under a high pressure of 3 GPa. This excess magnetoconductance, $\Delta\sigma(H)$, follows the three-dimensional scaling function for the critical fluctuations proposed by Ullah and Dorsey. This feature is inferred to originate from the isotropic nature of the MgB2 compound., Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures

The longitudinal resistivity rho_{xx} and Hall coefficient R_H were measured for MgB2 sintered under high pressure. We found that R_H is positive like cuprate high-Tc superconductors, and decreases as the temperature increases for 40 K < T < 300 K. The cotangent of the Hall angle was found to follow a+bT^2 behavior from Tc to 300 K. At T = 100 K, R_H = 4.1 x 10^{-11} m^3/C from which hole carrier density was determined to be 1.5 x 10^{23}/cm^3. This carrier density is 2 - 3 orders of magnitude larger than that of Nb3Sn superconductor and that of optimally doped YBa_2Cu_3O_y., Comment: 4 pages including 3 figures
