Abstract

The layered compound LaOBiSSe was successfully synthesized by a two-step solid-state reaction method, which is isostructural with the quaternary compound LaOBiS2 indicated by the powder X-ray diffraction characterization, and the crystal lattice parameters are slightly expanded by the substitution of Se atoms. Electrical transport measurement shows that LaOBiSSe exhibits semiconducting behavior similar with the parent compound LaOBiS2, while by F-doping the samples can be much more easily turned to be metallic and superconducting at low temperature with a small amount of F. Under the optimal carrier doping concentration of F ~ 0.5, the superconducting critical temperature of LaO0.5F0.5BiSSe is clearly enhanced up to a value of 3.8 K than the 3.2 K of LaO0.5F0.5BiS2.

Abstract

We use scanning tunneling microscopy to map the surface structure, nanoscale electronic inhomogeneity, and vitreous vortex phase in the hole-doped superconductor Sr$_{0.75}$K$_{0.25}$Fe$_2$As$_2$ with $T_c$=32 K. We find the low-$T$ cleaved surface is dominated by a half-Sr/K termination with $1\times 2$ ordering and ubiquitous superconducting gap, while patches of gapless, unreconstructed As termination appear rarely. The superconducting gap varies by $\sigma/\bar{\Delta}$=16% on a $\sim$3 nm length scale, with average $2\bar{\Delta}/k_B T_c=3.6$ in the weak coupling limit. The vortex core size provides a measure of the superconducting coherence length $\xi$=2.3 nm. We quantify the vortex lattice correlation length at 9 T in comparison to several iron-based superconductors. The comparison leads us to suggest the importance of dopant size mismatch as a cause of dopant clustering, electronic inhomogeneity, and strong vortex pinning., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, 1 table

Abstract

We report resistivity measurements performed on KFe$_2$As$_2$ single crystals down to $T$ = 0.3 K and in magnetic fields up to 17.5 T. The in-plane resistivity vs. $T$ curve has a convex shape down to $\sim$50 K and shows a $T^2$ dependence below $\sim$45 K. The ratio of the c-axis to in-plane resistivities is $\sim$10 at room temperature and $\sim$40 at 4.2 K. The superconducting upper critical field $B_{c2}(T)$ has been determined from the resistivity data: $B_{c2}^{ab}$(0) = 4.47 T and $B_{c2}^{c}$(0) = 1.25 T. The anisotropy parameter $\Gamma$ = $B_{c2}^{ab}$ / $B_{c2}^{c}$ increases with $T$ and is 6.8 at $T$ = $T_c$. The strong curvature of the $B_{c2}^{ab}(T)$ curve indicates the existence of strong spin paramagnetic effects., Comment: After minor revision, accepted for publication in J. Phys. Soc. Jpn

Abstract

Comprehensive Summary: Transition metal‐catalyzed asymmetric transfer hydrogenation has been proven to be a powerful approach for the synthesis of chiral alcohols. Herein, a highly efficient and enantioselective transfer hydrogenation of dibenzoheptaheterocyclic ketones catalyzed by an arene‐tethered TsDPEN‐based Rh(III) catalyst has been successfully developed, and a variety of dibenzoheptaheterocyclic ketones were reduced by a 1/1 mixture of formic acid and DBU (1,8‐diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec‐7‐ene) with high yields and enantioselectivities. With this method, the asymmetric reduction of 7,8‐difluorodibenzo[b,e]thiepin‐11(6H)‐one has been realized, providing the key intermediate of baloxavir marboxil with >99% yield and >99% ee at a substrate/catalyst molar ratio of 1000. Abstract

Silicon‐based materials have been regarded as the most flourishing anode materials owing to the incomparable specific capacity. However, their commercial application is obstructed by huge volume expansion and particle pulverization, which subsequently lead to the stress concentration and the loss of electrical contact, eventually resulting in poor cycling stability and lousy rate performance. Herein, an ion‐conductive binder with boosted ion‐conductivity is proposed by free radical polymerization between acrylic acid and lithiated 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐1‐propanesulfonic acid (LiAMPS). With the aid of ample sulfonic acid anionic groups, rapid lithium‐ion diffusion can be achieved to improve the transport kinetics and rate performance. Meanwhile, superior mechanical properties of binder can alleviate the stress concentration to avoid particle pulverization by noncovalent hydrogen bond. The synergistic strategy of constructing lithium‐ion diffusion pathway and alleviating the stress concentration can make a preeminent improvement on Li+ diffusion coefficient and maintain a high structural integrity of electrode. Benefiting from the synergistic effect, the SiOx microparticle anode delivers a high capacity of 587.8 mAh g−1 after 400 cycles at 1C and preeminent rate performance of 648.6 mAh g−1 at 5C. Such a synergistic design strategy endows P(AA‐co‐LiAMPS) binder with a promising potential for high energy density silicon‐based anodes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Radiofrequency cavity is one of the most critical and complicated components in a cyclotron. Dee voltage of radiofrequency cavity accelerates charged particles to achieve required energy. Peak voltage of Dee is the key parameter of an radiofrequency cavity. Balanced Dee voltage is very important for effective beam cantering and beam extracting. An X-ray measurement has been made to calibrate and verify the peak voltage of Dee in a low-power ( 20 kW) test. The X-ray measurement for radiofrequency cavity was designed by means of bremsstrahlung. A suitable shielding cover was chosen for radiofrequency cavity and the X-ray measurement design was demonstrated according to the theory of photon transmission. Finally, the peak voltage of Dee was obtained at the power of 10-20 kW and the balance of Dee voltage was verified.
