151. The Role of Cognitive Fusion in Pathways to Violent Radicalization and Deradicalization

Abstract: A better understanding of modifiable psychological processes that could reduce pathways to violent radicalization (VR) would greatly aid researchers, providers, policy makers, and individuals at risk for VR. Cognitive fusion, the tendency for behavior to be overly regulated and influenced by one’s thoughts and feelings, and a common intervention target within Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), may be one such fulcrum. Participants, recruited via gateway snowball sampling, were 233 young adults drawn from five communities in North America as part of Wave 4 of the Somali Youth Longitudinal Study. Utilizing moderation and mediation path analysis in MPlus, the study examined the relations between cognitive fusion, VR, and three important variables associated with VR risk: post traumatic stress symptoms, experiences of daily discrimination, and perceptions of a just government. Findings supported that higher levels of cognitive fusion were directly related to greater openness to VR. Additionally, higher levels of cognitive fusion statistically mediated the link between both daily discrimination and openness to VR as well as between post traumatic stress symptoms and openness to VR. Findings also highlighted that cognitive fusion and perceptions of a just government interacted such that openness to VR was highest in individuals who had low perceptions of a just government and had high levels of cognitive fusion. Results of this study provide preliminary evidence of the potential role of high cognitive fusion in the pathways to VR and further evidence for its potential integration as a target domain within deradicalization efforts.

Abstract: The Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) measures column-average mole fractions of several greenhouse gases (GHGs), beginning in 2004, from over 30 current or past measurement sites around the world using solar absorption spectroscopy in the near-infrared (near-IR) region. TCCON GHG data have been used extensively for multiple purposes, including in studies of the carbon cycle and anthropogenic emissions, as well as to validate and improve observations from space-based sensors. Here, we describe an update to the retrieval algorithm used to process the TCCON near-IR solar spectra and to generate the associated data products. This version, called GGG2020, was initially released in April 2022. It includes updates and improvements to all steps of the retrieval, including but not limited to the conversion of the original interferograms into spectra, the spectroscopic information used in the column retrieval, post hoc air mass dependence correction, and scaling to align with the calibration scales of in situ GHG measurements. All TCCON data are available through https://tccondata.org/ (last access: 22 April 2024) and are hosted on CaltechDATA (https://data.caltech.edu/, last access: 22 April 2024). Each TCCON site has a unique DOI for its data record. An archive of all the sites' data is also available with the DOI https://doi.org/10.14291/TCCON.GGG2020 (Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) Team, 2022). The hosted files are updated approximately monthly, and TCCON sites are required to deliver data to the archive no later than 1 year after acquisition. 153. 3D shear wave velocity imaging of the subsurface structure of granite rocks in the arid climate of Pan de Azúcar, Chile, revealed by Bayesian inversion of HVSR curves

Abstract: Seismic methods are emerging as efficient tools for imaging the subsurface to investigate the weathering zone. The structure of the weathering zone can be identified by differing shear wave velocities as various weathering processes will alter the properties of rocks. Currently, 3D subsurface modelling of the weathering zone is gaining increasing importance as results allow the identification of the weathering imprint in the subsurface not only from top to bottom but also in three dimensions. We investigated the 3D weathering structure of monzogranite bedrock near the Pan de Azúcar National Park (Atacama Desert, northern Chile), where the weathering is weak due to the arid climate conditions. We set up an array measurement that records seismic ambient noise, which we used to extract the horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio (HVSR) curves. The curves were then used to invert for 1D shear wave velocity (Vs) models, which we then used to compile a pseudo-3D model of the subsurface structure in our study area. To invert the 1D Vs model, we applied a transdimensional hierarchical Bayesian inversion scheme, allowing us to invert the HVSR curve with minimal prior information. The resulting 3D model allowed us to image the granite gradient from the surface down to ca. 50 m depth and confirmed the presence of dikes of mafic composition intruding the granite. We identified three main zones of fractured granite, altered granite, and the granite bedrock in addition to the mafic dikes with relatively higher Vs. The fractured granite layer was identified with Vs of 1.4 km s−1 at 30–40 m depth, while the granite bedrock was delineated with Vs of 2.5 km s−1 and a depth range between 10 and 50 m depth. We compared the resulting subsurface structure to other sites in the Chilean coastal cordillera located in various climatic conditions and found that the weathering depth and structure at a given location depend on a complex interaction between surface processes such as precipitation rate, tectonic uplift and fracturing, and erosion. Moreover, these local geological features such as the intrusion of mafic dikes can create significant spatial variations to the weathering structure and therefore emphasize the importance of 3D imaging of the weathering structure. The imaged structure of the subsurface in Pan de Azúcar provides the unique opportunity to image the heterogeneities of a rock preconditioned for weathering but one that has never experienced extensive weathering given the absence of precipitation.

Abstract: Abstract Measurements of inclusive charged-particle jet production in pp and p-Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon collision s NN $$ \sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} $$ = 5.02 TeV and the corresponding nuclear modification factor R pPb ch jet $$ {R}_{\textrm{pPb}}^{\textrm{ch}\ \textrm{jet}} $$ are presented, using data collected with the ALICE detector at the LHC. Jets are reconstructed in the central rapidity region |η jet| < 0.5 from charged particles using the anti-k T algorithm with resolution parameters R = 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4. The p T-differential inclusive production cross section of charged-particle jets, as well as the corresponding cross section ratios, are reported for pp and p-Pb collisions in the transverse momentum range 10 < p T , jet ch $$ {p}_{\textrm{T},\textrm{jet}}^{\textrm{ch}} $$ < 140 GeV/c and 10 < p T , jet ch $$ {p}_{\textrm{T},\textrm{jet}}^{\textrm{ch}} $$ < 160 GeV/c, respectively, together with the nuclear modification factor R pPb ch jet $$ {R}_{\textrm{pPb}}^{\textrm{ch}\ \textrm{jet}} $$ in the range 10 < p T , jet ch $$ {p}_{\textrm{T},\textrm{jet}}^{\textrm{ch}} $$ < 140 GeV/c. The analysis extends the p T range of the previously-reported charged-particle jet measurements by the ALICE Collaboration. The nuclear modification factor is found to be consistent with one and independent of the jet resolution parameter with the improved precision of this study, indicating that the possible influence of cold nuclear matter effects on the production cross section of charged-particle jets in p-Pb collisions at s NN $$ \sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} $$ = 5.02 TeV is smaller than the current precision. The obtained results are in agreement with other minimum bias jet measurements available for RHIC and LHC energies, and are well reproduced by the NLO perturbative QCD Powheg calculations with parton shower provided by Pythia8 as well as by Jetscape simulations.

Abstract: Abstract Results on the transverse spherocity dependence of light-flavor particle production (π, K, p, ϕ, K*0, K S 0 $$ {\textrm{K}}_{\textrm{S}}^0 $$ , Λ, Ξ) at midrapidity in high-multiplicity pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV were obtained with the ALICE apparatus. The transverse spherocity estimator S O p T = 1 $$ \left({S}_{\textrm{O}}^{p_{\textrm{T}}=1}\right) $$ categorizes events by their azimuthal topology. Utilizing narrow selections on S O p T = 1 $$ {S}_{\textrm{O}}^{p_{\textrm{T}}=1} $$ , it is possible to contrast particle production in collisions dominated by many soft initial interactions with that observed in collisions dominated by one or more hard scatterings. Results are reported for two multiplicity estimators covering different pseudorapidity regions. The S O p T = 1 $$ {S}_{\textrm{O}}^{p_{\textrm{T}}=1} $$ estimator is found to effectively constrain the hardness of the events when the midrapidity (|η| < 0.8) estimator is used. The production rates of strange particles are found to be slightly higher for soft isotropic topologies, and severely suppressed in hard jet-like topologies. These effects are more pronounced for hadrons with larger mass and strangeness content, and observed when the topological selection is done within a narrow multiplicity interval. This demonstrates that an important aspect of the universal scaling of strangeness enhancement with final-state multiplicity is that high-multiplicity collisions are dominated by soft, isotropic processes. On the contrary, strangeness production in events with jet-like processes is significantly reduced. The results presented in this article are compared with several QCD-inspired Monte Carlo event generators. Models that incorporate a two-component phenomenology, either through mechanisms accounting for string density, or thermal production, are able to describe the observed strangeness enhancement as a function of S O p T = 1 $$ {S}_{\textrm{O}}^{p_{\textrm{T}}=1} $$ .

Abstract: Abstract The ALICE Collaboration reports a search for jet quenching effects in high-multiplicity (HM) proton-proton collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV, using the semi-inclusive azimuthal-difference distribution ∆φ of charged-particle jets recoiling from a high transverse momentum (high-p T,trig) trigger hadron. Jet quenching may broaden the ∆φ distribution measured in HM events compared to that in minimum bias (MB) events. The measurement employs a p T,trig-differential observable for data-driven suppression of the contribution of multiple partonic interactions, which is the dominant background. While azimuthal broadening is indeed observed in HM compared to MB events, similar broadening for HM events is observed for simulations based on the PYTHIA 8 Monte Carlo generator, which does not incorporate jet quenching. Detailed analysis of these data and simulations show that the azimuthal broadening is due to bias of the HM selection towards events with multiple jets in the final state. The identification of this bias has implications for all jet quenching searches where selection is made on the event activity.

Abstract: Abstract The production yields of the Σ(1385) ± and Ξ(1530)0 resonances are measured in pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with ALICE. The measurements are performed as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity ⟨dN ch /dη⟩, which is related to the energy density produced in the collision. The results include transverse momentum (p T) distributions, p T-integrated yields, mean transverse momenta of Σ(1385) ± and Ξ(1530)0, as well as ratios of the p T-integrated resonance yields relative to yields of other hadron species. The Σ(1385) ± /π ± and Ξ(1530)0 /π ± yield ratios are consistent with the trend of the enhancement of strangeness production from low to high multiplicity pp collisions, which was previously observed for strange and multi-strange baryons. The yield ratio between the measured resonances and the long-lived baryons with the same strangeness content exhibits a hint of a mild increasing trend at low multiplicity, despite too large uncertainties to exclude the flat behaviour. The results are compared with predictions from models such as EPOS-LHC and PYTHIA 8 with Rope shoving. The latter provides the best description of the multiplicity dependence of the Σ(1385) ± and Ξ(1530)0 production in pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV.

Abstract: Abstract This paper presents the measurement of fiducial and differential cross sections for both the inclusive and electroweak production of a same-sign W-boson pair in association with two jets (W ± W ± jj) using 139 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data recorded at a centre-of-mass energy of s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis is performed by selecting two same-charge leptons, electron or muon, and at least two jets with large invariant mass and a large rapidity difference. The measured fiducial cross sections for electroweak and inclusive W ± W ± jj production are 2.92 ± 0.22 (stat.) ± 0.19 (syst.) fb and 3.38 ± 0.22 (stat.) ± 0.19 (syst.) fb, respectively, in agreement with Standard Model predictions. The measurements are used to constrain anomalous quartic gauge couplings by extracting 95% confidence level intervals on dimension-8 operators. A search for doubly charged Higgs bosons H ±± that are produced in vector-boson fusion processes and decay into a same-sign W boson pair is performed. The largest deviation from the Standard Model occurs for an H ±± mass near 450 GeV, with a global significance of 2.5 standard deviations.

Abstract: We report on a precision energy loss measurement and theoretical investigation of $100\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{keV}/u$ helium ions in a hydrogen-discharge plasma. Collision processes of helium ions with protons, free electrons, and hydrogen atoms are ideally suited for benchmarking plasma stopping-power models. Energy loss results of our experiments are significantly higher than the predictions of traditional effective charge models. We obtained good agreement with our data by solving rate equations, where in addition to the ground state, also excited electronic configurations were considered for the projectile ions. Hence, we demonstrate that excited projectile states, resulting from collisions, leading to capture-, ionization-, and radiative-decay processes, play an important role in the stopping process in plasma.

160. Zoledronic acid and fracture risk: a meta-analysis of 12 randomized controlled trials

Abstract: Zoledronic acid is widely used in patients with osteoporosis, and this meta-analysis aims to explore the influence of zoledronic acid on fracture risk and mortality in patients with osteoporosis or osteopenia.We searched PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Library for randomized clinical trials comparing zoledronic acid with control intervention (i.e., placebo or nothing) for osteoporosis or osteopenia. The fracture and mortality were estimated using the random-effect model.12 randomized trials were included in this meta-analysis. Compared to control intervention, zoledronic acid was associated with significantly reduced incidence of fracture at the follow-up of 12 months, 24 months, 36 months and 72 months. In addition, zoledronic acid could remarkably reduce mortality at 12 months and 24 months than control intervention but revealed no influence on mortality at 36 months or 72 months. In terms of adverse events, zoledronic acid might result in the increase in serious atrial fibrillation and death from stroke than control intervention.Zoledronic acid is beneficial to reduce the incidence of fracture, while its benefits to reduce the mortality are only observed at the follow-up time of 24 months.

Abstract: We report the discovery of an extended very-high-energy (VHE) gamma-ray source around the location of the middle-aged (207.8 kyr) pulsar PSR J0622+3749 with the Large High-Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). The source is detected with a significance of 8.2σ for E25 TeV assuming a Gaussian template. The best-fit location is (right ascension, declination) =(95.47°±0.11°,37.92°±0.09°), and the extension is 0.40°±0.07°. The energy spectrum can be described by a power-law spectrum with an index of -2.92±0.17_{stat}±0.02_{sys}. No clear extended multiwavelength counterpart of the LHAASO source has been found from the radio to sub-TeV bands. The LHAASO observations are consistent with the scenario that VHE electrons escaped from the pulsar, diffused in the interstellar medium, and scattered the interstellar radiation field. If interpreted as the pulsar halo scenario, the diffusion coefficient, inferred for electrons with median energies of ∼160 TeV, is consistent with those obtained from the extended halos around Geminga and Monogem and much smaller than that derived from cosmic ray secondaries. The LHAASO discovery of this source thus likely enriches the class of so-called pulsar halos and confirms that high-energy particles generally diffuse very slowly in the disturbed medium around pulsars.

Abstract: We report the discovery of a UHE gamma-ray source, LHAASO J2108+5157, by analyzing the LHAASO-KM2A data of 308.33 live days. Significant excess of gamma-ray induced showers is observed in both energy bands of 25-100 TeV and $\gt$100 TeV with 9.5 sigma and 8.5 sigma, respectively. This source is not significantly favored as an extensive source with the angular extension smaller than the point-spread function of KM2A. The measured energy spectrum from 20 to 200 TeV can be approximately described by a power-law function with an index of -2.83$\pm$ 0.18stat. A harder spectrum is demanded at lower energies considering the flux upper limit set by Fermi-LAT observations. The position of the gamma-ray emission is correlated with a giant molecular cloud, which favors a hadronic origin. Abstract: Background Platelet endothelial aggregation receptor-1 (PEAR1), expressed in endothelium, platelets, and other tissues, is a platelet transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor involved in platelet aggregation and platelet-platelet contact. The minor allele (A) in intron 1 of the PEAR1 gene (rs12041331, G>A) is associated with an reduced PEAR1 protein expression and suppressed platelet aggregation response toward multiple agonists. But current evidences on the association between PEAR1 rs12041331 polymorphisms and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and/or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) are discordant. Purpose To characterize and quantify the association between PEAR1 rs12041331 polymorphisms and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with ACS and/or PCI. Methods We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis by searching MEDLINE via PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, SinoMed, CNKI, and Wanfang Data before Dec 7, 2019 to identify studies evaluating the association between PEAR1 rs12041331 polymorphisms and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with ACS and/or PCI. The primary outcome was the major adverse cardiovascular outcomes (MACEs) defined by each study. We adopted the Mantel-Haenszel method to calculate the relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and the corresponding P values using the random effect model. To assess the effect of ethnicity, we performed the subgroup analyses per ethnic population using the fix effect model. Results Among 542 citations identified along with 1 from additional sources, we included 4 studies, which documented 218 MACEs in 8180 patients. The A allele frequency in each study was comparable with that reported in the 1000 Genome Project, but varied among ethnic populations, that is 45.8% in East Asians, 46.5% in American Africans, and 9.2% in Caucasians, adopted from the 1000 Genome Project. A-allele carriers are associated with a 54% increase in MACEs than non-A-carriers (RR, 1.54; 95% CI, 1.10–2.16; P=0.01) with a low but non-significant heterogeneity. Subgroup analyses showed that A-allele carriers tend to have more MACEs than non-A-allele carriers despite of ethnicity, that is 1.32-fold increase in East Asians (RR, 1.32; 95% CI, 0.99–1.77; P=0.06), 2.43-fold in Caucasians (RR, 2.43; 95% CI, 0.99–5.98; P=0.05), and 3.56-fold (RR, 3.56; 95% CI, 1.08–11.70; P=0.04) in American Africans. Conclusions Our study indicates that the PEAR1 rs12041331 is prognostic in patients with ACS and/or PCI and treated with DAPT, which might be not caused by the associations with pharmacological response to antiplatelet agents. Further investigations are thus required to address the unrevealing mechanisms of PEAR1, especially on the development of atherosclerosis and the occurrence of acute adverse ischemic events. Abstract: Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LINC00858 is a cancer-associated lncRNA frequently dysregulated in many types of human cancers. In the current study, we aimed to explore the role of LINC00858 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).The relative expression levels of LINC00858 in HCC samples and adjacent non-tumor samples were determined by qRT-PCR. Loss-of-function assay was performed to examine the function of LINC00858 in HCC in vitro. Bioinformatic analysis and the following Luciferase activity reporter assay were utilized to explore the downstream molecules of LINC00858. CCK-8 assay was performed to detect cell proliferation of HCC cells. Transwell assay was performed to evaluate the invasive ability of HCC cells.Our results showed that LINC00858 was highly expressed in both HCC tissues and cell lines. Knockdown of LINC00858 inhibited the proliferation and invasion of HCC cells. Moreover, LINC00858 was found to act as a sponge of miR-153-3p, which directly bound to Rabl3 and regulated the Rabl3 expression. Furthermore, inhibition of miR-153-3p counteracted the effects of LINC00858 knockdown on proliferation and invasion of HCC cells. In addition, the overexpression of Rabl3 rescued the effects of miR-153-3p on cell proliferation and invasion of HCC cells.In summary, these findings showed that LINC00858 exerted an ontogenetic role in HCC via regulating miR-153-3p/Rabl3 axis. Thus, LINC00858 might be utilized as a therapeutic target for the treatment of HCC.

Abstract: The objective of this experiment was to study the effects of dietary zinc (Zn) source on gene expression of Zn transporters (metallothionein [MT], ZIP 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14, and ZnT 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10) in the jejunum and cecal tonsils of broilers challenged with coccidia or coccidia plus Clostridium perfringens. A 2 × 2 factorial design was used with 2 Zn sources (90 mg Zn/kg from either ZnSO4or an organic Zn, Bioplex®Zn) and challenged with approximately 5,000 oocysts of Eimeria maximaat 14 d of age with or without C. perfringens(108CFU/bird) at 18, 19, and 20 d of age (8 pens per treatment and 8 birds per pen) after which 1 bird/pen was sampled at 21 d of age. In the jejunum, co-infection resulted in higher ZnT 5 and 6 gene expression, while organic Zn fed birds had lower ZIP 5 and 11, and higher ZnT1. Additionally, an interaction of challenge by Zn source was noted wherein ZnT10 was unaffected by the C. perfringensin the organic Zn treatment but was 2.7-fold lower in the co-infected ZnSO4fed birds. S100A9 gene expression, a biomarker of inflammatory response in necrotic enteritis, increased 2 and 2.8-fold in the cecal tonsils and jejunum with the co-infection, respectively. Supplementation with organic Zn lowered S100A9 by 1.9 and 4.4-fold in the cecal tonsils and jejunum, respectively, when birds were supplemented with ZnSO4. Notably, MT, ZIP 3, 8, 9, 10, 13, or 14, and ZnT 4, 7, and 9 were unaffected by Zn source and/or method of challenge. An interaction of challenge by Zn source was also noted for serum Zn concentration, which was reduced when birds were challenged with C. perfringensand fed ZnSO4but no difference between challenge method when birds were fed organic Zn. Based on the expression of ZnT and ZIP genes, more Zn trafficking due to treatment occured in the jejunum than cecal tonsils, but further studies are needed to ascertain how Zn source regulates intracellular free Zn concentrations and whole-body Zn status during an enteric challenge.

Abstract: To examine the construction and operation of the schistosomiasis diagnostic network platform in Hunan Province, so as to provide insights into the improvements of the schistosomiasis diagnostic network laboratory system in the province.According to the criteria and requirements for the construction of the county-level schistosomiasis diagnostic network laboratory in China, the establishment and operation of the laboratory were assessed using self-assessment and field review in national schistosomiasis surveillance sites of Hunan Province.A total of 41 county-level schistosomiasis diagnostic network laboratories were built in national schistosomiasis surveillance sites of Hunan Province, and 36 met the requirements for the construction of the national schistosomiasis diagnostic network laboratory in China, which were approved for inclusion in the province-level schistosomiasis diagnostic network laboratory. During the six inter-laboratory comparisons performed by the national schistosomiasis diagnostic reference center of China, full consistency was achieved by 3 county-level schistosomiasis diagnostic network laboratories in Hunan Province, and the coincidence rates for re-review of serological and pathogenic detection samples were 98.40% and 100%, respectively.The county-level schistosomiasis diagnostic network laboratory system has been preliminarily built and under effective operation in Hunan Province; however, the building capability remains to be improved.

Abstract: To analyze the endemic situation of schistosomiasis in Hunan Province in 2019, so as to provide insights into the achievement of transmission interruption of schistosomiasis in the province in 2020.The data pertaining toSchistosomiasis was endemic in 281 townships (towns) from 41 counties (districts) of 6 cities in Hunan Province by the end of 2019. A total of 991 900 persons received blood testing in Hunan Province in 2019, and 22 773 were positive for the blood testing, with sero-prevalence of 2.30%. All stool examinations were negative in 22 933 individuals detected. The high sero-prevalence was seen in Nanxian County, Anxiang County and Ziyang District. Currently, there were 5 034 cases with advanced schistosomiasis detected in Hunan Province, and they were predominantly identified in Yuanjiang City, Heshan District and Yueyang County. There were 44 963 bovines fenced in schistosomiasis-endemic villages in Hunan Province in 2019, which were predominantly distributed in Yuanjiang City, Hanshou County and Ziyang District, and no positives were detected in 1 996 bovines receiving blood testing or 20 684 bovines receiving stool examinations. In 2019, there were snail habitats of 1.73 billion mThe endemic situation of schistosomiasis further decreases in Hunan Province in 2019; however, there is still a risk of schistosomiasis transmission in local areas of the province.

181. MiR-1294 acts as a tumor inhibitor in cervical cancer by regulating FLOT1 expression

Abstract: Recently, important regulatory mechanisms of microRNAs (miRNAs) have been widely reported in human cancers including cervical cancer. The purpose of this study is to preliminarily clarify the function of miR-1294 in cervical cancer. The expression of miR-1294 or FLOT1 was detected using RT-qPCR or Western blot analysis. MTT, Transwell and luciferase reporter assays were used to explore the functional mechanism of miR-1294. The results showed that miR-1294 expression was decreased in cervical cancer. Functionally, overexpression of miR-1294 restrained the viability and metastasis of cervical cancer cells. MiR-1294 can also block EMT and suppress β-catenin expression in cervical cancer cells. Additionally, FLOT1 was confirmed to be a direct target of miR-1294. The knockdown of FLOT1 impeded the progression of cervical cancer. More importantly, miR-1294 inhibited the occurrence of cervical cancer by interacting with FLOT1. In conclusion, miR-1294 inhibits cell viability, migration and invasion by suppressing FLOT1 expression.

Abstract: The photosynthesis was investigated 30 d after Pb treatment in Myrica rubra seedlings. The Pb treatment resulted in significantly increased Pb concentrations in shoots. Low Pb concentration exposure (≤2 mM) reduced the net photosynthetic rate (PN), transpiration rate (E), and stomatal conductance (gs) without affecting the intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci), chlorophyll (Chl) content, and Chl fluorescence parameters. At 10 d after severe Pb treatment (≥4 mM), PN was inhibited and accompanied by Chl damage, while at 30 d, the inhibition of PN was followed by an increase of Ci and a decrease of gs, E, Chl content, and Chl fluorescence parameters. M. rubra showed a promising prospect for use in the soil phytoremediation, when Pb concentration is low, but the remediation efficiency of M. rubra is limited if Pb exceeds 2 mM.

Abstract: A two-dimensional (2D) diffraction pattern is an image representing the diffraction intensity distribution over the detected area. For data evaluations of various materials characterization, such as phase identification, stress, texture, and crystal size, this distribution is further converted into the intensity distribution over 2θ or γ angles. For many applications, especially phase analysis and structure refinement, it is crucial for the two-dimensional (2D) pattern to have a large 2θ range sufficient to cover as many diffraction rings as necessary. The 2θ range covered by a 2D detector is determined by the size of the detector active area and the detector distance from the sample. In order to expand the 2θ coverage with a given 2D detector, one may collect several 2D frames at various swing angles and then merge the multiple frames, or scan the 2D detector over the desired 2θ range during the data collection. This paper introduces the geometry and algorithms to produce accurate 2D diffraction patterns with expanded 2θ coverages from multiple images or scanned images.

192. Revealing the tempering embrittlement in a medium entropy alloy containing carbon atoms

Abstract: In general, annealing treatment is frequently used to recover the ductility of high/medium entropy alloys after deformation. However, the present work demonstrates that the ductility of a CoCrNiVC medium entropy alloy could be substantially reduced after the tempering process, which is similar to the tempering embrittlement in some steels. Numerous carbides with chromium enrichment are formed at the shear bands and grain boundaries during tempering at 700 °C for 30 min. The carbides embedded at grain boundaries result in a localized strain concentration during plastic deformation, facilitating the nucleation of the micro-cracks. The segregation of carbon at the grain boundary decreases its cohesion energy, accelerating the propagation of cracks and the development of intergranular fracture.

Abstract: The first measurements of femtoscopic correlations with the particle pair combinations π±KS0 in pp collisions at s=13 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are reported by the ALICE experiment. Using the femtoscopic approach, it is shown that it is possible to study the elusive K0⁎(700) particle that has been considered a tetraquark candidate for over forty years. Source and final-state interaction parameters are extracted by fitting a model assuming a Gaussian source to the experimentally measured two-particle correlation functions. The final-state interaction in the π±KS0 system is modeled through a resonant scattering amplitude, defined in terms of a mass and a coupling parameter, The extracted mass and Breit–Wigner width, derived from the coupling parameter, of the final-state interaction are found to be consistent with previous measurements of the K0⁎(700). The small value and increase of the correlation strength with increasing source size support the hypothesis that the K0⁎(700) is a four-quark state, i.e. a tetraquark state of the form (q1,q2‾,q3,q3‾) in which q1, q2 and q3 indicate the flavor of the valence quarks of the π and KS0. This latter trend is also confirmed via a simple geometric model that assumes a tetraquark structure of the K0⁎(700) resonance.

Abstract: ObjectivesTo investigate the diagnostic performance of fetal cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using Doppler ultrasound (DUS) gating for the evaluation of the standardized five axial views in comparison with fetal echocardiography.MethodsIn this prospective study 29 pregnant women (median: 34.4 weeks of gestation) underwent fetal cardiovascular MRI using DUS gating at 3 Tesla. The standardized five axial views in prenatal screening (fetal abdomen, four-chamber view, left ventricular outflow tract, right ventricular outflow tract, and three-vessel view) were independently assessed and analysed by both fetal MRI and fetal echocardiography on the same day. Image analysis included qualitative assessment and quantitative measurements of cardiovascular structures. MR image quality was assessed using a 4-point scale (from 1 = low to 4 = excellent). Postnatal echocardiography was performed for validation.Results17/28 fetuses (60.7%) had pathological findings [16 congenital heart defect (CHD), one diaphragmatic hernia] in prenatal echocardiography. One fetus was excluded due to severe motion. Overall sensitivity and specificity in detecting fetal cardiac abnormalities was 88% and 100%, respectively, for fetal MRI and 100% and 100% for fetal echocardiography. MR image quality for evaluation of cardiac structures was high with a mean score of 2.8 (±0.8) (score 4: 15.9%, score 3: 53.8%, score 2: 19.3%, score 1: 11%). Quantitative measurements did not differ between fetal cardiovascular MRI and fetal echocardiography (all p > 0.05).ConclusionDiagnostic performance of fetal cardiovascular MRI using DUS gating was comparable to fetal echocardiography. Fetal cardiovascular MRI using DUS gating might be a valuable diagnostic adjunct for the prenatal evaluation of CHD.

Abstract: Abstract Microbiology education has a serious handicap – the lack of visibility of the players of the subject and their interactions – which engenders a disproportionate reliance upon multimedia teaching aids (MTAs). The International Microbiology Literacy Initiative (IMiLI) is creating educational resources in societally‐relevant microbiology complemented by appropriate MTAs. However, proper guidance supporting microbiology educators in locating and selecting, or commissioning the creation of, adequate MTAs for different target audiences and learning objectives is lacking. The aims of this study were to (i) identify important considerations regarding educational/didactical standards and the design of educational multimedia and (ii) create an evidence‐based guideline for selecting and appraising existing, and informing the creation of new, microbiology MTAs. This investigation is based on an exploratory, mixed‐methods approach. The results of two literature reviews (covering educational and good practice multimedia design) informed the collation of a preliminary appraisal guideline for videos, animations, comics, and video games. A web‐scraping approach was utilised to locate and retrieve existing exemplars of the four multimedia types and create four pertinent multimedia databases (including metadata). The preliminary guideline was piloted (and revised accordingly) by appraising quasi‐random (or purposive) samples of each multimedia type. Educational multimedia experts were interviewed to discuss the findings. Finally, the guideline was updated to reflect the expert comments together with the results of the pilot appraisals. The final guideline has four components: (i) central considerations for selecting and appraising multimedia for specific audiences and educational purposes, (ii) multimedia selection tool, (iii) multimedia appraisal tools, and (iv) extensive background information as appendices linking all sections for further comprehension. Broad utilisation of the guideline has significant potential for simplifying and systematising multimedia selection/creation, leading to superior multimedia‐based learning outcomes, establishing a rapid selection database (pre‐appraised multimedia), reducing disparities in microbiology education and incentivising educational content creators.

197. The SElf-Care After REnal Transplantation Study: A Retrospective Evaluation of a Home-Monitoring Program Implemented as Standard Care

Abstract: After transplantation self-management is essential for graft survival and optimal quality of life. To address the need for home-based support in self-management, we implemented the “SelfCare after Renal Transplantation” (SeCReT) box, containing home-monitoring equipment combined with a smartphone application that was linked to the electronic patient records. This study investigated the uptake and continuation, protocol adherence, and subjective evaluation of this home-monitoring program. All “de novo” kidney recipients who received the SeCReT-box in the study period (Aug 2021–Dec 2022) were eligible for inclusion. Protocol adherence was defined as ≥75%. Subjective evaluation was assessed with a 5-item questionnaire. Of the 297 recipients transplanted, 178 participants (60%) were included in the analysis. Protocol adherence was 83%, 73%, 66%, and 57% respectively at 5, 10, 20, and 40 weeks of the protocol. With regard to continuation, 135 participants were still in the program at the end of the study period (75% retention rate). Regarding subjective evaluations, 82% evaluated the program positively, and 52% reported lower care needs due to home-monitoring. Results are positive among those who entered and continued the program. Qualitative research is needed on barriers to entering the program and facilitators of use in order to promote optimal implementation.

Abstract: We present in situ measurements of spectrally resolved X-ray scattering and X-ray diffraction from monocrystalline diamond samples heated with an intense pulse of heavy ions. In this way, we determine the samples’ heating dynamics and their microscopic and macroscopic structural integrity over a timespan of several microseconds. Connecting the ratio of elastic to inelastic scattering with state-of-the-art density functional theory molecular dynamics simulations allows the inference of average temperatures around 1300 K, in agreement with predictions from stopping power calculations. The simultaneous diffraction measurements show no hints of any volumetric graphitization of the material, but do indicate the onset of fracture in the diamond sample. Our experiments pave the way for future studies at the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research, where a substantially increased intensity of the heavy ion beam will be available.

Abstract: Mineral dust aerosols are composed of a complex assemblage of various minerals depending on the region in which they originated. Given the different mineral composition of desert dust aerosols, different physicochemical properties and therefore varying climate effects are expected. Despite the known regional variations in mineral composition, chemical transport models typically assume that mineral dust aerosols have uniform composition. This study adds, for the first time, mineralogical information to the mineral dust emission scheme used in the chemical transport model COSMO–MUSCAT. We provide a detailed description of the implementation of the mineralogical database, GMINER (Nickovic et al., 2012), together with a specific set of physical parameterizations in the model's mineral dust emission module, which led to a general improvement of the model performance when comparing the simulated mineral dust aerosols with measurements over the Sahara region for January–February 2022. The simulated mineral dust aerosol vertical distribution is tested by a comparison with aerosol lidar measurements from the lidar system PollyXT, located at Cape Verde. For a lofted mineral dust aerosol layer on 2 February at 05:00 UTC the lidar retrievals yield a dust mass concentration peak of 156 µg m−3, while the model calculates the mineral dust peak at 136 µg m−3. The results highlight the possibility of using the model with resolved mineral dust composition for interpretation of the lidar measurements since a higher absorption in the UV–Vis wavelengths is correlated with particles having a higher hematite content. Additionally, the comparison with in situ mineralogical measurements of dust aerosol particles shows that more of them are needed for model evaluation.
