Recent advances in deep learning algorithms have shown impressive progress in image copy-move forgery detection (CMFD). However, these algorithms lack generalizability in practical scenarios where the copied regions are not present in the training images, or the cloned regions are part of the background. Additionally, these algorithms utilize convolution operations to distinguish source and target regions, leading to unsatisfactory results when the target regions blend well with the background. To address these limitations, this study proposes a novel end-to-end CMFD framework that integrates the strengths of conventional and deep learning methods. Specifically, the study develops a deep cross-scale PatchMatch (PM) method that is customized for CMFD to locate copy-move regions. Unlike existing deep models, our approach utilizes features extracted from high-resolution scales to seek explicit and reliable point-to-point matching between source and target regions. Furthermore, we propose a novel pairwise rank learning framework to separate source and target regions. By leveraging the strong prior of point-to-point matches, the framework can identify subtle differences and effectively discriminate between source and target regions, even when the target regions blend well with the background. Our framework is fully differentiable and can be trained end-to-end. Recently, fiber optic sensors such as fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) have been widely investigated for shape reconstruction and force estimation of flexible surgical robots. However, most existing approaches need precise model parameters of FBGs inside the fiber and their alignments with the flexible robots for accurate sensing results. Another challenge lies in online acquiring external forces at arbitrary locations along the flexible robots, which is highly required when with large deflections in robotic surgery. In this paper, we propose a novel data-driven paradigm for simultaneous estimation of shape and force along highly deformable flexible robots by using sparse strain measurement from a single-core FBG fiber. A thin-walled soft sensing tube helically embedded with FBG sensors is designed for a robotic-assisted flexible ureteroscope with large deflection up to 270 degrees and a bend radius under 10 mm. We introduce and study three learning models by incorporating spatial strain encoders, and compare their performances in both free space and constrained environments with contact forces at different locations. Generating synthetic fake faces, known as pseudo-fake faces, is an effective way to improve the generalization of DeepFake detection. Existing methods typically generate these faces by blending real or fake faces in color space. While these methods have shown promise, they overlook the simulation of frequency distribution in pseudo-fake faces, limiting the learning of generic forgery traces in-depth. To address this, this paper introduces {\em FreqBlender}, a new method that can generate pseudo-fake faces by blending frequency knowledge. Specifically, we investigate the major frequency components and propose a Frequency Parsing Network to adaptively partition frequency components related to forgery traces. Then we blend this frequency knowledge from fake faces into real faces to generate pseudo-fake faces. Since there is no ground truth for frequency components, we describe a dedicated training strategy by leveraging the inner correlations among different frequency knowledge to instruct the learning process. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method in enhancing DeepFake detection, making it a potential plug-and-play strategy for other methods.

To glean the benefits offered by massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems, channel state information must be accurately acquired. Despite the high accuracy, the computational complexity of classical linear minimum mean squared error (MMSE) estimator becomes prohibitively high in the context of massive MIMO, while the other low-complexity methods degrade the estimation accuracy seriously. In this paper, we develop a novel rank-1 subspace channel estimator to approximate the maximum likelihood (ML) estimator, which outperforms the linear MMSE estimator, but incurs a surprisingly low computational complexity. Our method first acquires the highly accurate angle-of-arrival (AoA) information via a constructed space-embedding matrix and the rank-1 subspace method. Then, it adopts the post-reception beamforming to acquire the unbiased estimate of channel gains. Furthermore, a fast method is designed to implement our new estimator. Theoretical analysis shows that the extra gain achieved by our method over the linear MMSE estimator grows according to the rule of O($\log_{10}M$), while its computational complexity is linearly scalable to the number of antennas $M$. Numerical simulations also validate the theoretical results. This study explored the application of portable X-ray fluorescence (PXRF) spectrometry and soil image analysis to rapidly assess soil fertility, focusing on critical parameters such as available B, organic carbon (OC), available Mn, available S, and the sulfur availability index (SAI). Analyzing 1,133 soil samples from various agro-climatic zones in Eastern India, the research combined color and texture features from microscopic soil images, PXRF data, and auxiliary soil variables (AVs) using a Random Forest model. Results indicated that integrating image features (IFs) with auxiliary variables (AVs) significantly enhanced prediction accuracy for available B (R^2 = 0.80) and OC (R^2 = 0.88). A data fusion approach, incorporating IFs, AVs, and PXRF data, further improved predictions for available Mn and SAI with R^2 values of 0.72 and 0.70, respectively. The study demonstrated how these integrated technologies have the potential to provide quick and affordable options for soil testing, opening up access to more sophisticated prediction models and a better comprehension of the fertility and health of the soil. Heart rate is an important physiological indicator of human health status. Existing remote heart rate measurement methods typically involve facial detection followed by signal extraction from the region of interest (ROI). These SOTA methods have three serious problems: (a) inaccuracies even failures in detection caused by environmental influences or subject movement; (b) failures for special patients such as infants and burn victims; (c) privacy leakage issues resulting from collecting face video. To address these issues, we regard the remote heart rate measurement as the process of analyzing the spatiotemporal characteristics of the optical flow signal in the video. We apply chaos theory to computer vision tasks for the first time, thus designing a brain-inspired framework. Firstly, using an artificial primary visual cortex model to extract the skin in the videos, and then calculate heart rate by time-frequency analysis on all pixels. Our method achieves Robust Skin Tracking for Heart Rate measurement, called HR-RST. The experimental results show that HR-RST overcomes the difficulty of environmental influences and effectively tracks the subject movement. Moreover, the method could extend to other body parts. End-to-End paradigms use a unified framework to implement multi-tasks in an autonomous driving system. Despite simplicity and clarity, the performance of end-to-end autonomous driving methods on sub-tasks is still far behind the single-task methods. Meanwhile, the widely used dense BEV features in previous end-to-end methods make it costly to extend to more modalities or tasks. In this paper, we propose a Sparse query-centric paradigm for end-to-end Autonomous Driving (SparseAD), where the sparse queries completely represent the whole driving scenario across space, time and tasks without any dense BEV representation. Concretely, we design a unified sparse architecture for perception tasks including detection, tracking, and online mapping. Moreover, we revisit motion prediction and planning, and devise a more justifiable motion planner framework. On the challenging nuScenes dataset, SparseAD achieves SOTA full-task performance among end-to-end methods and significantly narrows the performance gap between end-to-end paradigms and single-task methods. Deep learning-based video compression is a challenging task, and many previous state-of-the-art learning-based video codecs use optical flows to exploit the temporal correlation between successive frames and then compress the residual error. Although these two-stage models are end-to-end optimized, the epistemic uncertainty in the motion estimation and the aleatoric uncertainty from the quantization operation lead to errors in the intermediate representations and introduce artifacts in the reconstructed frames. This inherent flaw limits the potential for higher bit rate savings. To address this issue, we propose an uncertainty-aware video compression model that can effectively capture the predictive uncertainty with deep ensembles. Additionally, we introduce an ensemble-aware loss to encourage the diversity among ensemble members and investigate the benefits of incorporating adversarial training in the video compression task. Drawing on recent advancements in diffusion models for text-to-image generation, identity-preserved personalization has made significant progress in accurately capturing specific identities with just a single reference image. However, existing methods primarily integrate reference images within the text embedding space, leading to a complex entanglement of image and text information, which poses challenges for preserving both identity fidelity and semantic consistency. To tackle this challenge, we propose Infinite-ID, an ID-semantics decoupling paradigm for identity-preserved personalization. Specifically, we introduce identity-enhanced training, incorporating an additional image cross-attention module to capture sufficient ID information while deactivating the original text cross-attention module of the diffusion model. This ensures that the image stream faithfully represents the identity provided by the reference image while mitigating interference from textual input. Additionally, we introduce a feature interaction mechanism that combines a mixed attention module with an AdaIN-mean operation to seamlessly merge the two streams. This mechanism not only enhances the fidelity of identity and semantic consistency but also enables convenient control over the styles of the generated images. Extensive experimental results on both raw photo generation and style image generation demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed method.

The proliferation of malicious deepfake applications has ignited substantial public apprehension, casting a shadow of doubt upon the integrity of digital media. Despite the development of proficient deepfake detection mechanisms, they persistently demonstrate pronounced vulnerability to an array of attacks. It is noteworthy that the pre-existing repertoire of attacks predominantly comprises adversarial example attack, predominantly manifesting during the testing phase. In the present study, we introduce a pioneering paradigm denominated as Bad-Deepfake, which represents a novel foray into the realm of backdoor attacks levied against deepfake detectors. Our approach hinges upon the strategic manipulation of a delimited subset of the training data, enabling us to wield disproportionate influence over the operational characteristics of a trained model. This manipulation leverages inherent frailties inherent to deepfake detectors, affording us the capacity to engineer triggers and judiciously select the most efficacious samples for the construction of the poisoned set. Through the synergistic amalgamation of these sophisticated techniques, we achieve an remarkable performance-a 100% attack success rate (ASR) against extensively employed deepfake detectors., Comment: BigDIA 2023

We consider a discrete-time system where a resource-constrained source (e.g., a small sensor) transmits its time-sensitive data to a destination over a time-varying wireless channel. Each transmission incurs a fixed transmission cost (e.g., energy cost), and no transmission results in a staleness cost represented by the Age-of-Information. The source must balance the tradeoff between transmission and staleness costs. To address this challenge, we develop a robust online algorithm to minimize the sum of transmission and staleness costs, ensuring a worst-case performance guarantee. While online algorithms are robust, they are usually overly conservative and may have a poor average performance in typical scenarios. In contrast, by leveraging historical data and prediction models, machine learning (ML) algorithms perform well in average cases. However, they typically lack worst-case performance guarantees. To achieve the best of both worlds, we design a learning-augmented online algorithm that exhibits two desired properties: (i) consistency: closely approximating the optimal offline algorithm when the ML prediction is accurate and trusted; (ii) robustness: ensuring worst-case performance guarantee even ML predictions are inaccurate. High-cadence, multiwavelength observations have continuously revealed the diversity of tidal disruption events (TDEs), thus greatly advancing our knowledge and understanding of TDEs. In this work, we conducted an intensive optical-UV and X-ray follow-up campaign of TDE AT2023lli, and found a remarkable month-long bump in its UV/optical light curve nearly two months prior to maximum brightness. The bump represents the longest separation time from the main peak among known TDEs to date. The main UV/optical outburst declines as $t^{-4.10}$, making it one of the fastest decaying optically selected TDEs. Furthermore, we detected sporadic X-ray emission 30 days after the UV/optical peak, accompanied by a reduction in the period of inactivity. It is proposed that the UV/optical bump could be caused by the self-intersection of the stream debris, whereas the primary peak is generated by the reprocessed emission of the accretion process. In addition, our results suggest that episodic X-ray radiation during the initial phase of decline may be due to the patched obscurer surrounding the accretion disk, a phenomenon associated with the inhomogeneous reprocessing process. The double TDE scenario, in which two stars are disrupted in sequence, is also a possible explanation for producing the observed early bump and main peak. We anticipate that the multicolor light curves of TDEs, especially in the very early stages, and the underlying physics can be better understood in the near future with the assistance of dedicated surveys such as the deep high-cadence survey of the 2.5-meter Wide Field Survey Telescope (WFST)., Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures,accepted for publication by ApJL

Unsupervised cross-domain image retrieval (UCIR) aims to retrieve images sharing the same category across diverse domains without relying on labeled data. Prior approaches have typically decomposed the UCIR problem into two distinct tasks: intra-domain representation learning and cross-domain feature alignment. However, these segregated strategies overlook the potential synergies between these tasks. This paper introduces ProtoOT, a novel Optimal Transport formulation explicitly tailored for UCIR, which integrates intra-domain feature representation learning and cross-domain alignment into a unified framework. ProtoOT leverages the strengths of the K-means clustering method to effectively manage distribution imbalances inherent in UCIR. By utilizing K-means for generating initial prototypes and approximating class marginal distributions, we modify the constraints in Optimal Transport accordingly, significantly enhancing its performance in UCIR scenarios. Furthermore, we incorporate contrastive learning into the ProtoOT framework to further improve representation learning. This encourages local semantic consistency among features with similar semantics, while also explicitly enforcing separation between features and unmatched prototypes, thereby enhancing global discriminativeness. ProtoOT surpasses existing state-of-the-art methods by a notable margin across benchmark datasets. Notably, on DomainNet, ProtoOT achieves an average P@200 enhancement of 24.44%, and on Office-Home, it demonstrates a P@15 improvement of 12.12%. The emerging conditional coding-based neural video codec (NVC) shows superiority over commonly-used residual coding-based codec and the latest NVC already claims to outperform the best traditional codec. However, there still exist critical problems blocking the practicality of NVC. In this paper, we propose a powerful conditional coding-based NVC that solves two critical problems via feature modulation. The first is how to support a wide quality range in a single model. Previous NVC with this capability only supports about 3.8 dB PSNR range on average. To tackle this limitation, we modulate the latent feature of the current frame via the learnable quantization scaler. During the training, we specially design the uniform quantization parameter sampling mechanism to improve the harmonization of encoding and quantization. This results in a better learning of the quantization scaler and helps our NVC support about 11.4 dB PSNR range. The second is how to make NVC still work under a long prediction chain. We expose that the previous SOTA NVC has an obvious quality degradation problem when using a large intra-period setting. To this end, we propose modulating the temporal feature with a periodically refreshing mechanism to boost the quality. %Besides solving the above two problems, we also design a single model that can support both RGB and YUV colorspaces. Notably, under single intra-frame setting, our codec can achieve 29.7\% bitrate saving over previous SOTA NVC with 16\% MACs reduction. Accurate forecasting of Tropical cyclone (TC) intensity is crucial for formulating disaster risk reduction strategies. Current methods predominantly rely on limited spatiotemporal information from ERA5 data and neglect the causal relationships between these physical variables, failing to fully capture the spatial and temporal patterns required for intensity forecasting. To address this issue, we propose a Multi-modal multi-Scale Causal AutoRegressive model (MSCAR), which is the first model that combines causal relationships with large-scale multi-modal data for global TC intensity autoregressive forecasting. Furthermore, given the current absence of a TC dataset that offers a wide range of spatial variables, we present the Satellite and ERA5-based Tropical Cyclone Dataset (SETCD), which stands as the longest and most comprehensive global dataset related to TCs. Experiments on the dataset show that MSCAR outperforms the state-of-the-art methods, achieving maximum reductions in global and regional forecast errors of 9.52% and 6.74%, respectively. In this paper, we mainly discuss the local regularity of the solution to the following problem \begin{align*} \begin{cases} -\dive({\bf{A}}(x)\nabla u(x))=f(x),&~x\in\Omega,\\ u(x)=0,&~x\in\partial\Omega, \end{cases} \end{align*} where $\Omega$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. In particular, we are concerned with the connection between the regularity of the solution $u$ and the integrability of the coefficient matrix ${\bf{A}}(x)$ as well as the nonhomogeneous term $f$. To be more precise, our first result is to prove that the maximum norm of $u$ can be controlled by $\|f\|_{s}$ with $f\in L^s(\Omega),~s>\frac{nq}{2q-n},~q>\frac{n}{2}$. Meanwhile, we construct some counterexamples to illustrate the index $\frac{nq}{2q-n}$ being sharp. Subsequently, we give an improved upper bound for the maximum norm of $u$. Namely, there exists a positive constant $C$ such that $$\|u\|_{\infty}\leq C\|f\|_{\frac{nq}{2q-n}}\left[\log\left(\frac{\|f\|_{s}}{~~~~~\|f\|_{\frac{nq}{2q-n}}}+1\right)+1\right].$$ Specially, the main difference of our approach compared to the arguments of [\ref{CUR}, \ref{XU}] is to construct two classes of truncation functions to remove the assumption of the boundedness of $u$. Finally, based on the previous results and Moser iteration argument, we derive the Harnack inequality of $u$ from which the H\"older continuity of the solution follows. In addition, we also find that the Lebesgue space $L^{\frac{n}{2}}(\Omega)$ to which the inverse of the smallest eigenvalue $\lambda(x) $ of the matrix {\bf{A}}(x) belongs is essentially sharp in order to establish local boundedness and the H\"older continuity of the solution.

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated exceptional performance in various natural language processing (NLP) tasks. However, their effective application in the medical domain is hampered by a lack of medical domain knowledge. In this study, we present SA-MDKIF, a scalable and adaptable framework that aims to inject medical knowledge into general-purpose LLMs through instruction tuning, thereby enabling adaptability for various downstream tasks. SA-MDKIF consists of two stages: skill training and skill adaptation. In the first stage, we define 12 basic medical skills and use AdaLoRA to train these skills based on uniformly formatted instructional datasets that we have constructed. In the next stage, we train the skill router using task-specific downstream data and use this router to integrate the acquired skills with LLMs during inference. Experimental results on 9 different medical tasks show that SA-MDKIF improves performance by 10-20% compared to the original LLMs. Notably, this improvement is particularly pronounced for unseen medical tasks, showing an improvement of up to 30%.

Recently, Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based vulnerability detection systems have achieved remarkable success. However, the lack of explainability poses a critical challenge to deploy black-box models in security-related domains. For this reason, several approaches have been proposed to explain the decision logic of the detection model by providing a set of crucial statements positively contributing to its predictions. Unfortunately, due to the weakly-robust detection models and suboptimal explanation strategy, they have the danger of revealing spurious correlations and redundancy issue. In this paper, we propose Coca, a general framework aiming to 1) enhance the robustness of existing GNN-based vulnerability detection models to avoid spurious explanations; and 2) provide both concise and effective explanations to reason about the detected vulnerabilities. \sysname consists of two core parts referred to as Trainer and Explainer. The former aims to train a detection model which is robust to random perturbation based on combinatorial contrastive learning, while the latter builds an explainer to derive crucial code statements that are most decisive to the detected vulnerability via dual-view causal inference as explanations. We apply Coca over three typical GNN-based vulnerability detectors. The remarkable achievements of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, particularly in Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL), have fueled their extensive deployment across multiple sectors, including Software Engineering (SE). However, due to their black-box nature, these promising AI-driven SE models are still far from being deployed in practice. This lack of explainability poses unwanted risks for their applications in critical tasks, such as vulnerability detection, where decision-making transparency is of paramount importance. This paper endeavors to elucidate this interdisciplinary domain by presenting a systematic literature review of approaches that aim to improve the explainability of AI models within the context of SE. The review canvasses work appearing in the most prominent SE & AI conferences and journals, and spans 63 papers across 21 unique SE tasks. Based on three key Research Questions (RQs), we aim to (1) summarize the SE tasks where XAI techniques have shown success to date; (2) classify and analyze different XAI techniques; and (3) investigate existing evaluation approaches. Endowing machines with abstract reasoning ability has been a long-term research topic in artificial intelligence. Raven's Progressive Matrix (RPM) is widely used to probe abstract visual reasoning in machine intelligence, where models will analyze the underlying rules and select one image from candidates to complete the image matrix. Participators of RPM tests can show powerful reasoning ability by inferring and combining attribute-changing rules and imagining the missing images at arbitrary positions of a matrix. However, existing solvers can hardly manifest such an ability in realistic RPM tests. In this paper, we propose a deep latent variable model for answer generation problems through Rule AbstractIon and SElection (RAISE). RAISE can encode image attributes into latent concepts and abstract atomic rules that act on the latent concepts. When generating answers, RAISE selects one atomic rule out of the global knowledge set for each latent concept to constitute the underlying rule of an RPM. In the experiments of bottom-right and arbitrary-position answer generation, RAISE outperforms the compared solvers in most configurations of realistic RPM datasets. In the odd-one-out task and two held-out configurations, RAISE can leverage acquired latent concepts and atomic rules to find the rule-breaking image in a matrix and handle problems with unseen combinations of rules and attributes.

Learning neural operators for solving partial differential equations (PDEs) has attracted great attention due to its high inference efficiency. However, training such operators requires generating a substantial amount of labeled data, i.e., PDE problems together with their solutions. The data generation process is exceptionally time-consuming, as it involves solving numerous systems of linear equations to obtain numerical solutions to the PDEs. Many existing methods solve these systems independently without considering their inherent similarities, resulting in extremely redundant computations. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel method, namely Sorting Krylov Recycling (SKR), to boost the efficiency of solving these systems, thus significantly accelerating data generation for neural operators training. To the best of our knowledge, SKR is the first attempt to address the time-consuming nature of data generation for learning neural operators. The working horse of SKR is Krylov subspace recycling, a powerful technique for solving a series of interrelated systems by leveraging their inherent similarities. Specifically, SKR employs a sorting algorithm to arrange these systems in a sequence, where adjacent systems exhibit high similarities. Then it equips a solver with Krylov subspace recycling to solve the systems sequentially instead of independently, thus effectively enhancing the solving efficiency. Both theoretical analysis and extensive experiments demonstrate that SKR can significantly accelerate neural operator data generation, achieving a remarkable speedup of up to 13.9 times.

Visual scenes are extremely diverse, not only because there are infinite possible combinations of objects and backgrounds but also because the observations of the same scene may vary greatly with the change of viewpoints. When observing a multi-object visual scene from multiple viewpoints, humans can perceive the scene compositionally from each viewpoint while achieving the so-called ``object constancy'' across different viewpoints, even though the exact viewpoints are untold. This ability is essential for humans to identify the same object while moving and to learn from vision efficiently. It is intriguing to design models that have a similar ability. In this paper, we consider a novel problem of learning compositional scene representations from multiple unspecified (i.e., unknown and unrelated) viewpoints without using any supervision and propose a deep generative model which separates latent representations into a viewpoint-independent part and a viewpoint-dependent part to solve this problem. During the inference, latent representations are randomly initialized and iteratively updated by integrating the information in different viewpoints with neural networks. The exponential growth of large language models (LLMs) has opened up numerous possibilities for multimodal AGI systems. However, the progress in vision and vision-language foundation models, which are also critical elements of multi-modal AGI, has not kept pace with LLMs. In this work, we design a large-scale vision-language foundation model (InternVL), which scales up the vision foundation model to 6 billion parameters and progressively aligns it with the LLM, using web-scale image-text data from various sources. This model can be broadly applied to and achieve state-of-the-art performance on 32 generic visual-linguistic benchmarks including visual perception tasks such as image-level or pixel-level recognition, vision-language tasks such as zero-shot image/video classification, zero-shot image/video-text retrieval, and link with LLMs to create multi-modal dialogue systems. It has powerful visual capabilities and can be a good alternative to the ViT-22B. We hope that our research could contribute to the development of multi-modal large models. Flexoelectricity shows promising applications for self-powered devices with its increased power density. This paper presents a second-order computational homogenization strategy for flexoelectric composite. The macro-micro scale transition, Hill-Mandel energy condition, periodic boundary conditions, and macroscopic constitutive tangents for the two-scale electromechanical coupling are investigated and considered in the homogenization formulation. The macrostructure and microstructure are discretized using $C^1$ triangular finite elements. The second-order multiscale solution scheme is implemented using ABAQUS with user subroutines. Finally, we present numerical examples including parametric analysis of a square plate with holes and the design of piezoelectric materials made of non-piezoelectric materials to demonstrate the numerical implementation and the size-dependent effects of flexoelectricity.

Ultrahigh electrostrains (greater than 1%) in several piezoceramic systems have been reported since 2022, which attract more and more interest in the field of piezoelectricity; however, the mechanism is still unclear. Here, we have directly observed a novel electric field-induced bending (electrobending) phenomenon that visually exhibites as an alternating concave-convex deformation under an electric field of plus or minus 50 kV cm-1, in nonstoichiometric (K0.48Na0.52)0.99NbO2.995 ceramics, which causes the measured ultrahigh electrostrain. It is demonstrated that the electrobending deformation arises from the different stresses due to the stretching or compression of the defect dipoles on the upper and lower surfaces of the ceramics. As a result of the large electrobending deformation, a giant apparent electrostrain of 11.6% is obtained at room temperature, and it can even reach up to 26.0% at 210 degree Celsius, which far exceeds that of all present piezoelectric materials. Our discovery is an important addition and refinement to the field of condensed matter physics, whilst providing a new strategy and shedding light on the design of future precision actuators or intelligent devices.

Deep Learning (DL) is penetrating into a diverse range of mass mobility, smart living, and industrial applications, rapidly transforming the way we live and work. DL is at the heart of many AI implementations. A key set of challenges is to produce AI modules that are: (1) "circular" - can solve new tasks without forgetting how to solve previous ones, (2) "secure" - have immunity to adversarial data attacks, and (3) "tiny" - implementable in low power low cost embedded hardware. Clearly it is difficult to achieve all three aspects on a single horizontal layer of platforms, as the techniques require transformed deep representations that incur different computation and communication requirements. Here we set out the vision to achieve transformed DL representations across a 5G and Beyond networked architecture. We first detail the cross-sectoral motivations for each challenge area, before demonstrating recent advances in DL research that can achieve circular, secure, and tiny AI (CST-AI). Recognising the conflicting demand of each transformed deep representation, we federate their deep learning transformations and functionalities across the network to achieve connected run-time capabilities.

With the boom in the natural language processing (NLP) field these years, backdoor attacks pose immense threats against deep neural network models. However, previous works hardly consider the effect of the poisoning rate. In this paper, our main objective is to reduce the number of poisoned samples while still achieving a satisfactory Attack Success Rate (ASR) in text backdoor attacks. To accomplish this, we propose an efficient trigger word insertion strategy in terms of trigger word optimization and poisoned sample selection. Extensive experiments on different datasets and models demonstrate that our proposed method can significantly improve attack effectiveness in text classification tasks. Remarkably, our approach achieves an ASR of over 90% with only 10 poisoned samples in the dirty-label setting and requires merely 1.5% of the training data in the clean-label setting.

We conducted a Ka-band (26.1--35 GHz) line survey towards Orion KL using the TianMa 65-m Radio Telescope (TMRT). It is the first blind line survey in the Ka band, and achieves a sensitivity of mK level (1--3 mK at a spectral resolution of $\sim$1 km s$^{-1}$). In total, 592 Gaussian features are extracted. Among them, 257 radio recombination lines (RRLs) are identified. The maximum $\Delta n$ of RRLs of H, He and C are 20, 15, and 5, respectively. Through stacking, we have detected the $\beta$ lines of ion RRLs (RRLs of C$^+$ with possible contribution of other ions like O$^+$) for the first time, and tentative signal of the $\gamma$ lines of ion RRLs can also be seen on the stacked spectrum. Besides, 318 other line features were assigned to 37 molecular species, and ten of these species were not detected in the Q-band survey of TMRT. The vibrationally excited states of nine species were also detected. Emission of most species can be modeled under LTE. A number of transitions of E-CH3OH ($J_2-J_1$) display maser effects, which are confirmed by our modeling, and besides the bumping peak at $J\sim 6$ there is another peak at $J\sim 13$. Methylcyanoacetylene (CH$_3$C$_3$N) is detected in Orion KL for the first time. With the increasing availability of Foundation Models, federated tuning has garnered attention in the field of federated learning, utilizing data and computation resources from multiple clients to collaboratively fine-tune foundation models. However, in real-world federated scenarios, there often exist a multitude of heterogeneous clients with varying computation and communication resources, rendering them incapable of supporting the entire model fine-tuning process. In response to this challenge, we propose a novel federated tuning algorithm, FedRA. The implementation of FedRA is straightforward and can be seamlessly integrated into any transformer-based model without the need for further modification to the original model. Specifically, in each communication round, FedRA randomly generates an allocation matrix. For resource-constrained clients, it reorganizes a small number of layers from the original model based on the allocation matrix and fine-tunes using adapters. Subsequently, the server aggregates the updated adapter parameters from the clients according to the current allocation matrix into the corresponding layers of the original model. It is worth noting that FedRA also supports scenarios where none of the clients can support the entire global model, which is an impressive advantage. We conduct experiments on two large-scale image datasets, DomainNet and NICO++, under various non-iid settings. The results demonstrate that FedRA outperforms the compared methods significantly. Deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely used in surface defect detection. However, no CNN architecture is suitable for all detection tasks and designing effective task-specific requires considerable effort. The neural architecture search (NAS) technology makes it possible to automatically generate adaptive data-driven networks. Here, we propose a new method called NAS-ASDet to adaptively design network for surface defect detection. First, a refined and industry-appropriate search space that can adaptively adjust the feature distribution is designed, which consists of repeatedly stacked basic novel cells with searchable attention operations. Then, a progressive search strategy with a deep supervision mechanism is used to explore the search space faster and better. This method can design high-performance and lightweight defect detection networks with data scarcity in industrial scenarios. The experimental results on four datasets demonstrate that the proposed method achieves superior performance and a relatively lighter model size compared to other competitive methods, including both manual and NAS-based approaches.

One-shot federated learning (OSFL) has gained attention in recent years due to its low communication cost. However, most of the existing methods require auxiliary datasets or training generators, which hinders their practicality in real-world scenarios. In this paper, we explore the novel opportunities that diffusion models bring to OSFL and propose FedCADO, utilizing guidance from client classifiers to generate data that complies with clients' distributions and subsequently training the aggregated model on the server. Specifically, our method involves targeted optimizations in two aspects. On one hand, we conditionally edit the randomly sampled initial noises, embedding them with specified semantics and distributions, resulting in a significant improvement in both the quality and stability of generation. On the other hand, we employ the BN statistics from the classifiers to provide detailed guidance during generation. These tailored optimizations enable us to limitlessly generate datasets, which closely resemble the distribution and quality of the original client dataset. Our method effectively handles the heterogeneous client models and the problems of non-IID features or labels. In terms of privacy protection, our method avoids training any generator or transferring any auxiliary information on clients, eliminating any additional privacy leakage risks. Leveraging the extensive knowledge stored in the pre-trained diffusion model, the synthetic datasets can assist us in surpassing the knowledge limitations of the client samples, resulting in aggregation models that even outperform the performance ceiling of centralized training in some cases, which is convincingly demonstrated in the sufficient quantification and visualization experiments conducted on three large-scale multi-domain image datasets.

Few-shot image generation aims to train generative models using a small number of training images. When there are few images available for training (e.g. 10 images), Learning From Scratch (LFS) methods often generate images that closely resemble the training data while Transfer Learning (TL) methods try to improve performance by leveraging prior knowledge from GANs pre-trained on large-scale datasets. However, current TL methods may not allow for sufficient control over the degree of knowledge preservation from the source model, making them unsuitable for setups where the source and target domains are not closely related. To address this, we propose a novel pipeline called Peer is your Pillar (PIP), which combines a target few-shot dataset with a peer dataset to create a data-unbalanced conditional generation. Our approach includes a class embedding method that separates the class space from the latent space, and we use a direction loss based on pre-trained CLIP to improve image diversity. Experiments on various few-shot datasets demonstrate the advancement of the proposed PIP, especially reduces the training requirements of few-shot image generation., Comment: Under Review
