The development of transversal competencies, in interaction with professional competencies, is essential for individuals to adapt to change and live meaningful and productive lives. The aim of this study was to explore the mutual interaction of six transversal competencies—civic, digital, entrepreneurial, global, innovation, and research, as well as their respective sub-competencies—and propose possible approaches to how this dynamic of interaction can be applied to facilitate the development of transversal competencies. A sample of students (N = 1575) from 21 universities in Latvia completed a self-assessment survey evaluating multiple behavioural indicators for each transversal competence and sub-competence. The results revealed that civic competence was evaluated significantly lower than other competencies, and, for most transversal competencies, sub-competencies associated with active and systematic collaboration and networking received lower evaluations. A network analysis showed that the community involvement sub-competence of the civic competence and the initiative and critical thinking sub-competencies of the innovation competence had the strongest links to the other measured sub-competencies on average. The results suggest that the development of initiative and cooperation-and-collaboration-related and network-building skills are likely to have a systematic positive effect on the development of a wider set of transversal competencies and the professional autonomy of students in the long term. BLENDED learning ,TEACHER development ,STUDENT teachers ,CAREER development ,TRANSVERSAL lines ,TEACHER training - Abstract
Blended teaching and learning, combining online and face-to-face instruction, and shared reflection are gaining in popularity worldwide and present evolving challenges in the field of teacher training and education. There is also a growing need to focus on transversal competencies such as critical thinking and collaboration. This study is positioned at the intersection of blended education and transversal competencies in the context of a blended ECEC teacher-training program (1000+) at the University of Helsinki. Blended education is a novel approach to training teachers, and there is a desire to explore how such an approach supports the acquisition of transversal competencies and whether the associated methods offer something essential for the development of teacher training. The aim is to explore what transversal competencies this teachertraining program supports for future teachers, and how students reflect on their learning experiences. The data consist of documents from teacher-education curricula and essays from the students on the 1000+ program. They were content-analyzed from a scoping perspective. Students' experiences of studying enhanced the achievement of generic goals in teacher education, such as to develop critical and reflective thinking, interaction competence, collaboration skills, and independent and collective expertise. We highlight the importance of teacher development in preparing for education in the future during the teacher training. Emphasizing professional development, we challenge the conventional teaching paradigm by introducing a holistic approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dynamics modeling and analysis of a rotating piezoelectric laminated beam (RPLB) considering the effect of the setting angle is presented in this paper. The rotating piezoelectric energy harvester can be simplified as a RPLB which is fixed at a rotating hub. It is easy to know that a steady transversal deformation would be produced due to the transversal component of centrifugal force when the beam is not along the radial direction (the setting angle is not equal to 0° or 180°). However, the variation of steady transversal deformation and its effect were rarely considered by existing theoretical models about the rotating harvesters. To this end, a novel nonlinear dynamics model of the RPLB is developed by the combination of floating frame reference (FFR) and absolute nodal coordinate formulation. In the model, the position coordinates and gradients on the FFR are used as the nodal coordinates to describe deformation field. The enthalpy, elastic and kinetic energies of the RPLB are derived with consideration of the piezoelectric constitutive equation and the rotation of the FFR. Thus, the dynamics equations of the RPLB can be developed by using the Lagrange's equations of second kind. The results obtained from the model show agreement with those obtained from the previous literatures, which verifies the correctness of the model. Several examples are presented to analyze the effects of rotating speed, setting angle and tip mass on steady transversal deformation, output voltage and modal characteristics. • A novel nonlinear dynamics model of RPLB is developed to benefit the design of piezoelectric energy harvesters. • Steady deformation caused by transversal component of centrifugal force and its effects are investigated and analyzed. • Variations of the dynamic stiffening / softening of RPLB with setting angle and its reason are discussed. • Tensile strains and compression strains respectively lead to dynamic stiffening and softening. We generalize the Yao–Yao partition theorem by showing that for any smooth measure in R d there exist equipartitions using (t + 1) 2 d - 1 convex regions such that every hyperplane misses the interior of at least t regions. In addition, we present tight bounds on the smallest number of hyperplanes whose union contains the boundary of an equipartition of a measure into n regions. We also present a simple proof of a Borsuk–Ulam type theorem for Stiefel manifolds that allows us to generalize the central transversal theorem and prove results bridging the Yao–Yao partition theorem and the central transversal theorem. This paper explores the computational challenges of clique transversal problems in d-degenerate graphs, which are commonly encountered across theoretical computer science and various network applications. We examine d-degenerate graphs to highlight their utility in representing sparse structures and assess several variations of clique transversal problems, including the b-fold and { b } -clique transversal problems, focusing on their computational complexities for different graph categories. Our analysis identifies that certain instances of these problems are polynomial-time solvable in specific graph classes, such as 1-degenerate or 2-degenerate graphs. However, for d-degenerate graphs where d ≥ 2 , these problems generally escalate to NP-completeness. We also explore the parameterized complexity, pinpointing specific conditions that render these problems fixed-parameter tractable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WORLDVIEW , *TRANSVERSAL lines , *HEURISTIC , *SOCIAL groups - Abstract
A worldview is, very basically, formed by tenets on the nature of the world and on the way of knowing it held by persons, social groups, intellectual currents or ethnic cultures. It is a term widely used in social sciences, but often left aside in daily research work because of being considered a vague term. Lax definitions are the reason, but such symbolic worlds will not disappear even if we do not refer to them, and we need operational and heuristic conceptualizations, both to analyze such symbolic parameters as a study objective and to refer to them as the appropriate understanding contexts of other topics. Here, definitions with a multidimensional structure that imply heuristic potential are specified as a solution; previous proposals are reviewed; the needs for improvement are set out; and a consequent conceptualization is proposed. Then onto-epistemic tenets of the main cultures on Earth and of history are briefly described as such worldviews, a case in Basque culture tested to assess the heuristic potential, and an outstanding 'transversal' implication is advanced: worldviews should not only be considered multidimensional concepts with heuristic potential, but also formed with areas around prototypes by cognitive-linguistic operators across the tenets. In this paper, we unfold balanced and totally balanced neighborhood hypergraphs to discover new classes of normally torsion-free monomial ideals. As a consequence, we establish that the closed neighborhood ideals and the dominating ideals of strongly chordal graphs are normally torsion-free. New methods for constructing two Dulac–Cherkas functions are developed using which a better, depending on the parameter , inner boundary of the Poincaré–Bendixson annulus is found for the Rayleigh system. A procedure is proposed for directly finding a polynomial whose zero level set contains a transversal oval used as the outer boundary of . An interval for is specified with which the best outer boundary of the annulus is a closed contour composed of two arcs of the constructed oval and two arcs of unclosed curves of the zero level set of one of the Dulac–Cherkas functions. Thus, a refined global Poincaré–Bendixson annulus for the limit cycle of the Rayleigh system is presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As usual, we denote a 2-dimensional sphere by S 2 . We study the periods of periodic orbits of the maps f : S 2 → S 2 that are either continuous or C1 with all their periodic orbits being hyperbolic, or transversal, or holomorphic, or transversal holomorphic. For the first time, we summarize all known results on the periodic orbits of these distinct kinds of self-maps on S 2 together. We note that every time when a map f : S 2 → S 2 increases its structure, the number of periodic orbits provided by its action on the homology increases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOLOGY of students ,RESEARCH skills ,TEACHERS ,OPERATIONAL definitions ,TRANSVERSAL lines - Abstract
Research is a core skill in university education, which allows students to develop knowledge and skills to intervene in their professional field. However, there are areas of opportunity to complete an investigation, and the context of the present study is no exception. According to this background, the objective is to characterize the students' competencies to develop a thesis and identify obstacles in its preparation, presentation, and defense. Concerning methodology, a transversal quantitative approach was used by applying a questionnaire, finding that participants manage some techniques, abilities, competencies, and knowledge and identifying difficulties centered on lack of knowledge and investigative skills. In conclusion, students do not complete their work because theoretical foundations are not put into practice since there are ambiguities in knowledge conceptualization and the operationalization of research skills. The contribution of this study lies in identifying the difficulties in preparing a thesis, which can allow teachers to design an appropriate didactic intervention to meet students' needs for the successful completion of their research and foster interest in the inquiry. Objective(s): This study compared buccal bone thickness, dental inclinations and maxillary transverse width dimensions changes between auxiliary beta‐titanium expansion arch (AEA) and miniscrew‐assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE). Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 29 patients, aged between 18 and 40 years, with transverse maxillary deficiency and treated without extractions, divided into two groups: group AEA: comprised 13 individuals (initial mean age: 29.23 ± 9.13 years) treated using auxiliary beta‐titanium expansion arch; group MARPE: comprised 16 patients (initial mean age: 24.92 ± 7.60 years) treated with miniscrew‐assisted rapid palatal expansion. Buccal bone thickness, dental inclinations and transverse width dimensions (dental, nasal base and jugular) were measured in cone‐bean computed tomographies at pre‐ and post‐treatment stages. The variables were compared using the independent t‐test. Results: The buccal bone thickness was similar for both groups at the post‐treatment stage. The second premolars were significantly more buccal inclined in the AEA group and the right maxillary first molars in the MARPE group. The intercanine and intermolar distances were statistically significantly greater in the MARPE group. Changes in dental arch transverse dimensions were significantly greater for the MARPE group. Conclusion: Both treatment protocols corrected the maxillary transverse discrepancy; however, MARPE provided greater correction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study of a Gaussian laser beam interacting with an optical prism, both through reflection and transmission, provides a technical tool to examine deviations from the optical path as dictated by geometric optics principles. These deviations encompass alterations in the reflection and refraction angles, as predicted by the reflection and Snell laws, along with lateral displacements in the case of total internal reflection. The analysis of the angular distributions of both the reflected and transmitted beams allows us to understand the underlying causes of these deviations and displacements, and it aids in formulating analytic expressions that are capable of characterizing these optical phenomena. The study also extends to the examination of transverse symmetry breaking, which is a phenomenon observed in the laser beam as it traverses the oblique interface of the prism. It is essential to underscore that this analytical overview does not strive to function as an exhaustive literature review of these optical phenomena. Instead, its primary objective is to provide a comprehensive and self-referential treatment, as well as give universal analytical formulas intended to facilitate experimental validations or applications in various technological contexts. A classical theorem of braid theory, dating back to Artin's work, says that two closed braids in a solid torus are ambient isotopic if and only if they represent the same conjugacy class of the braid group. This theorem can be reformulated in the framework of link theory without referring to the group structure. A link in a surface bundle over the circle is transversal whenever it covers the circle. In this terminology, Artin's theorem states that in a solid torus trivially fibered over the circle transversal links are ambient isotopic if and only if they are isotopic in the class of transversal links. We generalize this result by proving that (in the piecewise linear category) transversal links in an arbitrary compact orientable -manifold fibered over the circle with a compact fiber are ambient isotopic if and only if they are isotopic in the class of transversal links. The digital revolution has driven a profound transformation in the media landscape and has shaken advertising media planning to its roots. In this context, this paper makes three contributions. First, by analysing investment data, it confirms the importance that advertising media planning maintains in the digital age. Secondly, it details the most important changes that digitalization and the proliferation of media have produced in advertising and, specifically, in media planning. Finally, it argues the necessary integration of strategy, creativity and media planning in the process of creating and executing an advertising campaign. From this premise, it redefines the profile of the media planner and determines the technical and transversal skills it requires. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the educational sciences a pedagogical case study generally means a specific case from educational theory or practice. The pedagogical case study has many varieties and extends to the methodological part of the educational processes. The proposed study examines a specific type of pedagogical case study - the didactic case study. The didactic case study is defined as a type of problem solving that is based on a real case, which should be close to the students' experience and enable them to express a wide range of academic, transversal, and personal competencies during its solution. The didactic case study can be defined as a teaching method, i.e., through it the teacher teaches, and the student learns. Mmethodological guidelines for the development of didactic case studies by teachers are presented. These include a description of the essential characteristics of a good case study, procedures, and steps for constructing a case study, guidelines for developing a system of criteria, and indicators for student evaluation of the case study solution. The teachers' needs for preparation for the development and application of didactic case studies in educational activities have been brought out. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Internationalization as part of globalization in Higher Education has impacted all substantive processes in a transversal manner and has conditioned the export of goods and services as part of the financing required for its development. In Cuba, the activity has been incorporated into the development strategies of Higher Education Institutions since 1992, its development has fluctuated and today it is considered that the potential of the organization is above the achievements obtained. The diagnosis carried out has revealed a considerable number of weaknesses that limit the effectiveness and efficiency of the activity, which is why it is considered that its management needs to be improved. The objective of this article is to propose a procedure that guarantees the necessary improvement in the Higher Education Institutions attached to the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba. POLITICAL agenda , *NEGOTIATION , *PEACE , *TRANSVERSAL lines , *REFORMS - Abstract
The beginning of 2023 was marked by large expectactations regarding the materialization of the social transformation proposed by President Gustavo Petro. As the year progressed, the breakdown of the legislative coalition, and technical challenges, complicated the implementation of reforms. This article provides a brief overview of the reforms and the tensions framing them. It then focuses on the policy known as "Total Peace", that proposes a transversal view of economic and social transformations as the key to a sustainable peace, and that proposes peace accords and dialogues with diverse armed groups, including those lacking clear political agendas, and motivated by economic incentives. The article describes the content and evolution of the policy to then argue that three factors are key to understand the evolution of simultaneous negotiations with armed groups: 2) the difficulties of distinguishing the criminal or political nature of these groups, 1) the fragmentation of armed groups and 3) the need to coordinate a complex and fragmented state in the implementation of these processes. Background: A combination of dermoscopic and histological findings may provide useful information for the diagnosis of hair follicle diseases. However, there are no studies on dermoscopic–histopathological correlations in dogs affected by alopecia X, and comparison of longitudinal versus transversal sectioning of skin biopsy specimens in the assessment of this hair loss disorder has not been thoroughly investigated. Hypothesis/Objectives: The aim of this study was to correlate dermoscopic and histological features using both longitudinal and transversal sectioning of skin biopsy samples to gain additional information for the diagnosis of alopecia X. Animals: Nineteen Pomeranian dogs affected by alopecia X and five healthy Pomeranians as controls. Materials and Methods: Dermoscopic–histological correlation was performed within the diseased group, whereas histological comparisons against controls. The demographic and clinical characteristics also were related to the histological findings. Results: The dermoscopic findings revealed scattered, thinned, short hairs mixed with amorphous keratoseborrhoeic‐like material (follicular plugging), perifollicular and intrafollicular scaling, and hyperpigmentation varying from pinpoint black spots to a diffuse texture. Dermoscopic findings correlated with histological findings for selected qualitative and quantitative findings. The usefulness of transversal sections was demonstrated in accurately determining the hair follicular density and counts, growth arrest phases and in identifying mineralisation of hair follicle basement membrane when compared to the longitudinal. Conversely, no correlations between histological findings and demographic and clinical characteristics were detected. Conclusions and Clinical Relevance: These data provide evidence of the usefulness of dermoscopic evaluation as an accessory diagnostic tool and of transversal sections of skin biopsies as complementary to the diagnosis of alopecia X. The concept of intuitionistic fuzzy soft set is applied to generalize the theory of transversals in hypergraphs. The notion of transversals of an Intuitionistic Fuzzy Soft Hypergraphs (IFSHGs) and locally minimal transversals of IFSHGs are pioneered with some of its specifications. It is also proved that H ˜ is (μ, ν)-tempered IFSHGs if H ˜ is support simple, elementary and simply ordered. Then, an algorithm is developed and proposed to find the minimal transversals of IFSHGs. An application is also identified in selecting appropriate location for the installation of wind turbines. Finally the proposed algorithm works in finding the suitable place for wind turbine installation. As a result the proposed algorithm is helpful in making decisions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Given a bipartite graph H = (V = VA ∪ VB, E) in which any vertex in VA (resp., VB) has degree at most DA (resp., DB), suppose there is a partition of V that is a refinement of the bipartition VA ∪ VB such that the parts in VA (resp., VB) have size at least KA (resp., kB). We prove that the condition DA/kB + DB/kA ≤ 1 is sufficient for the existence of an independent set of vertices of H that is simultaneously transversal to the partition and show, moreover, that this condition is sharp. This result is a bipartite refinement of two well-known results on independent transversals, one due to the second author and the other due to Szabó and Tardos. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Let = [ X 1 ⇉ X 0 ] be a Lie groupoid equipped with a connection, given by a smooth distribution ℋ ⊂ T X 1 transversal to the fibers of the source map. Under the assumption that the distribution ℋ is integrable, we define a version of de Rham cohomology for the pair (, ℋ) , and we study connections on principal G -bundles over (, ℋ) in terms of the associated Atiyah sequence of vector bundles. We also discuss associated constructions for differentiable stacks. Finally, we develop the corresponding Chern–Weil theory and describe characteristic classes of principal G -bundles over a pair (, ℋ). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The classical Ham Sandwich theorem states that any |$d$| point sets in |${\mathbb {R}}^{d}$| can be simultaneously bisected by a single affine hyperplane. A generalization of Dolnikov asserts that any |$d$| families of pairwise intersecting compact, convex sets in |${\mathbb {R}}^{d}$| admit a common hyperplane transversal. We extend Dolnikov's theorem by showing that families of compact convex sets satisfying more general non-disjointness conditions admit common transversals by multiple hyperplanes. In particular, these generalize all known optimal results to the long-standing Grünbaum–Hadwiger–Ramos measure equipartition problem in the case of two hyperplanes. Our proof proceeds by establishing topological Radon-type intersection theorems and then applying Gale duality in the linear setting. For a single hyperplane, this gives a new proof of Dolnikov's original result via Sarkaria's non-embedding criterion for simplicial complexes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Maintaining desired subgrade performance is an effective way to reduce runway pavement deterioration. Due to lack of extensive field test data, life-cycle performance of runway subgrade has not been fully understood. In order to quantitatively estimate subgrade condition, a novel method of evaluating subgrade performance was developed and validated using the 726 sets of Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD) test data of ten runway sections. Statistical analysis demonstrates that the structural behaviour of rigid runway subgrade follows normal distribution in different service stages and can be efficiently evaluated by the subgrade performance index (ψ). The results of factor analysis show that Accumulated Air Traffic Volume (ATV) during service life is the major cause of spatial variations in subgrade condition. In the designed service period of runway, it validates that sea-reclaimed subgrade results in faster degradation in the initial stage of service life while thicker pavement exhibits better capability in protecting the subgrade soil in long-term view. Besides, the differences in applied loads and pavement thickness give rise to the subgrade performance variation in longitudinal direction. Meanwhile, the comparison between the main and the less trafficked test lines in transversal direction reveals that the aircraft impacts play a positive role in resisting the natural fatigue process. By the suggested method, subgrade performance of HWD test points can be categorized into 4 levels from “Excellent”, “Good”, “Fair” to “Poor” based on ψ value. It is helpful for airport agency to make scientific decisions on Maintenance and Rehabilitation (M&R) treatment by calculating the effective area of envelope (β) using the ratio of subgrade performance (η). This project introduces a pedagogical framework to raise awareness of ecological, social, and urban issues through the immersive exploration of urban soundscapes. Building on a methodology combining acoustic and psychoacoustic measurements with questionnaires [11], learners are immersed in a sound environment through binaural recordings and 3D renderings. They analyze physical and perceptual data, comparing objective measures with subjective feelings. This experimental and sensitive approach awakens engaged listening in the face of societal challenges. It develops transversal skills and qualities of attention to the environment. By revealing the complexity of urban soundscapes, this project opens up new perspectives for understanding the interactions between sound, space and society. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Let F be a smooth Riemann surface foliation on M \ E , where M is a complex manifold and the singular set E ⊂ M is an analytic set of codimension at least two. Fix a hermitian metric on M and assume that all leaves of F are hyperbolic. Verjovsky's modulus of uniformization η is a positive real function defined on M \ E defined in terms of the family of holomorphic maps from the unit disc D into the leaves of F and is a measure of the largest possible derivative in the class of such maps. Various conditions are known that guarantee the continuity of η on M \ E . The main question that is addressed here is its continuity at points of E. To do this, we adapt Whitney's C 4 -tangent cone construction for analytic sets to the setting of foliations and use it to define the tangent cone of F at points of E. This leads to the definition of a foliation that is of transversal type at points of E. It is shown that the map η associated to such foliations is continuous at E provided that it is continuous on M \ E and F is of transversal type. We also present observations on the locus of discontinuity of η . Finally, for a domain U ⊂ M , we consider F U , the restriction of F to U and the corresponding positive function η U . Using the transversality hypothesis leads to strengthened versions of the results of Lins Neto–Martins on the variation U ↦ η U . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SEED size ,BLOCK designs ,TRANSVERSAL lines - Abstract
We introduce, motivate and study ε -almost collision-flat universal (ACFU) hash functions f : X × S → A . Their main property is that the number of collisions in any given value is bounded. Each ε -ACFU hash function is an ε -almost universal (AU) hash function, and every ε -almost strongly universal (ASU) hash function is an ε -ACFU hash function. We study how the size of the seed set S depends on ε , | X | and | A | . Depending on how these parameters are interrelated, seed-minimizing ACFU hash functions are equivalent to mosaics of balanced incomplete block designs (BIBDs) or to duals of mosaics of quasi-symmetric block designs; in a third case, mosaics of transversal designs and nets yield seed-optimal ACFU hash functions, but a full characterization is missing. By either extending S or X , it is possible to obtain an ε -ACFU hash function from an ε -AU hash function or an ε -ASU hash function, generalizing the construction of mosaics of designs from a given resolvable design (Gnilke et al. in Des. Codes Cryptogr. 86(1):85–95, 2017). The concatenation of an ASU and an ACFU hash function again yields an ACFU hash function. Finally, we motivate ACFU hash functions by their applicability in privacy amplification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HYPERGRAPHS , *TRANSVERSAL lines , *PROJECTIVE planes - Abstract
The transversal number τ(H) $\tau (H)$ of a hypergraph H $H$ is the minimum number of vertices that intersect every edge of H $H$. This notion of transversal is fundamental in hypergraph theory and has been studied a great deal in the literature. A hypergraph H $H$ is r $r$‐regular if every vertex of H $H$ has degree r $r$, that is, every vertex of H $H$ belongs to exactly r $r$ edges. Further, H $H$ is k $k$‐uniform if every edge of H $H$ has size k $k$, and so every edge of H $H$ is a k $k$‐element subset of V(H) $V(H)$. For r≥2 $r\ge 2$ and k≥2 $k\ge 2$, let Hr,k,nreg ${{\rm{ {\mathcal H} }}}_{r,k,n}^{\text{reg}}$ be the class of all r $r$‐regular k $k$‐uniform hypergraphs of order n $n$. In this paper we study the problem posed by Tuza to determine or estimate the best possible constants θr,k ${\theta }_{r,k}$ (which depend only on r $r$ and k $k$) for each r≥2 $r\ge 2$ and k≥2 $k\ge 2$, such that τ(H)≤θr,k×n $\tau (H)\le {\theta }_{r,k}\times n$ for all H∈Hr,k,nreg $H\in {{\rm{ {\mathcal H} }}}_{r,k,n}^{\text{reg}}$. These constants are given by θr,k=supτ(H)n ${\theta }_{r,k}=\text{sup}\frac{\tau (H)}{n}$, where the supremum is taken over all H∈Hr,k,nreg $H\in {{\rm{ {\mathcal H} }}}_{r,k,n}^{\text{reg}}$. Tuza presented closed formulas when r=2 $r=2$ or k=2 $k=2$, and showed that θr,2=rr+1 ${\theta }_{r,2}=\frac{r}{r+1}$ for all r≥2 $r\ge 2$, θ2,k=43k ${\theta }_{2,k}=\frac{4}{3k}$ for k≥2 $k\ge 2$ even, and θ2,k=43k+1 ${\theta }_{2,k}=\frac{4}{3k+1}$ for k≥3 $k\ge 3$ odd. We conjecture that θ3,k≤32k ${\theta }_{3,k}\le \frac{3}{2k}$ for all k≥2 $k\ge 2$ and that θ4,k≤127k ${\theta }_{4,k}\le \frac{12}{7k}$ for all k≥2 $k\ge 2$. We show that both these conjectures hold for k∈{2,3,4,6} $k\in \{2,3,4,6\}$. Moreover we show, for example, that θ3,3=12 ${\theta }_{3,3}=\frac{1}{2}$ and θ4,3=59 ${\theta }_{4,3}=\frac{5}{9}$. We show that for every 0<ε<1 $0\lt \varepsilon \lt 1$ and for sufficiently large r $r$ and k $k$, the growth of θr,k ${\theta }_{r,k}$ is given by ε1+ln(r)k≤θr,k≤1+ln(r)k $\varepsilon \left(\frac{1+\mathrm{ln}(r)}{k}\right)\le {\theta }_{r,k}\le \frac{1+\mathrm{ln}(r)}{k}$. Motivated from the surrounding property of a point set in R d introduced by Holmsen, Pach, and Tverberg, we consider the transversal number and chromatic number of a simplicial sphere. As an attempt to give a lower bound for the maximum transversal ratio of simplicial d-spheres, we provide two infinite constructions. The first construction gives infinitely many (d + 1) -dimensional simplicial polytopes with the transversal ratio exactly 2 / (d + 2) for every d ≥ 2 . In the case of d = 2 , this meets the previously well-known upper bound 1/2 tightly. The second gives infinitely many simplicial 3-spheres with the transversal ratio greater than 1/2. This was unexpected from what was previously known about the surrounding property. Moreover, we show that, for d ≥ 3 , the facet hypergraph F (K) of a d-dimensional simplicial sphere K has the chromatic number χ (F (K)) ∈ O (n (⌈ d / 2 ⌉ - 1) / d ) , where n is the number of vertices of K . This slightly improves the upper bound previously obtained by Heise, Panagiotou, Pikhurko, and Taraz. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper proposes a classification methodology aimed at identifying correlations between job ad requirements and transversal skill sets, with a focus on predicting the necessary skills for individual job descriptions using a deep learning model. The approach involves data collection, preprocessing, and labeling using ESCO (European Skills, Competences, and Occupations) taxonomy. Hierarchical classification and multi-label strategies are used for skill identification, while augmentation techniques address data imbalance, enhancing model robustness. A comparison between results obtained with English-specific and multi-language sentence embedding models reveals close accuracy. The experimental case studies detail neural network configurations, hyperparameters, and cross-validation results, highlighting the efficacy of the hierarchical approach and the suitability of the multi-language model for the diverse European job market. Thus, a new approach is proposed for the hierarchical classification of transversal skills from job ads. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Transversal media move. They move with ease across a variety of interfaces, formats, materials, software, hardware, uses, and communities of practice.1 In this article, transversal media is an umbrella term used to classify media objects with the same underlying form that takes shape across a variety of materialities through freeze and flow states. Specific to 3D data, 3D transversal media are a distinct media type that have emerged from the development and proliferation of 3D media technologies, specifically the 3D printer, 3D scanner, and extended reality (XR) devices. The central characteristic of 3D transversal media is the ability to move back and forth across digital and atomic forms. Transversality offers an alternative to understanding and speaking of the digital and atomic as opposites, while also acknowledging the differences and similarities across those material transmutations. For instance, the same 3D transversal media object can be many things simultaneously: an animation on a screen, an object inside a virtual reality experience, a 3D-printed plastic figurine, a projected hologram, and more. This article tracks the complexities of 3D transversal media when they move across their individual and networked states, and moreover, the linked cultural and technological significance of that movement. This approach reveals how technology and media can inherit and reproduce hegemonic cultural ideologies and practices—whether intentional or not. To concretize this, the article concludes with a case study on Thutmose's well-known bust of Nefertiti, now a 3D transversal object, and how its transversal affordances converge and interact with global cultural politics—specifically in this case, those related to colonialism and imperialism. We consider a corank 1, finitely determined, quasi-homogeneous map germ f from $(\mathbb{C}^2,0)$ to $(\mathbb{C}^3,0)$. We describe the embedded topological type of a generic hyperplane section of $f(\mathbb{C}^2)$ , denoted by $\gamma_f$ , in terms of the weights and degrees of f. As a consequence, a necessary condition for a corank 1 finitely determined map germ $g\,{:}\,(\mathbb{C}^2,0)\rightarrow (\mathbb{C}^3,0)$ to be quasi-homogeneous is that the plane curve $\gamma_g$ has either two or three characteristic exponents. As an application of our main result, we also show that any one-parameter unfolding $F=(f_t,t)$ of f which adds only terms of the same degrees as the degrees of f is Whitney equisingular. In information transfer, the dissipation of a signal is of crucial importance. The feasibility of reconstructing the distorted signal depends on the related permanent loss. Therefore, understanding the quantized dissipative transversal mechanical waves might result in deep insights. In particular, it may be valid on the nanoscale in the case of signal distortion, loss, or even restoration. Based on the description of the damped quantum oscillator, we generalize the canonical quantization procedure for the case of the transversal waves. Then, we deduce the related damped wave equation and the state function. We point out the two possible solutions of the propagating-damping wave equation. One involves the well-known Gaussian spreading solution superposed with the damping oscillation, in which the loss of information is complete. The other is the Airy function solution, which is non-spreading–propagating, so the information loss is only due to oscillation damping. However, the structure of the wave shape remains unchanged for the latter. Consequently, this fact may allow signal reconstruction, resulting in the capability of restoring the lost information. We study the (a, b)-monochromatic transversal game that is a combinatorial Maker–Breaker game where Alice and Bob alternately colour a vertices in red and b vertices in blue of a hypergraph, respectively. Either player is enabled to start the game. Alice tries to construct a hyperedge transversal, and Bob tries to prevent this. The winner is Alice if she obtains a red hyperedge transversal; otherwise, Bob wins the game if he obtains a monochromatic blue hyperedge. Maker–Breaker games were determined to be PSPACE-complete. In this work, we analyze the game played on clique-hypergraphs of powers of cycles, and we show strategies that, depending on the choice of the parameters, allow a specific player to win the game.
