Objective: To evaluate the level of sperm DNA fragmentation and its association with semen parameters. Material and methods: this cross-sectional study recruited 289 semen samples from the husband of infertile couples who were examined at the Center for Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Evaluated values include semen parameters, sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI). Results: The mean of DFI was 28.37 ± 20.38 (4 - 91)%, the rate of DFI < 30% group was 64.0% and DFI ≥ 30% was 36.0%: Progressive motility in DFI

Objectives: (1) To describe sperm kinetics in semen samples in infertile couples; (2) Evaluation of the factors related to sperm kinetics. Subjects and methods: Descriptive study cross-sectional 50 semen samples in the husband of the infertile couple. Sperm motility and kinetics were evaluated using computer‐aided sperm analysis Hamilton Thorne IVOS II. Results: The mean values ​​of VCL, VSL, VAP, ALH in the normal morphological group were higher than in the abnormal morphology group (p < 0.05). There were the positive correlations between VCL (r = 0.373, p = 0.008), VSL (r = 0.343, p = 0.015), VAP (r = 0.381, p = 0.006), ALH (r = 0.311, p = 0.028) with normal sperm morphology; and negative correlation between VCL (r = -0.286, p = 0.044) with head abnormality. The normal morphological in the group with drinking alcohol was lower than in the group that did not drink, (p = 0.027). The neck-tail abnormality in the drinking group was higher than in the non-drinking group (p = 0.124); The neck-tail abnormality in the smoker group was higher than in the non-smoker group (p = 0.001). Sperm kinetics parameters (VCL, VSL, VAP, ALH, LIN, STR) recorded lower than in the drinking and smoker group, (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Motility and kinetics are related to sperm morphology. Sperm kinetics combines semen parameters to evaluate male fertility more totally. Key words: sperm, semen parameters, sperm kinetics, computer‐aided sperm analysis

Umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells have been determined to be effective in cell therapy and regenerative medicine. Cell cryopreservation is widely used for long term preservation. However, cell cryopreservation is costly and labor consume. Therefore, cryopreservation of human umbilical cord (HUC) tissue has become an alternative solution to reduce the risks of disease and open up opportunities for later treatment for families in recent years. In this study, we evaluated the ability to isolate and the characteristic of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from fresh and frozen human umbilical cord tissue. The results showed that the HUCMSCs were isolated successfully from both fresh and frozen HUC tissues. The expression of MSCs cell surface marker CD73, CD90, CD105 in group 1 were higher than those in group 2, CD73 (99,42 vs 95.2%); CD90 (99.74 vs 96.6%); CD105 (99.64 vs 96.15%), respectively. However, they are similar in morphology and osteogenic and adipose differentiated ability. The results of the study would be useful for stem cell research, cell therapy and regenerative medicine.

In the current era, the amount of information from the Internet in general and the electronic press in particular has increased rapidly and has extremely useful information value in all aspects of life, many popular users have posted several high-quality writings as casual blogs, notes or reviews. Some of them are even selected by editors to be published in professional venues. However, the original posts often come without titles, which are needed to be manually added by the editing teams. This task would be done automatically, with the recent advancement of AI techniques, especially deep learning. Even though auto-title can be considered as a specific case of text summarization, this job poses some major different requirements. Basically, a title is generally short but it needs to capture major content while still maintaining the writing style of the original document. To fulfill those constraints, we introduce PGN-LM Model, an architecture evolved from the Pointer Generator Network, with the ability to solve Out-of-Vocabulary problems that traditional Seq2Seq models cannot handle, and at the same time combined with language modeling techniques. In addition, we also introduce a model called Forcing-Seq2Seq Model, an enhanced Seq2Seq architecture, in which the classical TF-IDF scores are incorporated with Named Entity Recognition method to identify the major keywords of the original texts. To enforce the appearance of those keywords in the generated titles, the specific Teacher Forcing mechanism combined with the language model technique are employed. We have tested our approaches with real datasets and obtained promising initial results, on both metrics of machine and human perspectives.

In pigs, embryo productivity is still lower than that in other livestocks. One of the reasons is incomplete maturation of porcine oocytes in in vitro conditions. Therefore in vitro maturation (IVM) plays a crucial role in in vitro production of porcine embryos. It provides prerequisite condition to in fertilization and subsequent development of porcine embryos. In a previous study, effects of NCSU-37-based medium and TCM-199-based media supplemented with porcine follicular fluid (pFF) or Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) on in vitro maturation of Landrace oocytes collected in Vietnam have been compared, suggesting that NCSU-37 medium supplemented with 10% of porcine follicular fluid (pFF) had the highest rate of oocytes reach to metaphase II stage in comparison to those of the other two TCM-199-based media. In the present study, further experiments were carried out to evaluate the contribution of IVM media on fertilization capability and developmental competence. Porcine oocytes matured in vitro in 3 media: NCSU-37 supplemented with 10% pFF, TCM-199 supplemented with either 10% pFF or 10% FBS were subjected to in vitro fertilization and subsequent in vitro culture to monitor fertility and embryo development. The results showed that penetration and normal fertilization rates in both TCM-199 groups are both higher than that of NCSU-37 group. Moreover, the cleavage and blastocyst rates, and cell numbers of blastocysts which is a criterion for embryo quality were all higher in TCM-199 groups, especially in the group supplemented with pFF. It might be concluded that TCM-199 media supplemented with either pFF or FBS are suitable for effective in vitro maturation of Landrace porcine oocytes collected in Vietnam.

Objective: Rickettsioses remains one of the most common infectious diseases in Vietnam, the atypical disease’s manifestation often leads to misdiagnosis with other diseases and results in a delayed proper treatment. The study aimed to characterise the clinical and laboratory features of rickettsioses. Subject and method: This was a retrospective cohort study. The clinical and sub-clinical features of rickettsioses were described. All patients admitted to the 108 Military Central Hospital, Hanoi from May 2020 to September 2021. Result: There were 22 patients enrolled into the study and 15/22 (68.2%) hospitalised 5 days after fever onset. The most common clinical features were abrupt fever (100%), headache (100%), myalgia (100%), and skin hyperemia (100%). Some rare signs were recorded: Eschars (9.1%), lymphadenopathy (0%), and rash (4.8%). The laboratory findings showed 95% of the patients with elevated liver transaminases and 51.1% cases with thrombocytopenia. All of the patients were treated with doxycycline and 100% (22/22) fully recovered. The defervescence time was 74.9 ± 38.6 hours and the hospitalisation time was 7.1 ± 1.4 days. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that the appearance of longer than five days fever, severe headache, thrombocytopenia, and elevated liver transaminase could suggest a diagnosis of rickettsioses.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted a great amount of attention due to their unique properties, including high porosity, large surface area, and flexible frameworks. These special properties are desirable in many applications such as adsorption, catalysis, drug delivery, and gas storage. Herein, Al-fumarate MOFs were synthesised from the reaction of aluminium sulphate with fumaric acid at 65 °C for 1 h. X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2-adsorption, scanning electronic microscope (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and UV–vis spectrometer were used to characterise the physicochemical properties of the prepared adsorbent materials. The obtained results indicated that the Al-fumarate MOFs possess good water stability and can adsorb/remove over 70% of Rose Bengal under UV–light irradiation. Gas adsorption/storage experiments revealed that Al-fumarate MOFs also exhibited high CO2 and CH4 uptakes of ∼59 cm3 g−1 and 17 cm3 g−1 at 303 K and ∼805 Torr (∼1 bar), respectively. The synthesised Al-fumarate MOFs obtained both excellent photocatalytic activity and high gas adsorption/storage that are due to the large surface area (∼1100 m2 g)−1 and high porosity (0.65 cm3 g)−1. Thus, these Al-fumarate MOFs are very promising in the fields of photocatalysis for wastewater treatment and of gas adsorption/storage.

This is a preliminary study of a material comprising gelatin (Gel), silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and curcumin (Cur) aimed for wound-healing treatment. Gelatin was used to stabilize AgNPs and encapsulate curcumin to form a therapeutic composite (GelCurAg) for their strong bactericidal and antioxidant properties. GelCurAg formulations with different gelatin concentrations were characterized to attain information about their physiochemical properties and the loading efficiency of therapeutic agents. In vitro assessment of GelCurAg focused on antibacterial, antioxidant and cytotoxic aspects. The results suggested that Gel1CurAg (synthesized from 1% gelatin solution) could be utilized as potential therapeutic agents in treating infectious wound owing to its bactericidal and antioxidant effects and low toxicity for clinical uses., GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

Titanium (Ti) abutment is a supporting structure of dental implant which anchors and provides retention for fixed or removable tooth restoration. However, bio-inert property of Ti leaves the soft tissue to detach from the abutment, partly leading to implant failure. Meanwhile previous studies have mainly focused on enhancing the osseointegration of Ti implant, the dislocation and imbalance of dental implant still occur since the connective tissue defect at the abutment. This study aimed to investigate the interaction between fibroblast and the modified Ti in which type 1 collagen (Col-1) was modified on Ti surface. Ti/Col-1 modification was performed by electrochemical deposition (ECD) based on the polyelectrolyte property of Col-1 and conductivity of Ti under electric field. Parameters optimized for ECD were investigated including Col-1 concentration, pH of electrolyte, and deposition potential. Fibroblast's cell adhesion/spreading, and cell viability/proliferation assays were analyzed between the coated Ti/Col-1 with optimized ECD conditions and uncoated Ti. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) observation indicated that Col-1 was modified successfully on Ti while fibroblast cell adhered and proliferated well in Ti/Col-1 compared with the uncoated Ti. This study suggested the influence of Col-1 modification on the attachment of fibroblast cells around the Ti abutment.
