ABSTRACTThe immunogenicity and safety of the concomitant administration of recombinant COVID-19 vaccine and quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (Split Virion) (QIIV) in Chinese adults are unclear. In this open-label, randomized controlled trial, participants aged ≥ 18 years were recruited. Eligible healthy adults were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive QIIV at the same time as the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine (simultaneous-group) or 14 days after the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine (non-simultaneous-group). The primary outcome was to compare the difference in immunogenicity of QIIV (H1N1, H3N2, Yamagata, and Victoria) between the two groups. A total of 299 participants were enrolled, 149 in the simultaneous-group and 150 in the non-simultaneous-group. There were no significant differences in geometric mean titer (GMT) [H1N1: 386.4 (95%CI: 299.2–499.0) vs. 497.4 (95%CI: 377.5–655.3); H3N2: 66.9 (95%CI: 56.1–79.8) vs. 81.4 (95%CI: 67.9–97.5); Yamagata: 95.6 (95%CI: 79.0–115.8) vs. 74.3 (95%CI: 58.6–94.0); and Victoria: 48.5 (95%CI: 37.6–62.6) vs. 65.8 (95%CI: 49.0–88.4)] and seroconversion rate (H1N1: 87.5% vs. 90.1%; H3N2: 58.1% vs. 62.0%; Yamagata: 75.0% vs. 64.5%; and Victoria: 55.1% vs. 62.8%) of QIIV antibodies between the simultaneous and non-simultaneous groups. For the seroprotection rate of QIIV antibodies, a higher seroprotection rate of Yamagata antibody was observed only in the simultaneous-group than in the non-simultaneous-group [86.0% vs. 76.0%, p = .040]. In addition, no significant difference in adverse events was observed between the two groups (14.2% vs. 23.5%, p = .053). In conclusion, no immune interference or safety concerns were found for concomitant administration of COVID-19 vaccine with QIIV in adults aged ≥ 18 years.

BackgroundInebilizumab is an anti-CD19 antibody approved for the treatment of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) in adults with aquaporin-4 autoantibodies. The relationship between B-cell, plasma-cell (PC), and immunoglobulin depletion with longitudinal reductions in NMOSD activity after inebilizumab treatment was characterised post hoc in an exploratory analysis from the N-MOmentum study (NCT02200770).MethodsPeripheral blood CD20+ B cells, PC gene signature, and immunoglobulin levels were assessed throughout N-MOmentum (follow-up ≥2.5 years); correlations with clinical metrics and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lesion activity were assessed.FindingsInebilizumab induced durable B-cell and PC depletion within 1 week versus placebo. Although no association was observed between B-cell counts at time of attack and NMOSD activity, depth of B-cell depletion after the first dosing period correlated with clinical outcomes. All participants receiving inebilizumab demonstrated a robust long-term therapeutic response, and participants with ≤4 cells/μL after the first 6-month dosing interval had persistently deeper B-cell depletion, lower annualised attack rates (estimated rate [95% CI]: 0.034 [0.024-0.04] vs 0.086 [0.056-0.12]; p = 0.045), fewer new/enlarging T2 MRI lesions (0.49 [0.43-0.56] vs 1.36 [1.12-1.61]; p

ObjectiveThere have been reports of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) coexisting with connective tissue disorders. The objective of this study was to describe the characteristics of NMOSD coexisting with autoimmune diseases (AID).MethodsThis retrospective study evaluated NMOSD patients with and without AID. The enrolled patients had at least one attack, with duration of more than 1 year. Data on the demographics, clinical features, and laboratory findings were assessed. The Poisson model was used to investigate the risk factors associated with the annualized relapse rate (ARR), whereas the Cox model was used to evaluate the risk factors for the first relapse.ResultsA total of 180 patients (154 women and 26 men) with NMOSD were identified: 45 had AID and 135 did not. Female patients had a higher prevalence of concomitant AID (p = 0.006) and a greater relapse rate within the first year. There were no statistically significant differences in the characteristics of patients. Kaplan–Meier analysis revealed that NMOSD patients with seropositive aquaporin 4 antibodies (AQP4-Ab; log-rank: p = 0.044), had a shorter time to relapse. Patients seropositive for AQP4-Ab (HR = 2.402, 95%CI = 1.092–5.283, p = 0.029) had a higher risk of suffering a first relapse, according to the Cox model. Patients with and without AID showed a similar declining tendency in terms of change in ARR throughout the first 5 years of the disease. The ARR was greater in the first year [incidence rate ratio (IRR) = 1.534, 95%CI = 1.111–2.118] and the first 2 years (IRR = 1.474, 95%CI = 1.056–2.058) in patients with coexisting AID diagnosis prior to the NMOSD onset.ConclusionsPatients with NMOSD with coexisting AID had similar characteristics when compared with those without AID. NMOSD patients with AID diagnosed before onset had a higher risk of relapse in the early stage of the disease.

The energy demand has increased significantly in recent years and it is urgent to develop a renewable energy system that is highly efficient and non-noble metal-based. Hydrogen energy is an environmentally friendly energy source with abundant resources, which can be used to solve the problem of high energy demand without greenhouse gas emissions. However, the development of catalysts for hydrogen production technology by electrolysis of water is slow, mainly due to the complexity of the electrolysis hydrogen generation process, low hydrogen production efficiency, weak electrode material activity and high cost. Among the non-noble metal-based catalysts, carbon-based materials have high conductivity, tunable chemical bonding, and easily modified morphology, making them beneficial to achieving efficient hydrogen production, though pure carbon composites suffer from few surface-active sites and unmoderated hydrogen bonding energy, which need to be further optimized. The principle of electrocatalytic hydrogen production from the perspectives of reaction thermodynamics and kinetics is analyzed and discussed in this paper. Thermodynamics of electrocatalytic hydrogen production is reflected by the Gibbs free energy of hydrogen adsorption (ΔGH*) and electrode potential (E). Reaction kinetics of the electrocatalytic hydrogen production process are reflected by overpotential, Tafel slope and exchange current density. Structural optimization methods of carbon-based composite materials and hydrogen production performance after structural optimization are also summarized. Structural optimization methods of carbon-based composite materials mainly include introducing active sites, improving conductivity, increasing specific surface area and introducing self-supporting materials. Finally, prospects are proposed for the development direction and existing problems of electrocatalytic hydrogen production performance of carbon-based composites.

Abstract Backgrounds Thrombosis of dural sinuses and/or cerebral veins (CVT) is an uncommon form of cerebrovascular disease. Malnutrition is common in patients with cerebrovascular disease, and early assessment of malnutrition and individualized nutritional treatment have been reported to improve functional outcomes of these patients. As for CVT patients, little is known about whether these patients would suffer from malnutrition. Also, the correlation between malnutrition and cerebral intraparenchymal damage (CID) in CVT patients was rarely studied. Methods Patients with CVT were retrospectively included in this observational study. Multivariate logistic regressions were used to investigate the effects of nutritional indexes on the risk of CID. Subsequently, we used the independent risk factors to construct the nomogram model, and the consistency index (C-index), calibration curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) to assess the reliability and applicability of the model. Results A total of 165 patients were included in the final analysis. Approximately 72.7% of CVT patients were regarded as malnourished by our malnutrition screening tools, and malnutrition is associated with an increased risk of CID. Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) (OR = 0.873; CI: 0.791, 0.963, p = 0.007) remained as an independent predictor for CID after adjustment for other risk factors. The nomogram model showed that PNI and gender have a great contribution to prediction. Besides, the nomogram model was consistent with the actual observations of CID risk (C-index = 0.65) and was of clinical significance. Conclusions We reported that malnutrition, as indicated by PNI, was associated with a higher incidence of CID in CVT patients. Also, we have constructed a nomogram for predicting the risk of CID in these patients.

On October 6, 2021, a high-position landslide disaster occurred in Yanwo Village，Rongshan Town, Lizhou District, Guangyuan City,Sichuan Province, around 13: 00. The landslide resulted in the destruction of 4 houses, 3 power lines, the burial of a 170-meter-long rural road, and the blockage of a 350-meter-long river channel. By utilizing a variety of remote sensing information sources, including multi-period satellite data before and after landslide, high-precision UAV aerial images, and airborne LiDAR data, the characteristics of high landslide and its sliding mode are studied by using a four-dimensional analysis approach combining three-dimensional space with time. Starting from the development background of high landslide, the deformation and failure characteristics and sliding mode of high landslide are summarized by analyzing the deformation characteristics before sliding and the dynamic procession of the high landslide. Based on the deduced landslide progression and the stability evaluation of the residual landslide at the rear, three sliding modes for future high-position landslide events are predicted and analyzed: Firstly, the back edge of landslide continues to be disjointed and move, causing a direct shear failure of the front part of the landslide by squeezing. Secondly, the trailing edge of the landslide continues to be disjointed and move, resulting in the sliding landslide occurs along the existing landslide channel. Thirdly, the initiation of the front part of the landslide trigger a tractional landslide in the middle and rear parts of the landslide. High-position landslides are common in the southwest mountainous areas, and during early geological hazard investigations, they should be effectively identified, and disaster prevention and mitigation measures should be strengthened.

Abstract Inebilizumab, a humanized, glycoengineered, IgG1 monoclonal antibody that depletes CD19+ B‐cells, is approved to treat aquaporin 4 (AQP4) IgG‐seropositive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). Inebilizumab is afucosylated and engineered for enhanced affinity to Fc receptor III‐A (FCGR3A) receptors on natural killer cells to maximize antibody‐dependent cellular cytotoxicity. Previously, the F allele polymorphism at amino acid 158 of the FCGR3A gene (F158) was shown to decrease IgG‐binding affinity and reduce rituximab (anti‐CD20) efficacy for NMOSD attack prevention. In contrast, our current findings from inebilizumab‐treated NMOSD patients indicate similar clinical outcomes between those with F158 and V158 allele genotypes.
