Abstract

We present the observations and analysis of a high-magnification microlensing planetary event, KMT-2022-BLG-0440, for which the weak and short-lived planetary signal was covered by both the KMTNet survey and follow-up observations. The binary-lens models with a central caustic provide the best fits, with a planet/host mass ratio, q  = 0.75–1.00 × 10−4 at 1σ. The binary-lens models with a resonant caustic and a brown-dwarf mass ratio are both excluded by Δχ2 > 70. The binary-source model can fit the anomaly well but is rejected by the 'colour argument' on the second source. From Bayesian analyses, it is estimated that the host star is likely a K or M dwarf located in the Galactic disc, the planet probably has a Neptune-mass, and the projected planet-host separation is |$1.9^{+0.6}_{-0.7}$| or |$4.6^{+1.4}_{-1.7}$|  au, subject to the close/wide degeneracy. This is the third q < 10−4 planet from a high-magnification planetary signal (A ≳ 65). Together with another such planet, KMT-2021-BLG-0171Lb, the ongoing follow-up program for the KMTNet high-magnification events has demonstrated its ability to detect high-magnification planetary signals for q < 10−4 planets, which are challenging for the current microlensing surveys. Abstract

We apply the automated AnomalyFinder algorithm of Paper I to 2018–2019 light curves from the ≃13 deg² covered by the six KMTNet prime fields, with cadences Γ ≥ 2 hr⁻¹. We find a total of 11 planets with mass ratios q < 2 × 10⁻⁴, including 6 newly discovered planets, 1 planet that was reported in Paper I, and recovery of 4 previously discovered planets. One of the new planets, OGLE-2018-BLG-0977Lb, is in a planetary caustic event, while the other five (OGLE-2018-BLG-0506Lb, OGLE-2018-BLG-0516Lb, OGLE-2019-BLG-1492Lb, KMT-2019-BLG-0253, and KMT-2019-BLG-0953) are revealed by a "dip" in the light curve as the source crosses the host-planet axis on the opposite side of the planet. These subtle signals were missed in previous by-eye searches. The planet-host separations (scaled to the Einstein radius), s, and planet-host mass ratios, q, are, respectively, (s, q × 10⁵) = (0.88, 4.1), (0.96 ± 0.10, 8.3), (0.94 ± 0.07, 13), (0.97 ± 0.07, 18), (0.97 ± 0.04, 4.1), and (0.74, 18), where the " ± " indicates a discrete degeneracy. The 11 planets are spread out over the range −5 < log q < −3.7. Together with the two planets previously reported with q ∼ 10⁻⁵ from the 2018–2019 nonprime KMT fields, this result suggests that planets toward the bottom of this mass-ratio range may be more common than previously believed.

Abstract

We report the complete statistical planetary sample from the prime fields ($\Gamma \geq 2~{\rm hr}^{-1}$) of the 2019 Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) microlensing survey. We develop the optimized KMTNet AnomalyFinder algorithm and apply it to the 2019 KMTNet prime fields. We find a total of 14 homogeneously selected planets and report the analysis of three planetary events, KMT-2019-BLG-(1042,1552,2974). The planet-host mass ratios, $q$, for the three planetary events are $6.34 \times 10^{-4}, 4.89 \times 10^{-3}$ and $6.18 \times 10^{-4}$, respectively. A Bayesian analysis indicates the three planets are all cold giant planets beyond the snow line of their host stars. The 14 planets are basically uniform in $\log q$ over the range $-5.0 < \log q < -1.5$. This result suggests that the planets below $q_{\rm break} = 1.7 \times 10^{-4}$ proposed by the MOA-II survey may be more common than previously believed. The type III secretion system (T3SS) of Pseudomonas aeruginosa plays a significant role in pathogenesis. We have previously identified type III secretion factor (TSF), which is required for effective secretion of the type III effector molecules, in addition to the low calcium signal. TSF includes many low-affinity high-capacity calcium binding proteins, such as serum albumin and casein. A search for the TSF binding targets on the bacterial outer membrane resulted in identification of PopN, a component of the T3SS that is readily detectable on the bacterial cell surface. PopN specifically interacts with Pcr1, and both popN and pcr1 mutants have a constitutive type III secretion phenotype, suggesting that the two proteins form a complex that functions as a T3SS repressor. Further analysis of the popN operon genes resulted in identification of protein-protein interactions between Pcr1 and Pcr4 and between Pcr4 and Pcr3, as well as between PopN and Pcr2 in the presence of PscB. Unlike popN and pcr1 mutants, pcr3 and pcr4 mutants are totally defective in type III secretion, while apcr2 mutant exhibits reduced type III secretion. Interestingly, PopN, Pcr1, Pcr2, and Pcr4 are all secreted in a type III secretion machinery-dependent manner, while Pcr3 is not. These findings imply that these components have important regulatory roles in controlling type III secretion.

Abstract

We report the discovery and analysis of a sub-Saturn-mass planet in the microlensing event OGLE-2018-BLG-0799. The planetary signal was observed by several ground-based telescopes, and the planet-host mass ratio is q = (2.65±0.16)×10⁻³. The ground-based observations yield a constraint on the angular Einstein radius θ_E, and the microlens parallax π_E is measured from the joint analysis of the Spitzer and ground-based observations, which suggests that the host star is most likely to be a very low-mass dwarf. A full Bayesian analysis using a Galactic model indicates that the planetary system is composed of an M_(planet) = 0.22^(+0.19)_(−0.06) M_J planet orbiting an M_(host) = 0.080^(+0.080)_(−0.020) M⊙, at a distance of D_L = 4.42^(+1.73)_(−1.23) kpc. The projected planet-host separation is r⊥ = 1.27^(+0.45)_(−0.29) AU, implying that the planet is located beyond the snowline of the host star. However, because of systematics in the Spitzer photometry, there is ambiguity in the parallax measurement, so the system could be more massive and farther away.

Abstract

In this article, a novel sampled-data control method is proposed for direct current to direct current converter. According to its switching property, the direct current to direct current converter is described as a switched affine system. A novel error tracking switching law is designed based on the multi-Lyapunov functions method and sampled-data control strategy with variant sampling intervals. The sufficient condition concerning the state of the constructed switched affine system converging to a finite region is developed, which guarantees the outcome voltage can approach the desired value and achieve the voltage adjustment. Based on it, the condition under uncertain parameters is developed as well, which would be more desirable in applications. Abstract

The gravitational microlensing method of discovering exoplanets and multi-star systems can produce degenerate solutions, some of which require in-depth analysis to uncover. We propose a new parameter space that can be used to sample potential solutions more efficiently and is more robust at finding all degenerate solutions for the “central-resonant” caustic degeneracy. We identified two new parameters, kand h, that can be sampled in place of the mass ratios and separations of the systems under analysis to identify degenerate solutions. The parameter kis related to the size of the central caustic, Δξc, while his related to the distance of a point along the kcontour from log(s) = 0, where sis the projected planet-host separation. In this work, we present the characteristics of these parameters and the tests we conducted to prove their efficacy.

Abstract

Background: Demethylzeylasteral (ZST93), a pharmacologically active triterpenoid monomer extractedfrom Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F (TWHF), has been reported to exert antineoplastic effects in severalcancer cell types. However, the anti-tumour effects of ZST93 in human colorectal cancer (CRC) cells are unknown. Objective: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the antitumor effects of ZST93 on cell cycle arrest,disruptive autophagic flux, apoptotic cell death and enhanced chemosensitivity to 5-FU in human CRC cells. Methods: 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, colony formation assay,flow cytometry, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, 5-ethynyl-20-deoxyuridine (EdU) incorporation assayand autophagy analysis were used to evaluate the effects of ZST93 on cell viability, cell cycle progression,apoptosis and autophagy in two human CRC cell lines. Moreover, ZST93s combined anti-tumour effects with5-fluorouracil (5-FU) were evaluated. Results: ZST93 inhibited CRC cell proliferation and growth. It was responsible for blocked cell cycle transitionby arresting CRC cells in the G0/G1 phase via down-regulation of CDK4, CDK6, Cyclin D1 and c-MYC.Moreover, ZST93 induced suppressive autophagic flux and caspase-3-dependent cell death, which was furtherstrengthened by the blocking of the autophagy process using chloroquine (CQ). Moreover, ZST93 enhancedCRC cells chemosensitivity to 5-FU via modulation of autophagy and apoptosis. Conclusion: ZST93 exerts anti-tumor effects via disruptive autophagic flux and apoptotic cell death in humanCRC cells and increases cell chemosensitivity to 5-FU. These results provide insights into the utilisation ofZST93 as an adjuvant or direct autophagy inhibitor and suggest ZST93 as a novel therapeutic strategy for treatingCRC.

We report an experimental study of the electron-impact ionization (E0 = 65 eV) and fragmentation of carbon dioxide clusters for the formation of and using a reaction microscope. All three charged particles, two outgoing electrons and one cation, are detected in coincidence such that the momentum vectors and, consequently, the kinetic energies for these final-state particles are determined. The reaction mechanisms correlated to ionic species are analyzed using the measured binding energy spectra over a broad range of ionization energy (8–32 eV). We observe that the cations with small momenta are formed mainly from the direct ionization of the outermost 1πg orbital in the carbon dioxide dimer (CO2)2. While the (1πu)−1, (3σu)−1 and (4σg)−1 states in are unstable and most likely dissociate into and neutral species. The cations with high momenta are attributed to the ionization of small carbon dioxide clusters (CO2)n (n ⩾ 3) and subsequent dissociation processes. Compared to the appearance energy studies of carbon dioxide clusters where only the outermost 1πg orbital ionization was observed for formation of , several additional channels are identified in this work. Abstract

The current studies of microlensing planets are limited by small number statistics. Follow-up observations of high-magnification microlensing events can efficiently form a statistical planetary sample. Since 2020, the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) and the Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) global network have been conducting a follow-up program for high-magnification KMTNet events. Here, we report the detection and analysis of a microlensing planetary event, KMT-2023-BLG-1431, for which the subtle (0.05 mag) and short-lived (5 hr) planetary signature was characterized by the follow-up from KMTNet and LCO. A binary-lens single-source (2L1S) analysis reveals a planet/host mass ratio of q= (0.72 ± 0.07) × 10−4, and the single-lens binary-source (1L2S) model is excluded by Δχ2= 80. A Bayesian analysis using a Galactic model yields estimates of the host star mass of Mhost=0.57−0.29+0.33M⊙, the planetary mass of Mplanet=13.5−6.8+8.1M⊕, and the lens distance of DL=6.9−1.7+0.8kpc. The projected planet-host separation of a⊥=2.3−0.5+0.5au or a⊥=3.2−0.8+0.7au, subject to the close/wide degeneracy. We also find that without the follow-up data, the survey-only data cannot break the degeneracy of central/resonant caustics and the degeneracy of 2L1S/1L2S models, showing the importance of follow-up observations for current microlensing surveys.

Experimental results demonstrate that the stainless steel surface achieves optimal water contact angle upon the formation of the “honeycomb” 3D network structure. Electrochemical corrosion test shows that the prepared superhydrophobic stainless steel surface possesses 16 times higher corrosion resistance than common stainless steel surface.

Abstract

We present K2-2016-BLG-0005Lb, a densely sampled, planetary binary caustic-crossing microlensing event found from a blind search of data gathered from Campaign 9 of the Kepler K2 mission (K2C9). K2-2016-BLG-0005Lb is the first bound microlensing exoplanet discovered from space-based data. The event has caustic entry and exit points that are resolved in the K2C9 data, enabling the lens–source relative proper motion to be measured. We have fitted a binary microlens model to the Kepler data, and to simultaneous observations from multiple ground-based surveys. Whilst the ground-based data only sparsely sample the binary caustic, they provide a clear detection of parallax that allows us to break completely the microlensing mass–position–velocity degeneracy and measure the planet’s mass directly. We find a host mass of 0.58 ± 0.04M⊙ and a planetary mass of 1.1 ± 0.1MJ. The system lies at a distance of 5.2 ± 0.2 kpc from Earth towards the Galactic bulge, more than twice the distance of the previous most distant planet found by Kepler. The sky-projected separation of the planet from its host is found to be 4.2 ± 0.3 au which, for circular orbits, deprojects to a host separation $a = 4.4^{+1.9}_{-0.4}$ au and orbital period $P = 13^{+9}_{-2}$ yr. This makes K2-2016-BLG-0005MLb a close Jupiter analogue orbiting a low-mass host star. According to current planet formation models, this system is very close to the host mass threshold below which Jupiters are not expected to form. Upcoming space-based exoplanet microlensing surveys by NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope and, possibly, ESA’s Euclid mission, will provide demanding tests of current planet formation models.

Abstract

Aims. We investigated the nature of the anomalies appearing in four microlensing events KMT-2020-BLG-0757, KMT-2022-BLG-0732, KMT-2022-BLG-1787, and KMT-2022-BLG-1852. The light curves of these events commonly exhibit initial bumps followed by subsequent troughs that extend across a substantial portion of the light curves. Methods. We performed thorough modeling of the anomalies to elucidate their characteristics. Despite their prolonged durations, which differ from the usual brief anomalies observed in typical planetary events, our analysis revealed that each anomaly in these events originated from a planetary companion located within the Einstein ring of the primary star. It was found that the initial bump arouse when the source star crossed one of the planetary caustics, while the subsequent trough feature occurred as the source traversed the region of minor image perturbations lying between the pair of planetary caustics. Results. The estimated masses of the host and planet, their mass ratios, and the distance to the discovered planetary systems are (Mhost/M⊙, Mplanet/MJ, q/10−3, DL/kpc) = (0.58−0.30+0.33, 10.71−5.61+6.17, 17.61 ± 2.25, 6.67−1.30+0.93) for KMT-2020-BLG-0757, (0.53−0.31+0.31, 1.12−0.65+0.65, 2.01 ± 0.07, 6.66−1.84+1.19) for KMT-2022-BLG-0732, (0.42−0.23+0.32, 6.64−3.64+4.98, 15.07 ± 0.86, 7.55−1.30+0.89) for KMT-2022-BLG-1787, and (0.32−0.19+0.34, 4.98−2.94+5.42, 8.74 ± 0.49, 6.27−1.15+0.90) for KMT-2022-BLG-1852. These parameters indicate that all the planets are giants with masses exceeding the mass of Jupiter in our solar system and the hosts are low-mass stars with masses substantially less massive than the Sun. Abstract

Aims. We aim to investigate the nature of the short-term anomaly that appears in the lensing light curve of KMT-2023-BLG-1866. The anomaly was only partly covered due to its short duration of less than a day, coupled with cloudy weather conditions and a restricted nighttime duration. Methods. Considering the intricacy of interpreting partially covered signals, we thoroughly explored all potential degenerate solutions. Through this process, we identified three planetary scenarios that account for the observed anomaly equally well. These scenarios are characterized by the specific planetary parameters: (s, q)inner = [0.9740 ± 0.0083, (2.46 ± 1.07) × 10−5], (s, q)intermediate = [0.9779 ± 0.0017, (1.56 ± 0.25) × 10−5], and (s, q)outer = [0.9894 ± 0.0107, (2.31 ± 1.29) × 10−5], where s and q denote the projected separation (scaled to the Einstein radius) and mass ratio between the planet and its host, respectively. We identify that the ambiguity between the inner and outer solutions stems from the inner-outer degeneracy, while the similarity between the intermediate solution and the others is due to an accidental degeneracy caused by incomplete anomaly coverage. Results. Through Bayesian analysis utilizing the constraints derived from measured lensing observables and blending flux, our estimation indicates that the lens system comprises a very-low-mass planet orbiting an early M-type star situated approximately (6.2–6.5) kpc from Earth in terms of median posterior values for the different solutions. The median mass of the planet host is in the range of (0.48–0.51) M⊙, and that of the planet's mass spans a range of (2.6–4.0) ME, varying across different solutions. Abstract

Aims. Light curves of microlensing events occasionally deviate from the smooth and symmetric form of a single-lens single-source event. While most of these anomalous events can be accounted for by employing a binary-lens single-source (2L 1S) or a single-lens binary-source (1L2S) framework, it is established that a small fraction of events remain unexplained by either of these interpretations. We carried out a project in which data collected by high-cadence microlensing surveys were reinvestigated with the aim of uncovering the nature of anomalous lensing events with no proposed 2L 1S or 1L 2S models. Methods. From the project we found that the anomaly appearing in the lensing event OGLE-2023-BLG-0836 cannot be explained by the usual interpretations, and we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the event. From thorough modeling of the light curve under sophisticated lens-system configurations, we arrived at the conclusion that a triple-mass lens system is imperative to account for the anomalous features observed in the lensing light curve. Results. From the Bayesian analysis using the measured observables of the event timescale and angular Einstein radius, we determined that the least massive component of the lens has a planetary mass of 4.36−2.18+2.35MJ. This planet orbits within a stellar binary system composed of two stars with masses 0.71−0.36+0.38M⊙ and 0.56−0.28+0.30M⊙. This lensing event signifies the sixth occurrence of a planetary microlensing system in which a planet belongs to a stellar binary system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Objective: To observe the effects of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) five-element music therapy combined with mirtazapine on depression and limb function recovery after ischemic stroke., Methods: A total of 110 patients treated in the Departments of Geriatrics, Cardiology, and Psychology of three hospitals in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, China from October 2022 to August 2023 were selected. Based on the scores of 24-item Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD-24), Barthel (BL) index, and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) before enrollment, the patients were randomly divided into control group (n = 58) and experimental group (n = 52). The patients in control group were treated with limb rehabilitation, while those in experimental group underwent limb rehabilitation combined with five-element music therapy and mirtazapine., Results: After 12 weeks of treatment and observation, 11 patients in control group and 9 patients in experimental group withdrew from this trail. As for the proportions of score changes, experimental group had higher decline proportions of HAMD-24 score and NIHSS score as well as an increased proportion of BL index score than control group, which were 43.97%, 69.32%, and 44.12%, respectively., Conclusion: TCM five-element music therapy combined with mirtazapine significantly improves depression and limb function recovery after ischemic stroke.

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the distribution characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in plateau areas, and to provide theoretical basis for further clinical treatment of patients with COVID-19., Methods: From August 9 to August 24, 2022, patients with COVID-19 admitted to the Third People's Hospital of Tibet Autonomous Region (designated hospital for COVID-19) were included, and their baseline characteristics (age, gender, source), clinical classification and distribution of TCM syndrome types were collected and analyzed. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0 statistical software., Results: A total of 161 COVID-19 patients were enrolled with ethnic distribution: 124 (77.02%) Tibetans, 35 (21.74%) Han, and 2 (1.24%) Hui, 68 males and 93 females. The male-to-female ratio was 0.73:1. Aged 1 to 94 years, the average age was (39.06±23.64) years old, of which 4 patients were under 1 year old (excluded because the information was missing). A total of 157 patients were enrolled, and 124 patients (78.9%) were under 60 years old, including 120 cases of common type, 4 cases of severe type, 0 cases of critical type, 7 cases over 80 years old, 1 case over 90 years old, and 32 cases under 18 years old. The clinical manifestations of the patient are mainly cough, expectoration, fever, aversion to cold, dry throat, headache, fatigue, running nose, dry mouth, bitter mouth, etc. Most of the tongue is pale, red, and white greasy moss or thin white coating. In TCM, the most common syndrome was cold-dampness blocking lung syndrome (99 cases, 63.06%), followed by cold-dampness stagnant lung syndrome (22 cases, 14.01%), damp-heat accumulating lung syndrome (22 cases, 14.01%), and humidity stagnant lung syndrome (11 cases, 7.01%). Syndromes of epidemic (2 cases, 1.27%), epidemic toxins blocking the lung pattern (1 cases, 0.64%), toxins with dryness intense heat in both qi and ying phases pattern (0 cases) accounted for less than 2%, and the distribution of various syndrome types in COVID-19 patients was uneven (χ 2 = 0.48, P < 0.05)., Conclusions: The most common TCM syndromes of COVID-19 patients in Lhasa are cold-dampness blocking lung syndrome, followed by cold-dampness stagnant lung syndrome, damp-heat accumulating lung syndrome, and humidity stagnant lung syndrome.
