124. Protective Effects of Ginseng Proteins on Photoaging of Mouse Fibroblasts Induced by UVA.

Abstract

UVA can penetrate dermis and cause functional damage of dermal fibroblasts leading photoaging. Ginseng is a widely used traditional Chinese medicine for skin aging. However, its effects on skin photoaging induced by UVA are not clear. In this study, we isolated ginseng proteins (GP), with molecular weights of 27 kDa and 13 kDa, and found that they alleviated the inhibitory effects of UVA on cell viability and increased percentage of NIH‐3T3 fibroblasts in the S phase of cells cycle. GP also improved cell contraction ability, increased the expression and secretion of CoL‐I, similar to MAPK phosphorylation inhibitors and reduced expression and secretion of MMP‐1, MMP‐2 and MMP‐9 as well as the enzyme activities of MMP‐2 and MMP‐9. They reduced ROS content, DNA damage and 8‐OHdG content, as well as the protein expression of p53, p21 and p16. The levels of p‐ERK, p‐p38 and p‐JNK, p‐c‐Fos and p‐c‐Jun proteins were decreased by GP. Inactivated GP did not inhibit the cellular activity and expression and secretion of CoL‐I irradiated by UVA. The results showed that GP can improve cell viability and contractile function by inhibiting DNA damage and collagen degradation to inhibit the photoaging effects of skin dermal cells caused by UVA. 127. Light-Induced In Situ Formation of a Nonmetallic Plasmonic MoS2/MoO3–xHeterostructure with Efficient Charge Transfer for CO2Reduction and SERS Detection

Abstract

Low-cost and abundant reserved nonmetallic plasmonic materials have been regarded as a promising substitute of noble metals for photocatalysis and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). In this paper, a MoS2/MoO3–xheterostructure was synthesized by light-induced in situ partial oxidation of MoS2nanosheets, exhibiting strong surface plasmon resonance (SPR) in a vis–near-infrared (NIR) region. Continuously plasmon-induced hot electrons boost CO2reduction to CO due to efficient photoelectron injection from MoS2to MoO3–x. Under UV–vis–NIR irradiation, the CO generation rate reached 32.4 μmol g–1h–1with a selectivity of 94.1%, which was much higher than that of single MoS2or MoO3–x. Furthermore, the plasmonic MoS2/MoO3–xheterostructure exhibits superior SERS performance for sensitive rhodamine 6G detection (10–9M) with an enhancement factor of ∼106because of the synergy between SPR and charge transfer effect. This work provides one novel mild synthetization of a plasmonic heterostructure and demonstrates its potential in plasmon-enhanced CO2reduction and SERS detection.

132. Vanillic acid in Panax ginsengroot extract inhibits melanogenesis in B16F10 cells via inhibition of the NO/PKG signaling pathway

Abstract

ABSTRACTPanax ginsengC. A. Meyer has been widely used in skin care. Our previous study showed that the phenolic acids in ginseng root extract (GRE) impart inhibitory effects on melanogenesis. In this study, we found that as the most abundant component of phenolic acids in GRE, vanillic acid decreased tyrosinase activity and melanin levels with or without α-MSH stimulation and suppressed the expression of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF) and melanogenic enzymes in B16F10 cells. Furthermore, vanillic acid downregulated NOS activity, nitric oxide (NO) content, cGMP level, guanylate cyclase (GC) and protein kinase G (PKG) activity, and the phosphorylation of cAMP-response element-binding protein (CREB), whereas arbutin had no effect on the NO/PKG pathway. These findings indicate that vanillic acid in GRE suppressed melanogenesis by inhibiting the NO/PKG signaling pathways. This study provides a potential mechanism underlying the inhibitory effect of ginseng on melanogenesis.

Abstract

This paper presents how airfield system capacity and delay analysis proceeds based on computational simulation. It analyzes the factors that influence airfield system. SIMMOD (FAA airport and airspace simulation model) is used to carry on the simulation which involves the influential factors to ensure high level of details and close reality in terms of air traffic control constraints and airfield operation procedures. Based on the information revealed from SIMMOD simulation, average departure delay and arrival delay are calculated so that airfield system bottleneck in heavy load can be found. The statistic analysis is done to find out quantitative relation between delay and capacity. We simulate two proposed scenarios to estimate their respective efficiencies in terms of airfield system improvement. The paper gives a modeling methodology with SIMMOD and finds out how to make the airfield system capacity evaluation through simulation.

Abstract

The flow increasing of civil aviation requires reducing the separation minima to improve the usability of the airspace, and then we attempt to evaluate the safety of the reduced separation minima so as to ensure the flight safety. This article includes a detailed analysis of the collision risk on the parallel route and intersecting route, and emphasizes on building the united collision risk model applied to arbitrary routes. To validate the new model practical, we assume the parameters of parallel routes and intersecting routes to measure the collision risk, and compare them with the results from the old collision risk models. The results suggest that the united collision risk model is applicable to arbitrary route configuration and indicate that the collision risk of the given routes as examples meet the target level of safety.

136. Empirical analysis of aircraft clusters in air traffic situation networks.

Abstract

The existing research on air traffic complexity ignores the effects of air traffic situation structure and, thus, cannot reflect the heterogeneous traffic density distribution in airspace. In this study, the structure of air traffic situation was characterized using the idea of community structure in complex networks. An aircraft cluster model was built, and an aircraft cluster discovery method based on depth-first traversal was proposed. The aircraft cluster division effect was comprehensively represented by cluster performance indices, including cohesion and stability. The routinely recorded radar data in two air traffic control sectors were collected to assess the cluster division results. Through statistics, the threshold intervals with 95% of best performance are 40–60 km and 20–50 km for the two sectors, respectively. The value 40 km was selected to further statistically characterize the aircraft clusters. Compared with K-means clustering, the proposed method does not require the predefined number of clusters and has high stability, which confirms its feasibility into cluster division in dynamic air traffic situation. The structural characteristics of aircraft clusters, including the average intra-cluster horizontal distance, number of clusters, and size and life cycle of clusters, were statistically analyzed. Comparison of cluster structures with the commonly used dynamic density index shows that in air traffic situation with relatively large number big size of clusters, the aircraft trajectory changes more frequently. Structural characterization of aircraft clusters is able to portray the nonuniformity of traffic density distribution, and contributes to comprehensive description of air traffic situation, thus providing a new prospect for analysis of air traffic complexity. Moreover, aircraft cluster division contributes to auto-identification of hot-spots on radar screen, and efficiently eliminates the workload imposed on controllers during judgment of these congestion hot-spots, thereby improving the air traffic operation efficiency.
