The present research is the implementation of the 2013 doctoral disertation report funded by DIKTI. The research is a part of IPTEKS scheme for community devotion that have strong relation to language education technology. It concern with the use of multimedia learning and vocabulary mastery on students’ Japanese language reading skills at SMK 1 Purwokerto. The method is implemented experimentally by giving multimedia learning treatment such as Rosetta Stone and Tell Me More Japanese. Through some presentation with the use of those multimedia learning material, the purpose of this research is to know the extent to which the level of their vocabulary mastery and to encourage students in order to have an approriate skill to read Japanese documents. With the implementation of this multimedia learning training, graduate students of SMK Negeri I Purwokerto will be increased and for the future they have a good job at Japanese companies in Indonesia

An innovative procedure for the selective recovery of lanthanides using (NH4)2SO4 from hydrous oxide cake produced after the alkali breakdown of monazite mineral concentrate was proposed. By applying this procedure, 94.6% of the rare earth elements (REEs) content would be dissolved. In this context, partial precipitation of light rare earth elements (LREEs) as their double sulfate took place. To separate uranium completely from thorium and the remaining REEs (5.4%) from hydrous oxide cake, an alkaline leaching procedure has been carried out by using a mixture of 1/3 (Na2CO3/NaHCO3) solution. Finally, the remaining hydrous oxide cake was then dissolved in 4M HCl to separate either Th or REEs contents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The lecture deals with the issues of metaphorical transfer. It defines translation as an interlanguage or, metaphorically speaking, as occupying the position of the demotic text on the Rosetta Stone. It proves with examples of metaphors' translation into different languages that any denial, deviation or distortion of the metaphorical transfer is a symptom of the qualitative impoverishment of the target text in comparison to the source text. Brain-imaging research has predominantly generated insight by means of classical statistics, including regression-type analyses and null-hypothesis testing using t-test and ANOVA. Throughout recent years, statistical learning methods enjoy increasing popularity especially for applications in rich and complex data, including cross-validated out-of-sample prediction using pattern classification and sparsity-inducing regression. This concept paper discusses the implications of inferential justifications and algorithmic methodologies in common data analysis scenarios in neuroimaging. It is retraced how classical statistics and statistical learning originated from different historical contexts, build on different theoretical foundations, make different assumptions and evaluate different outcome metrics to permit differently nuanced conclusions. The present considerations should help reduce current confusion between model-driven classical hypothesis testing and data-driven learning algorithms for investigating the brain with imaging techniques. We present the analysis of 29.77 d of K2 space photometry of the well-detached massive 4.6 d O+B binary HD 165246 (V = 7.6) obtained during Campaign 9b. This analysis reveals intrinsic variability in the residual light curve after subtraction of the binary model, in the frequency range [0, 10] d-1. This makes HD 165246 only the second O+B eclipsing binary with asteroseismic potential. While some of the frequencies are connected with the rotation of the primary, others are interpreted as due to oscillations with periodicities of order days. The frequency resolution of the current data set does not allow us to distinguish between frequencies due to standing coherent oscillation modes or travelling waves. Future timeresolved high-precision spectroscopy covering several binary orbits will reveal whether HD 165246 is a Rosetta stone for synergistic binary and seismic modelling of an O-type star. Pedotransfer functions (PTFs) have been widely used to predict soil hydraulic parameters in favor of expensive laboratory or field measurements. Rosetta (Schaap et al., 2001, denoted as Rosetta1) is one of many PTFs and is based on artificial neural network (ANN) analysis coupled with the bootstrap re-sampling method which allows the estimation of van Genuchten water retention parameters (van Genuchten, 1980, abbreviated here as VG), saturated hydraulic conductivity ( K s ), and their uncertainties. In this study, we present an improved set of hierarchical pedotransfer functions (Rosetta3) that unify the water retention and K s submodels into one. Parameter uncertainty of the fit of the VG curve to the original retention data is used in the ANN calibration procedure to reduce bias of parameters predicted by the new PTF. One thousand bootstrap replicas were used to calibrate the new models compared to 60 or 100 in Rosetta1, thus allowing the uni-variate and bi-variate probability distributions of predicted parameters to be quantified in greater detail. We determined the optimal weights for VG parameters and K s , the optimal number of hidden nodes in ANN, and the number of bootstrap replicas required for statistically stable estimates. Results show that matric potential-dependent bias was reduced significantly while root mean square error ( RMSE ) for water content were reduced modestly; RMSE for K s was increased by 0.9% (H3 w ) to 3.3% (H5 w ) in the new models on log scale of K s compared with the Rosetta1 model. It was found that estimated distributions of parameters were mildly non-Gaussian and could instead be described rather well with heavy-tailed α-stable distributions. On the other hand, arithmetic means had only a small estimation bias for most textures when compared with the mean-like “shift” parameter of the α-stable distributions. Arithmetic means and (co-)variances are therefore still recommended as summary statistics of the estimated distributions. However, it may be necessary to parameterize the distributions in different ways if the new estimates are used in stochastic analyses of vadose zone flow and transport. This paper reviews my personal inclinations and fascination with the area of unconventional computing. Computing can he perceived as an inscription in a "Rosetta Stone." a category akin to physics, and therefore as a form of comprehension of nature. I also address the question of why there is computation, and sketch a research program based on primordial chaos, out of which order and even self-referential perception emerges by way of evolution. Proteins, the main cell machinery which play a major role in nearly every cellular process, have always been a central focus in biology. We live in the post-genomic era, and inferring information from massive data sets is a steadily growing universal challenge. The increasing availability of fully sequenced genomes can be regarded as the ‘Rosetta Stone’ of the protein universe, allowing the understanding of genomes and their evolution, just as the original Rosetta Stone allowed Champollion to decipher the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. In this review, we consider aspects of the protein domain architectures repertoire that are closely related to those of human languages and aim to provide some insights about the language of proteins.
