Using the self-consistent density functional method, we investigate the structural and electronic properties of cubic [Hf.sub.3][N.sub.4] with [Th.sub.3][P.sub.4] structure at ambient and high pressures. The lattice parameters, cell volume, bulk modulus, and pressure derivative at ambient pressure are obtained, which are in excellent agreement with the available measurements. The change of bond lengths for two different types of Hf-N bond with pressure suggests that the tetrahedral Hf-N bond is slightly less compressible than the octahedral ones, which agree well with the [Zr.sub.3][N.sub.4] and [Zn.sub.3][N.sub.2] results. The band gap pressure coefficient for c-[Hf.sub.3][N.sub.4] are fitted, which are 8.5 x [10.sup.-2] eV/GPa and -7.0 x [10.sup.-5] eV/[(GPa).sup.2], respectively. Based on the density of states analysis, band structure suggests that the investigated material can be used as a semiconductor optical material. Mulliken population analysis shows that the charge density of the Hf atom is less sensitive to pressure variation than that of the N atom. At last, the defect formation enthalpies of the cubic [Hf.sub.3][N.sub.4] are calculated. PACS Nos.: 62.50.-p, 71.15.Mb, 73.20.At. L'utilisation de la methode de la fonctionnelle de densite auto-coherente nous permet d'etudier les proprietes structurelles et electroniques du [Hf.sub.3][N.sub.4] cubique avec la structure [Th.sub.3][P.sub.4] a pression ambiante et haute. Nous obtenons les parametres du reseau, le volume de la cellule, le module de compression volumique et la derivee de la pression, le tout a pression ambiante et ces resultats sont en excellent accord avec les mesures disponibles. La variation avec la pression de la longueur de lien entre deux liens Hf-N differents suggere que le lien Hf-N tetraedrique est legerement moins compressible que l'octaedrique, ce qui agree avec les resultats pour [Zr.sub.3][N.sub.4] et [Zr.sub.3][N.sub.2]. The 'Lying Flat' mindset refers to people's low intention to self‐improvement. We hypothesized that personal relative deprivation (PRD), the negative consequence of social comparisons, is one of the reasons that might harm individuals' self‐improvement motivations. In study 1 (N = 313), we found that PRD negatively predicted self‐improvement after controlling for various confounding variables. This result is confirmed in study 2a (N = 3399) and 2b (N = 3219) by using a national representative sample. Furthermore, Study 2a found that the effect of PRD on self‐improvement was mediated by the system‐justifying belief (SJB). In study 3 (N = 160), we experimentally demonstrated that PRD harms self‐improvement and persistence via its effect on SJB. The higher PRD people experienced, the less they endorsed the SJB, which thereby reduced self‐improvement. Taken together, this research manifested that not only would PRD affect people's social beliefs (e.g. SJB) but also hinder self‐improvement motivations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Purpose: Gut microbiota dysbiosis induced by acute pancreatitis (AP) exacerbates pancreatic injury and systemic inflammatory responses. The alleviation of gut microbiota dysbiosis through faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is considered a potential strategy to reduce tissue damage and inflammation in many clinical disorders. Here, we aim to investigate the effect of gut microbiota and microbiota‐derived metabolites on AP and further clarify the mechanisms associated with pancreatic damage and inflammation. Experimental Approach: AP rat and mouse models were established by administration of caerulein or sodium taurocholate in vivo. Pancreatic acinar cells were exposed to caerulein and lipopolysaccharide in vitro to simulate AP. Key Results: Normobiotic FMT alleviated AP‐induced gut microbiota dysbiosis and ameliorated the severity of AP, including mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative damage and inflammation. Normobiotic FMT induced higher levels of NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide)‐associated metabolites, particularly nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). NMN administration mitigated AP‐mediated mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative damage and inflammation by increasing pancreatic NAD+ levels. Similarly, overexpression of the NAD+‐dependent mitochondrial deacetylase sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) alleviated the severity of AP. Furthermore, SIRT3 deacetylated peroxiredoxin 5 (PRDX5) and enhanced PRDX5 protein expression, thereby promoting its antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory activities in AP. Importantly, normobiotic FMT‐mediated NMN metabolism induced SIRT3–PRDX5 pathway activation during AP. Conclusion and Implications: Gut microbiota‐derived NMN alleviates the severity of AP by activating the SIRT3–PRDX5 pathway. Normobiotic FMT could be served as a potential strategy for AP treatment. To improve the conditions of powder bentonite-steel slag forming, the composite adsorption particles were prepared from calcium-based bentonite and steel slag with the help of cross-linking of sodium alginate and calcium chloride. The post-adsorption morphology, elemental and physical phases of the composite particles were characterized by SEM-EDS and XRD analysis. The effect of composite adsorption particles on the adsorption of Cu (11) at different slag mass ratios, dosing amounts, pH, temperature and initial concentration was investigated by static adsorption experiments. The results showed that the removal rate of Cu(II) reached 92.95% at a compound particle dosage of 30 g/L, pH 5.2 and an initial Cu(II) concentration of 100 mg/L. The kinetics of Cu(II) adsorption by the composite particles is in accordance with the proposed first-order kinetic model, the adsorption thermodynamics is in accordance with the Lang-muir adsorption isotherm model, and the thermodynamically relevant parameters indicate that the adsorption of Cu(II) by the composite particles is a spontaneous, heat-absorbing procees.
