Abstract

The neotropical Apicotermitinae is a common and widespread clade of mostly soil-feeding soldierless termites. With few exceptions, species of this group were originally assigned to the genus Anoplotermes Müller, 1873. The application of internal worker morphology coupled with genetic sequencing has recently shed light on the true diversity of this subfamily. Herein, Anoplotermes susanae Scheffrahn, Carrijo & Castro, sp. nov. and four new species in four new genera are described: Hirsutitermes kanzakii Scheffrahn, Carrijo & Castro, gen. nov. et sp. nov., Krecekitermes daironi Scheffrahn, Carrijo & Castro, gen. nov. et sp. nov., Mangolditermes curveileum Scheffrahn, Carrijo & Castro, gen. nov. et sp. nov., and Ourissotermes giblinorum Scheffrahn, Carrijo & Castro, gen. nov. et sp. nov. Worker descriptions are based mainly on worker gut morphology, including the enteric valve, while imagoes were described based on external characters. A Bayesian phylogenetic tree of New World Apicotermitinae was constructed using the complete mitogenome to infer genera relationships and corroborate the taxonomic decisions. Distribution maps and a dichotomic key to the known Neotropical Apicotermitinae genera are provided.

Abstract

This paper tackles the purely unsupervised person re-identification (Re-ID) problem that requires no annotations. Some previous methods adopt clustering techniques to generate pseudo labels and use the produced labels to train Re-ID models progressively. These methods are relatively simple but effective. However, most clustering-based methods take each cluster as a pseudo identity class, neglecting the large intra-ID variance caused mainly by the change of camera views. To address this issue, we propose to split each single cluster into multiple proxies and each proxy represents the instances coming from the same camera. These camera-aware proxies enable us to deal with large intra-ID variance and generate more reliable pseudo labels for learning. Based on the camera-aware proxies, we design both intra- and inter-camera contrastive learning components for our Re-ID model to effectively learn the ID discrimination ability within and across cameras. Meanwhile, a proxy-balanced sampling strategy is also designed, which facilitates our learning further. Extensive experiments on three large-scale Re-ID datasets show that our proposed approach outperforms most unsupervised methods by a significant margin. Especially, on the challenging MSMT17 dataset, we gain $14.3\%$ Rank-1 and $10.2\%$ mAP improvements when compared to the second place. Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of the extracts from Euphorbiae Semen before and after frosting on the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4/nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB)/NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) signaling pathway. Methods According to the body weight, 42 BALB/c mice were randomly divided into a blank control group, Euphorbiae Semen low-, medium-, and high- dose groups (10. 49, 20. 98, and 41. 96 g/kg, respectively) and Euphorbiae Semen Pulveratum low-, medium-, and high-dose groups (10. 49, 20. 98, and 41. 96 g/kg, respectively), with six mice in each group. Mice received continuous gavage for 7 d. The contents of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in serum of mice were determined by enzyme linked immune sorbent assay. The protein and the mRNA expression of TLR4, NF-κB p65, and NLRP3 in colon tissues of mice were detected by Western blotting and real-time PCR. According to the body weight, 30 BALB/c mice were randomly divided into a blank control group, Euphorbiae Semen group, Euphorbiae Semen +TAK-242 group, Euphorbiae Semen Pulveratum group, and Euphorbiae Semen Pulveratum+ TAK-242 group, with six mice in each group. The administration groups were respectively given 20. 96 g/kg of Euphorbiae Semen or Euphorbiae Semen Pulveratum, and the continuous gavage time was 7 d. The Euphorbiae Semen +TAK-242 group and Euphorbiae Semen Pulveratum+ TAK-242 group were intraperitoneally injected with TAK242 (3 mg/kg) 30 min before and on Day 1, 5, 6, and 7 of administration. The protein expression of NLRP3 and NF-κB p65, and the mRNA expression of NLRP3 and IL-1β in colon tissues of mice were assessed by Western blotting and real-time PCR. Results Euphorbiae Semen not only significantly promoted the release of IL-1β and TNF-α, but it also significantly increased the protein and the mRNA expression of TLR4, NF-κB p65 and NLRP3 (P < 0. 05, P<0. 01). However, upregulation of IL-1β and TNF-α secretion, and the protein and mRNA expressions of TLR4, NF-κB p65, NLRP3 were decreased by Euphorbiae Semen Pulveratum (P<0. 05, P<0. 01). NLRP3 and NF-κB p65 protein expression and NLRP3 and IL-1β mRNA expression were inhibited after the intervention with the TLR4 inhibitor TAK-242 (P<0. 01). Conclusion Euphorbiae Semen could induce an inflammatory response of the colon tissue by activating the TLR4-mediated NF-κB/NLRP3 pathway, thus promoting the release of TNF-α and IL-1β. However, upregulation of the TLR4/ NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway and pro-inflammatory factor secretion were significantly alleviated by Euphorbiae Semen Pulveratum, indicating that the detoxification mechanism of Euphorbiae Semen frosting may be related to the decreased ability to cause inflammation and the intervention of TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of the Corydalis yanhusuo total alkaloids transdermal patch (CTTP) following Shenque acupoint application in rats. The concentrations of corydaline, tetrahydropalmatine, tetrahydrocolumbamine, protopine, and dehydrocorydaline in rat plasma and various tissues were simultaneously detected by ultra‐performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry after Shenque acupoint administration of CTTP. Plasma, heart, liver, spleen, lung, and kidney tissue samples were collected at specific times and separated by gradient elution on an ACQUITY UPLC HSS T3 column (1.8 μm, 100 mm × 2.1 mm) with a mobile phase of 0.01% formic acid aqueous solution and acetonitrile–0.01% formic acid. The methodological results showed that the selectivity, linear range, accuracy, precision, stability, matrix effect, and extraction recovery of the established method met the requirements of biological sample analysis. The results indicated that CTTP following Shenque acupoint administration rapidly delivered adequate drug into rat blood and maintained an effective plasma level for a significantly longer time than non‐acupoint administration. Furthermore, CTTP effectively reached the liver through Shenque acupoint administration and showed tissue selectivity. The data obtained could provide a prospect for the treatment of chronic pain with CTTP following Shenque acupoint application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
