Abstract

This paper is concerned with the existence and global exponential stability of the periodic solution of delayed Cohen–Grossberg neural networks (CGNNs) with discontinuous activation functions. The activations considered herein are non-decreasing but not required to be Lipschitz or continuous. Based on differential inclusion theory, Lyapunov functional theory and Leary–Schauder alternative theorem, some sufficient criteria are derived to ensure the existence and global exponential stability of the periodic solution. In order to show the superiority of the obtained results, an application and some detailed comparisons between some existing related results and our results are presented. Abstract

A novel type of circulating fluidized bed operating below the particle terminal velocity known as conventional circulating fluidized bed (CCFB) was proposed and tested for the first time in this study. The experiments were carried out in a liquid-solid circulating fluidized bed system, where both liquid and solid flew upwards in the riser and solids exiting the top of the riser were separated from liquid and then returned to the bottom of the riser via an accompanying downer. The system was essentially operated in the conventional fluidization regime but with continuously feeding of particles into riser bottom and particles moving up the riser to achieve solids circulation or circulating fluidization. The hydrodynamic of the CCFB was investigated at various operating conditions with two types of particles. The solids holdup of the conventional circulating fluidization was clearly higher when compared to conventional fluidization. Particles with a higher terminal velocity have higher solids holdup.

Abstract

The thermoelectric properties of the bistable resistance states in Nb doped SrTiO3 single crystal have been investigated. The Seebeck coefficients for both low and high resistance states change linearly with temperature. The three-terminals contrast measurement demonstrates that a large fraction of the voltage drop is applied at the tiny volume near the bottom interface between the electrode and the oxide bulk. Therefore, the metallic oxide bulk plays a dominant role in the temperature dependence of Seebeck coefficients. The thermoelectric properties of new resistance switching (RS) devices with minimized non-RS volume could be exploited for the RS mechanism and novel applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In this study, we prepared a hierarchical structured coating via a versatile two-step approach for the protection of 6N01 aluminum alloy. On the basis of as-prepared secondary alkane sulphonate (SAS) modified Li Al LDHs conversion coating (SLDH) by in-situ synthesis method, ammonium heptamolybdate (AHM) was introduced in the post-treatment to fabricate AHM@SLDH with enhanced corrosion resistance. The surface morphology, chemical composition and corrosion performance are characterized by means of scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), etc. The hybrid coating has a persistence corrosion resistance in 3.5 wt% NaCl aqueous solution with protective efficiency of 99.64 %. As a highlight, a self-repairing function is detected in the immersion test, which is attributed to the weak oxidation function of Mo (VI). We believe that AHM@SLDH in-situ grown on aluminum substrate can provide a promising route for its corrosion prevention. • Conversion coating (AHM@SLDH) is in-situ prepared by a facile way under a moderate condition. • AHM derived composites are successfully anchored onto SLDH surface with flat and compact micro-morphology. • AHM@SLDH has superior corrosion performance and excellent anti-pitting property. • Film-forming and anti-corrosion mechanism is discussed with chemical reactions proposed. Abstract

The literature has established accumulated evidence on the negative consequences of social media anonymity on behaviors online (e.g., cyber-aggression). Yet the potential benefits of social media anonymity have been largely overlooked, especially when it comes to prosociality. In four studies, we examined the facilitating effect of perceived social media anonymity on online moral courage. We first tested and confirmed the relation of perceived social media anonymity to online moral courage in a correlational study (Study 1) and an experimental study (Study 2). We then tested and revealed the mediating role of perceived risk and the moderating role of moral meaningfulness in the relation between perceived anonymity and moral courage (Study 3). We further used social media behavioral data to examine the association between social media anonymity and moral courage in an ecologically valid context (Study 4). Our findings enrich the research of moral psychology and social media studies by providing the first experimental evidence for the prosocial effect of social media anonymity. They further have important implications for website interface design, social activism, as well as intervention programs to promote constructive civil engagement online. • Social media anonymity fosters moral courage online. • Social media anonymity reduces the perceived risk of adverse consequences for taking moral actions. • Social media anonymity is particularly inferential to individuals with lower moral meaningfulness to exercise moral courage online.
