Objective To study the feasibility of using two stents (a combination of multilayer stent [MS] and stent graft [SG]) in the treatment of a juxtarenal aortic aneurysm that involves a significant branch artery and to determine the advantages and disadvantages of using SGs upstream and downstream from the aneurysm so as to provide some theoretical guidance for preoperative clinical decision-making in the future. Methods Four ideal geometric models were established for numerical computation: case 1 refers to an aneurysm without the use of stents, case 2 represents the implantation of two MSs in an aneurysm, and case 3 (SG + MS) and case 4 (MS + SG) both involve the treatment of an aneurysm by using a combination of SG and MG. Results The aneurysm pressure is slightly lower and there are more vortices when the SG is implanted (case 3 and case 4). In particular, for case 4, additional vortices appear in the sac and the area of the low-wall shear stress is larger on the aneurysm compared with those of the other three cases. However, the pressure becomes uneven, and a peak pressure region is observed on the wall of the aneurysm, and therefore, the aneurysmal wall will become buckled. In addition, the flux of the renal artery in the four cases is greater than that in the normal case. Conclusion The arrangements in cases 3 and 4 can effectively isolate the aneurysm from circulation, but clinically, it is necessary to avoid such a high-risk situation wherein the SG is positioned downstream of the aneurysm (case 4), even though this leads to improved isolation.

Free surfaces and inner defects (such as grain boundary) facilitate initiating of melting. The grain boundary can affect the toughness of polycrystal Copper. In this paper, the melting copper nanoparticles have been studied by a model that combines two-temperature and molecular dynamics methods. After laser ablation, a 45-degree grain orientation presents an unusual toughness behaviour. The higher failure strain of the twin crystal copper with laser ablation than it has not. It can be found that the dislocations and grain boundary interaction paly the main role. It gives a new view that the laser can enhance the toughness of Cu crystal.

For researching on the rules of icing distribution on rotating blade of horizontal axis wind turbine, a Quasi-3-D method is proposed to research on icing on rotating blades of horizontal axis wind turbine by numerical simulation. A 2-D and 3-D method of evaluating the irregular shape of ice has been established. The model of rotating blade from a 1.5 MW horizontal axis wind turbine is used to simulate the process and shape of icing on blade. The simulation is carried out under the conditions with four important parameters including ambient temperature, liquid water content, medium volume drop diameter, and icing time. The results reveal that icing mainly happens on 50% ~ 70% of the blade surface along wingspan from tip to root of blade. There are two kinds of icing shapes including horn shape icing and streamline shape icing. The study can provide theoretical basis and numerical reference to development of anti and deicing strategy for wind turbine blades.

Swertia mileensis, known as Qing-Ye-Dan (QYD), has been documented in Chinese Pharmacopoeia to cure hepatitis. Interestingly, its announced main active component, swertiamarin, could not be detected in the decoction, which indicated that the efficacy of QYD might be attributed to heat-transformed products of swertiamarin (HTPS). Further investigation on HTPS led to the isolation of sweritranslactone D (1), a novel secoiridoid dimer possessing a tetracyclic lactone skeleton, with better hepatoprotective activity than N-acetyl-L-cysteine in vitro.
