106. Removal of Phosphorus from Water through Microbially-induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation.

Abstract

Due to human activities, excessive phosphorus emissions into water bodies are increasing, leading to eutrophication. The phosphorus-induced eutrophication can directly result in deterioration of water quality and biological imbalance in aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, it is important to develop efficient and cost-effective approaches to phosphorus removal from waters. As a novel bioremediation technology, microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) has been widely employed to mitigate heavy metal contamination. However, it is still unclear whether MICP is a suitable strategy for reducing phosphorus-based water eutrophication. To achieve this goal, the present study evaluated the effect of MICP using a typical ureolytic bacterium Sporosarcina pasteurii on the removal of soluble phosphate in the range of 150~400 mg/L. The results showed that the concentration of soluble phosphate quickly declined within 2 hours when MICP was initiated by Ca2+ additive. Upon the treatment of MICP, the removal extents of soluble phosphate for the systems with 150, 300 and 400 mg/L reached 95.4%, 87.72% and 72.05%, respectively. The resulting bio-precipitates were collected for mineralogical analyses. The data showed that phosphate was removed from solution by the adsorption of microbial calcite under low phosphorus conditions (150 and 300 mg/L). However, phosphate was mainly removed via the co-precipitation process when the initial phosphate concentration was 400 mg/L. The co-precipitated minerals were composed of hydroxyapatite and phosphorus-containing calcite. 107. Continuum limits for rational, breather solutions, and gauge equivalent model of the generalized discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation.

Abstract

In this paper, we focus on an integrable higher‐order discrete nonlinear Schrödinger (dNLS) equation, which yields the Lakshmanan–Porsezian–Daniel (LPD) equation in the continuum limit. The breather solutions of the higher‐order dNLS are obtained for the first time. We show that the rational solutions and breather solutions of the higher‐order dNLS equation yield the counterparts of the integrable fourth‐order NLS equation under proper continuous limits. Most importantly, we also explore the gauge equivalent equation of the higher‐order dNLS equation from the point of view of the continuous limit theory. We make integrable discretization for the linear spectrum problem of the integrable generalized Heisenberg ferromagnetic equation that is just the gauge equivalent structure of the LPD equation. Compatibility condition of the discrete linear spectrum problem leads to a discrete integrable generalized Heisenberg Ferromagnetic equation. It is revealed that the discrete linear spectrum problem of the discrete integrable generalized ferromagnetic equation converges to the corresponding spectrum problem of the integrable generalized Feisenberg spin model in the continuum limit.In addition, with the help of the method of linear combinations for the conserved fluxes and densities, the conservation laws of the integrable higher‐order dNLS equation converge to the homologous results of the LPD equation. 122. Summary of the 2022 Report on Cardiovascular Health and Diseases in China

Abstract

Recent decades have seen the remarkable development of China in medical accessibility and quality index, and the application of a number of new advanced cardiovascular technologies benefits more patients. However, according to the Annual Report on Cardiovascular Health and Diseases in China published in this article, which was organized and summarized by National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, there is still a huge population living with risk factors of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), and the morbidity and mortality of CVD are increasing. It is estimated that there are around 330 million patients suffering from CVD currently, including 245 million of hypertension, 13 million of stroke, 45.3 million of peripheral artery disease, 11.39 million of coronary heart disease (CHD), 8.9 million of heart failure, 5 million of pulmonary heart disease, 4.87 million of atrial fibrillation, 2.5 million of rheumatic heart disease, and 2 million of congenital heart disease. Tobacco use, diet and nutrition factors, physical activity, overweight and obesity, and psychological factors are what affect cardiovascular health, while hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, metabolic syndrome, and air pollution are the risk factors for CVD. In this article, in addition to risk factors for CVD, we also report the epidemiological trends of CVD, including CHD, cerebrovascular disease, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, pulmonary vascular disease and venous thromboembolism, and aortic and peripheral artery diseases, as well as the basic research and medical device development in CVD. In a word, China has entered a new stage of transforming from high-speed development focusing on scale growth to high-quality development emphasizing on strategic and key technological development to curb the trend of increasing incidence and mortality of CVD.
