Unpaid caregiving by family or friends has increased over the recent years, with a simultaneous decline in the health of caregivers. Yet, limited research has examined the interrelationships between caregiving status, gender, age and health, or how dimensions of caregiving (type of care, relationship with care recipient) complicate these relationships. Using data from 428,395 U.S. adults from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), I find that young adult men and women providing personal care report poorer self-rated health than noncaregivers. Regarding the relationship with care recipient, young adults caring for a spouse/partner report the poorest self-rated health, and particularly women. Overall, caregiving tends to be more adversely associated with health among young adults when the type of care provided is personal or when they have an ill spouse/partner to care for, both of which can be construed as off-timed from the life course perspective. The loss of a child greatly affects the dynamics of interpersonal relationships in bereaved families. This study explored the relationships in bereaved Korean families from the perspectives of mothers after the death of a child due to cancer. We conducted in-depth interviews with 15 bereaved mothers of a deceased child with childhood cancer. Thematic analysis identified 12 subthemes related to bereaved mothers' struggles in grief within three significant themes based on family relationships: (a) relationship with husband; (b) relationship with surviving child or children; and (c) relationships with extended family members. Findings highlight bereaved mothers' need to build supportive family relationships while acknowledging bereaved family members' different grieving styles and their own challenges in grieving the loss of a child. Introduction: The role of inflammation in the pathophysiology of polycythemia vera (PV) is important. The presence of JAK2 mutations is important in the diagnosis of PV, and serum levels of erythropoietin (EPO) also play a supporting role. However, serum EPO levels show some limitations. The neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (PLR) are a readily available marker of inflammation. Thus, we examined whether NLR & PLR might diagnose PV in erythrocytosis patients. We compared NLR & PLR and EPO diagnostic values. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed clinical and laboratory data from two referral hospitals. Two hundred and eighty‐five patients with erythrocytosis who underwent a test for the JAK2 mutation were included. It wac classified as the PV group and the secondary polycythemia (SP) group. Results: The median NLR & PLR in the PV group (n = 70) was significantly higher than that in the SP group (n = 170) (NLR: 6.04 vs. 1.77, PLR: 283.18 vs. 101.56, respectively, p < 0.001). In the receiver operating characteristic analysis, the area under the curve of NLR & PLR was significantly higher than that of serum EPO (NLR vs EPO: 0.921 vs. 0.827, p = 0.003; PLR vs EPO: 0.917 vs 0.827, p = 0.003). Conclusion: In conclusion, NLR & PLR were higher in PV than in SP and showed better diagnostic value than serum EPO level, highlighting their potential as minor diagnostic criteria in patients with PV. Despite advances in precision oncology, cancer remains a global public health issue. In this report, proof‐of‐principle evidence is presented that a cell‐penetrable peptide (ACP52C) dissociates transcription factor CP2c complexes and induces apoptosis in most CP2c oncogene‐addicted cancer cells through transcription activity‐independent mechanisms. CP2cs dissociated from complexes directly interact with and degrade YY1, leading to apoptosis via the MDM2‐p53 pathway. The liberated CP2cs also inhibit TDP2, causing intrinsic genome‐wide DNA strand breaks and subsequent catastrophic DNA damage responses. These two mechanisms are independent of cancer driver mutations but are hindered by high MDM2 p60 expression. However, resistance to ACP52C mediated by MDM2 p60 can be sensitized by CASP2 inhibition. Additionally, derivatives of ACP52C conjugated with fatty acid alone or with a CASP2 inhibiting peptide show improved pharmacokinetics and reduced cancer burden, even in ACP52C‐resistant cancers. Graphene produced by chemical vapor deposition finds applications in a wide range of technologies. However, the transfer of monolayer graphene from the native substrate (commonly Cu foils) to a desired substrate remains challenging. In this study, we report a solvent-free transfer technique for monolayer graphene using a sublimable supporting coating, cyclododecane (CDD). After spin-coating CDD on graphene grown on Cu foil, we rapidly heat the stack at 80 °C to melt and recrystallize the CDD coating. The recrystallized coating top surface becomes composed of larger and interconnected CDD crystals, which form a mechanically strong coating that takes almost 2 h to sublimate completely. Having a bottom surface that closely conforms to graphene's topography, the CDD coating can effectively support graphene during the whole transfer process without compromising its structural integrity, maintaining its superior electrical and optical properties. In this way, CDD becomes capable of transferring monolayer graphene over square centimeter areas. Unlike traditional polymer-based techniques, after transfer, the CDD coating sublimates completely, without the need of any post-transfer cleaning treatment. Our work shows that the CDD coating can be an alternative transfer medium for the efficient and clean transfer of monolayer graphene. Top gate a-InGaZnO (IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) annealed at high temperature show excellent initial current–voltage (I–V) characteristics. However, when they are exposed to positive gate bias for a long time, hump can occur in the subthreshold region. This abnormal hump is accelerated at a higher positive gate voltage and mitigate by a negative gate voltage. While the strength of the hump is irrelevant to a change in channel width, it relies significantly on channel length. This phenomenon might be due to mobile Na ions diffused from a glass substrate migrating toward the back and edge side of the IGZO semiconductor by a vertical gate electric field. When a layer of Al2O3 is formed between the IGZO semiconductor and the glass substrate, the hump phenomenon could be successfully solved by serving as a barrier for Na ions moving into the IGZO. POU4F3, a member of the POU family of transcription factors, commonly causes autosomal dominant deafness. Exome sequencing was used to identify four novel variants in POU4F3 (NM_002700.2), including c.564dupA: p.Ala189SerfsTer26, c.743T > C:p.Leu248Pro, c.879C > A:p.Phe293Leu, and c.952G > A:p.Val318Met, and diverse aspects of the molecular consequences of their protein expression, stability, subcellular localization, and transcriptional activity were investigated. The expression of three mutant proteins, encoded by missense variants, was reduced compared to the wild-type protein, demonstrating that the mutants were unstable and vulnerable to degradation. Additionally, all the mutant proteins had distinct subcellular localization patterns. A mutant protein carrying p.Ala189SerfsTer26, in which both mono- and bi-partite nuclear localization signals were disrupted, showed abnormal subcellular localization. Resultantly, all the mutant proteins significantly reduced the transcriptional activity required to regulate the downstream target gene expression. Furthermore, we identified the altered expression of 14 downstream target genes associated with inner ear development using patient-derived lymphoblastoid cell lines. There was a significant correlation of the expression profile between patient-derived cells and the cochlear hair cells, which provided a breakthrough for cases where the collection of human cochlear samples for transcriptome studies was unfeasible. This work investigates the function of the oxygen partial pressure in photo-induced current measurement of extended defect properties related to the distribution and quantity of defect states in electronic structures. The Fermi level was adjusted by applying a negative gate bias in the TFT structure, and the measurable range of activation energy was extended to < 2.0 eV. Calculations based on density functional theory are used to investigate the changes in defect characteristics and the role of defects at shallow and deep levels as a function of oxygen partial pressure. Device characteristics, such as mobility and threshold voltage shift under a negative gate bias, showed a linear correlation with the ratio of shallow level to deep level defect density. Perilipin (PLIN) is a major structural protein located on the surface of lipid droplets. PLIN plays an important role in human metabolism and is associated with metabolic diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and endocrine disorders. The dysregulation of lipid metabolism is one of the most prominent metabolic changes observed in cancers. Therefore, the PLIN protein family has recently attracted attention owing to its role in lipid metabolism and cancer. To date, no studies have addressed the association between the prognosis of lung cancer and PLIN1 expression. For the first time, we found that high PLIN1 expression was significantly correlated with worse disease-free survival (DFS) in lung squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). We examined PLIN1 expression by the immunohistochemical analysis of surgical lung SCC specimens obtained from 94 patients. We analyzed the correlation between PLIN1 expression, clinicopathological data, and patient survival, using a chi-squared test, Kaplan–Meier analysis with log-rank tests, and the multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression test. High PLIN1 expression was significantly correlated with lower DFS in the Kaplan–Meier analysis and the multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression model. Background: Recent research underscores the clinical relevance of muscle conditions such as sarcopenia and their links to bone mineral density (BMD), yet notable gaps persist in the understanding of their interconnections. Our study addresses this by introducing a novel approach to decipher the correlation between BMD and the texture of the multifidus muscle, utilizing spinal computed tomography (CT) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) to evaluate muscle texture, BMD, and bone mineral content (BMC) at the total lumbar vertebra and total hip. Methods: Our single-institution study examined 395 cases collected from 6 May 2012 to 30 November 2021. Each patient underwent a spinal CT scan and a DXA scan within a one-month interval. BMD and BMC at the total lumbar vertebra and total hip were measured. The texture features of the multifidus muscle from the axial cuts of T12 to S1 vertebrae were assessed via gray-level co-occurrence matrices. CT texture analysis values at angles of 45 + 45 and 90 degrees were calculated and correlated with BMD and BMC. A regression model was then constructed to predict BMD values, and the precision of these correlations was evaluated using mean square error (MSE) analysis. Results: Total lumbar BMC showed a correlation of 0.583–0.721 (MSE 1.568–1.842) and lumbar BMD of 0.632–0.756 (MSE 0.068–0.097). Total hip BMC had a correlation of 0.556–0.690 (MSE 0.448–0.495), while hip BMD ranged from 0.585 to 0.746 (MSE 0.072–0.092). Conclusions: The analysis of spinal CT texture alongside BMD and BMC measures provides a new approach to understanding the relationship between bone and muscle health. The strong correlations expected from our research affirm the importance of integrating bone and muscle measures in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of conditions such as sarcopenia and osteoporosis. Simple Summary: To facilitate performing a lymphadenectomy during a reduced-port robotic distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer, we developed Vessel Sealer Extend® (Intuitive Surgical, Sunnyvale, CA, USA), a bipolar vessel-sealing device with an articulating jaw. Using the Vessel Sealer Extend® (Intuitive Surgical), we performed trans-umbilical lymphadenectomy using an articulating bipolar vessel-sealing device and found that reduced-port robotic distal gastrectomy with trans-umbilical lymphadenectomy using an articulating bipolar vessel-sealing device had similar outcomes to conventional laparoscopic distal gastrectomy in terms of the incidence of postoperative morbidity and the number of harvested lymph nodes. In addition, because reduced-port robotic distal gastrectomy is associated with fewer incisions, intra-abdominal adhesions can be minimized. Background: Docking the scope and instruments through a multi-channel trocar has enabled reduced-port robotic distal gastrectomy (RRDG) for gastric cancer. To facilitate lymphadenectomy over the anatomical hindrances during RRDG, we recently introduced the Vessel Sealer Extend® (VSE) (Intuitive Surgical, Sunnyvale, CA, USA), a bipolar vessel-sealing device (BVSD) with an articulating jaw. Methods: From May 2020 to August 2023, we performed RRDG to treat T1 gastric cancer. One endoscope arm and three instrument arms of the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System (Intuitive Surgical) were used. During the lymphadenectomy, the endoscope and VSE (Intuitive Surgical) were docked through a multi-channel trocar established on a trans-umbilical incision. Two Cardiere forceps were docked through cannulas established on each flank. A trans-umbilical lymphadenectomy using an articulating BVSD (TULAB) was then performed. Results: A total of 42 patients underwent planned RRDG with the TULAB technique. The number of retrieved lymph nodes did not differ between the patients who underwent RRDG and those who underwent conventional laparoscopic distal gastrectomies (CLDG) (p = 0.362). There was no statistically significant difference in postoperative complications between the RRDG and CLDG group (p = 0.189). The mean time to first semi-fluid diet was shorter in the patients who underwent RRDG than CLDG (p = 0.030), and the incidence of postoperative ileus was lower in the RRDG group than the CLDG group (0% and 9.9%, respectively, p = 0.034). Conclusions: Despite use of fewer ports, RRDG with TULAB had similar outcomes to CLDG in terms of the incidence of postoperative morbidity and the number of harvested lymph nodes. Recent studies have highlighted the positive effects of Kaempferol (KP), including its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. However, its impact on oxidative damage induced by heavy metals and pro-inflammatory mediators, such as arachidonic acid (AA), has not yet been identified. Our objective was to specifically evaluate liver damage due to AA + iron-induced oxidative stress, both in vitro and in vivo. In HepG2 cells, KP activated the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), suggesting a hepatoprotective effect through AMPK inhibition, as assessed by immunoblot and FACS analysis (EC 50 = 10 μM). KP also stimulated autophagy, a degradation process that eliminates aged, damaged, and unnecessary components, via mTOR inhibition and ULK1 phosphorylation. This activation was further validated by the upregulation of autophagy-related genes (ATG5) and Beclin-1, along with the conversion of LC3BI to LC3BII. Ferroptosis, a non-apoptotic type of cell death characterized by oxidative stress from the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and excessive iron accumulation, was linked to the activation of autophagy, as confirmed through the protein expression of deferoxamine (DFO) and ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1), the representative ferroptosis inhibitors (positive controls). In mice, oral administration of KP demonstrated protective effects against CCl 4 -induced hepatotoxicity. In conclusion, KP provides hepatoprotective effects against oxidative stress induced by AA + iron treatment in vitro and CCl 4 treatment in vivo. Activities in the digital economy driven by information technology have rapidly increased in scope and speed in the aftermath of COVID-19. Meanwhile, social isolation accelerated by quarantine measures has increased concerns about individuals' mental health. However, little is known about the specific consequences of online interactions, especially when applied in online fan community-based relationships. Therefore, we examined the impact of loneliness in the context of COVID-19 on online interaction with other fans and parasocial relationships with celebrities on the Weverse platform. We also examined how these interactions influence mental well-being and the sense of virtual community. With 202 valid data samples acquired from global BTS fandom, this study conducted a partial least squares–structural equation modeling analysis. The empirical results demonstrate a significant positive relationship between loneliness and the extent of online interaction, while no significant impact on parasocial relationships was observed. Both online interaction and parasocial relationships were found to enhance both well-being and SOVC. However, these results were observed to differ between Weverse paid subscribers and free users. Human endogenous retrovirus (HERV)-K was reportedly inserted into the human genome millions of years ago and is closely related to various diseases, including cancer and immune regulation. In our previous studies, CRISPR-Cas9-enabled knockout (KO) of the HERV-K env gene was found to potentially reduce cell proliferation, cell migration, and invasion in colorectal and ovarian cancer cell lines. The immune response involves the migration and invasion of cells and is similar to cancer; however, in certain ways, it is completely unlike cancer. Therefore, we induced HERV-K119 env gene KO in THP-1, a monocytic cell that can be differentiated into a macrophage, to investigate the role of HERV-K119 env in immune regulation. Cell migration and invasion were noted to be significantly increased in HERV-K119 env KO THP-1 cells than in MOCK, and these results were contrary to those of cancer cells. To identify the underlying mechanism of HERV-K119 env KO in THP-1 cells, transcriptome analysis and cytokine array analysis were conducted. Semaphorin7A (SEMA7A), which induces the production of cytokines in macrophages and monocytic cells and plays an important role in immune effector cell activation during an inflammatory immune response, was significantly increased in HERV-K119 env KO THP-1 cells. We also found that HERV-K119 env KO THP-1 cells expressed various macrophage-specific surface markers, suggesting that KO of HERV-K119 env triggers the differentiation of THP-1 cells from monocytic cells into macrophages. In addition, analysis of the expression of M1 and M2 macrophage markers showed that M1 macrophage marker cluster of differentiation 32 (CD32) was significantly increased in HERV-K119 env KO cells. For the 3D NAND memory, the higher oxide/nitride (ON) stacked dielectric is preferred to enhance the storage capacity, and multi-layer dielectric requirements, such as thickness uniformity and interfacial smoothness between films, gathers more interest for the performance of 3D NAND flash memory. Unsatisfactory thickness uniformity between layers is a challenge not only for the device performance but also the following etch process steps. The thickness uniformity can get worse with a little facility degradation. The degradation of the vacuum system, such as the throttle valve position, has the potential to cause process drift. This can have an impact on the thickness repeatability of each layer in a multiple dielectric stack. To reduce the process variation in multi-layer dielectric deposition for 3D NAND fabrication, process monitoring, and equipment diagnostic study is suggested in this paper. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) is employed for plasma process monitoring and equipment state variable identification (SVID) data are investigated to find the source of the process variation. From the comparison experiments of 5 and 30 paired oxide/nitride stack deposition, we found equipment and/or facility degradation may induce the minute process drift. The interface between dielectric and organic semiconductor is critically important in determining organic thin‐film transistor (OTFT) performance. Surface polarity of the dielectric layer can hinder charge transport characteristics, which has restricted utilization of polymeric dielectric materials containing polar functional groups. Herein, the electrical characteristics of OTFTs are analyzed depending on the alkyl chain length of organic semiconductors and surface polarity of polymer dielectrics. High‐performance dibenzothiopheno[6,5‑b:6′,5′‑f]thieno[3,2‑b]thiophene (DBTTT) and newly synthesized its alkylated derivatives (C6‐DBTTT and C10‐DBTTT) are utilized as organic semiconductors. As dielectric layers, non‐polar poly(1,3,5‐trimethyl‐1,3,5‐trivinylcyclitrisiloxane) (pV3D3) and poly(2‐cyanoethyl acrylate‐co‐diethylene glycol divinyl ether) [p(CEA‐co‐DEGDVE)] with polar cyanide functionality are utilized. The fabricated OTFTs with pV3D3 commonly exhibit the excellent charge transport characteristics. In addition, the OTFT performance is improved with lengthening the alkyl chain in organic semiconductors, which can be attributed to the molecular orientation of semiconductors. On the other hand, non‐alkylated DBTTT OTFTs with polar p(CEA‐co‐DEGDVE) show relatively poor electrical characteristics, while their performance is drastically enhanced with the alkylated DBTTTs. The ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) reveals that surface polarity of the dielectric layer can be abated with alkyl chain in organic semiconductors. An extensive literature has explored the influence of the OECD on school education policies globally, while their influence on higher education policies has been underexamined. This article addresses that void by analysing the internationalisation of higher education in Israel and South Korea. We suggest that joining the OECD provided political legitimacy for both countries and that the OECD comparative metrics and guidelines were crucial in generating anxieties about their underperformance in the global market for international students. These metrics served as benchmarks for internationalisation policies and shaped the foci, aims and definitions of success (i.e. parity with OECD averages). The desire to compete spurred cross-national policy referencing and borrowing, initially with little adaptation resulting in a form of 'prefabricated internationalisation'. Over time, the (im)balance between global aspiration and local realities resulted in localisation. There has been a growing tendency to use humanistic and utopian goals in the naming and framing of education policies. The case of the Happiness Education Policy (HEP) in South Korea is illustrative and demonstrates the potential of such framing, combined with references to external authorities, to neutralise domestic opposition and generate support from diverse national stakeholders. The HEP focuses on nurturing 'happy human capital' for the future through education initiatives such as the Free Semester/Year Initiative, character education, STEAM-based curriculum, and software education. Through an analysis of a corpus of policy documents and press releases, this article demonstrates how happiness, as a floating signifier, has been redefined in ways that align and support the different sociotechnical imaginaries envisioned by political regimes over the past decade which depart from its humanistic focus. Hail has long caused extensive damage and economic loss in places inhabited by humans. Climate change is expected to lead to different types of damage due to the geographic characteristics of each continent. Under changing environment, hail is becoming increasingly unstable and is causing damage that is difficult to repair, making it essential to study the occurrence of hail and hail-damage. Hail formation has been studied at the micro- and macrophysical scales as well as thermal and dynamical scales. Hail forms in various sizes, and the scale of damage varies with size. Hail precipitation occurs suddenly and is localized, making it is difficult to observe and predict. Nonetheless, techniques to measure and forecast hail precipitation are improving in accuracy. Hail-damage management and financial compensation systems are used to mitigate the severe economic losses caused by hail fallen in rural and urban areas. This review most comprehensively considers hail research, focusing on the mechanisms, observation and prediction methods, damage, social compensation systems for hail damage, and hail-disaster prevention, suggesting future study directions briefly. The lateral cephalogram in orthodontics is a valuable screening tool on undetected obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which can lead to consequences of severe systematic disease. We hypothesized that a deep learning-based classifier might be able to differentiate OSA as anatomical features in lateral cephalogram. Moreover, since the imaging devices used by each hospital could be different, there is a need to overcome modality difference of radiography. Therefore, we proposed a deep learning model with knowledge distillation to classify patients into OSA and non-OSA groups using the lateral cephalogram and to overcome modality differences simultaneously. Lateral cephalograms of 500 OSA patients and 498 non-OSA patients from two different devices were included. ResNet-50 and ResNet-50 with a feature-based knowledge distillation models were trained and their performances of classification were compared. Through the knowledge distillation, area under receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and gradient-weighted class activation mapping of knowledge distillation model exhibits high performance without being deceived by features caused by modality differences. Liquid metals, particularly non‐toxic gallium‐based alloys, have emerged as promising materials for future soft electronics due to their unique properties, including fluidity, excellent electrical and thermal conductivities, and surface reactivity. They demonstrate adaptability, responsivity, and self‐healing abilities, offering a platform for innovative electronic devices. Embodied in a droplet form factor, gallium‐based liquid metal droplets (LMDs) combine the traits of liquid metals with the advantages of miniaturized structures, including high surface tension, high surface area, high mobility, and surface functionalization. This review discusses the inherent properties of LMDs, which have driven substantial research interest across various fields, such as sensors, robotics, electronic circuits, energy harvesters, drug delivery, and microfluidics systems, among others. Effective fabrication and processing techniques are detailed for LMDs, illustrating their role in applications previously challenging with conventional materials, such as reconfigurable, self‐healing, and transient electronics. Existing challenges and future directions in this growing field are discussed. This extensive review seeks to further the understanding of LMDs and their potential, offering a roadmap for their journey from a niche interest to a key material in various electronic devices. As corporate social responsibility (CSR) has progressively ascended to prominence among academics and industry professionals, numerous studies have embarked on examining its impact on employees' perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors. Notwithstanding, the current body of research has predominantly overlooked the influence of CSR on employees' mental health, encompassing depression, anxiety, and burnout. In order to acknowledge the critical role of employee mental health within an organization, our exploration is focused on discerning the effect of CSR on depressive states. Furthermore, our paper undertakes a thorough analysis of the link between CSR and depression, probing its underlying processes and potential contingent factors. We posit that CSR can alleviate the incidence of employee depression by amplifying the sense of meaningfulness that work provides. Moreover, the element of prosocial motivation among employees may act as a positive moderating variable that intensifies the beneficial effect of CSR on the sense of meaningfulness derived from work. By relying on data obtained through a tripartite online survey involving 214 South Korean workers, this paper scrutinized the proposed hypotheses via the application of moderated mediation analysis with structural equation modeling. Background: This study aimed to predict pathologic complete response (pCR) in neoadjuvant chemotherapy for ER+HER2- locally advanced breast cancer (LABC), a subtype with limited treatment response. Methods: We included 265 ER+HER2- LABC patients (2010–2020) with pre-treatment MRI, neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and confirmed pathology. Using data from January 2016, we divided them into training and validation cohorts. Volumes of interest (VOI) for the tumoral and peritumoral regions were segmented on preoperative MRI from three sequences: T1-weighted early and delayed contrast-enhanced sequences and T2-weighted fat-suppressed sequence (T2FS). We constructed seven machine learning models using tumoral, peritumoral, and combined texture features within and across the sequences, and evaluated their pCR prediction performance using AUC values. Results: The best single sequence model was SVM using a 1 mm tumor-to-peritumor VOI in the early contrast-enhanced phase (AUC = 0.9447). Among the combinations, the top-performing model was K-Nearest Neighbor, using 1 mm tumor-to-peritumor VOI in the early contrast-enhanced phase and 3 mm peritumoral VOI in T2FS (AUC = 0.9631). Conclusions: We suggest that a combined machine learning model that integrates tumoral and peritumoral radiomic features across different MRI sequences can provide a more accurate pretreatment pCR prediction for neoadjuvant chemotherapy in ER+HER2- LABC. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a subfield of computer science that aims to implement computer systems that perform tasks that generally require human learning, reasoning, and perceptual abilities. AI is widely used in the medical field. The interpretation of medical images requires considerable effort, time, and skill. AI-aided interpretations, such as automated abnormal lesion detection and image classification, are promising areas of AI. However, when images with different characteristics are extracted, depending on the manufacturer and imaging environment, a so-called domain shift problem occurs in which the developed AI has a poor versatility. Domain adaptation is used to address this problem. Domain adaptation is a tool that generates a newly converted image which is suitable for other domains. It has also shown promise in reducing the differences in appearance among the images collected from different devices. Domain adaptation is expected to improve the reading accuracy of AI for heterogeneous image distributions in gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and medical image analyses. In this paper, we review the history and basic characteristics of domain shift and domain adaptation. Cerebellar nodulus and uvula and their connections with the vestibular nuclei form the so‐called velocity‐storage circuit. Lesions involving the velocity‐storage circuit give rise to positional vertigo and nystagmus. Herein, we present a 32‐year‐old man with cerebellar nodulus and uvular hemorrhage who showed periodic vertigo and downbeat nystagmus in the supine position. To explain this unusual pattern, we adopted velocity‐storage model with a lesion on the neural connection between the gravity and inertia estimators, resulting in periodic neural impulses and a gravity bias in a specific position. The white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is the causative agent of white spot disease, which kills shrimp within a few days of infection. Although WSSV has a mortality rate of almost 100% and poses a serious threat to the shrimp farming industry, strategies for its prevention and treatment are extremely limited. In this study, we examined the efficacy of VP28, a recombinant WSSV protein expressed in Chlorella vulgaris (C. vulgaris), as an oral shrimp vaccine. When compared with the control group, in which WSSV had a cumulative mortality of 100%, shrimp treated with 5% VP28-expressing C. vulgaris in their feed only had a 20% cumulative mortality rate 12 days after the WSSV challenge. When compared with the nonvaccinated group, the transcription of anti-lipopolysaccharide factor, C-type lectin, and prophenoloxidase genes, which are involved in shrimp defense against WSSV infection, was upregulated 29.6 fold, 15.4 fold, and 11.5 fold, respectively. In this study utilizing data from the large Danish COPSAC SB 2010 sb cohort, we found that high levels of 25(OH)D in early but not late childhood were associated with a reduced risk of AD, allergy, asthma exacerbations and infections during preschool-age with sex-specific associations. Simple Summary: Elderly patients have a higher risk of developing pneumonia due to a decrease in the swallowing function and the effectiveness of coughing. Sarcopenia is an age-related decrease in muscle mass and strength. We investigated the association between sarcopenia and incidence of pneumonia after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in patients aged ≥65 years. Patients with (n = 1571) and without sarcopenia (n = 1718) who underwent ESD for gastric neoplasm were included. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed between the groups at a 1:1 ratio. The primary endpoint was the effect of sarcopenia on the incidence of pneumonia after ESD. Patients with sarcopenia had an increased risk of developing pneumonia after ESD, even after adjusting for other factors, resulting in a higher incidence of leukocytosis and a longer duration of post-ESD hospitalization. The analgesia nociception index (ANI) has emerged as a potential measurement for objective pain assessment during general anesthesia. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of ANI in assessing intra- and post-operative pain in patients undergoing general anesthesia. We conducted a comprehensive search of Ovid-MEDLINE, Ovid-EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Google Scholar, public clinical trial databases (ClinicalTrials and Clinical Research Information Service), and OpenSIGLE to identify relevant studies published prior to May 2023 and included studies that evaluated the accuracy and effectiveness of ANI for intra- or post-operative pain assessment during general anesthesia. Among the 962 studies identified, 30 met the eligibility criteria and were included in the systematic review, and 17 were included in the meta-analysis. For predicting intra-operative pain, pooled sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and area under curve of ANI were 0.81 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.79–0.83; I2 = 68.2%), 0.93 (95% CI = 0.92–0.93; I2 = 99.8%), 2.32 (95% CI = 1.33–3.30; I2 = 61.7%), and 0.77 (95% CI = 0.76–0.78; I2 = 87.4%), respectively. ANI values and changes in intra-operative hemodynamic variables showed statistically significant correlations. For predicting post-operative pain, pooled sensitivity, specificity, and DOR of ANI were 0.90 (95% CI = 0.87–0.93; I2 = 58.7%), 0.51 (95% CI = 0.49–0.52; I2 = 99.9%), and 3.38 (95% CI = 2.87–3.88; I2 = 81.2%), respectively. ANI monitoring in patients undergoing surgery under general anesthesia is a valuable measurement for predicting intra- and post-operative pain. Although TrkB may be associated with the pathogenesis of various cancer by upregulation, how upregulation of TrkB led to tumor progression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the signaling mechanisms by which TrkB induces motility, invasion, metastasis, drug resistance, and acquisition of self-renewal traits has remained unclear. Here, we demonstrated that TrkB was significantly upregulated in highly metastatic HCC cells and HCC patients. Also, the increased TrkB levels were significantly correlated with tumor stages and poor survival of HCC patients. Furthermore, the upregulated TrkB expression enhances the metastatic ability of HCC cells through reduced anoikis sensitivity, induced migration, and colony formation. Most strikingly, TrkB markedly enhances the activation of STAT3 by preventing DJ-1 degradation through the formation of the TrkB/DJ-1 complex. This signaling mechanism is responsible for triggering cellular traits of highly aggressive HCC. The activation of the EMT program of HCC via increasing DJ-1 stability by TrkB induces the gain of cancer stem cell states and chemoresistance via the upregulation of stem cells cell markers and ABC transporters. Also, TrkB-mediated inhibition of DJ-1 degradation promotes tumor formation and metastasizes to other organs in vivo. Backgrounds: The expression of major histocompatibility complex I (MHC-I) in neurons has recently been shown to regulate neurite outgrowth and synaptic plasticity. However, its contribution to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains largely unknown. Methods: In this study, we investigated the relationship between impaired MHC-I-β2M complex and AD in vitro and human AD samples. Interaction between protein was identified by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and confirmed by immunoprecipitation. Single-chain trimer of MHC-I-β2M was generated to study the effect of stabilization of MHC-I-β2M complex on NCAM1 signaling. Results: MHC-I is destabilized in the brains of AD patients and neuronal cells treated with oligomeric β-amyloid (Aβ). Specifically, Aβ oligomers disassemble the MHC-I-β2-microglobulin (β2M) complex, leading to reduced interactions with neural cell adhesion molecule 1 (NCAM1), a novel interactor of neuronal MHC-I, and decreased signaling. Inhibition of MHC-I-β2M complex destabilization by non-dissociable MHC-I-β2M-peptide complex restored MHC-I-NCAM1 signaling in neuronal cells. Conclusions: The current study demonstrated that disruption of MHC-1-NCAM1 signaling by Aβ induced disassembly of MHC-I-β2M complex is involved in the pathophysiology of AD. Bone marrow-derived human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) can differentiate into various lineages, such as chondrocytes, adipocytes, osteoblasts, and neuronal lineages. It has been shown that the high-efficiency DNA-repair capacity of hMSCs is decreased during their differentiation. However, the underlying its mechanism during adipogenesis and osteogenesis is unknown. Herein, we investigated how alkyl-damage repair is modulated during adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation, especially focusing on the base excision repair (BER) pathway. Response to an alkylation agent was assessed via quantification of the double-strand break (DSB) foci and activities of BER-related enzymes during differentiation in hMSCs. Adipocytes showed high resistance against methyl methanesulfonate (MMS)-induced alkyl damage, whereas osteoblasts were more sensitive than hMSCs. During the differentiation, activities, and protein levels of uracil-DNA glycosylase were found to be regulated. In addition, ligation-related proteins, such as X-ray repair cross-complementing protein 1 (XRCC1) and DNA polymerase β, were upregulated in adipocytes, whereas their levels and recruitment declined during osteogenesis. These modulations of BER enzyme activity during differentiation influenced DNA repair efficiency and the accumulation of DSBs as repair intermediates in the nucleus. Taken together, we suggest that BER enzymatic activity is regulated in adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation and these alterations in the BER pathway led to different responses to alkyl damage from those in hMSCs. The prediction of corticosteroid responses in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients is crucial in clinical practice, and exploring the role of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted analysis of chest radiographs (CXR) is warranted. This retrospective case–control study involving mild-to-moderate COVID-19 patients treated with corticosteroids was conducted from 4 September 2021, to 30 August 2022. The primary endpoint of the study was corticosteroid responsiveness, defined as the advancement of two or more of the eight-categories-ordinal scale. Serial abnormality scores for consolidation and pleural effusion on CXR were obtained using a commercial AI-based software based on days from the onset of symptoms. Amongst the 258 participants included in the analysis, 147 (57%) were male. Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that high pleural effusion score at 6–9 days from onset of symptoms (adjusted odds ratio of (aOR): 1.022, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.003–1.042, p = 0.020) and consolidation scores up to 9 days from onset of symptoms (0–2 days: aOR: 1.025, 95% CI: 1.006–1.045, p = 0.010; 3–5 days: aOR: 1.03 95% CI: 1.011–1.051, p = 0.002; 6–9 days: aOR; 1.052, 95% CI: 1.015–1.089, p = 0.005) were associated with an unfavorable corticosteroid response. Here,nonprecious high‐entropy chalcogenide glasses (N‐HECGs) consisting of Co, Fe, Ni, Mo, W, and Te are demonstrated in a first demonstration of acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). N‐HECGs electrocatalysts with high activity and stability are synthesized using a hierarchical hybrid approach based on a combination of electrochemical deposition and tellurization process. The as‐prepared CoFeNiMoWTe N‐HECGs electrocatalysts exhibit an amorphous, porous structure of arrayed nanosheets with abundant active sites and the increased valence states of metal cations due to the incorporated non‐metallic Te, enabling the enhancement of glass forming ability and the valence states of metal elements. Thanks to the combination of their unique geometrical and chemical structure, as well as high configuration entropy nature and high corrosion‐resistance ability, the resultant CoFeNiMoWTe N‐HECGs exhibit excellent acidic OER catalytic performance with a superior overpotential of 373 mV and outstanding stability of 100 h at the current density of 10 mA cm−2 in 0.5 m H2SO4. Moreover, the CoFeNiMoWTe‐based proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer is demonstrated to require a cell voltage of 1.81 V at 70 °C to obtain the practically high current density of 1 A cm−2, and exhibits remarkably long‐term stability for 100 h with small potential degradation of only 30 mV. Objective: This study aimed to develop a novel method for opportunistically screening osteoporosis by measuring bone mineral density (BMD) from CT images. We addressed the limitations of commercially available software and introduced texture analysis using Hounsfield units (HU) as an alternative approach. Methods: A total of 458 samples (296 patients) were selected from a dataset of 1320 cases (782 patients) between 1 March 2013, and 30 August 2022. BMD measurements were obtained from the ilium, femoral neck, intertrochanteric region of both femurs, and L1–L5 and sacrum spine body. The region of interest (ROI) for each patient's CT scan was defined as the maximum trabecular area of the spine body, ilium, femoral neck, and femur intertrochanter. Using gray-level co-occurrence matrices, we extracted 45 texture features from each ROI. Linear regression analysis was employed to predict BMD, and the top five influential texture features were identified. Results: The linear regression (LR) model yielded correlation coefficients (R-squared values) for total lumbar BMD, total lumbar BMC, total femur BMD, total femur BMC, femur neck BMD, femur neck BMC, femur intertrochanter BMD, and femur intertrochanter BMC as follows: 0.643, 0.667, 0.63, 0.635, 0.631, 0.636, 0.68, and 0.68, respectively. Among the 45 texture features considered, the top five influential factors for BMD prediction were Entropy, autocorrelate_32, autocorrelate_32_volume, autocorrelate_64, and autocorrelate_64_volume. Background: Despite obtaining a good prognosis and long life expectancy, survivors of thyroid cancer can nevertheless develop subsequent primary cancer (SPC). We investigated the risk and types of SPC in patients with thyroid cancer and compared them with subjects without thyroid cancer history (controls). Methods: We conducted a nationwide, population-based, retrospective cohort study based on the Korean National Health Insurance Database. A total of 432,654 patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer between 2004 and 2019 were 1:1 matched with controls for age, sex, income, and region of residence. The hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) of SPC were estimated using Cox proportional hazard models. Results: In total, 78,584 (18.2%) patients with thyroid cancer and 49,979 (11.6%) controls were diagnosed with SPCs over a mean follow-up of 6.9 years. Patients with thyroid cancer had a higher risk of SPC at any site (adjusted HR, 1.62; 95% CI, 1.60–1.64) than the controls. The risk of SPCs was particularly high for patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer at a younger age (<40 years) and within 5 years. Conclusions: Medical caregivers should consider the long-term follow-up of patients with thyroid cancer and discuss the risk of SPC, especially if they complain of cancer-related symptoms. Recently, several arbitrary-scale models have been proposed for single-image super-resolution. Furthermore, the importance of arbitrary-scale single image super-resolution is emphasized for applications such as satellite image processing, HR display, and video-based surveillance. However, the baseline integer-scale model must be retrained to fit the existing network, and the learning speed is slow. This paper proposes a network to solve these problems, processing super-resolution by restoring the high-frequency information lost in the remaining arbitrary-scale while maintaining the baseline integer scale. The proposed network extends an integer-scaled image to an arbitrary-scale target in the discrete cosine transform spectral domain. We also modulate the high-frequency restoration weights of the depthwise multi-head attention to use memory efficiently. Finally, we demonstrate the performance through experiments with existing state-of-the-art models and their flexibility through integration with existing integer-scale models in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and similarity index measure (SSIM) scores. A unified shape and non-shape design optimization for lattice structures is performed to obtain extremal band gaps in an isogeometric computational framework, which uses the same NURBS basis functions as used in CAD description. Using a precise numerical model in both response and shape sensitivity analyses, enhanced response and sensitivity can be obtained, which leads to a precise optimal design. A plane wave propagation in infinite periodic lattice is analyzed within a representative unit cell using the Bloch theory with periodic boundary conditions. The ligaments of lattice structures are modeled using geometrically exact beams whose cross-sectional area and configuration are regarded as design variables, which are parameterized by the NURBS basis functions. The design variables are controlled by a mathematical programming algorithm with efficient adjoint design sensitivity. The obtained optimal lattice structures of triangular, squared, hexagonal, and Kagomé structures are fabricated using a 3D printing machine to be validated by physical experiments. Through harmonic response analysis and physical experiment for the optimal and the original designs, the wave attenuation properties are compared to demonstrate the validity of the obtained optimal design. Background Low-pass whole-genome sequencing (LP-WGS)–based circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis is a versatile tool for somatic copy number aberration (CNA) detection, and this study aims to explore its clinical implication in breast cancer. Methods We analyzed LP-WGS ctDNA data from 207 metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients to explore prognostic value of ctDNA CNA burden and validated it in 465 stage II-III triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy in phase III PEARLY trial (NCT02441933). The clinical implication of locus level LP-WGS ctDNA profiling was further evaluated. Results We found that a high baseline ctDNA CNA burden predicts poor overall survival and progression-free survival of MBC patients. The post hoc analysis of the PEARLY trial showed that a high baseline ctDNA CNA burden predicted poor disease-free survival independent from pathologic complete response (pCR), validating its robust prognostic significance. The 24-month disease-free survival rate was 96.9% and 55.9% in [pCR(+) and low I-score] and [non-pCR and high I-score] patients, respectively. The locus-level ctDNA CNA profile classified MBC patients into 5 molecular clusters and revealed targetable oncogenic CNAs. LP-WGS ctDNA and in vitro analysis identified the BCL6 amplification as a resistance factor for CDK4/6 inhibitors. We estimated ctDNA-based homologous recombination deficiency status of patients by shallowHRD algorithm, which was highest in the TNBC and correlated with platinum-based chemotherapy response. Conclusions These results demonstrate LP-WGS ctDNA CNA analysis as an essential tool for prognosis prediction and molecular profiling. Methods: We analyzed a total of 510 cases (145 T2D patients and 365 normal patients) from a single institution. DXA-derived BMD and CT texture analysis-estimated BMD were compared for each participant. Additionally, we investigated the correlation among 45 different texture features within each group. Results: The correlation between CT texture analysis-estimated BMD and DXA-derived BMD in T2D patients was consistently high (0.94 or above), whether measured at L1 BMD, L1 BMC, total hip BMD, or total hip BMC. In contrast, the normative cohort showed a modest correlation, ranging from 0.66 to 0.75. Among the 45 texture features, significant differences were found in the Contrast V 64 and Contrast V 128 features in the normal group. Conclusion: In essence, our study emphasizes that the clinical assessment of bone health, particularly in T2D patients, should not merely rely on traditional measures, such as DXA BMD. Rather, it may be beneficial to incorporate other diagnostic tools, such as CT texture analysis, to better comprehend the complex interplay between various factors impacting bone health. Objective basis for clinical application.Methods: Female patients with rosacea who were regularly followed up for more than 6 months at the rosacea follow-up clinic of the Department of Dermatology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, from March 2022 to June 2023, with erythema and capillary dilation as the main clinical phenotype, met the rosacea diagnostic criteria of the American Rosacea Expert Committee 2017 edition, and received medications recommended by the Chinese Rosacea Treatment Guidelines (2021 edition). A total of 125 patients were treated with combined photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), and the patients were divided into a standardized group (CEA< 1, IGA< 1) and a non-standardized group (CEA≥ 1, IGA≥ 1) based on significant rosacea efficacy (CEA< 1, IGA< 1) within 6 months. The age, gender, education level, duration of rosacea, treatment regimen, education intensity, CEA, and IGA baseline data were compared between the two groups, and logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the factors influencing the significant efficacy of rosacea.Results: There was a significant difference in the mean length of education between the two groups (P< 0.05), and the differences between the rest of the baseline information of the two groups were not statistically significant (P> 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that the variable that significantly influenced the efficacy of treatment was the mean length of education (≥ 130.5 min/month), and the intensity of education was significantly associated with the efficacy of treatment.Conclusion: Self-management support in the new media chronic disease management model has a positive impact on the treatment of rosacea patients. Wood is the most important renewable resource not only for numerous practical utilizations but also for mitigating the global climate crisis by sequestering atmospheric carbon dioxide. The compressed wood (CW) of gymnosperms, such as conifers, plays a pivotal role in determining the structure of the tree through the reorientation of stems displaced by environmental forces and is characterized by a high content of lignin. Despite extensive studies on many genes involved in wood formation, the molecular mechanisms underlying seasonal and, particularly, CW formation remain unclear. This study examined the seasonal dynamics of two wood tissue types in Pinus densiflora: CW and opposite wood (OW). RNA sequencing of developing xylem for two consecutive years revealed comprehensive transcriptome changes and unique differences in CW and OW across seasons. During growth periods, such as spring and summer, we identified 2255 transcripts with differential expression in CW, with an upregulation in lignin biosynthesis genes and significant downregulation in stress response genes. Notably, among the laccases critical for monolignol polymerization, PdeLAC17 was found to be specifically expressed in CW, suggesting its vital role in CW formation. PdeERF4, an ERF transcription factor preferentially expressed in CW, seems to regulate PdeLAC17 activity. This research provides an initial insight into the transcriptional regulation of seasonal CW development in P. densiflora, forming a foundation for future studies to enhance our comprehension of wood formation in gymnosperms. Owing to their unique optical and chemical properties, gold nanorods (AuNRs) are among the most frequently used nanomaterials for biomedical applications, including cancer therapy, imaging, and drug delivery. In particular, the longitudinal dipole plasmon wavelength of AuNRs can be verified from the visible to the near‐infrared (NIR) region, allowing AuNRs to be used as photodynamic/photothermal and imaging contrast agents. At the same time, the silica shell is important as it enhances stability and facilitates the functionalization and biocompatibility of AuNRs, offering numerous advantages in biomedical applications. In this review, silica‐coated AuNRs from a bioapplication perspective are focused. First, the importance of AuNRs for biomedical applications is explained and the purpose of silica coating on AuNRs is discussed. Then, recent studies on the development of silica‐coated AuNRs from a biomedical perspective are reviewed. Subsequently, various strategies for engineering silica coatings and their properties in the biomedical field are reviewed. As global temperatures have steadily increased over past decades, studying of the impacts of heat stress on morpho-physiological traits and economic yields of horticultural crops have been increasingly gained attentions by many scientists and farmers. Hot pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is an important vegetable crop mostly grown in open-fields in South Korea. In this study, the impacts of prolonged heat stress on three hot pepper genotypes differing by levels of stress susceptibility were evaluated. The study was conducted in two different temperature-controlled greenhouses for 75 days. 48 days old plants were grown in control and heat-treated greenhouses where the temperatures had been set at 30 °C and 35 °C during the day for 75 days, respectively. Morphological, physiological, and nutrient characteristics of three accessions were measured. All hot pepper accessions were enabled to recover from prolonged heat stress exposures within approximately a month. The phenomenon of recovery was observed in some significant morphological and physiological characteristics. For example, the plant growth rate and photosynthesis rate significantly increased after 40th days of heat treatment. The heat stress sensitivity varied between genotypes. The plants that produced more fruits over biomass at early stage of heat treatment had relatively slow recovery, resulting in the largest yield loss. Top gate a-InGaZnO (IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) annealed at high temperature show excellent initial current–voltage (I–V) characteristics. However, when they are exposed to positive gate bias for a long time, hump can occur in the subthreshold region. This abnormal hump is accelerated at a higher positive gate voltage and mitigate by a negative gate voltage. While the strength of the hump is irrelevant to a change in channel width, it relies significantly on channel length. This phenomenon might be due to mobile Na ions diffused from a glass substrate migrating toward the back and edge side of the IGZO semiconductor by a vertical gate electric field. When a layer of Al2O3 is formed between the IGZO semiconductor and the glass substrate, the hump phenomenon could be successfully solved by serving as a barrier for Na ions moving into the IGZO. Environmental concerns over waste plastics' effect on the environment are leading to the creation of biodegradable plastics. Biodegradable plastics may serve as a promising approach to manage the issue of environmental accumulation of plastic waste in the ocean and soil. Biodegradable plastics are the type of polymers that can be degraded by microorganisms into small molecules (e.g., H2O, CO2, and CH4). However, there are misconceptions surrounding biodegradable plastics. For example, the term "biodegradable" on product labeling can be misconstrued by the public to imply that the product will degrade under any environmental conditions. Such misleading information leads to consumer encouragement of excessive consumption of certain goods and increased littering of products labeled as "biodegradable". This review not only provides a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art biodegradable plastics but also clarifies the definitions and various terms associated with biodegradable plastics, including oxo-degradable plastics, enzyme-mediated plastics, and biodegradation agents. Analytical techniques and standard test methods to evaluate the biodegradability of polymeric materials in alignment with international standards are summarized. The review summarizes the properties and industrial applications of previously developed biodegradable plastics and then discusses how biomass-derived monomers can create new types of biodegradable polymers by utilizing their unique chemical properties from oxygen-containing functional groups. The terminology and methodologies covered in the paper provide a perspective on directions for the design of new biodegradable polymers that possess not only advanced performance for practical applications but also environmental benefits. The Asian yellow-legged hornet, Vespa velutina nigrithorax, is native to Southeast Asia. However, it has invaded many countries in temperate regions, causing serious threats to honeybees and human health. With a growing demand for estimating the potential distribution of this species, multiple studies have resorted to occurrence-based models. However, they are less informative for predicting local abundance patterns associated with the species' impact. Thus, we aimed to develop an abundance-based distribution model for V. v. nigrithorax in Korea to support the forecast of its impact and associated management strategies. The abundance data of V. v. nigrithorax were collected from 254 sites for 4 years covering the country and used to develop a model with bioclimatic and land composition variables. Along with the abundance model, the classical occurrence model was tested to determine whether it could provide a reasonable prediction on the estimation of local abundance. As a result, the abundance model provided higher discriminative power and accuracy than the occurrence model to evaluate the impacts caused by V. v. nigrithorax. On the other hand, the occurrence model was not able to discriminate abundance in the areas occupied by V. v. nigrithorax, indicating an unclear occurrence-abundance relationship or oversimplification of the estimated niche created by the occurrence model. Based on the final abundance model, risk indices for human health and honeybee losses were suggested. These results could help to provide support for risk management of V. v. nigrithorax in Korea and to give biological information to other countries where this species has already become established or which it is likely to invade in the near future. This work investigates the function of the oxygen partial pressure in photo-induced current measurement of extended defect properties related to the distribution and quantity of defect states in electronic structures. The Fermi level was adjusted by applying a negative gate bias in the TFT structure, and the measurable range of activation energy was extended to < 2.0 eV. Calculations based on density functional theory are used to investigate the changes in defect characteristics and the role of defects at shallow and deep levels as a function of oxygen partial pressure. Device characteristics, such as mobility and threshold voltage shift under a negative gate bias, showed a linear correlation with the ratio of shallow level to deep level defect density. Shallow level and deep level defects are organically related, and both defects must be considered when understanding device characteristics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
