Search

The research looks at how the multicultural paradigm influences one's experience and what is the da'wah strategy in dealing with a multicultural society? To conduct this research, the researcher uses a mixed method research (qualitative and quantitative) which aims to combine two methods at once in order to obtain more comprehensive, valid, reliable and objective data. The subjects and objects of this research are students from 3 high schools in Rejang Lebong, Curup city, namely SMAN 1, SMAN 2 and SMAN Xaverius. The results of the research show that the portrait of the paradigm of experience High school students in Rejang Lebong have high enough confidence to consistently interact and adapt to differences. In fact, it is not only considered a luxury, but is interpreted as a necessity where they cannot avoid religious differences. This has implications for their multicultural behavior where they are able to be smart in responding to differences. In this context, the experience of students' multicultural behavior has a very good level of religious and cultural moderation. Of course, this is based on the cultivation of a formal and non-formal understanding of multiculturalism. This study found several strategies that were obtained in order to be able to carry out religious and cultural moderation in a multicultural society including: planting an understanding of the value of tolerance through an educational approach (crosscultural education) to develop universal values that can be accepted by different groups of people, cultural approaches and language, as well as approaches through socio-religious psychology.

The research of this population are all employees of Bank Danamon Cluster padang, while being sampled is 110 people respondents searched for using the formula Yamane. types and data sources used are primary data by means of questionnaires, further spread the use of secondary data. For testing data analysis using structural eqution model (SEM) through the course of AMOS while for testing the influence of variable pemediasi used sobel test. In accordance with the hypothesis testing on the model structure found that leadership style has no effect on performance is significant. Fourth, it was found that the leadership style of influential significantly to job satisfaction. Fifth, it was found that organizational culture effect significantly to job satisfaction. Purpose Polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) is a subtype of age-related macular degeneration that is seen frequently in Asians. Nevertheless, it is rare for this condition to be combined with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). The purpose of this paper is to present findings from this rare combination in a Japanese patient, and to describe its successful treatment with intravitreal aflibercept (IVA). Observations The patient was a 71-year-old Japanese woman with RP (diagnosed at the age of 30) and PCV. She noticed a decrease in vision in her right eye 6 months previously. Decimal best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 0.05 in her right eye. Optical coherence tomography and indocyanine green angiography (IA) revealed serous retinal detachment (SRD) and PCV in her right eye. The SRD was initially resolved after 3 monthly treatments with IVA, but recurrences began 5 months later, requiring four more treatments with IVA, performed about every 4 months within the next 12 months, for successful resolution. There were no recurrences of PCV in 7 more months of follow-up, as confirmed with IA at the final appointment. Final decimal BCVA in the right eye improved to 0.15. Furthermore, macular retinal sensitivity, measured with microperimetry, increased after the treatment, and RP-related visual field narrowing, determined by Goldmann perimetry, did not progress throughout follow up of 26 months. Conclusion More than 2 years of follow up showed that IVA may be effective for treating PCV, even in RP patients, and can increase central visual function without causing progression of RP-related visual field narrowing.

Introduction Elongated styloid process syndrome represents a group of symptoms, such as recurrent throat pain and neck pain, caused by elongation of the styloid process. We report a case of elongated styloid process syndrome with prolongation of the superior cornu of the thyroid cartilage. Case presentation A 50-year-old man was referred to our clinic with the chief complaint of discomfort on the right side of his neck. He had no history of any disease. Extraoral findings indicated pain during neck rotation. Computed tomography showed prolongation of the styloid process beyond the mandibular plane and close to the hyoid. Moreover, prolongation of the superior cornu of the thyroid cartilage was detected. The discomfort during rotation of the neck was due to the stimulation by the styloid process. Styloid resection was performed using the extraoral approach under general anesthesia. Conclusion Discomfort in the neck was resolved after operation., Highlights • Elongated styloid process syndrome represents a group of symptoms. • Morphological anomalies or deviations of the thyroid cartilage may cause swallowing discomfort. • Oral and extraoral methods are used as surgical techniques for styloid hyperplasia. • There have been no reports of styloid process prolongation with hypertrophic thyroid cartilage. • There are few reports concerning the prolongation of the superior cornu of the thyroid cartilage.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara intrapreneurial self-capital dan kecerdasan emosional terhadap self-perceived employability pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir dengan jumlah partisipan sebanyak 327 orang, baik dari program sarjana ataupun diploma. Data diperoleh menggunakan metode survei dan teknik pengambilan sampel berupa accidental sampling. Alat pengambilan data berupa Intrapreneurial Self-Capital Scale , skala Trait Emotional Questionnaire Short-Form dan Self-Perceived Employability Scale . Analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji korelasi sederhana. Hasil dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan moderat antara intrapreneurial self-capital dan kecerdasan emosional terhadap self-perceived employability .

This article aims to determine the form of Shift's religious expression and the factor of the Shift community's interest in the context of cyberreligion. The research method is qualitative with the type of phenomenological research. There are 5 research subjects (subscribers) and the research object of the YouTube channel Shift. The interactive model analysis technique of Miles & Huberman from the results of data collection that the authors get. The results showed that the phenomenon of cyberreligion has touched various circles and was used by Ust. Hanan Attaki by establishing a Shift which targets the younger generation in the form of online religion. The use of YouTube as a means of spreading Shift's da'wah is categorized into the File-Sharing category. The study, which is nicely packaged by Ust. Hanan Attaki, has made it loved by the younger generation as an alternative in their religious information.

Purpose: Seatbelt use during pregnancy is important to improve maternal and fetal survival after motor vehicle collisions. However, because the rear seatbelt of a motor vehicle tends to make contact with the neck, even if it is adequately used, some pregnant women sitting in the rear seat opt not to fasten the belt. The purpose of this study is to explore seatbelt-neck contact for pregnant women sitting in the rear seat of a motor vehicle. Methods: We carried out an anthropometric study. Japanese women who were ≥30 weeks pregnant (n = 12) sat in the left side of the rear seat of a typical mid-size passenger sedan and fastened the seatbelt. Seating posture was investigated by measuring the coordinates of the anthropometric data points of the pregnant women (head, shoulder, hip joint, and knee joint). The belt path was analyzed by measuring the clearance between the belt and the sternum or navel. Results: Among the 12 pregnant women at 33.9 week ± 3.3 week gestation, the shoulder belt deviated to the right side and subsequently contacted to the neck in four pregnant women (Contact group). The height of the Contact group was significantly shorter than that of Non-contact group (152.3 cm ± 3.0 cm vs. 159.0 cm ± 3.3 cm, p = 0.008). Regarding the relative position of the seatbelt to the subject's body, the distances from the top of the sternum to the center of the shoulder belt were significantly shorter in Contact group (3.9 cm ± 3.5 cm) than that in the Non-contact group (8.0 cm ± 1.6 cm, p = 0.03). However, no significant difference was found for the distance from the umbilicus to the center of the lap belt. Conclusion: Our findings show that because of short height and late term of pregnancy with protrusion of the abdomen, the shoulder belt deviates to the right or left, avoiding the protruded uterus, and subsequently makes contact with the neck. Seatbelt systems for rear seats need to be developed to improve passenger safety, especially for pregnant women. Key words: Pregnant women; Rear seat; Seatbelt; Anthropometry; Motor vehicles

This paper presents circuit design techniques for reducing the effects of magnetic flux, occurred from the planar transformer, on gallium nitride high-electron-mobility transistors (GaN-HEMTs) in 5-MHz 100-W high power-density LLC resonant dc–dc converters. For investigating the effects of magnetic flux on a GaN-HEMT, power device model for finite element method (FEM) simulation is proposed. In order to confirm the validity of the model, the quantitative evaluation is conducted with FEM simulation, and experiment using evaluation boards. Moreover, the optimization of printed circuit board layout is considered using the verified model with FEM simulation, for reducing the effects of magnetic flux on GaN-HEMTs while reducing the area of converter. In the experiments, 5-MHz 48 V/12 V 100 W unregulated LLC resonant dc–dc converter with efficient power conversion GaN-HEMTs is built as the prototype to verify the optimized layout. The maximum power efficiency can be achieved 91.28%, and the power density can be achieved 32 W/cm3.

Corneal transplantation is a safe, reliable method of restoring visual acuity in patients with corneal disorders. Although it has a very high success rate, rejection can still occur, especially if the site is infected. Therefore, seeking to find better ways to manage infection risk, this study investigated a new technique, based on multiplex polymerase chain reaction (mPCR), to identify pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, and fungi, in corneal transplantation recipient sites, donor corneas and the donor cornea storage solution. The subjects comprised 50 patients who underwent corneal transplantation at Tohoku University Hospital between July 2014 and April 2015. We obtained extracted (recipient) cornea samples in 37 cases, donor cornea samples in 50 cases, and corneal storage solution samples in 50 cases (18 of these 50 samples contained DNA). Herpes simplex virus type 1 DNA was detected in four recipient corneas, Parvovirus B19 DNA was detected in two recipient corneas, Human herpes virus type 6 was detected in two donor corneas, and Aspergillus DNA was detected in one corneal storage solution sample. Thus, mPCR successfully identified pathogenic DNA in corneal tissues and storage solution, suggesting that evaluation with mPCR may improve the ability to predict the risk of infection after corneal transplantation.

Environmental stressors during developmental stages are hypothesized to increase the risk of developing metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and psychiatric diseases during later life. This theory is known as the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD). Recent studies suggest that accumulation of environmental stress, including those during developmental stages, is internalized as acquired information designated as "epigenetic memory." This epigenetic memory is generally indicated as DNA methylation and histone modifications in the chromatin. In general, the demethylation of CpG islands induces histone acetylation and associated changes from heterochromatin to euchromatin, and enhances transcriptional activation. These changes are induced by the binding of transcriptional factors to cis-elements located on promoter and enhancer regions and the associated binding of histone acetyl-transferase and the transcription initiation complex. Recent studies have demonstrated novel epigenetic modifications that regulate transcription elongation steps by activating histone acetylation and bromodomain-containing protein 4, which contains two bromodomains to bind acetylated histones, on the gene body (transcribed region). Gene expression alterations induced by carbohydrate signals and by changes in energy balance in the body are regulated by this model. In addition, induction of many metabolic genes, which are induced or reduced in adulthood by malnutrition during developmental stages, by intake of major nutrients, or development of lifestyle diseases in adulthood, are targeted by these novel epigenetic changes. In the present review, we introduce epigenetic regulations and the relationship with nutrient intake, and discuss links between epigenetic regulation and the development of metabolic diseases according to DOHaD.

Purpose: To describe a technique suitable for treating severely angulated (>75°) necks during endovascular aneurysm repair using the Endurant stent-graft. Technique: In the push-up technique, the suprarenal stent is released early to fix the proximal stent-graft in place so that each stent in the neck can be deployed individually without displacing the device upward. It is important to push the delivery system up after each stent deployment to allow the fabric between the stents to fold up circumferentially. By doing so, there is minimal upward force applied to the suprarenal stent. Because the stents expand along the angulated neck while catching blood flow, this anatomical deployment is feasible, with hardly any change to the proximal neck shape after stent-graft implantation. Conclusion: The push-up technique and anatomical deployment with the Endurant stent-graft system are effective and safe methods for treating aneurysms with severely angulated necks.

In bone regeneration, there are some important cellular biological processes, such as mineralization, cell organization, and differentiation. In particular, vascularization into regenerative tissues is a key step for the survival of cells and tissues. In this study, to fabricate biomimetic-engineered bone, including vascular networks, we focused on connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), a multifunctional protein which could regulate the extracellular matrix remodeling. By combination with CTGF and hydroxyapatite (HAp) ceramics (2D) or apatite-fiber scaffold (AFS, 3D), we have fabricated bioactive materials. The CTGF-loaded HAp ceramics could enhance the cellular attachment through interaction with integrin and promote actin cytoskeletal reorganization. CTGF-loaded HAp also enhanced the differentiation of osteoblasts by integrin-mediated activation of the signaling pathway. Under co-culture conditions, both osteoblasts and endothelial cells in the CTGF-loaded AFS were stimulated by CTGF, and each cell could penetrate the central region of the scaffold in vitro and in vivo. Direct cell-cell interaction would also improve the functionality of cells in bone formation. These results suggest that coupling between effective optimized scaffold and CTGF with multifunction could provide better mimicking natural bone by stimulation of angiogenesis.

Purpose To report a case of severe bilateral necrotizing herpes simplex keratitis (HSK) in an immunocompetent patient, with genotyping of the underlying herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1). Methods Genetic analyses of HSV-1 in tear samples were performed with polymerase chain reaction-based restriction fragment length polymorphism, targeting the viral genes unique short (US)2, US4 (glycoprotein G), and US7 (glycoprotein I). Results A 64-year-old woman with no history of atopy or immune disorders manifested bilateral keratitis with geographic ulcer. Her initial visual acuity was 20/1000 (OD) and 20/20 (OS). Polymerase chain reaction testing of a tear sample revealed the presence of HSV-1 in both eyes, and the patient was diagnosed with bilateral HSK. Both eyes progressed to necrotizing keratitis during the treatment course. Continuous intensive treatment, at first with acyclovir ointment and oral valacyclovir and later with steroid eye drops for stromal keratitis, finally improved the patient's condition. However, after 2 years, her visual acuity was limited to 20/250 (OD) and 20/60 (OS) because of corneal opacity from scarring. We found that the strain in the current case had a genotype combination of C/A/B (for US2/US4/US7), a known pattern in Japan, in both eyes. Conclusions We successfully performed an unprecedented genetic analysis of an HSV-1 strain isolated from a case of bilateral necrotizing HSK in an immunocompetent patient. The association of the HSV-1 genotype with the clinical manifestation remains unclear, calling for more data from new cases, especially from different geographic regions.

Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the rate-controlling enzyme for the accumulation of triacylglycerol into adipocytes, which acts by digesting it into glycerol and fatty acids. In this study, we found that treatment with (+)-JQ1, an inhibitor of the bromodomain and extra-terminal (BET) family proteins, for 4 days from the end of stimulation to induce adipocyte differentiation reduced binding of BRD4, a BET family member, within the gene body of Lpl. This eventually downregulated the expression of Lpl in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Longer treatment for 8 days reduced the acetylation of histones H3 and H4 within the gene body of Lpl and subsequent Lpl expression. Lpl expression in mesenteric adipose tissues was lower in Brd4+/- heterozygous mice at 14 days after birth than in wild-type mice at the same age. Furthermore, treatment with an inducer of insulin resistance, tumor necrosis factor-α, reduced BRD4 binding and histone acetylation in the gene body of Lpl and its expression. These results indicate that transcriptional elongation of Lpl controlled by BRD4 may be associated with adipocyte differentiation, and that its suppression is potentially associated with insulin resistance of adipocytes.

Foods reducing postprandial hyperglycemia could suppress the postprandial blood glucose response after the next meal (a "second-meal" effect). However, the second-meal effect of refined barley flour bread has not been evaluated. The aim of this study is to determine whether consumption of refined barley flour bread reduces postprandial glucose concentrations after this and the subsequent meal.We enrolled 23 healthy young Japanese adults and conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study. The participants consumed refined barley flour bread containing 2.5 g β-glucan or refined wheat flour bread in a first meal, then consumed three rice balls as a second meal. Their postprandial blood glucose concentrations were measured 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, and 120 min after both meals. Participants with fasting glucose concentrations above the diagnostic threshold for diabetes were excluded.The blood glucose concentration 30 min after the first meal was significantly lower (P0.05) if refined barley flour bread (7.1 ± 1.0 mmol/L) rather than refined wheat flour bread (7.7 ± 1.2 mmol/L) was consumed. Significantly lower glucose concentrations after the second meal measured at 60 (P0.05, barley flour bread: 8.7 ± 1.8 mmol/L, wheat flour bread: 9.3 ± 1.7 mmol/L) and 90 min (P0.01, barley flour bread: 7.8 ± 1.4 mmol/L, wheat flour bread: 8.8 ± 2.1 mmol/L) were lower in participants who had previously consumed the refined barley flour bread.Consumption of bread made with refined barley flour lowers postprandial blood glucose concentration after this and a subsequent meal compared with the consumption of refined wheat flour bread in healthy young Japanese adults.

We recently reported that a treatment with tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA), a secondary bile acid, improved developmentally-deteriorated hepatic steatosis in an undernourishment (UN, 40% caloric restriction) in utero mouse model after a postnatal high-fat diet (HFD). We performed a microarray analysis and focused on two genes (Cidea and Cidec) because they are enhancers of lipid droplet (LD) sizes in hepatocytes and showed the greatest increases in expression by UN that were completely recovered by TUDCA, concomitant with parallel changes in LD sizes. TUDCA remodeled developmentally-induced histone modifications (di-methylation of H3K4, H3K27, or H3K36), but not DNA methylation, around the Cidea and Cidec genes, leading to a heterochromatin structure, which contributed to the markedly down-regulated expression of their genes as well as hepatic fat deposition in UN pups only, even those under HFD. These results provide an insight into the future of precision medicine for developmentally-programmed hepatic steatosis by targeting chromatin reconstitution. The purpose of this manuscript is twofold: (i) to provide a family of inequalities that unifies the hypercontractivity and its exponential variant of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroup; and (ii) to reveal a connection between the above-mentioned family and a family of Phi-entropy inequalities.

Tropical countries are important to conservation because of the threats to the high levels of biodiversity there, but research on conservation science in these mostly developing countries has traditionally been written by foreigners. This disconnect could have serious implications for the practice of conservation, as local scientists can be more effective than foreigners in interacting with practitioners or pushing forward conservation action themselves. These scientists' careers are strengthened by participation in the international literature, and their knowledge about conservation's success in their country provides necessary feedback to the theoretical literature. We assess the past and current status of geographic diversity in the international conservation literature, over 30 years and in comparison to other fields, as well as present acceptance rate data from prominent journals, broken down by the country of corresponding authorship. While the proportion of articles in all fields contributed by low and medium income countries increases over time, the percentage of conservation articles contributed by corresponding authors from low income countries is actually declining. Manuscripts by authors from low income countries were less than half as likely to be published as those from high income countries. We present a list of specific policies that journals can implement to reverse these trends, such as having regional editors, providing editing assistance, waiving fees, and seeking locally focused studies from which globally relevant strategies and lessons can be drawn. We also stress that long-term the problem can best be addressed by funding educational institutions that develop young researchers in the tropics.

application/pdf, Although vitrification and follicular survival subsequent to xenotransplantation of canine ovarian tissues have been reported, the degree of cryoinjury after the vitrification has not yet been fully examined. Since cryoinjury after vitrification of ovaries has been reported in bovine and humans, this study evaluated canine ovarian tissues after vitrification by immunohistochemistry and TUNEL assay. Ovaries were collected from immature bitches. The ovarian tissue cubes were pretreated with 1 M DMSO. Subsequently, DAP 213 solution (2 M DMSO, 1 M acetamide, 3 M propylene glycol) was added. The cryotubes containing the ovarian tissues were placed on ice for 5 min, then plunged directly into liquid nitrogen. After warming with 0.25 M sucrose, cryopreserved ovarian tissues were fixed and subsequently stained with hematoxylin-eosin, proliferation cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) antibody, or active caspase-3 (AC-3) antibody, and evaluated by the TUNEL assay. There were no differences in the numbers of primordial, primary, secondary and antral follicles/mm2 between the fresh and vitrified-warmed ovarian tissues. Percentages of PCNA and AC-3 antibody positive cells were similar regardless of the developmental stage of the follicles and experimental group. A few TUNEL positive cells were detected in both experimental groups. These results suggest that vitrification with DAP213 does not induce cryoinjury in ovarian tissues from immature bitches. c 2016 Japan Society for Ova Research.

Mes SAD Kabupaten Musi Rawas Utara ini memiliki peseta didik yang majemuk baik golongan maupun agama dimana mayoritas berasal dari dusun Kerta Dewa, Pulau Kidak, Sungai Kijang, Sungai Jernih, Nibung, Muara Tiku dan Tebing Tinggi. Juga terdapat mayoritas penganut agama Islam dan Kristen. Dengan kemajemukan diatas menjadikan Mes SAD lebih baik dalam berkomunikasi antara sesama dan menghargai kearifan-kearifan lokal, sehingga secara efektif dapat menghindarkan adanya benturan ataupun konflik antar kelompok masyarakat Mes SAD.Pada bidang budaya anak-anak Mes SAD menjaga dan menjunjung tinggi budaya dan adat istiadat yang diwarisi oleh para leluhur, hal ini terbukti masih berlakunya tatanan budaya yakni pencak silat, tari adat suku anak dalam dan laiannya.Dengan dibentuknya kelompok pencak silat dan tari pada anak-anak mes SAD, semakin menggambarkan pelestarian budaya, tentunya yang tidak bertentangan dengan agama dan hukum negara.Dalam aspek keagamaan Mes SAD mempunyai peserta didik yang heterogen dilihat dari agama dan keyakinan mereka. Secara kuantitas penganut Islam merupakan mayoritas dari peserta didik, akan tetapi komunikasi antar penganut agama terpelihara dan berjalan dengan baik. Perkembangan pembangunan di bidang spiritual dapat dilihat dari sarana peribadatan masing-masing agama. Oleh karena itu, adanya perbedaan agama antar masing-masing peserta didik di Mes SAD menjadi hal penting untuk mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi antar umat beragama yang dalam hal ini antara non muslim dan agama Islam. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian Lapangan (field research) yaitu penelitian yang pengumpulan datanya dilakukan di lapangan.Dalam hal ini dilakukan di Mes SAD Kabupaten Muratara.Metode dalam penelitian dipakai dalam penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif kualitatif.
