In 2009, Preskill and Brookfield published "Learning as a Way of Leading: Lessons from the Struggle for Social Justice" that describes nine learning tasks characterizing organic leaders. These include being open to the contributions of others, critical reflection, supporting the growth of others, collective leadership, analyzing experience, questioning, democracy, sustaining hope in the face of struggle, and creating community. This research study connects the life experiences of selected Indiana Women of Achievement awardees to the leadership model but also shares characteristics that do not align with the model. This study highlights issues of how women's leadership, social change, and transformation are manifested throughout their life journeys. We present examples of the model through 18 stories: two women for each of the nine characteristics. Other themes also emerged, including strong connections to their families, determination, perseverance, and achievement of goals.

This article shares examples of how leadership opportunities, self-directedness, self-efficacy and self-determination developed in professional women who have been recognised as leaders. This study presents six women honoured as "Women of Achievement." Through narrative interviews, each woman described aspects of her life that guided decision-making and her approach to various life situations. Using the narrative examples provided, one may be able to see themes or strategies for working with other learners to enhance their own leadership. Findings included: growth and development as leaders within their own environments and through interactions with people who mentored or influenced them; openness to opportunities presented to them; the effect that time, place and culture contributed to the goals and tasks that these women undertook. While they were bound by social constraints concerning gender, race and class, each found a way to adapt within those environments and make changes for the better through their contributions. Consistently, these women realised their actions made a difference. Implications for further research include: enhancing self-directedness, self-efficacy and self-determination in women; expanding the definition of leadership; and understanding the motivation for engaging in leadership opportunities. Through this and other research, we seek to expand women's roles and participation as leaders.

Interorganizational collaboration allows community organizations to work together to achieve common goals without duplicating services. Collaboration creates challenges when working with organizations from different sectors, but it can be achieved even if it is for a limited time. In this paper, we examine a case study conducted with collaborative partners from a private communications company, a small nonprofit organization, and a public/academic institution. In the findings, we offer ten themes for beginning the collaborative process, to better ensure its success to the end of the project and perhaps beyond. Through conclusions, we recommend strategies based on the case study and supported by the literature.

The aim of the current research was to identify which, if any, personality traits are related to recognition in an eyewitness task. A correlational design was used with the co-variables being personality traits and correct (false) recognition. Eighty participants viewed a video clip, which showed a female being robbed. Participants completed a personality inventory. They were then supplied with misinformation, and finally completed a memory recognition task relating to the video clip. Spearman's correlations were run identifying Openness as the only personality trait to be significantly associated with correct recognition scores. No predictor variables were found. The University of North Florida (UNF) transitioned to Canvas as its Learning Management System (LMS) in summer 2017. This implementation brought on opportunities that allowed for a more user-friendly learning environment for students. Working with students in courses which were in-person, hybrid, or online, brought about the need for the library to have a place in the Canvas LMS. Students needed to remember how to access and locate library resources and services outside of Canvas. During this time, the Thomas G. Carpenter Library's online presence was enhanced, yet still not visible in Canvas. It became apparent that the library needed to be integrated into Canvas courses. This would enable students to easily transition between their coursework and finding resources and services to support their studies. In addition, librarians who worked with students, looked for ways for students to easily find library resources and services online.
