Asphyxia is a condition caused by interference with respiration due to lack of oxygen in inspired air due to which the tissues are deprived of oxygen causing unconsciousness or death which could be due to any of the following causes such as Mechanical, Environmental or Toxic. To estimate the incidence and pattern of mechanical asphyxia deaths with epidemiological data such as age & sex wise distribution, various methods, manner, aggravating factors and substance abuse history of victim and to formulate certain measures for prevention. The autopsies of mechanical asphyxia deaths conducted at the mortuary of Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital, Chennai-01, during the period of 3months (October to December 2020). Information gathered from police inquest, postmortem reports, relevant history from relatives and friends of the deceased. During the period of study period, 581 deaths were autopsied in the mortuary, out of which 167 were of mechanical asphyxial deaths and the incidence was 28.74%. The most common form of mechanical asphyxial death was hanging (74.25%) followed by drowning (17.36%). The sex wise distributions of mechanical asphyxial deaths were most common in males 147 cases (88.02%) than females 27 cases (16.16%). Most of the deaths due to asphyxia were suicidal followed by accidental and most of the cases were suicidal hangings which is increasing day by day. With pattern of mechanical asphyxia deaths, we should also adopt certain measures for the prevention. All parts of the world are vulnerable to natural disasters. Flood hazards are the most typical causes of damage. People act preventatively up to the point where the predicted advantages (avoiding losses) outweigh the expenses, and this is influenced by knowledge (most of which is embedded in pricing) and limits on their resources. In addition, people vary in how much danger they're willing to take. This study analyses risk perception and attitudes that determine the flood risk response of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. A stated preference survey is carried out, with the potential impact of information being taken into account. Results indicate that several wealth composition variables, including housing value and annual income, have favorable impacts on risk perception. Whereas other factors, such as land value and durable goods value, negatively influence people's perceptions of risk. Additionally, other variables such as 'floods are exogenous to human control' show a very poor correlation with the willingness to pay for flood risk in the area. CdS‐based materials are extensively studied for photocatalytic water splitting. By incorporating Ag+ into CdS nanomaterials, the catalyst's charge carrier dynamic can be tuned for photo‐electrochemical devices. However, photo‐corrosion and air‐stability of the heterostructures limit the photocatalytic device's performance. Here, a one‐pot, single molecular source synthesis of the air‐stable AgCdS ternary semiconductor alloy nanostructures by heat‐up method is reported. Monoclinic and hexagonal phases of the alloy are tuned by judicious choice of dodecane thiol (DDT), octadecyl amine (ODA), and oleyl amine (OLA) as capping agents. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and powder X‐ray diffraction characterization of the AgCdS alloy confirm the monoclinic and hexagonal phase (wurtzite) formation. The high‐resolution TEM studies confirm the formation of AgCdS@DDT alloy nanorods and their shape transformation into nano‐triangles. The nanoparticle coalescence is observed for ODA‐capped alloys in the wurtzite phase. Moreover, OLA directs mixed crystal phases and anisotropic growth of alloy. Optical processes in AgCdS@DDT nano‐triangles show mono‐exponential decay (3.97 ± 0.01 ns). The monoclinic phase of the AgCdS@DDT nanorods exhibits higher electrochemical hydrogen evolution activity in neutral media as compared to the AgCdS@ODA/OLA alloy nanocrystals. DDT and OLA‐capped alloys display current densities of 14.1 and 14.7 mA cm−2, respectively, at 0.8 V (vs RHE). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The prevalence of OA knee is diagnosed with radiographic features 15% of patients were symptomatic in one study. OA affects nearly 6% of adults. Female sex is more common. 13% of females and 10% of male in 60 years are affected with OA and in 70 years of population rises to 40%. Purpose: To find the efficacy of low blood flow restricted resistance exercise on increasing muscle strength in patients with knee OA compared with conventional strength training using NPRS for pain and knee ROM. Materials and Methods: A total of 60 subjects were assigned in this study. The NPRS and knee ROM were used to calculate pre-and post-test results. Each session included three sets of five repetitions with a ten-second hold in between. The tables were tabulated and statistically evaluated. The entire process was conducted from November 2022 to April 2023. Result: According to the statistical analysis, both groups had a statistically significant improvement between their pre and post-exercise values (p<0.0001). There is also a significant variation in post-exercise results between the two groups (p<0.0001), indicating that blood flow restriction with exercises is more effective than conventional strength training with exercises. Conclusion: Blood flow restriction has been shown to be more effective than conventional strength training at relieving pain and increasing knee ROM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
