103. Cascading Failure Analysis Based on a Physics-Informed Graph Neural Network

Abstract

Power flow calculation in quasi-steady states is the basis of cascading failure analysis. However, in recent years, data-driven analysis methods that are based on sufficient data have put forward higher requirements on the speed of power flow calculation. To build a more accurate and efficient neural network for power flow calculation, a physics-informed graph neural network-based model is proposed for faster calculation. Via minimizing the physics-informed loss function and using a pre-training/fine-tuning method, the proposed model is trained to follow the physical equations directly and can generalize to dynamic power networks. Physics-informed $LOSS$ makes the proposed model more interpretable, since the calculation error can be evaluated by $LOSS$. Then cascading failures are simulated with the proposed model, and a pre-set factor $\zeta$ is introduced to balance the speed and accuracy of simulations. Finally, the accuracy of cascading failure simulations with the proposed model is verified in the IEEE 39-bus system, the 118-bus system, the 300-bus system, and a real-world French system. Experimental results show that compared with AC power flow, the proposed physics-informed graph neural network-based power flow model can reduce the simulation time significantly while maintaining high accuracy if $\zeta$ is properly pre-set.

Abstract

A novel control strategy of synchronous compensators and converters is proposed to increase the ability of line commutated converter (LCC) based HVDC systems to successfully recover from commutation failures (CFs). The dynamic var support is one of the most important factors, which impact the commutation process. Many synchronous compensators have been implemented to enhance the transient voltage stability for improving the CF recovery performance. However, the traditional automatic voltage regulator (AVR) of synchronous compensator may not be suitable for the commutation voltage support, because the transient var demand of converters during the CF recovery is neglected. In our work, the voltage control will be adaptively adjusted, depending on the state of converters. Case studies based on simulations in PSCAD/EMTDC show that the proposed strategy can improve the performance of fault recovery from CF.

Abstract

The length of transition section of Metro trapezoidal sleeper track bed affects the overall stiffness of the track. This paper establishes the Metro vehicle-rail coupling model and compares the calculated results of the trapezoidal sleepers of different transition lengths with the field measured data to verify the correctness of the model. The calculation results show that: The maximum vertical displacement of the track bed at the length of 0, 3, 6, and 9 meters is 2.55, 2.53, 2.01, and 1.92 mm, respectively, the maximum vertical displacements of the transition rails at the length of 0, 3, 6, and 9 meters are 2.53, 2.44, 2.31, 2.30 mm, respectively, the maximum rotation angles of the 0, 3, 6, and 9 meters transition sections are 1.01 rad ‰, 0.96 rad ‰, 0.90 rad ‰, 0.84 rad ‰, respectively. Considering the safety of the track and other factors, the length of the trapezoidal sleeper transition section should not be less than 9m.

150. Petrogenesis of Late Silurian volcanism in SW Yunnan (China) and implications for the tectonic reconstruction of northern Gondwana.

Abstract

Early Palaeozoic magmatic records and tectonic reconstructions along the northern margin of Gondwana are still pending problems. In this paper, Late Silurian Dawazi and Dazhonghe volcanics in SW Yunnan Province (China) were studied. The Dazhonghe volcanics (419 Ma) have variable chemical compositions with SiO2 ranging between 49.8 and 79.5 wt.%, whereas, the Dawazi volcanics (417–429 Ma) form a bimodal volcanic suite consisting mainly of silicic rocks and subordinate basaltic rocks with a SiO2 content gap of ca. 15 wt.%. The Dazhonghe volcanics display calc-alkaline elemental compositions with enrichment in light rare earth elements (LREEs), and depletion in high field strength elements (HFSEs) (e.g. Nb, Ta and Ti) and positive εNd(t) values (+ 4.0 to + 5.5). The Dawazi basaltic rocks are calc-alkaline, depleted in HFSEs, enriched in large ion lithophile elements (LILEs) (e.g. Cs, Rb, U and K), and have high εNd(t) values of −1.7 to + 5.4. The Dawazi silicic rocks have high Na2O/K2O ratios and positive εNd(t) values of + 2.4 to + 5.0, which are equivalents of calc-alkaline I-type granites. The Dazhonghe volcanics are dominated by fractional crystallization (FC) from a calc-alkaline primary magma which originated from an enriched mantle source metasomatized by subduction-related, sediment-derived fluid. The Dawazi basaltic rocks were derived from partial melting of an enriched mantle source metasomatized by subducted oceanic sediment/slab-derived fluids; the Dawazi silicic rocks originated from partial melting of the juvenile mafic lower crust with extensive FC. Both the Dazhonghe and Dawazi volcanics were generated in a continental back-arc extension setting. Combined with previous geological observations, a Late Silurian Prototethyan arc and back-arc extension system is proposed along the northern margin of Gondwana in SW China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
