Abstract

Condensation polymers and copolymers are obtained by reaction of N.N′-bis(2.3-epoxypropyl)piperazine with primary aliphatic and aromatic amines, and with aliphatic, aromatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocyclic disecondary diamines. The reaction rates of the polycondensations of N.N′-bis(2.3-epoxypropyl)piperazine with primary amines rise with decreasing the chain length. In hydrocarbon solvents polycondensation reactions proceed slowly whereas in alcohols they are accelerated. Activation energies are 11.6 kcal/mole in the polycondensation with trans 2.5-dimethylpiperazine, 12.6 kcal/mole with n-dodecylamine, 16.5 kcal/mole with piperazine. Kondensationspolymere and Copolymere wurden durch Umsetzung von N.N′-Bis-(2.3-epoxypropyl)-piperazin mit aliphatischen und aromatischen primaren Aminen sowie mit aliphatischen, aromatischen, cycloaliphatischen und heterocyclischen bisekundaren Diaminen erhalten. Bei der Reaktion der primaren Amine fallt die Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit mit wachsender Kettenlange. Die Polykondensation verlauft in Kohlenwasserstoffen langsam und wird durch Alkohole beschleunigt. Die Aktivierungsenergien betragen 11,6 kcal/Mol bei der Polykondensation mit trans-2.5-Dimethylpiperazin, 12,6 kcal/Mol mit n-Dodecylamin und 16,5 kcal/Mol mit Piperazin.

Abstract

The stereochemistry of 5α-cholest-8-en-3β-ol to 5α-cholest-7-en-3β-ol isomerization was studied in rat liver homogenates incubated in the presence of either 3(±)-2R-[2- 3 H 1 ]- or 3(±)-2S-[2- 3 H 1 ]-mevalonic acid lactone. The isolated radioactive 5α-cholest-7-en-3β-ol and cholesta-5,7-dien-3β-ol acetates were transformed into the mixtures of epimeric cis-5α-cholestane-3β,7,8-triol-3β-acetates and then into the mixtures of epimeric 5α-cholestane-3β,8-diol-7-one 3β-acetates. Radioactivity contents showed that during the biological isomerization the 7α-hydrogen of 5α-cholest-8-en-3β-ol is completely eliminated whereas the 7β-hydrogen is retained.

Abstract

The mechanism of isomerization of Δ8to Δ7cholestenol is studied in rat liver homogenates incubated with (±)[2-3H2]-mevalonic acid lactone. The isolated 5α-cholest-7-en-3β-ol and cholesta-5,7-dien-3β-ol were both transformed into 5α-cholesta-7,9(11)-dien-3β-ol; the latter isolated sterol was also converted into 3,8-dioxo-7,8-seco-5α-cholestan-7-oic acid. Exchange experiments with deuterium and comparison of the radioactivities of the two sterols with those of their transformation products show that the Δ8to Δ7isomerization does not involve an intramolecular hydride shift from the 7- to 9α- position.

Abstract

Mycophenolic acid (28) has been obtained by a convergent synthesis starting from methyl 6-bromo-4-methylhex-4-enoate (13) and 5,7-dihydroxy-4-methylphthalide (24). For the total synthesis of 5,7-dihydroxy-4-methylphthalide, 1-carbethoxy-2,3-dimethylcyclohexa-4,6-dione (14) was aromatized and transformed into 4,6-dimethoxy-2,3-dimethylbenzamide. The photolysis of the corresponding N-chloroamide and subsequent hydrolysis gave 5,7-dimethoxy-4-methylphthalide which was hydrolysed to 5,7-dihydroxy-4-methylphthalide (24). The bromoester (13) was obtained starting from geraniol. Condensation between 13 and 24 with silver oxide in dioxane afforded the methyl ester of nor-O-methyl mycophenolic acid. Selective methylation and hydrolysis furnished mycophenolic acid.

Also, O-methylcoripalline is formed in this transformation.

Abstract

CUORE is a tonne-scale cryogenic detector operating at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) that uses tellurium dioxide bolometers to search for neutrinoless double-beta decay of130Te. CUORE is also suitable to search for low energy rare events such as solar axions or WIMP scattering, thanks to its ultra-low background and large target mass. However, to conduct such sensitive searches requires improving the energy threshold to 10 keV. In this paper, we describe the analysis techniques developed for the low energy analysis of CUORE-like detectors, using the data acquired from November 2013 to March 2015 by CUORE-0, a single-tower prototype designed to validate the assembly procedure and new cleaning techniques of CUORE. We explain the energy threshold optimization, continuous monitoring of the trigger efficiency, data and event selection, and energy calibration at low energies in detail. We also present the low energy background spectrum of CUORE-0 below 60keV. Abstract

In the past years the spotlight of the search for dark matter particles widened to the low mass region, both from theoretical and experimental side. We discuss results from data obtained in 2013 with a single detector TUM40. This detector is equipped with a new upgraded holding scheme to efficiently veto backgrounds induced by surface alpha decays. This veto, the low threshold of 0.6keV and an unprecedented background level for CaWO$_4$ target crystals render TUM40 the detector with the best overall performance of CRESST-II phase 2 (July 2013 - August 2015). The detector installation was completed in summer 2016. Before the installation, several cold runs were done to test the cryogenic system performance. In the last cold run the base temperature of 6.3mK was reached in stable condition. CUORE-0, a CUORE prototype, has proven the feasibility of CUORE, demonstrating that the target background of 0.01 counts/keV/kg/y and the energy resolution of 5 keV are within reach.
