- Abstract
Rhus chinensisMill. is a medicinal plant with a long history and wide distribution. Traditionally, its roots, stems, leaves, fruits, seeds, and Galla chinensiscan be used to treat various diseases, such as inflammation, malaria, diarrhea, jaundice, hepatitis, dental caries, cough, and colds. Recent scientific studies have shown that R. chinensiscontains a large number of flavonoid, phenolic, and triterpenoid compounds, and has the functions of hepatoprotective, antiobesity, intestinal protection, gastroprotective, antidiabetic, antioxidation, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer, anticaries, antiosteoporosis, anticoronary heart disease, and other effects. By referring to the relevant literature, the phytochemical characteristics and biological activities of R. chinensisare summarized, which provides references for its development and utilization.
