Summary By the use of the renal stop flow technique in dogs with the common duct ligated, we have demonstrated that one of the mechanisms for the excretion of bilirubin by the kidney is an active excretion of conjugated bilirubin by the distal portion of the nephron, including the ascending loop of Henle, distal tubules, the collecting ducts.
