It is known that most of the electrical cables use as insulation compositions based on polyvinyl chloride. Like most polymers, the latter is quite sensitive to thermal aging, which is not without reason, to be one of the main causes of the various types of faults in the polymeric insulation, leading eventually to a short circuit and fire. On the example of the most common polymer insulator-PVC subjected to preliminary partial thermolysis, simulating the process of accelerated aging, we for the first time show that in this case as a result of the aging process, the electrical conductivity of PVC can acquire abnormal (not obeying Ohm's law) character. In this case, transitions from a state with normal (low) conductivity of PVC into the state with an ab-normally high conductivity was clearly observed, being spontaneous uncontrollable process. Es-pecially the large-scale nature of these changes allowing easily transferring polyvinylchloride from a state of typical dielectric (insulator) in a class of conductors attracts attention.). Thus, an-other one of the most important features of a short circuit in the PVC insulation is opened. It is noted that the reduction of fire hazards in this case (by the maximum possible elimination of the phenomenon of short circuit due to thermal aging of polymeric insulation) should be preventive in nature, as the most effective, simple and convenient way., Comment: 8p, 3 fig

Manifestations of anomalous conductivity in polar dielectric films is demonstrated for the first time on samples of copolymer of vinylene and vinyl chloride, as was previously observed on modified PVC samples. On the base of these experimental results important new insights into the physical sense of traditionally used in these conditions specific resistivity indicators, both volume and surface, should be replaced by transverse and longitudinal resistance (according to polymer film surface) respectively, because the specific resistivity of polymer composite does not permits to calculate as usual the resistance of sample of arbitrary form.., Comment: 5 pages, in russion, 1 table

In present paper we develop the description of massless fields on the basis of space-time algebra of sixteen-component sedeons. The generalized sedeonic second-order equation for unified gravitoelectromagnetic (GE) field describing simultaneously gravity and electromagnetism is proposed. The second-order relations for the GE field energy, momentum and Lorentz invariants are derived. We consider also the generalized sedeonic first-order equation for the massless neutrino field. The second-order relations for the neutrino potentials analogues to the Pointing theorem and Lorentz invariant relations in gravitoelectromagnetism are also derived., Comment: 18 pages

A detailed experimental and simulation study of the extraction of a 24 keV He-ion beam from an ECR ion source and the subsequent beam transport through an analyzing magnet is presented. We find that such a slow ion beam is very sensitive to space-charge forces, but also that the neutralization of the beam's space charge by secondary electrons is virtually complete for beam currents up to at least 0.5 mA. The beam emittance directly behind the extraction system is 65 pi mm mrad and is determined by the fact that the ion beam is extracted in the strong magnetic fringe field of the ion source. The relatively large emittance of the beam and its non-paraxiality lead, in combination with a relatively small magnet gap, to significant beam losses and a five-fold increase of the effective beam emittance during its transport through the analyzing magnet. The calculated beam profile and phase-space distributions in the image plane of the analyzing magnet agree well with measurements. The kinematic and magnet aberrations have been studied using the calculated second-order transfer map of the analyzing magnet, with which we can reproduce the phase-space distributions of the ion beam behind the analyzing magnet. Using the transfer map and trajectory calculations we have worked out an aberration compensation scheme based on the addition of compensating hexapole components to the main dipole field by modifying the shape of the poles. The simulations predict that by compensating the kinematic and geometric aberrations in this way and enlarging the pole gap the overall beam transport efficiency can be increased from 16 to 45%.

Annotation A carbon nanotubes (CNT) filled polymer nanocomposites with their unique physical, mechanical and electro-optical properties has repeatedly discussed in the literature. The main part of this problem is to obtain high quality dispersion of CNTs. If for water-soluble polymers this problem can be considered as solved, it is not so for hydrophobic polymers, and PVC is an important example of this kind. This paper describes the methods of dispersion of SWNTs bundles in PVC, both by the use of specially synthesized surfactants, and by means of chemical surface modification of CNTs. The main criterion for an obtaining of a high degree of dispersion in our experiments is considered the sedimentation stability of non-aqueous organic colloidal solutions, which is essentially necessary for the polymer composites films preparation by solution casting method., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, SWCNT - PVC nanocomposite

We represent the results of micromagnetic modeling and experimental magnetic force microscopy investigations of domain wall (DW) pinning-depinning effects in the hybrid systems consisting of ferromagnetic nanowire (NW) and two ferromagnetic nanoparticles (NPs). It was demonstrated that the special NW-NPs configuration including the NW with DW nucleating bulb at one end and two-NP gate enables the realization of controlled DW pinning-depinning based on switching of magnetization in NPs subsystem. The algorithm of external driving field manipulation and independent NPs switching, which allow one to develop a new type of magnetic logic cells, is proposed., Comment: 9 pages, 11 figures

We report on results of computer micromodelling of anti-vortex states in asymmetrical cross-like ferromagnetic nanostructures and their practical realization. The arrays of cobalt crosses with 1 mkm branches, 100 nm widths of the branches and 40 nm thicknesses were fabricated using e-beam lithography and ion etching. Each branch of the cross was tapered at one end and bulbous at the other. The stable formation of anti-vortex magnetic states in these nanostructures during magnetization reversal was demonstrated experimentally using magnetic force microscopy., Comment: 19 pages, 9 figures

The ion production in an ECRIS is modelled using a particle-in-cell Monte-Carlo collision code in a three-dimensional geometry. Only the heavy particles (ions and atoms) are tracked, with the electron density determined from the requirement of quasi-neutrality, and the electron temperature is a free parameter. The electric fields in the plasma are assumed to be negligibly small, and the ion confinement due to a "potential dip" is neglected. It is found that experimentally observed features of ECRIS plasma are closely reproduced by the code, including the charge-state-distributions of extracted ion beams and sputtering patterns inside the source. The isotope anomaly is observed for the mixture of 20Ne + 22Ne isotopes, and some explanation for the effect is given. Possible connection between the wall-coating effect and parameters of the fast atoms created in collisions of the ions with the walls is discussed., Comment: 29 pages, 13 figures

In this paper we represent the generalization of relativistic quantum mechanics on the base of eght-component values "octons", generating associative noncommutative spatial algebra. It is shown that the octonic second-order equation for the eight-component octonic wave function, obtained from the Einshtein relation for energy and momentum, describes particles with spin of 1/2. It is established that the octonic wave function of a particle in the state with defined spin projection has the specific spatial structure in the form of octonic oscillator with two spatial polarizations: longitudinal linear and transversal circular. The relations between bispinor and octonic descriptions of relativistic particles are established. We propose the eight-component spinors, which are octonic generalisation of two-component Pauli spinors and four-component Dirac bispinors. It is shown that proposed eight-component spinors separate the states with different spin projection, different particle-antiparticle state as well as different polarization of the octonic oscillator. We demonstrate that in the frames of octonic relativistic quantum mechanics the second-order equation for octonic wave function can be reformulated in the form of the system of first-order equations for quantum fields, which is analogous to the system of Maxwell equations for the electromagnetic field. It is established that for the special type of wave functions the second-order equation can be reduced to the single first-order equation, which is analogous to the Dirac equation. We demonstrate the existence of a helical state in patterned multilayer nanomagnets. The artificial helimagnets consist of a stack of single domain ferromagnetic disks separated by insulating nonmagnetic spacers. The spiral state is shown to originate from the magnetostatic interaction between nearest and next nearest neighbouring single-domain disks in the stack. Since the magnetostatic interaction for such disks is rather strong, the helical state should be stable at room temperature. The helimagnets were fabricated from a [Co/Si]*3 multilayer using electron beam lithography. Two dedicated experiments on internal pair conversion (IPC) of isoscalar M1 transitions were carried out in order to test a 9 MeV/c2 X-boson scenario. In the 7Li(p,e+e-)8Be reaction at 1.1 MeV proton energy to the predominantly T=0 level at 18.15 MeV, a significant deviation from IPC was observed at large pair correlation angles. In the 11B(d,n e+e-)12C reaction at 1.6 MeV, leading to the 12.71 MeV 1+ level with pure T=0 character, an anomaly was observed at 9 MeV/c2. We discuss the possibility to suppress the collapse in the nonlinear 2+1 D Schr\"odinger equation by using the gauge theory of strong phase correlations. It is shown that invariance relative to $q$-deformed Hopf algebra with deformation parameter $q$ being the fourth root of unity makes the values of the Chern-Simons term coefficient, $k=2$, and of the coupling constant, $g=1/2$, fixed; no collapsing solutions are present at those values.
