The photo features the river, the near shore on the left-hand side, and the far shore and a railroad bridge crossing the river in the background of the shot. Piles of wood and a small worn path / road can be seen behind the trees. The path / road appears to have been used for vehicle-based transportation of materials. This is the site of the scow's construction, as seen in later photos.

The man with a light, narrow-brimmed hat is smiling and looking at the camera. The second man who wears a dark fedora, lowers his head, concentrating on brushing away debris with a small whisk broom. To the left is a tall square bucket and a burlap bag. Between the men lies a pickax. In front of the men on the ground is a knapsack. Handles of other tools are visible. On the right side of the ledge is a folded tarp and cloth bundle of some kind. The ledge and the slope of the outcrop take up most of the photo. They are covered with rocks and sage bush. In the upper left corner of the photo are outcrops in the distance. At the base of these outcrops is a tree line of deciduous trees.

This page is from George Sternberg's personal photo album. Four photos are on page 68 of the album. These photos are from George Sternberg's collection. All of the photographs on this page include a swelling river. George Sternberg's crew can be seen using poles to push away floating logs from the scow that they are riding on in three of the photos. All of the photos were taken during daylight hours on June 27th. (No year is provided.) The third photo is the only one on this page not to include the scow. Tall vegetation consisting of trees and bushes is present along the riverbank in every photograph on this page. In the first, second, and fourth photos, the number of logs seen floating in the water gradually increases. All four of these photographs on the page are in black and white.

A flagpole with a flag is located on board the scow behind the dinghy. A bucket stands next to the flagpole. A tree line on a riverbank is on the right side of the photo. A simple tent which seems to be made by white cloth shows in the photo behind the men and is on board the scow.

Sternberg and Levi Sternberg, stand on the scow, and one man, identified as Charlie (Mortram Sternberg), is driving the motorboat. The water has some ripples through it, but it is mostly calm. Behind the boats is a strip of land that is populated with trees.

This black-and-white photo shows a close-up of a mold of a large fossil. The mold reveals a vesicular texture, and three bigger vesicles. The overall shape of the mold is triangular. Underneath the dull, earthy mold, there is a ruler measuring the size of the mold. The mold is close to eight inches wide, according to the ruler placed underneath the mold. Stephanosaurus marginatus is a dubious genus of the hadrosaurid from the Late-Cretaceous period.

This page is from George Sternberg's personal photo album. This page contains a collection of four photos taken by George Sternberg, a noted paleontologist. These photos depict both close-up and distance shots of an outcrop, a river, and the foliage surrounding the river. Two of these photos are of the same rippling marks in a slab of rock that Sternberg and his team have uncovered. One of the pictures of the ripple marks is closer in view and from a different angle. These black-and-white shots each have a handwritten inscription from Sternberg detailing some of the objects and scenery in the photograph. Sternberg was joined in taking these photos by a team; they made camp on the riverbed while looking for fossils and exploring the quarry.

Ridges of the outcrop slope from the prairie in the background to the river in the foreground. The prairie is quite bare. Trees and shrubberies are visible in the distance. The river exists at the base of the huge outcrops. Some shrubbery and many rugged walls slope down to the river basin. The horizontal stratification of the outcrop is clearly presented in the photo.

Two black-and-white photos serve as a panorama that George Sternberg took showing some coulees that begin at prairie level. The prairie level is visible in part of the foreground. The coulees rise from there and create a stratified formation. Grass grows on the prairie level land and each flat area in the coulees, but the inclines of the coulees are rocky and bare.

Above the photos, Sternberg wrote an inscription that says, Euoplocephalus quarry no 27 1914.” In the left photograph, Sternberg has drawn an arrow toward his colleague who is seen running down the excavation site. To his left, some excavation tools are propped on a ledge. Plant life is minimal around the quarry but thickens farther back. The right photograph shows the same excavation site after the explosion. White smoke is escaping from the crevice seen in the quarry. Underneath both of these photos are inscriptions written by George Sternberg describing these events.
