We compute the right top quark coupling in the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model. In the Standard Model the real part of this coupling is dominated by QCD-gluon-exchange diagram, but the imaginary part, instead, is purely electroweak at one loop. Within this model we show that values for the imaginary part of the coupling up to one order of magnitude larger than the electroweak prediction can be obtained. For the real part of the electroweak contribution we find that it can be up to three orders of magnitude larger than the standard model one. We also present detailed results of the one loop analytical computation.

We have recently suggested that gas accretion can be studied using host galaxies of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). We obtained the first ever far-infrared (FIR) line observations of a GRB host, namely Herschel/PACS resolved [CII] 158 um and [OI] 63 um spectroscopy, as well as APEX CO(2-1) and ALMA CO(1-0) observations of the GRB 980425 host. It has elevated [CII]/FIR and [OI]/FIR ratios and higher values of star formation rate (SFR) derived from line ([CII], [OI], Ha) than from continuum (UV, IR, radio) indicators. [CII] emission exhibits a normal morphology, peaking at the galaxy center, whereas [OI] is concentrated close to the GRB position and the nearby Wolf-Rayet region. The high [OI] flux indicates high radiation field and gas density. The [CII]/CO luminosity ratio of the GRB 980425 host is close to the highest values found for local star-forming galaxies. Its CO-derived molecular gas mass is low given its SFR and metallicity, but the [CII]-derived molecular gas mass is close to the expected value. The [OI] and HI concentrations, and the high radiation field and density are consistent with the hypothesis of a very recent (at most a few tens of Myr ago) inflow of atomic gas triggering star formation. Dust has not had time to build up (explaining high line-to-continuum ratios). Such a recent enhancement of star-formation would indeed manifest itself in high SFR_line/SFR_continuum ratios, because the line indicators are sensitive only to recent (<10 Myr) activity, whereas the continuum indicators measure the SFR averaged over much longer periods (~100 Myr). Other GRB hosts exhibit a mean SFR_line/SFR_continuum of 1.74+-0.32. This is consistent with a very recent enhancement of star formation being common among GRB hosts, so galaxies which have recently experienced inflow of gas may preferentially host stars exploding as GRBs. We analyze the recent diphoton signal reported by ATLAS and CMS collaborations in the context of the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ anomaly free models, with a 750 GeV scalar candidate which can decay into two photons. These models may explain the 750GeV signal by means of one loop decays to $\gamma\gamma$ through charged vector and Higgs bosons, as well as top-, bottom- and electron-like exotic particles that arise naturally from the condition of anomaly cancellations of the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ models., Comment: 7 Figures added, minor changes

Microvariability (intra-night variability) is a low amplitude flux change at short time scales (i.e. hours). It has been detected in unobscured type 1 AGNs and blazars. However in type 2 AGNs, the detection is hampered by the low contrast between the presumably variable nucleus and the host galaxy. In this paper, we present a search for microvariability in a sample of four type 2 quasars as an astrostatistical problem. We are exploring the use of a newly introduced enhanced F-test, proposed by de Diego 2014. The presented results show that out of our four observed targets, we were able to apply this statistical method to three of them. Evidence of microvariations is clear in the case of quasar J0802+2552 in all used filters (g',r' and i') during both observing nights, the microvariations are present in one of the nights of observations of J1258+5239 in one filter (i'), while for the J1316+4452, there is evidence for microvariability within our detection levels during one night and two filters (r' and i'). We demonstrate the feasibility of the enhanced F-test to detect microvariability in obscured type 2 quasars. At the end of this paper, we discuss possible causes of microvariability. One of the options is the misclassification of the targets. A likely scenario for explanation of the phenomenon involves optically thin gaps in a clumpy obscuring medium, in accordance with the present view of the circumnuclear region. The study of the evolution of the morphological distribution of galaxies in different environments can provide important information about the effects of the environment and the physical mechanisms responsible for the morphological transformations. As part of a complete analysis of the young cluster RXJ1257+4738 at z$\sim$0.9, we studied in this work the morphological properties of its galaxies. We used non-parametric methods of morphological classification, as implemented in the galSVM code. The classification with the applied method was possible even using ground-based observations: r'-band imaging from OSIRIS/GTC. We defined very conservative probability limits, taking into account the probability errors, in order to obtain a trustworthy classification. In this way we were able to classify about the 30% of all cluster members, and to separate between LT and ET galaxies. Additionally, when analysing the colour-magnitude diagram, we observed a significant population of blue ET galaxies between the classified ones. We discussed possible explanations for the finding of this population. Moreover, we studied different physical properties of LT, ET, and blue ET galaxies. They turn out to be comparable, with the exception of the stellar mass that shows that the red ET population is more massive. We also analysed the morphology-density and morphology-radius relations, observing that, only when considering the morphological separation between ET and LT galaxies, a mild classical behaviour is obtained. RXJ1257+4738 is a young galaxy cluster, showing a clumpy structure and being still in the process of formation, which could explain the lack of some of the standard morphological relations. This makes this cluster a very attractive case for obtaining the higher resolution data and for studying in more details the morphological properties of the entire cluster and relation with the environment., Comment: 19 pages, 20 figures. We propose a new $SU(6)\otimes U(1)_{X}$ GUT model free from anomalies, with a 750 GeV scalar candidate which can decay into two photons, compatible with the recent diphoton signal reported by ATLAS and CMS collaborations. This model gives masses to all fermions and may explain the 750GeV signal through one loop decays to $\gamma\gamma$ with charged vector and charged Higgs bosons, as well as up- and electron-like exotic particles that arise naturally from the condition of cancellation of anomalies of the $SU(6)\otimes U(1)_{X}$ group. In the context of a nonuniversal and anomaly free $U(1)_{X}$ extension of the standard model, we examine the decay of a $750$GeV scalar singlet state, $\xi_{\chi}$, as a possible explanation of the observed diphoton excess announced by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at CERN-LHC collider. One-loop decay to photons is allowed through three heavy singlet quarks and one charged Higgs boson into the loop. We obtain, for different width approximations and for masses of the exotic singlet quarks in the region $[900,\,3000]$ GeV, a production cross section $\sigma(pp\to\xi_{\chi}\to\gamma\gamma)$ compatible with ATLAS and CMS collaborations data. We also include another scalar singlet, $\sigma$, as a dark matter candidate that may couple with the 750 GeV scalar at tree level with production cross sections in agreement with ATLAS and CMS., Comment: 5 figures, discussion extended, 2 new figures

We explore mechanisms of interferences under which the spin-independent interaction in the scattering of scalar dark matter with nucleus is suppressed. We offer a detailed derivation of the nuclear amplitudes based on the interactions with quarks in the framework of a nonuniversal $U(1)'$ extension of the standard model. By assuming a range of parameters compatible with collider searches, electroweak observables and dark matter abundance, we find scenarios for destructive interferences with and without isospin symmetry. The model reveals solutions with mutually interfering scalar particles, canceling the effective spin-independent coupling with only scalar interactions, which requires an extra Higgs boson with mass $M_{H}>125$ GeV. The model also possesses scenarios with only vector interactions through two neutral gauge bosons, $Z$ and $Z'$. Due to the nonuniversality of the $U(1)'$ symmetry, we distinguish two family structures of the quark sector with different numerical predictions. In one case, we obtain cross sections that pass all the Xenon-based detector experiments. In the other case, limits from LUX experiment enclose an exclusion region for dark matter between $9$ and $800$ GeV. We examine a third scenario with isospin-violating couplings where interferences between scalar and vector boson exchanges cancel the scattering. We provide solutions where interactions with Xenon-based detectors is suppressed for light dark matter, below $6$ GeV, while interactions with Germanium- and Silicon-based detectors exhibit solutions up to the regions of interest for positive signals reported by CoGeNT and CDMS-Si experiments, and compatible with the observed DM relic density for DM mass in the range $8.3-10$ GeV. We present a model based on the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ gauge symmetry having an extra $T_{7}\otimes Z_{2}\otimes Z_{3}\otimes Z_{14} $ flavor group, which successfully describes the observed SM fermion mass and mixing pattern. In this framework, the light active neutrino masses arise via double seesaw mechanism and the observed charged fermion mass and quark mixing hierarchy is a consequence of the $Z_{2}\otimes Z_{3}\otimes Z_{14}$ symmetry breaking at very high energy. In our minimal $T_{7}$ flavor 331 model, the spectrum of neutrinos includes very light active neutrinos as well as heavy and very heavy sterile neutrinos. The obtained physical observables for both quark and lepton sectors are compatible with their experimental values. We provide a concise overview on transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions, their application to topical issues in high-energy physics phenomenology, and their theoretical connections with QCD resummation, evolution and factorization theorems. We illustrate the use of TMDs via examples of multi-scale problems in hadronic collisions. These include transverse momentum q_T spectra of Higgs and vector bosons for low q_T, and azimuthal correlations in the production of multiple jets associated with heavy bosons at large jet masses. We discuss computational tools for TMDs, and present an application of a new tool, TMDlib, to parton density fits and parameterizations., Comment: 20 pages

In this work we study the anomalous top quark-gluon couplings Chromoelectric Dipole Moment (CEDM) and Chromomagnetic Dipole Moment (CMDM) in a general THDM with CP violation. We find that this model provides an important contribution from the $Y_{tt}$ Yukawa coupling that needs to be taken into account. The CMDM and CEDM obtained are $-0.03<\Delta\tilde{k} < 0.005}$ and $|\Delta \tilde{d}| < 0.005$, respectively., Comment: 9 Pages, 2 tables, 4 figures

We propose a predictive model based on the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ gauge group supplemented by the $A_{4}\otimes Z_{3}\otimes Z_{4}\otimes Z_{6}\otimes Z_{16}$ discrete group, which successfully describes the SM fermion mass and mixing pattern. The small active neutrino masses are generated via inverse seesaw mechanism with three very light Majorana neutrinos. The observed charged fermion mass hierarchy and quark mixing pattern are originated from the breaking of the $Z_{4}\otimes Z_{6}\otimes Z_{16}$ discrete group at very high scale. The obtained values for the physical observables for both quark and lepton sectors are in excellent agreement with the experimental data. The model predicts a vanishing leptonic Dirac CP violating phase as well as an effective Majorana neutrino mass parameter of neutrinoless double beta decay, with values $m_{\beta \beta }=$ 2 and 48 meV for the normal and the inverted neutrino mass hierarchies, respectively., Comment: 20 pages. In the context of an nonuniversal $U(1)'$ extension of the standard model free from anomalies, we introduce a complex scalar singlet candidate to be dark matter. In addition, an extra scalar doublet and a heavy scalar singlet are required to provide masses to all fermions and to break spontaneously the symmetries. From unitarity and stability of the Higgs potential, we find the full set of bounds and order relations for the scalar coupling constants. Using recent data from the CERN-LHC collider, we study the signal strenght of the diphoton Higgs decay $R_{\gamma \gamma}$, which imposes very stringent bounds to the scalar couplings and other scalar parameters. We obtain constraints in different scenarios of the space of parameters, where decays into dark matter may or may not contribute according to the mass of the scalar dark matter candidate. By assuming that the lightest scalar boson of the model corresponds to the observed Higgs boson, we evaluate deviations from the SM of the trilineal Higgs self-coupling. The conditions from unitarity, stability and Higgs diphoton decay data allow trilineal deviations in the range $0 \leq \delta g \lesssim -72\%$., Comment: Additional figures and analysis in new version

In this work we compute all contributions to the muon magnetic moment stemming from several 3-3-1 models namely, minimal 331, 331 with right handed neutrinos, 331 with heavy neutral leptons, 331 with charged exotic leptons, 331 economical and 331 with two higgs triplets. Further, we exploit the complementarity among current electroweak, dark matter and collider constraints to outline the relevant parameter space of the models capable of explaining the anomaly. Lastly, assuming that the experimental anomaly has been otherwise resolved, we derive robust $1\sigma$ bounds using the current and projected measurements., Comment: 13 pages, 7 figures. In the framework of an nonuniversal $U(1)'$ extension of the standard model, we propose an scalar candidate for cold dark matter which exhibits interactions with ordinary matter through Higgs and gauge bosons. Using limits from low energy observables, we find constraints on the new physics parameters of the model associated to the extra abelian symmetry, in particular, the mass of the additional neutral gauge boson $Z'$ and the new gauge coupling constant. We found that for the lower experimental limit $M_{Z'}=3$ TeV constrained by direct research at LHC, the ratio between the $U(1)'$ and $SU(2)_L$ gauge coupling constants is around $0.4$. Taking into account this limit and the observable relic density of the Universe, we search for new constraints on the mass of the dark matter particle of the model. We found that for a higgsphobic model, the mass of the scalar dark matter must be $M_{\sigma}=70$ GeV. We also found different kinematical threshold and resonances that enhance the dispersion of dark matter into ordinary matter for different regions of the space of parameters of the model, obtaining masses as low as $1.3$ GeV and as large as $125$ GeV with not allowed intermediate regions due to resonances., Comment: 28 pages, 6 figures

We propose a model based on the gauge group $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ with an extra $S_{3}$ flavor symmetry, which accounts for the lepton masses and mixing. The small active neutrino masses are generated via a double seesaw mechanism. In this scenario, the spectrum of neutrinos presents very light, light and very heavy masses. The model predicts a quasidegenerate normal hierarchy active neutrino mass spectrum and the relation $\Delta m_{21}^{2}\ll \Delta m_{31}^{2}$ arises from effective six-dimensional operators. The obtained neutrino mixing parameters are in agreement with the neutrino oscillation experimental data. We study the decay $t\rightarrow c\gamma$ with flavor-changing neutral interactions in scalar sector of the type III Two Higgs Doublet Model (THDM-III) with mixing between neutral scalar fields as a result of considering the most general scalar potential. The branching ratio of the decay $Br(t\rightarrow c\gamma)$ is calculated as function of the mixing parameters and masses of the neutral scalar fields. We obtain a $Br(t\rightarrow c\gamma)$ of the order of $10^{-8}$ for the considered regions of the mixing parameters. Finally, one upper bound for the possible events is estimated to be $n=18$ by assuming a expected luminosity of the order of 300 $fb^{-1}$., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1312.0044

In the framework of general 3-3-1 models, we perform a global $\chi ^2$ fit at $95\%$ C.L. to the updated Z pole observables, including new data from atomic parity violation. We found scenarios where specific realizations of 3-3-1 models are largely excluded above the current limit on the extra neutral gauge boson ($Z'$) research at LHC. We derive a relation between the $Z-Z'$ mixing angle and the parameter $\tan(\beta)$ of the effective Two-Higgs-Doublet Model contained into the 3-3-1 spectrum. We show that particular versions of 3-3-1 models containing particles with exotic electric charges are disfavored by the electroweak precision observables in an ample region of the parameter space., Comment: 3 figures, 4 tables.
