BACKGROUND-AIM: In this retrospective matched cohort study, we aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of EMDCT including therapy receiving cases with MIDCT receiving CRKPI cases. MATERIALS/METHODS: This study was performed at a 1800+ bedded tertiary-care hospital.Adult patients with culture proven CRKPI(bacteremia,pneumonia,UTI,other)treated with EMDCT or MIDCT including regimens between August 2016 and October 2023 were included in the study.Matching was performed as one MIDCT matched to minimum 1 or 2 EMDCT when n is possible i)according to the sample infecting strain was yielded (bacteremia vs.bacteremia etc.)ii)being in the clinic or intensive care unit at the time of the first Infectious Diseases consultation. RESULTS: MIDCT was used in the ertapenem unavailable period in pan-resistant cases.A total of 140 patients (51 female, aged 64,59±13,46),80 cases in ECDCT group and 60 cases in MIDCT group diagnosed with CRKPN bacteremia(32 cases), pneumonia(34 cases), UTI(48 cases), other(26 cases) were included in the study.All isolates were resistant to ertapenem. Age, gender, duration of therapy, microbiological success, end of therapy clinical success, all cause day-30 mortality in the overall or only double carbapenem or those with any additional antibiotic cohorts as well as UTI and pneumonia subgroups did not differ significantly between two cohorts (Table-1).Prolonged infusion cases were significantly more and OMM in non-bacteremia/pneumonia/UTI cases in wards were significantly less in MIDCT subgroup.However, there was no significant difference in the same subgroup of ICU cases. CONCLUSIONS: Although the number of cases is relatively low and non-randomized, EMDCT and MIDCT containing therapy resulted in similar outcomes in our matched cohort study.

AIM: We aimed to evaluate the septic shock(SS) cases in terms of mortality and effecting variables for outcomes. BACKGROUND: Despite advancements and the early implementation of targeted therapies,sepsis-related mortality remains high. Invasive fungal infections are important causes of mortality and morbidity in immunodeficiencies, hematological malignancies, and transplant recipients. There is scarce information in the literature about the diagnosis, treatment methods, and management. Herein, a unique involvement site of invasive fungal infection caused by Aspergillus flavus in the nadir of the induction chemotherapy of a 13-year-old boy with the diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia is presented. Despite prolonged intravenous antifungal therapy, the patient exhibited an inadequate response. As a result, intra-articular antifungal treatment was implemented alongside curettage and joint space irrigation. These additional interventions led to significantly improved clinical outcomes. Since fungal osteomyelitis can be an important cause of mortality and morbidity in immunosuppressed patients, prompt diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment are crucial.

Integrating different land uses within a geographic area is essential to urban planning and development. Accurate and fast land use mix (LUM) measurement is necessary for evaluating urban diversity and sustainability. In this paper, we present landusemix, a Python package developed to calculate LUM using two distinct indices: the Entropy Index and the Herfindahl–Hirschman Index (HHI). The landusemix package provides tools for GIS researchers and urban planners to measure the diversity and concentration of land use. Detailed descriptions of the methodologies employed and examples of practical usage are provided. Researchers can use this package to calculate LUM quickly and in bulk, and its results can be easily incorporated into further analysis.

Background It is unclear whether different exercise programs lead to an increase in the concentration of plasma Pentraxin3 (PTX3), an anti-inflammatory protein. This study aimed to investigate the effects of aerobic exercise (AE) and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on plasma PTX3 levels in overweight and obese women. Method A total of 45 sedentary women aged between 32.26 ± 6.30 voluntarily participated in the study. The control group (CG, n = 15) was selected among normal-weight women. Women in the group of participants who partook in exercise consisted of overweight and obese women according to a random method, including the AE group (n = 15) and the HIIT group (n = 15). The AE session conducted was 50 min in duration and consisted of warm-up exercises (5 min), and primary exercises (40 min, basic aerobic-step exercises). HIIT consists of warm-up exercises (5 min), primary exercises (work intervals: 6−10 × 1 min (80–90% HRmax), rest intervals: 1 min (walk, 50% HRmax), 21–29 min running. The exercises were applied for three sessions/week for 12 weeks. Fasting blood samples were taken from all participants before and after exercise and their body composition was measured. Results As a result of two different 12-week exercises, serum PTX3 levels increased significantly by 47.53% in the AE group and 50.21% in the HIIT group (p .05). Also, no significant differences were found between the two types of exercises in terms of parameters. A significant negative correlation in the total sample was found between PTX3 with BMI, fat mass, LDL-C, and hsCRP. Conclusion The percentage change in PTX3 values was not different between exercise types, whereas PTX3 was increased with exercise, regardless of the type of exercise. It can be said that both aerobic and HIIT increase PTX3, VO2max levels and improve lipid metabolism in overweight and obese women.

ABSTRACT This study investigated the impact of housing environment on performance parameters of the Lohmann LSL Classic (LW) and Lohmann Sandy (LS) strains. The deep litter (DL), free access to outdoor Mentha piperita (MP), Petroselinum crispum (PC), and Medicago sativa (MS) housing environments were examined. A total of 260 four-week-old birds were randomly allotted to DL and outdoor plant-associated groups, with four and three replicates, respectively, and 10 birds per replicate. Data collection for weekly feed intake began at 4 weeks until the end of the study. Weekly hen weights were measured from 4 weeks of age until the age of 50% egg production; and then later, at 52 weeks of age. ABSTRACT This study determined the effect of layer age, egg-laying time, cage tier, and cage direction (outward-inward) on egg quality parameters of commercial layer chickens reared in enriched cages. A total of 944 layers (approximately 100 eggs every four weeks, from the 26 to the 58th week) obtained from Lohmann LSL-Classic layers reared at the Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Ayhan Şahenk Agricultural Application and Research Centre were analyzed. Goblet cell adenocarcinoma (GCA) of the appendix is a rare and aggressive neoplasm characterized by goblet-like mucinous cells. Due to its rarity, there is limited data on its clinical course and management. Typically diagnosed incidentally or when mimicking acute appendicitis, GCAs require careful management to mitigate the risk of disseminated disease. This report discusses a case involving a 64-year-old man diagnosed with low-grade GCA, including the diagnostic workup, treatment approach, and outcomes. The management strategies parallel those for colorectal cancer, with potential benefits from cytoreductive surgery and intraperitoneal chemotherapy. The aim of this report is to enrich the knowledge base and offer insights into optimal management strategies.

In this study, it was investigated how the reading skills of students who were in the 3rd grade of primary school when the COVID-19 pandemic started (March 2020) were affected at the end of the fourth grade (June 2021) due to the school closure during the pandemic. The study employed the longitudinal survey model. Ten teachers and 18 primary school students participated in the study. In the study, the Informal Reading Inventory and interview questions were used as data collection tools. The data of the study were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and content analysis. According to the findings obtained from the analyses, the percentage of students' word recognition increased partially, the reading speed did not increase sufficiently considering their age and grade level, the number of correct words they read was negatively affected during the pandemic, and the reading prosody remained stable and did not show a significant difference. These results show that students' reading skills were negatively affected by the pandemic. In addition, it was concluded in the study that more reading time should be given to students in order to improve their fluent reading and reading comprehension skills, and that verbal/silent reading activities should be done more frequently. It is thought that the study will contribute to the field in terms of improving students' reading skills during the pandemic and will provide original examples for future research.

We examined the pathway from grandparental childcare support at age 3 to child social and emotional outcomes at age 7 through maternal mental health and mother-child relationship at age 3 in a sample of n = 1495 biological mothers and their children from the UK's Millennium Cohort Study. Structural equation modelling showed that time spent in the care of grandparents at age 3 was not associated with the child's social and emotional outcomes at age 7 via maternal psychological distress or mother-child conflict and mother-child closeness. Maternal psychological distress at age 3 was associated with poor child social and emotional outcomes at age 7 both directly and indirectly via mother-child conflict and mother-child closeness. In the early years, grandparental childcare, as primary form of childcare arrangement, may not be significantly associated with maternal mental wellbeing or parenting capacity, which are both beneficial for child socioemotional development.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of intestinal parasites and head lice in primary school-aged children and to determine a possible relationship between the co-occurrence of ecto-endoparasitesMethods:The study were conducted in three schools in the center of Sivas: Sivas Karşıyaka Primary School, Kılavuz İMKB Primary School, and Karşıyaka 27 June Middle School. The presence of head lice and intestinal parasites was investigated in a total of 563 children aged 6 to 17, with 294 girls and 269 boys. Classroom teachers and students were provided with information about intestinal parasites, head lice, and methods of transmission and prevention, and a questionnaire was administered. During the head lice examination, students were inspected with a comb, and samples with nits were examined under a microscope in the laboratory. Cellophane tape and stool samples obtained from the participants were examined on the same day using the native-lugol, flotation, and trichrome staining methods under a light microscope (x10, x40, x100). Results: Five hundred sixty-three children were evaluated for head lice and 15 (2.6%) were found to be positive. During the examination, only nits were found in 11 students (1.9%), and both adult lice and nymphs were seen in 4 students (0.7%). In this study, the applicability of the Sustainable Forest Management socio-economic functions criterion was investigated together with the forestry studies in Muğla, Isparta and Antalya Regional Directorates of Forestry in the West Mediterranean Region. The study group of the research consisted of 117 forest engineers working in the West Mediterranean Region. In the research, a survey form consisting of 9 sections was applied to determine the opinions of engineers. To analyze the data obtained, with the help of the Statistical Package 28.0 program for Social Sciences; frequency and percentage, mean, t test (independent samples t test) was used for pairwise group comparisons, and one-way analysis of variance (one way anova) was used for comparisons of more than two groups. If a significant difference was found between the groups as a result of one-way analysis of variance, Tukey HSD (multiple comparisons) tests were applied to determine which groups caused the differences. According to the study results, engineers find the criterion very important. Levels of knowledge and awareness about the measure are high, but the perceived difficulty of measurement is high. For these reasons, studies should be carried out to increase the measurability level of the Criterion, standards should be developed, especially in social content indicators, and monitoring studies should be continued.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the causes and prevalence of elective surgery cancellations in the operating room, and the clinical outcomes of affected patients. Methods: This prospective, cross-sectional study assessed the prevalence and causes of elective surgery cancellations once patients are in the operating room. A tertiary academic referral center hosted the study between January 2022 and January 2023. The study sample consisted of 7,482 adult patients scheduled for elective surgeries and taken to the operating room. The 7,415 completed procedures were in Group 2, whereas the 67 cancelled surgeries were in Group 1. Patients were divided into two groups on the basis of whether their surgeries were completed or cancelled. Factors such as age, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) status, and surgical department were analyzed. The two groups were compared on the basis of age, ASA status, surgical department, and surgery time (month and day). All countries have been deeply affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, both economically and in situations that strain health systems, such as workforce and workload. Therefore, various measures should be taken to control the disease and prevent its spread. Since the disease onset, real-time PCR tests have been used as the gold standard for disease diagnosis. Owing to the rapid progress of the pandemic and the spread of the disease, validation, consistency, and optimization tests of some commercial kits have been conducted directly in the field. Therefore, it is important to compare the results of these kits and improve the existing ones.

Background: Postdural puncture headache is a headache that occurs after a dura puncture, especially in caesarean sections, and afects patient comfort and mobilization. In this study, we compared the efects of pencil-tipped spinal needles and especially curved, bilateral atraumatic spinal needles in individuals undergoing elective caesarean sections. Methods: A total of 886 patients, aged 20–50 years, who had cesarean sections with spinal anesthesia and had American Society of Anesthesiologists II and III scores, were included in the study. The patients were allocated into 3 groups using the closed envelope randomization technique: Group 1 (n=250) received spinal insertions using 25-gauge pencil-point needles; Group 2 (n=245) received spinal insertions using 26-gauge atraumatic needles; and Group 3 (n=250) received spinal insertions using 27-gauge pencil-point needles. Records were kept of the quantity of spinal needle referrals, the type of treatment, the length of hospital stays, and complications. Results: In the study, 745 patients who had cesarean section operations under spinal anesthesia were further analyzed. The mean incidence of post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) was 3.2% (n=24). The incidence of PDPH was higher in group 2 than in group 3 and group 1 (Group 1: 2.8%; Group 2: 6.8%; Group 3: 0%) (P < 0.05). Among other complications, low back, back, shoulder, and surgical complications were similar for all 3 groups. Conclusion: In caesarean section operations, pencil-point spinal needles were found to have a lower incidence of postdural puncture headache than Atraucan-cut needles, regardless of needle thickness.

We examine the current state of the art and the related research on the automated detection and tracking of small objects—or persons—in the context of a person-overboard (POB) scenario and present the associated governing relationship between different technologies, platforms, and approaches as a system of systems. A novel phase model, structuring a POB scenario, comprises three phases: (1) detection, (2) search and track, and (3) rescue. Within these phases, we identify the central areas of responsibility and describe in detail the phases (1) and (2). We emphasize the importance of a high-level representation of different systems and their interactions to comprehensively represent the complexity and dynamics of POB scenarios. Our systematic classification and detailed description of the technologies and methods used provide valuable insights to support future regulatory and research activities. Our primary aim is to advance the development of corresponding technologies and standards.

Background and Objectives: Acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome are both clonal hematologic malignancies that primarily affect older adults. Current treatments for AML/MDS are both limited in number and efficacy. This study aims to evaluate venetoclax-based therapies in AML/MDS, focusing on overall survival and recurrence-free survival rates, and to expand real-world data on its use. Materials and Methods: Clinical and laboratory data on patients with AML/MDS aged 18≥ treated with venetoclax between January 2019 and July 2022 were included. Survival analysis was calculated based on the period from 2019 to December 2023. Results: A total of 161 AML and 40 patients with MDS were included. The median age was 63.53 ± 15.30 years for AML and 70.12 ± 10.21 years for MDS. In both groups, over 55% are male. A total of 77.6% of patients with AML and 75% of patients with MDS received treatment prior to venetoclax. Venetoclax was administered in combination with azacitidine to 84.5% of AML and 67.5% of MDS. The relapse rate in AML is approximately 15%. Overall, the 2-year survival rate is 46% and 18.73 months. The overall CR/CRi rate for patients with AML is 49.1%, while for patients with MDS, it is 50%. The 2-year survival rate for patients with MDS is 52.7%. The 2-year RFS rate was 75.5% for AML and 90.9% for MDS. The relapse rate in AML is approximately 15%. The percentage of adverse events leading to treatment discontinuation among those with grade 3–4 toxicity is low; 26.7% for AML (n = 43) and 15% for MDS (n = 6). Conclusions: Our real-world data demonstrate that venetoclax has the potential to improve overall survival rates when used in combination with HMAs and supports its use in patients with AML/MDS.

The aim of the study is to determine experiences of children attending a preschool class and their teacher about class rules, desirable and undesirable behaviors and strategies followed by the teacher concerning these behaviors. The study is a case study, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The participants were 14 children attending a class for 5 year-olds in an independent kindergarten and the teacher of the class. Semi-structured interview technique was used in the study. In addition, in two of the questions in the interview, the students were asked to draw pictures to help them describe their experiences in more detail. The data in the study were analyzed by content analysis, categorized by coding, and themes and sub-themes were obtained. As a result of the research, it was found that the opinions of the children and their teachers about class rules and undesirable behaviors were in parallel with each other. The study revealed that the experiences of children and the teacher overlap in terms of behaviors and strategies followed by the teacher in response to desirable behaviors. However, it was found that the experiences of children and their teacher differ with regards to the way class rules are determined, and behaviors and strategies followed by the teacher concerning undesirable behaviors.

This research aims to determine the effect of the drama course on the communication skills of prospective primary and preschool teachers. In the research, a one group pretest-posttest model was used before the pilot-test. The research population of the study was 140 third-grade prospective teachers who studied at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Education Primary and Preschool Education program and took drama lessons. Since the entire population was available for research, sampling was intentionally omitted. "Communication Skills Scale" developed by Korkut, Owen and Bugay (2014) was used as the data collection tool in the research. In the data analysis, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used in the comparison of the difference between two pairs in dependent groups. In the comparison of binary groups, Mann Whitney U Test was applied. It was concluded that there was a significant difference in favour of the posttest among the pretest and posttest scores obtained from the "Communication Skills Scale" and its sub-dimensions of the prospective Primary and Pre-school teachers who took the drama course in the research and favour of the female prospective teachers among the pretest and total scores. It is also concluded that there is no significant difference between pretest and posttest score differences between Primary and Preschool prospective teachers.

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the favouritism behaviours of secondary school administrators and organizational commitment of teachers. The research population consists of 3403 teachers from 64 secondary schools in the central district of Diyarbakir/Turkey in the academic year of 2016-2017. The data collection instrument was applied to randomly selected 376 teachers from 22 schools. "Favoutism in the School Management Scale", developed by Erdem and Meric (2012) and three dimensional "Organizational Commitment Scale", developed by Meyer, Allen and Smith (1993) and adapted into Turkish by Dagli, Elçiçek and Han (2017) were used in this research. The arithmetic mean, standard deviation were used in the analysis of data. The relationship between favoritism and organizational commitment behaviour was studied using Spearman Correlation Coefficient. Some important findings obtained in the research can be listed as follows: Teachers participated the overall mean of "Favouritism in the School Management Scale" at "sometimes" level (M=2.86). According to teachers' perceptions, the dimensions with the highest means are in order; (1) Planning (M=3,121; Sometimes), (2) Coordination (M=2,961; Sometimes), (3) Evaluation (M=2, 368; Sometimes) and (4) Organization (M=2,936; Sometimes). Teachers participated the overall mean of "Organizational Commitment Scale" at "not sure" level. According to teachers' perceptions, the dimensions with the highest means related to organizational commitment are in order; (1) Affective commitment (M=3,07; Neutral), (2) Continuance Commitment (M=2,79; Neutral) and (3) Normative Commitment (M= 2,63; Neutral). In the study, a moderate level of negatively significant relationship was found between favouritism behaviours of school administrators and organizational commitment of teachers. (r=-0.359, p < 0.01). The more favouritism behaviours of school administrators are, the less organizatioal commitment of teachers are.
