A review of those methodologies and areas of Department of Defense, USAMERADCOM, PM REMBASS, Navy NESEA support activities for the physical security/counter intrusion requirements at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games, 'Olympic Village', Ray Brook, N.Y. Major support activities were furnished to the New York State Police (NYSP) as primary response/reaction force, with DoD elements serving in maintenance, logistic and technical suport role. The performance of the Joint-Services Interior Intrusion Detection System (J-SIIDS) Passive Ultrasonic Sensor and Vibration Sensor in detecting an actual penetration through a structural wall is described. The passive sensor was designed to detect a penetration through hard building materials such as brick and concrete. The Vibration Sensor was designed to detect penetration through metal barriers. The evaluation verified the fact that the passive sensor and the Vibration Sensor are excellent detectors of penetration through hard building materials and steel barriers. (Author)

An Evaluation of Field Measurement Techniques for Assessing Wildlife Habitat on Resources Evaluation 10-Point Prism Plots

Space is a basic conditioner of man’s every global activity. In space—and in time—exist bis cultural systems. The prime concern here will be with certain spatial or territorial aspects of human organization related to an agricultural village—Ejido Guadiana—-in the Mexican north-central state of San Luis Potosi. Man has been always, and is still, inherently earth-bound. The locus of all his social groupings—from family through village, city and the national state—is territory or area. The identification and description of the locale of man’s associative life has uppermost the fact of territoriality. That identification and description seems to be an indispensable preliminary to any additional analysis of spatial associations in more refined theoretical constructs. For example, a problem such as settlement distribution requires that the fundamental data on locality group sites, services available, transportation links, and occupational composition of the population be delineated. The central hypothesis of this study was that the geographically identifiable rural community of Guadiana could be measured operationally and 'would be found to correspond to the concept of ''service-area community." The problem's main focus therefore was on (1) mapping the essential spatial relations of the ejido, (2) delimiting its locality groups, and (3) establishing the trade- and service-area community.

This thesis presents an analysis of organizational factors influencing Consequence Management of Dysfunctional Behavior and develops a framework for use by organizations regarding how they can more effectively reduce the incidences and manage the consequences of Dysfunctional Behavior. Twenty-five (25) Christian Evangelical Mission Organizations (CEMOs), located in the United States of America, provided substantive resources for this study including: fifteen that provided responses to surveys, four that provided organizational documents for analysis, and forty-four persons from twenty-one organizations were interviewed for the purpose of defining Dysfunctional Behavior, identifying the consequences stemming from that Dysfunctional Behavior, and establishing the extent of strategies for managing the consequences of Dysfunctional Behavior. A Strategic Model Template (SMT) is presented for organizations to use as a means of identifying Dysfunctional Behavior and effectively conducting Consequence Management. To this end, several typologies (Dysfunctional Behavior, Consequences, Sources of Information, Severity of Dysfunctional Behavior, Severity of Consequences, and Rationale for Consequence Management) are presented together with a Consequence Management Matrix as necessary both to the development of the SMT and its implementation with Strategic Integrity. The discovery of The Constraining Triangle identifies the forces unique to CEMOs that work to prevent the effective application of Consequence Management. These forces are a result of CEMO history and traditions and CEMO theology and the theology of CEMO members.
