CONTINUOUS improvement process , *NATURAL products , *MANUFACTURING processes , *RAW materials , *DATABASE design , *TECHNOLOGY transfer - Abstract
The commercialization of natural products is growing exponentially in Brazil and, thus, industries need to have increasingly efficient production processes. In view of the industry's demands for process standardization and continuous improvement execution, the objective was to determine actions for the insertion of improvements in the company's production processes. The method is qualitative in nature, with a descriptive and exploratory design. As a research strategy, a case study was used in a natural products company. At the end of the study, it was possible to present proposals for improvement in the stock of finished product, avoiding damage to packaging, as well as changes in product identification, making the space more harmonious and enabling changes in the current layout. Still, it was suggested the implementation of a PCP sector responsible for receiving, processing, raising the demands of raw materials and purchase requests. This way, the employees from the production sector would be responsible only for the production, not needing to segregate orders of products already in stock and without raw material. It was also suggested the application of a supplier control metric with the development of a database, providing an effective improvement in the choice of suppliers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

GRAPE quality , *FACTORS of production , *QUALITY control , *HUMAN behavior , *PRODUCT quality - Abstract
The production of grapes and wines in Rio Grande do Sul is one of the largest in Brazil and, therefore, the requirements related to quality control for both products are paramount to obtain prominence in this market. In this sense, this study aims to describe the production factors that interfere in the quality of the grapes destined to wine production. The method adopted was qualitative in nature, with a descriptive and exploratory design. At the end of the study the factors that interfere in the quality of wine production were identified, highlighting the management, climate, phytosanitary conditions, and the processing adopted. These factors can be controlled through human action together with the addition of technologies that act as facilitators. From the observations and informal interviews, it can be said that all three producers value the quality of their products. Equally, the winery shows extreme care for the production of wines, maintaining constant testing, before the production process, during the production stages, and on the final product, in order to certify the suitability of the product for human consumption. The results presented were satisfactory, presenting the description of the production factors that interfere in the quality of the grapes in the three properties studied. Furthermore, through the study, an understanding of the winemaking processes of a winery was obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ORGANIC farming , *AGRICULTURAL policy , *ANALYTIC hierarchy process , *AGRICULTURE , *SYNTHETIC fertilizers , *FARMERS' attitudes , *ORGANIC farmers - Abstract
This research evaluated farmers’ decisions to adopt organic farming. It was first introduced by developed countries to minimize environmental impacts originated by intensive use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides to enhance production yield. Although, organic farming offers environmentally sound methodologies for crop production, but Asian farmers are reluctant to adopt organic farming. In this study, a survival analysis (SA) was employed to determine the reasons for and the time is taken by farmers to adopt organic agriculture. This research studied the farmers’ goals, agricultural policies, and attitude towards risk, as covariates in the survival analysis. A multiple criteria decisionmaking method based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process was used to evaluate the farmers’ goals. Data were collected from agricultural farms located in three districts in Punjab, Pakistan. A questionnaire was used to collect empirical evidence. This study reported that the farmers’ goals were crucial to their acceptance of organic farming; furthermore, young farmers and farmers with risk-inclined attitudes were more prone to adopting organic farming. The study also determined that change in policy and introduce special package for organic agriculture can encouraged the adoption of organic methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SILVOPASTORAL systems , *SOIL fertility , *ALNUS glutinosa , *ACACIA , *BIOMASS , *ORGANIC compounds , *SPECIES - Abstract
The introduction of silvopastoral systems, due to the environmental services they provide, constitute a viable and adaptable alternative in countries of tropical and subtropical regions of Latin America. The main of the research was to evaluate the influence of silvopastoral systems in the generation of ecosystem and productive services in the experimental and production center of Salache, Latacunga Canton, Cotopaxi province. Three silvopastoral systems with tree and forage species were selected and introduced. The edaphic indicators related to soil fertility, the dry matter content of the grass within the inclusion and the generation of other environmental services of the trees were determined. Descriptive statistical analyzes were applied such as the comparison of silvopastoral systems through ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis. It was concluded that the introduction of the tree component in silvopastoral systems influences the content of calcium, organic matter and soluble phosphorus. The species that contributes the most to the increase in nutrients in the soil is the Inga edulis Mart. followed by Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn. Silvopastoral systems proved to be an effective agroecological practice for the accumulation of dry matter, at higher levels than herbaceous species, especially when the Silvopastoral systems was introduced with Acacia dealbata Link and Inga edulis Mart. These two tree species are the ones that contribute the most to biomass and carbon in the edaphoclimatic conditions of the study area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Goat farming has been present in Brazil since the colonial period, currently the Northeast has the largest contingent of these animals, where they are exploited to obtain meat, milk and leather. The objective of this work was to analyze the profile of goat farming in the municipality of Anajatuba, Maranhão (MA), highlighting the characteristics of the management of the creation and the preponderant socioeconomic aspects involving the activity. For this, eight goat farmers from four villages in the municipality of Anajatuba-MA were interviewed. A pre-structured questionnaire was used with data associated with the owner, property, herd, general management and commercialization of the products. Data were tabulated and presented as percentage averages. The results showed a production chain based on subsistence, with a prevalence of men with an average age of 46 years and low level of education, without planning and technological resources, prevalence of the extensive system of creation dedicated to meat exploitation, with deficient sanitary and reproductive management. There is an inefficiency in the complex that forms the dynamism of the goat production chain in the municipality of Anajatuba-MA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CALCIUM cyanamide , *GRAPE quality , *HYDROGEN production , *GRAPES , *GERMINATION , *BERRIES , *GRAPE growing , *CLIMBING plants - Abstract
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different doses of hydrogen cyanamide on the induction of sprouting and on the productive indexes of the vine 'Grano D'Oro' (Vitis labrusca L.) in the North Plateau of Santa Catarina. The experiment was carried out in the 2020, in a vineyard of 'Grano D'Oro'. The treatments consisted of the application of the following doses of hydrogen cyanamide: 0% (control), 2% 4% and 6% hydrogen cyanamide. It was evaluated: % sprouting, production, productivity, number of branches plant-1, fertility index and technological maturation. The application of hydrogen cyanamide, regardless of the applied dose (2, 4 or 6%) resulted in an increase in sprouted buds (%). As a result of the higher percentage of sprouting and the higher number of bunches per plant, a positive effect of the application of hydrogen cyanamide on production (kg plant-1) and productivity (ton hectare-1) was observed. Regarding the fertility index, it was found that the application of hydrogen cyanamide did not affect this variable. The technological maturation of the berries of the 'Grano D'Oro' vine was not influenced by the application of hydrogen cyanamide. In this context, it is concluded that the application of hydrogen cyanamide is recommended in the 'Grano D'Oro' vine grown in the North Plateau of Santa Catarina, resulting in an increase in production rates, without compromising the quality of the grape. The Brazilian peasantry needs ways of reproduction for its survival and then stays in the lots of rural settlements that are territorialized. In that, family work becomes an important element for its maintenance, in the face of the advance of capitalism in the countryside. The production in the peasant territory is important for its subsistence and then the commercialization of its products, in which fairs are one of the main instruments for the realization of the peasant market. Thus, the purpose of this work is to present the relationship between the settlers of PA São Judas, PA Margarida Alves and PA Silvio Rodrigues in Rio Brilhante, with the fairs in this municipality and in Maracaju in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. These fairs have become important, as they add value to the final income of peasants who produce and sell vegetables, tubers, fruits, etc. seeking through this market to improve the quality of life and stay in the territory conquered through the struggle of the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra. - Abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate the property and appropriation associated with the production of space in Pinheirinho neighbourhood – Alfenas/MG. The investigation about the production os space requires mobilization in triads based upon categories and concepts. The triads allow us in interpretating the relationships between production and reproduction in the neighborhood, highlighted by the strong presence of the real estate sector and the State, which take action for valorization of urban land. Another aspect that was revealed was the use at the level of survival of the residents. The methodological procedures adopted are based on bibliographical review; semi-estructured based interviews by the neighborhood’s residents and surroundings, councilors, mayor, city officials and merchants; statistical data survey, cartographic and photographic. - Abstract
The present study investigated the correlation between second-language (L2) proficiency and phonological development within a longitudinal frame. Five Brazilian learners of English participated in two data collection sessions with a seven-month interval. Participants completed a paragraph reading task containing several instances of two nasals and a rhotic coda in word-final position, namely, /m n ɹ/. Proficiency was measured via experienced English teachers' ratings of an image description task. Results revealed cross-linguistic influences on coda production with vowel nasalization and deletion of the nasal codas, as well as frication and deletion of the rhotic coda. /ɹ/ was the segment that displayed considerable improvement over time. Statistical analyses unveiled a strong, significant relationship between proficiency and accuracy scores, but this relationship was not significant in the final data collection. The development of the phonological categories at issue seems to have occurred independently of participants' oral proficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of growing season and nitrogen doses on the pickling cucumber. This work was carried out in a greenhouse at the Federal Institute of Goiás (IF Goiano) - Campus Urutaí. A randomized block design in a 2 x 5 factorial scheme with four replications was used. Two growing seasons (the first sown in January and second in April) and five nitrogen doses (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 kg ha-1 of N) were evaluated. The seed of pickling cucumber used was the Kybria F1 hybrid. Nitrogen doses were applied at 15, 30, and 45 days after plant emergence. Each plot was composed of 10 plants, and the four central plants of each plot with a spacing of 0.2 m between plants and 0.8 m between rows were evaluated. Leaf nitrogen content, relative chlorophyll index, stem diameter, length and diameter of fruits, fresh and dry matter of fruits, the fresh matter of shoot, number of fruits, and yield per plant were evaluated. The growing seasons and nitrogen doses influenced the productive traits of the cucumber crop. The first growing season of the cucumber crop shows satisfactory results in terms of yield components at a dose of 100 kg ha-1 of nitrogen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
