O câncer de mama masculino e uma patologia rara e com poucas publicacoes disponiveis. Apresenta suas proprias particularidades, porem algumas caracteristicas sao comuns ao câncer de mama feminino. Assim, muito do que se sabe atualmente sobre diagnostico e tratamento e extrapolado a partir do conhecimento sobre o acometimento no sexo feminino. O quadro clinico tipico e marcado pelo surgimento de uma nodulacao indolor, em geral em regiao retro areolar. A investigacao da nodulacao ocorre atraves da mamografia e da ultrassonografia mamaria. O tratamento baseia-se na intervencao cirurgica atraves da mastectomia e na hormonioterapia adjuvante. Esta revisao traz um resumo das principais evidencias cientificas acerca dos temas de: epidemiologia, fatores de risco, quadro clinico, diagnostico, tratamento e prognostico do câncer de mama masculino.

156. Pegada Hídrica das culturas de soja, algodão e milho na região oeste do Estado da Bahia

Water catchment to subsidize agricultural activities is estimated at 70% of world consumption. In the western region of Bahia, the main agricultural center of the state, there is intensive use of water for the production of agricultural commodities. In regions with high water demand, quantification of the use of this resource can be performed using anthropic pressure indicators, such as the Water Footprint. Thus, this work determined the Water Footprint of the soybean, cotton, and corn crops produced in the western region of Bahia State. In order to determine the Water Footprint, data of the environmental characteristics and crop production in the region were used, were obtained from different Brazilian public and private institutions. The calculation of Water Footprint of the crops was performed by the sum of the green, blue, and gray components. The average Water Footprint between 2012 and 2017 for soybean corresponded to 1,972.3 m3 t-1, with cotton at 1,825.2 m3 t-1, and corn 512.4 m3 t-1. The analyses of the results and the comparison with the values of the Water Footprint of other regions demonstrate that the edaphoclimatic conditions of the western region of Bahia are propitious to the development of these crops. RESUMO A captação de água doce para subsidiar as atividades agrícolas é estimada em 70% do consumo mundial. Na região oeste da Bahia, maior polo agrícola do estado, verifica-se o uso intensivo de água para a produção de commodities agrícolas. Em regiões com elevada demanda de água, a quantificação do uso desse recurso pode ser realizada utilizando indicadores da pressão antrópica, como a Pegada Hídrica. Deste modo, este trabalho determinou as Pegadas Hídricas das culturas de soja, algodão e milho produzidas na região oeste do Estado da Bahia. A fim de se determinar a Pegada Hídrica foram utilizados dados das características ambientais e de produção das culturas na região, os quais foram obtidos de diferentes instituições públicas e privadas do país. O cálculo das Pegadas Hídricas das culturas foi realizado pela soma das componentes verde, azul e cinza. A Pegada Hídrica média entre 2012 e 2017 para a soja correspondeu a 1.972,3 m3 t-1, sendo a do algodão de 1.825,2 m3 t-1 e a do milho de 512,4 m3 t-1. Na análise dos resultados obtidos e na comparação com os valores de Pegada Hídrica de outras regiões, demonstrou-se que as condições edafoclimáticas da região oeste da Bahia são propícias ao desenvolvimento dessas culturas.

Objetivos: analisar as práticas realizadas na saúde do idoso na Atenção Básica. Método: estudo qualitativo, realizado por meio de entrevista semiestruturada com profissionais de saúde de uma Estratégia Saúde da Família, no município do Rio de Janeiro. O instrumento de coleta de dados foi um roteiro de um questionário semiestruturado e a análise dos dados ocorreu mediante referencial metodológico da análise de conteúdo, proposta por Bardin. O projeto da pesquisa foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade do Rio de Janeiro e pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Secretaria Municipal de Saúde do Rio de Janeiro sob os respectivos pareceres 1.825.251 e 2.011.914. Resultados: entrevistaram-se nove profissionais cujas respostas elucidaram a elaboração da categoria “O conhecimento como limitador da promoção da saúde” e dasseguintes subcategorias: “Falta de conhecimento para atender e organizar o atendimento ao idoso na ESF”; “Ações profissionais de promoção da saúde pautadas no senso comum”; e “Desvalorização do cuidado de Enfermagem”. Conclusão: evidenciou-se que, na Unidade Básica de Saúde em questão, a falta de conhecimento limita a implantação e a execução de ações de promoção da saúdeà população idosa. Sendo uma unidade da Saúde da Família, seria uma possibilidade real a integração da promoção da saúde com o cuidado. O trabalho da equipe de Saúde da Família necessita objetivar o máximo de autonomia dos usuários perante suas necessidades.

Mestrado Bolonha em Contabilidade, Fiscalidade e Finanças Empresariais In January 2019, a new accounting standard for leasing contracts came into effect, IFRS 16, which replaced IAS 17. This new standard, from the lessee perspective, ended the existing distinction between operating leases and finance leases and required the capitalization of almost all the leases. Which, in theory, will have major implications for companies, both at an accounting level, and in terms of the quality of information and in real economy. In this sense, this dissertation aims to analyze the various effects caused by the introduction of IFRS 16. For this, following the framework of Napier & Stadler (2020), the analysis will be divided into accounting effects, information effects and real effects. As a sample, were considered the companies in the STOXX Europe 50, which includes the 50 largest companies in Western Europe. The analysis was then based on the reports of these companies, as well as on their comment letters in relation to the IASB´s proposals for the accounting treatment of leases. The results of this study indicate that, at an accounting level, because of the introduction of IFRS 16, there was significant impact on the assets, liabilities, and EBITDA of the companies and that, consequently, affected the ratios related with the Statement of Financial Position. Also, at the accounting level, there was a considerable increase in the disclosure requirements of IFRS 16 compared to IAS 17. Regarding the information effects, most companies concluded that IFRS 16 does not improve the decision-making of users, due to complexity of the standard and the adjustments that were made before IFRS 16. In addition, it was found that there is almost no communication in relation to IFRS 16, between companies and their stakeholders, beyond the financial report. Regarding the real effects, three possible effects resulting from IFRS 16 were mainly pointed out: the high costs of implementing the standard; the contractual changes in financial contracts; and the disincentive to leases. Em janeiro de 2019 entrou em vigor uma nova norma contabilística relativa aos contratos de locação, a IFRS 16, que veio substituir a IAS 17. Esta nova norma, na perspetiva do locatário, terminou com a distinção existente entre locação operacional e locação financeira e passou a exigir a capitalização de praticamente todas as locações. que, em teoria, terá grandes implicações nas empresas, tanto a nível contabilístico, como ao nível da qualidade da informação e da economia real. Neste sentido, a presente dissertação tem como objetivo analisar os vários efeitos provocados pela introdução da IFRS 16. Para isso será seguida a framework de Napier & Stadler (2020), dividindo-se a análise em efeitos contabilísticos, efeitos ao nível da informação divulgada e efeitos reais. Como amostra, foi considerado as empresas pertencentes ao STOXX Europe 50, que contempla as 50 maiores empresas da Europa Ocidental. A análise baseou-se, então, no relatório e contas destas empresas, bem como, nas suas comment letters em relação às propostas do IASB para o tratamento das locações. Os resultados do estudo indicam que, a nível contabilístico, se verificou, em resultado da introdução da IFRS 16, um impacto significativo no ativo, passivo e EBITDA das empresas e que, consequentemente, os rácios financeiros associados à demonstração da posição financeira também foram afetados significativamente. Ainda em relação aos efeitos contabilísticos, verificou-se um aumento considerável das divulgações exigidas pela IFRS 16 face à IAS 17. No que diz respeito aos efeitos da informação divulgada, a grande parte das empresas concluiu que a IFRS 16 não melhora a tomada de decisão, devido à complexidade da norma e aos ajustamentos que eram realizados antes da IFRS 16. Além disso, verificou-se que não existe, praticamente, comunicação em relação à IFRS 16, entre as empresas e os seus stakeholders, para além do relatório e contas. Relativamente aos efeitos reais, foram apontados, principalmente, três possíveis efeitos resultantes da IFRS 16: os elevados custos de implementação da norma; as alterações contratuais nos contratos de financiamento; e o desincentivo às locações. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

159. ASSOCIAÇÃO DO NURSING ACTIVITIES SCORE COM DESFECHOS DE PACIENTES CRÍTICOS

Objetivo: analisar a associação do Nursing Activities Score com desfechos apresentados nos pacientes em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. Método: trata-se de uma análise transversal de um estudo do tipo coorte prospectivo, utilizado um instrumento elaborado pelos pesquisadores centrais, com o foco ao Nursing Activities Score, que pontua a necessidade de cuidados de enfermagem em 24 horas. Resultados: houve 50 participantes de cada sexo, em sua maioria procedente da emergência (74%), acometidos por distúrbios cardiovasculares (31%) e com Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica como doença de base (58%). Durante a sua internação, prevaleceu o uso de noradrenalina e fentanil (ambos com 14%) e o uso de SVD (35%). No desfecho, observou que 47% desenvolveram infecção, 37% usaram ventilação mecânica por mais de 48 horas, 29% desenvolveram lesão renal aguda e 27% evoluíram ao óbito. Conclusão: o Nursing Activities Score permitiu traçar o perfil clínico dos pacientes, e associar uma maior carga de trabalho aos pacientes com desfechos prejudiciais.

161. Impacts of climate change on the evaporation and availability of water in small reservoirs in the Brazilian savannah

The Cerrado (Brazilian savannah) is one of the few places in the world that has the potential to increase crop production to meet the projected food demand for 2050. However, for agriculture to be sustainable in this region, irrigation must be efficient. This depends on the water stored in small reservoirs, which play an important role in supporting the local economy. The increase in temperature and net radiation predicted by global climate models may increase the evaporation and reduce the availability of water in these small reservoirs. This work assesses the projected impact of climate change on small reservoir evaporation and water availability in the Brazilian savannah using data from the Eta-HadGEM2-ES and Eta-MIROC5 regional climate models under representative concentration pathways (RCP) 4.5 and 8.5. Evaporation increases of 7.3% (1.09 mm/year−1) and 18.4% (2.74 mm/year−1) are projected in RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5, respectively, by the year 2100. The water stored in reservoirs is projected to decrease in the future, resulting in higher risks of failure in water supply, especially from the smaller reservoirs. Overall, evaporation increases are expected to reduce the availability of water in small reservoirs during the dry season by 5.5% in RCP 4.5 and 10.4% in RCP 8.5.

Here, we synthesize a composite of polyaniline and 5-sulfosalicylic acid (PANI-SSA) using a chemical oxidative polymerization method. The as-synthesized composite material was characterized using several physico-chemical and electrochemical techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The as-synthesized PANI-SSA composite shows much higher capacity of 72 mAh g−1 than the pristine PANI (41 mAh g−1). The composite also shows better cyclic stability and retains capacity almost the same after 1000 galvanostatic charge/discharge cycles. This result demonstrates the importance of PANI-SSA as an electrode material for energy storage applications.

Resumo Os modelos hidrológicos conceituais e as Redes Neurais Artificiais (RNAs) podem ser associados, caracterizando uma conformação híbrida que represente, ao mesmo tempo, os processos conceituais e não lineares relacionados ao escoamento. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a utilização das RNAs combinadas aos modelos hidrológicos conceituais IPH II e SAC-SMA, de forma a obter um modelo híbrido para estimativa de vazões dos cursos de água da bacia do rio Piracicaba-MG. Como dados de entrada das RNAs foram utilizadas as vazões estimadas com os modelos IPH II e SAC-SMA e como paradigma neural foi empregado o Perceptron de múltiplas camadas. Para o treinamento e a validação das RNAs foram utilizados dados de estações pluviométricas, fluviométricas e meteorológica localizadas na bacia hidrográfica do rio Piracicaba e no seu entorno. A fim de se verificar o desempenho dos modelos híbridos na estimativa das vazões da bacia do rio Piracicaba, as vazões estimadas por esses modelos foram comparadas com as vazões medidas nas estações fluviométricas utilizando-se o erro absoluto médio (MAE); a raiz do erro quadrático médio (RMSE); o viés; o índice de concordância de Willmott (d); e o índice de eficiência de Nash-Sutcliffe (ENS). A utilização das vazões preditas pelo modelo IPH II como dado de entrada das RNAs aumentou a acurácia das estimativas das vazões visto que o erro do modelo híbrido ficou menor. Já a associação das RNAs com o modelo SAC-SMA não proporcionou melhoria das estimativas quando comparada aos resultados advindos da aplicação isolada do referido modelo. Com base nos resultados obtidos pode-se concluir que a associação das RNAs com o modelo hidrológico IPH II, caracterizando uma conformação híbrida, permitiu melhorar as estimativas das vazões diárias na bacia do rio Piracicaba e que a qualidade das estimativas do modelo híbrido depende do modelo conceitual utilizado. Detectou-se, ainda, que os modelos híbridos tiveram melhor desempenho na estimativa das vazões associadas às maiores áreas de drenagem da bacia do rio Piracicaba. Abstract The association of conceptual hydrological models and artificial neural networks (ANNs) characterizes a hybrid conformation that represents simultaneously conceptual and non-linear processes related to water flow. This study aimed to evaluate the use of ANNs combined with the conceptual hydrological models IPH II and SAC-SMA to obtain a hybrid model for the estimation of watercourse flows in the Piracicaba River basin, located in the state of Minas Gerais - Brazil. The water flow rates estimated by IPH II and SAC-SMA models were used as input data for the ANN, and a multi-layered perceptron was employed as a neural paradigm. Data from pluviometric, fluviometric, and meteorological stations located in the studied basin and surrounding areas were used for the ANN training and validation. To verify the performance of the hybrid models in estimating water flow, the estimated flow rates were compared with those measured in the fluviometric stations using mean absolute error (MAE), root mean square error (RMSE), bias, Willmott’s concordance index, and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency index (Ef). The results showed that the use of IPH II model as input data for an ANN increased the accuracy of flow prediction as the hybrid model error decreased. Conversely, if compared to the results from its isolated application, when associated with the ANN, SAC-SMA-model did not improve water flow estimates. Lastly, the hybrid conformation using the IPH II hydrological model improved daily flow estimates of the Piracicaba River basin; therefore, the quality of estimates in a hybrid model depends on the conceptual model used. In addition, the hybrid models had better performance when estimating water flows in larger drainage areas within the Piracicaba River basin.

ObjectiveHelicobacter pylori (Hp) is a major risk factor for gastric cancer (GC). Hp promotes DNA damage and proteasomal degradation of p53, the guardian of genome stability. Hp reduces the expression of the transcription factor USF1 shown to stabilise p53 in response to genotoxic stress. We investigated whether Hp-mediated USF1 deregulation impacts p53-response and consequently genetic instability. We also explored in vivo the role of USF1 in gastric carcinogenesis.DesignHuman gastric epithelial cell lines were infected with Hp7.13, exposed or not to a DNA-damaging agent camptothecin (CPT), to mimic a genetic instability context. We quantified the expression of USF1, p53 and their target genes, we determined their subcellular localisation by immunofluorescence and examined USF1/p53 interaction. Usf1-/- and INS-GAS mice were used to strengthen the findings in vivo and patient data examined for clinical relevance.ResultsIn vivo we revealed the dominant role of USF1 in protecting gastric cells against Hp-induced carcinogenesis and its impact on p53 levels. In vitro, Hp delocalises USF1 into foci close to cell membranes. Hp prevents USF1/p53 nuclear built up and relocates these complexes in the cytoplasm, thereby impairing their transcriptional function. Hp also inhibits CPT-induced USF1/p53 nuclear complexes, exacerbating CPT-dependent DNA damaging effects.ConclusionOur data reveal that the depletion of USF1 and its de-localisation in the vicinity of cell membranes are essential events associated to the genotoxic activity of Hp infection, thus promoting gastric carcinogenesis. These findings are also of clinical relevance, supporting USF1 expression as a potential marker of GC susceptibility.

RESUMO A outorga de direito de uso da água é um dos principais instrumentos de gestão para controle quantitativo e qualitativo dos recursos hídricos. Para sua implantação, é necessário, entre outras ações, definir critérios e desenvolver ferramentas para análise integrada dos aspectos quantitativos e qualitativos da água. Dessa forma, o objetivo do estudo foi desenvolver um sistema para análise das outorgas de captação de água e diluição de efluentes aplicado à bacia hidrográfica do rio Piracicaba (MG). Inicialmente, foram realizados o levantamento e a preparação da base de dados geográfica, hidrológica e administrativa. O sistema foi desenvolvido utilizando tecnologias open source, sendo estruturado em três camadas: de dados, de negócios e de apresentação. De acordo com os resultados, constatou-se que os trechos mais críticos quanto à vazão passível de outorga localizam-se na foz e na cabeceira do rio Piracicaba. A análise dos dados permitiu concluir que o sistema determina, de forma consistente, a disponibilidade hídrica outorgável ao longo da hidrografia e as vazões de diluição e indisponível pelos lançamentos, além de identificar trechos dos cursos d’água com disponibilidade hídrica crítica, fornecendo subsídios para análises das outorgas quali-quantitativas dos recursos hídricos na bacia. ABSTRACT The granting of water use rights is one of the main management instruments for the quantitative and qualitative control of water resources. For its implementation, it is necessary, among other actions, to develop tools for integrated analysis of the quantitative and qualitative aspects of water. Thus, the objective of the study was to create a system for the analysis of water abstraction and effluent dilution in the Piracicaba river basin in Minas Gerais. Initially, the survey and preparation of the geographic, hydrological and administrative database were carried out. The system was developed using open-source technologies, with a three-layer structure: data, business, and presentation. According to the results, it was verified that the most critical sections regarding the grantable flow available are located at the mouth and spring of the Piracicaba river. The analysis of the data allowed us to conclude that the system consistently determines the availability of water throughout the hydrography, the dilution flow and discharge unavailability, and identifies stretches of the watercourses with critical water availability, providing support for analyses of the quali-quantitative granting of water resources in the basin.

Objectives The in vitro antileishmanial effect of analogues of resveratrol (AR) present in the N-aryl imines and N-aryl hydrazones series was investigated. In addition, possible parasite targets were evaluated. Methods Antipromastigote activity of Leishmania amazonensis, L. braziliensis and L. infantum, as well as the cytotoxicity on macrophages was determined by MTT assay and L. braziliensis-infected macrophages effect by Giemsa stain. After staining, effects on the parasite targets were analysed by flow cytometry or by fluorescence microscopy. Key-findings Among the tested compounds, the derivative AR26 showed the best effect against promastigotes of all Leishmania species (IC50 < 3.0 µg/ml), being more active than miltefosine, the control drug. AR26 was also effective against amastigotes of L. braziliensis (IC50 = 15.9 µg/ml), with low toxicity to mammalian cells. The evaluation of mechanism of action of AR26 on L. braziliensis promastigotes indicates mitochondrial potential depolarization, plasma membrane permeabilization, interference in the progression of the cell cycle and accumulation of autophagic vacuoles. In addition, any increase of the reactive oxygen species levels was detected in the treated L. braziliensis-macrophages. Conclusions Data indicate that the antileishmanial activity of AR26 is related to multitarget action, and the resveratrol analogues could be used in future studies as antileishmanial agent.

Trata-se de uma necessidade manifesta de apresentação dos propósitos e valores existentes nos documentos, para que seja possível a construção de caminhos como possibilidades de dar vida às diretrizes no lugar eno tempo em que o processo educativo humanizador deve ocorrer de fato – a escola. Para tanto, parte-se de uma análise documental, para relatar algumas construções que vêm sendo desenvolvidas pelo Grupo de Pesquisa Observatório de Políticas Públicas (UTFPR) a partir de ações de pesquisa, extensão e ensino integradas em um processo de envolvimento crescente de pesquisadores e de alunos no biênio 2013-2015. Tais construções contaram com a contribuição das experiências na licenciatura em Matemática do Programade Mestrado Profissional em Ensino, bem como das participações em eventos. Espera-se oferecer uma contribuição ao processo decompreensão das Diretrizes e das formas pelas quais é possível humanizar a educação brasileira.

O objetivo deste artigo é analisar os efeitos pós-barragem da instalação de Usinas hidrelétricas nos municípios do Estado do Tocantins[1] e a contribuição no desenvolvimento local propagado por esses empreendimentos. Como metodologia foi analisado o índice de desenvolvimento regional (IDR) e as variáveis econômicas: Imposto sobre circulação de mercadoria e serviços (ICMS), Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) e número de empregos. Os principais resultados apontam que mesmo havendo uma melhoria do IDR, os efeitos positivos das barragens foram pontuais e em períodos específicos da construção, observados pelo comportamento das variáveis nos anos antes e depois dos empreendimentos. Essa observação nos permitiu fazer uma analogia com a teoria econômica do boom-colapso (boom and bust), que demonstra um alto índice de crescimento no período de implementação que depois não se mantém. As conclusões apontam que a promessa de desenvolvimento local propagada na aprovação do empreendimento, não se consolidou nas localidades pesquisadas. Podem ter ocorrido benefícios a nível nacional atendendo a necessidade de expansão energética, no entanto, não ficou demonstrado impactos positivos em nível local, além disso, as implicações ambientais e sociais podem ser maiores do que o retorno alcançado.

In regions with intense irrigation, the use of fertirrigation increases crop productivity, but excessive fertilizer application increases the risk of soil salinization. Therefore, this work used leaching equations to evaluate systems of remediation of soils salinized by excess fertilizers. The phases of the study were: salinization of soils in lysimeters, remediation of these soils, and measurement of salt concentrations in soils for comparison with estimates of empirical equations. The treatments combined soil remediation systems (continuous and intermittent) with five initial levels of soil salinity (2.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0, and 10.0 dS m-1). The experimental design was randomized blocks with six replicates. The Volobuyev equation best represented the salinized soil remediation in relation to the results obtained experimentally. The equations tested showed better performance in the intermittent remediation system compared to the continuous system. Resumen En las regiones con riego intenso, la fertirrigación aumenta la productividad de los cultivos, pero la aplicación excesiva de fertilizantes aumenta el riesgo de salinización del suelo. Por lo tanto, se utilizaron ecuaciones de lixiviación para evaluar sistemas de recuperación de suelos salinizados por exceso de fertilizantes. Las fases del estudio fueron: la salinización de los suelos en lisímetros, la recuperación de estos suelos y la medición de las concentraciones de sal en los suelos para la comparación con estimaciones de ecuaciones empíricas. Los tratamientos combinaron sistemas de recuperación del suelo (continuo e intermitente) en cinco niveles iniciales de salinidad del suelo (2,0; 4,0; 6,0; 8,0 y 10,0 dS m-1). El diseño experimental fue de bloques al azar con seis repeticiones. La ecuación de Volobuyev representó mejor la remediación del suelo salinizado en relación con los resultados obtenidos experimentalmente. Las ecuaciones evaluadas mostraron un mejor desempeño en el sistema intermitente que en el sistema continuo.

Crop load or carbohydrate availability, affects the phyllochron, leaf length, and leaf area of proleptic and epicormic shoots on mature, field-grown Prunus persica trees. It is well known that shoot growth rates can be strongly influenced by availability of carbohydrates to support growth. Additionally, carbohydrate availability for vegetative growth is influenced by crop load, since fruits are strong sinks for photosynthates. Thus, while crop load is known to have significant effects on shoot growth rates it is not clear whether this effect is limited to extension growth rates of internodes or whether it also affects shoot development such as the rate at which nodes are added to shoots, i.e., the phyllochron. In this study, we investigated the effect of the presence and absence of the crop on the phyllochron of proleptic and epicormic shoots on mature, field-grown peach trees. Leaf growth measurements were recorded three times per week from the beginning to the end of the growing season and used to calculate the phyllochron on trees from two treatments; one with 100% of the crop left on it (unthinned or fully cropped) and a treatment of trees where the crop was completely removed (non-cropped). The phyllochron fluctuated but generally increased over the season due to a rank effect. The phyllochron was longer on trees with heavy crop loads. Although there were large differences in phyllochrons between treatments in both shoot types, only differences observed in epicormic shoots were statistically significant. Additionally, leaf length and leaf area were also significantly reduced by crop load in both shoot types. These findings indicate that the phyllochron of field-grown peach trees is apparently sensitive to carbohydrate availability in the tree and should be considered when trying to accurately predict the timing of the addition of new phytomers along a shoot.

BackgroundDiscrimination among HIV types is important because HIV-2 is naturally resistant to some of the first-line drugs used in the treatment of HIV-1. We evaluated three assays for HIV-type discriminatory capacity: SD Bioline HIV 1/2 3.0 (Bioline), First Response HIV 1-2-0 Card Test (First Response) and Genie III HIV-1/HIV-2 (Genie III).MethodsBased on results from the Bioline assay, samples from 239 HIV-infected patients from the Bissau HIV cohort in Guinea-Bissau were retrospectively selected for evaluation. Genie III and First Response were scored by three independent readers and compared with a reference test (INNO-LIA HIV I/II Score) confirmed by HIV RNA as well as DNA detection.ResultsThe best performing test was Genie III, with an average agreement with the reference test of 93.4%, followed by First Response (86.1%) and Bioline (72.4%). First Response and Bioline were scored with a false high number of HIV-1/2 dual infections. For both First Response and Genie III, there were discrepancies among independent readers, and some tests were scored as HIV non-reactive.ConclusionsUsing these rapid tests with a suboptimal performance will presumably result in a high rate of false HIV-1/2 dual diagnoses, depriving patients of alternative treatment options in cases of treatment failure.

BACKGROUND: For unknown reasons, HIV-2 is less pathogenic than HIV-1, and HIV-2-induced immunodeficiency may be different from that caused by HIV-1. Previous immunological studies have hinted at possible shifts in both T-cell and B-cell subsets, which we aimed to characterize further. METHODS: From an HIV clinic in Guinea-Bissau, 63 HIV-2, 83 HIV-1, and 26 HIV-negative participants were included. All HIV-infected participants were ART-naive. The following cell subsets were analysed by flow cytometry; T cells (maturation and activation), regulatory T cells, and B cells (maturation and activation). RESULTS: After standardizing for sex, age, and CD4 T-cell count HIV-2 had 0.938 log10 copies/ml lower HIV RNA levels than the HIV-1-infected patients. Whereas T-cell maturation and regulatory T-cell profiles were similar between patients, HIV-2-infected patients had higher proportions of CD8CD28 and lower proportions of CD8PD-1+ T cells than HIV-1-infected patients. This finding was independent of HIV RNA levels. HIV-2 was also associated with a more preserved proportion of naive B cells. CONCLUSION: HIV-2 is characterized by lower viral load, and lower T-cell activation, which may account for the slower disease progression.

The Brazilian Savanna biome is the main agricultural region of Brazil and is facing a growing water shortage and conflicts that tend to expand to new areas and intensify in those already stressed, which is hindering the economic development of the region. Small reservoirs play an important role in supporting the local economy in the savanna areas of Brazil. Hundreds of small reservoirs have been built in the last twenty years in the region. They were constructed by individual farmers or projects funded by different agencies without any coordination and knowledge that the reservoirs are part of a complex hydrologic system. The lack of reservoir basic information and appropriate methods to quantify water supply, demand and losses are hindering efficient water management. In this context, evaporation is a non beneficial loss to the water system and should be better quantified. The present study aimed to improve methods for estimating small reservoir evaporation in the Brazilian savanna region. The study area was the Buriti Vermelho watershed, where the evaporation were measured in Class A pans installed inside and outside of a small reservoir. Pan coefficients were calculated on a monthly, seasonal and annual basis. In addition, equations for estimating evaporation based on climatic variables were developed. The pan coefficients values varied throughout the year from 0.72 to 0.92, with mean absolute error (MAE) ranging from 0.32 to 0.52 mm d−1. The two best climatic equations presented MAE of 0.44 mm d−1, while equations that used solar radiation and relative humidity as input also presented good performance.

Infections caused by microorganisms of the Candida genus represent a major cause of morbidity and mortality among the population. Therefore, this study aimed at evaluating the antifungal activity and toxicity of resveratrol-analog Schiff bases. Faced with Candida albicans ATCC 10,231, the broth microdilution method was used, along with amphotericin B as the reference drug. The toxicity was evaluated in human keratinocyte cells and against Artemia salina. All analogs were active against the microorganism and caused structural changes in the yeast. The minimum inhibitory concentration was lower for analog A (156.3 µg mL−1), followed by B (312.5 µg mL−1), C (312.5 µg mL−1) and D (625 µg mL−1); while the minimum fungicidal concentration was lower for A (1,250 µg mL−1), B (1,250 µg mL−1) and D (1,250 µg mL−1), followed by C (2,500 µg mL−1). In keratinocytes, the compounds presented cell viability between 50.9 and 93%. Against A. salina, the compounds presented moderate cytotoxic activity. The compound with the nitro group, an electron withdrawing group, in the para position presented better antifungal activity. Em oito anos de magistério, o quotidiano de várias unidades escolares foi, ao mesmo tempo, um aprendizado, uma prática e um objeto de pesquisa. Questões que de uma forma ou de outra se fizeram presentes na vida do autor como aluno da rede pública, e que se apresentaram no dia-a-dia da prática docente tais como o deslocamento, a proximidade/distância da escola, o esforço para vencer os obstáculos em relação ao acesso e à permanência se fizeram presentes neste estudo. O uso do território é proposto como ponto de partida para repensar a rede e a sua organização, bem como as questões que se relacionam à distribuição de vagas nas escolas públicas, mais precisamente no que diz respeito à chamada ¿ciranda das vagas¿ e seus efeitos numa escola pública de Campinas ¿ a E.E. João Lourenço Rodrigues ¿ no Cambuí. Da organização da rede pública de ensino aos impactos dessa ¿ciranda¿ no quotidiano da unidade escolar, é discutida a possibilidade do planejamento das ações e das políticas públicas de educação ser reorientado pelas demandas dos cidadãos e a partir dos usos efetivos do território. Em tempos de transição demográfica, faz-se necessário pensar a rede de escolas públicas a partir das possibilidades contemporâneas de uso e deslocamento no território, como forma de alcançar cada vez mais os cidadãos Abstract: This is, at the same time, a paper about and a trajectory through the ¿Escola Pública Paulista¿ (Public School of São Paulo). In eight years of teaching, the daily activities of several school units were, simultaneously, an apprenticeship, practice and an object for research. Matters, which were present, one way or another, in the author¿s life as a student of a public school system, and that were part of the every day docent practice, such as, dislocation, proximity/distance of the school, effort to overcome difficulties in the access to and in continuing in the school are discussed in this research. Use of territory is proposed as a starting point to rethink the public school system and its organization, as well as matters related to the distribution of vacancies in public schools, particularly concerning the ¿vacancy circle¿ (¿ciranda das vagas¿) and its effects in a public school ¿ E.E. João Lourenço Rodrigues ¿ in the city of Campinas at Cambuí street. The possibility of redirecting the public educational actions and policies according to the demands of the citizens, and the effective use of territory is discussed in this paper, taking into consideration the organization of the public school system and the impacts of the ¿circle¿ in the daily activities of the school unit. PURPOSE: To estimate the life expectancy (LE) of HIV-infected patients in the West African country Guinea-Bissau and compare it with the background population.METHODS: Using data from the largest HIV outpatient clinic at the Hospital Nacional Simão Mendes in the capital Bissau, a retrospective observational cohort study was performed. The study included patients attending the clinic between June 2005 and January 2018. A total of 8958 HIV-infected patients were included. In the analysis of the background population, a total of 109,191 people were included. LE incorporating loss to follow-up (LTFU) was estimated via Kaplan-Meier estimators using observational data on adult HIV-infected patients and background population.RESULTS: The LE of 20-year-old HIV-infected patients was 9.8 years (95% CI 8.3-11.5), corresponding to 22.3% (95% CI 18.5-26.7%) of the LE of the background population. (LE for 20-year-olds in the background population was 44.0 years [95% CI 43.0-44.9].) Patients diagnosed with CD4 cell counts below 200 cells/µL had a LE of 5.7 years (95% CI 3.6-8.2). No increase in LE with later calendar period of diagnosis was observed.CONCLUSIONS: LE was shown to be markedly lower among HIV-infected patients compared with the background population. While other settings have shown marked improvements in prognosis of HIV-infected patients in recent years, no improvement in Bissau was observed over time (9.8 years (95% CI 7.6-12.2) and 9.9 years (95% CI 7.6-12.1) for the periods 2005-2010 and 2014-2016, respectively).

Este estudo tem por finalidade apresentar reflexões sobre a formação inicial de professores a partir dos pressupostos da educação inclusiva e da Educação em Direitos Humanos (EDH). Metodologicamente, este trabalho se caracteriza a partir da análise documental e da revisão bibliográfica. Dentre as discussões, constata que a inclusão parte da defesa da educação como um direito humano, reconhece e valoriza a diversidade humana como fonte qualitativa no processo de aprendizagem. Essa discussão se articula com os princípios da EDH, em especial, com o da dignidade humana e com o de reconhecimento e valorização das diferenças e das diversidades. Destaca que, a partir da confrontação entre os documentos analisados, o princípio de dignidade da pessoa humana está em consonância com o Parecer no. 08/2012 e Resolução no. 01/2012, bem como, as novas diretrizes para formação docente. Orientador: Newton Cesário Frateschi Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Fisica Gleb Wataghin Resumo: O objetivo principal desta tese foi buscar materiais que pudessem gerar ganho óptico por emissão estimulada usando como base o silício e, consequentemente, usar estes materiais em dispositivos fotônicos. A base de emissão ativa usada neste trabalho foi o Silício Amorfo dopado com íons de terra rara, Érbio, (a-Si) com emissão de luz característica na região da banda C usada em telecomunicações ópticas ( ~1550 nm ). O trabalho mostra o desenvolvimento e a evolução da emissão em 1550 nm em diversas condições de fabricação de a-Si, passando por sua oxigenação, criação de nanocristais de silício e com o desenvolvimento de estruturas ressonantes. Com estas amostras sugerimos e fabricamos estruturas compatíveis com tecnologia de Silício tais como microdisco suspensos de Silício e cristais fotônicos bidimensionais baseados em membranas suspensas. Os resultados obtidos ao longo desta tese mostram a viabilidade do uso de íons de Er3+ como dopantes em Si para estas aplicações específicas pois conseguimos aumentar a emissão em 1550 nm destes materiais em mais de 135 mil vezes e também propusemos, experimentalmente, estruturas fotônicas passíveis de se ter ganho, ou seja, que demonstram indícios de emissão estimulada, com estes materiais abrindo caminho, para o uso do Érbio em tecnologias de fotônica de silício Abstract: The main goal of this work was to find materials that could generate stimulated optical gain based on silicon, and, consequently, use these materials in photonic devices. The sample structure used for this work was amorphous silicon doped with earth rare ions, Erbium (a- Si) with characteristic light emission in the C-band region used in telecommunication (~1550nm). The work shows the development and evolution of the 1550nm emission in many a-Si fabrication conditions, from oxygenation, silicon nano-crystals formation, to the development of resonant structures. With these samples, we have fabricated with these material that were compatible with Silicon technology such as Silicon microdisks and active bidimensional photonic crystal resonator membrane. The results suggest the viability of the use of Er3+ ions as dopant in Si for these specific applications since we were able to increase the 1550nm emission of these materials in over 135 thousand times. We also proposed, experimentally, photonic structures that could generate gain, meaning that they have shown signs of stimulated emission opening a path for the use of Erbium in silicon photonic technologies Doutorado Física Doutor em Ciências

Objectives Evaluation of the anti-Leishmanial activity of imidazoquinoline-based TLR7/8 agonists. Methods TLR7/8-active imidazoquinolines (2 and 3) were synthesized and assessed for activity against Leishmania amazonensis-intracellular amastigotes using mouse peritoneal macrophages. The production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO) and cytokines was determined in infected and non-infected macrophages. Key findings The imidazoquinolines, 2 and 3, were primarily agonists of TLR7 with compound 3 also showing modest TLR8 activity. Docking studies showed them to occupy the same binding pocket on TLR7 and 8 as the known agonists, imiquimod and resiquimod. Compounds 2 and 3 inhibited the growth of L. amazonensis-intracellular amastigotes with the most potent compound (3, IC50 = 5.93 µM) having an IC50 value close to miltefosine (IC50 = 4.05 µM), a known anti-Leishmanial drug. Compound 3 induced macrophages to produce ROS, NO and inflammatory cytokines that likely explain the anti-Leishmanial effects. Conclusions This study shows that activating TLR7 using compounds 2 or 3 induces anti-Leishmanial activity associated with induction of free radicals and inflammatory cytokines able to kill the parasites. While 2 and 3 had a very narrow cytotoxicity window for macrophages, this identifies the possibility to further develop this chemical scaffold to less cytotoxic TLR7/8 agonist for potential use as anti-Leishmanial drug.

The reconciliation between the environment and development of agricultural activities constitutes a serious challenge for the management of natural resources, considering that the inappropriate use of the land can trigger significant damages along the watersheds. Thus, this work aims to analyze the environmental fragility and the land use capacity as instruments of subsidy to the environmental planning of the Caratinga River basin, Brazil. The assessment of potential fragility was performed by multicriteria analysis of soil fragility factors, geology, relief dissection, and rainfall. To determine the real susceptibility to environmental degradation, land use and land cover variables were included in the analysis. The land was classified in the system of use capacity, verifying the existing conflicts with the current land use. Bivariate Moran's I index was used to evaluate spatial autocorrelation between the analysis. The results showed that the Caratinga River basin presents medium to high potential fragility, with over half of the area in the high environmental fragility class. Compared to the analysis of environmental fragility, the land classification methodology showed spatial autocorrelation significant and determined a similar area of the basin used above its capacity, making it possible to indicate pastures and areas of exposed soil as priorities for the application of restoration policies. Thus, it is concluded that the reconciliation of the two methodologies, including the analysis of environmental degradation factors together with the understanding of the maximum capacity for agricultural use, constitutes a fundamental action to subsidize the adequate planning of land use in watersheds.

Biomass pyrolysis usually occurs in a fluidized bed reactor formed by sand, biomass, and biochar. Dynamics this fluidization differs from that of literature because the biomass is converted continually in biochar. In this study, a series of experiments have been carried out for ternary mixtures of sand, sisal residue, and biochar, varying the compositions and particle size. The tests were based on two simplification hypotheses (steady state and room temperature) due to fast biomass transformation in bed and low Van der Waals force to large particles. The dynamic characteristics determined included the bed pressure drop and bed fluctuation. The single and combined effects of particle size and composition on the final fluidization velocity (Uff) and particle segregation (S) have been analyzed using response surface (RSM). The Uff and S minimum values were found when the variables were in the smallest particle size and composition levels. New correlations were developed for predicting the values of Uff. The error from measured values when using the new correlation was 7.6%, while the literature equation was 9.7%. The present correlations predicted reasonably well predicted the Uff of ternary mixtures in the fast pyrolysis bed.

Missing data in historical rainfall series are common in Brazilian conditions, making unfeasible several hydrological studies that rely on these data. In this context, orbital sensor products represent a potential tool for estimating rainfall. As a result, this study aims to assess the applicability of data from the Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission (TRMM) and the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission to estimate missing hydrological data in monthly rainfall series from surface rain gauges, testing its estimation’s accuracy. Three rain gauges located in the Doce river watershed were selected to simulate and estimate missing hydrological data using linear regression and regional weighting techniques, using historical series of neighboring gauges and TRMM/GPM’s pixels. Although the estimations using TRMM/GPM data were not the most accurate for all the rain gauges, their performance evaluation, done with the Nash–Sutcliffe Efficiency Ratio (NSE) and the Wilmott Concordance Index (d), showed that the estimations obtained are considered good and satisfactory (NSE > 0.75 and 0.36

A pandemia por covid-19 impulsionou o crescimento da taxa de desemprego mundial e das dificuldades de entrada dos jovens no mercado de trabalho. O projeto europeu SocialNEET, que se enquadra no âmbito dos subsídios da European Economic Area (EEA) e da Noruega, financiados pela Islândia, Liechtenstein e Noruega, apesar de ter surgido antes do contexto pandémico atual, pode ser um excelente contributo para melhorar as competências dos jovens NEET (Not in Employment and not in Education or Training). O projeto SOCIALNEET, no qual o Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (IPB) em Portugal está envolvido, é um desses contributos e tem vindo a ser ajustado a esta nova realidade, adequando-se as novas regras e restrições sanitárias impostas ao mundo. No IPB, a execução do SocialNEET aconteceu através da associação entre mentores, professores e estudantes facilitadores para potenciar a futura integração no mercado de trabalho dos jovens que não trabalham e nem estudam. Ou seja, os facilitadores NEET simplificaram a ligação entre os Mentores NEET (empresários e consultores de sucesso no distrito) e a sua equipa de formandos NEET, contribuindo para a sua (re)inserção no mercado de trabalho. Após a divulgação e identificação dos jovens NEET (com idade entre 18-29 anos) e seu envolvimento neste projeto, o primeiro conjunto de atividades pretendeu perceber as suas reais motivações e estimular o auto e hétero conhecimento, fomentando o diálogo em torno da identificação dos interesses e competências dos participantes NEET e do seu contexto social. Para tal, foram realizadas diversas dinâmicas de grupo. De seguida, os mesmos foram instruídos e acompanhados a criar uma ideia de negócio social, projeto social ou de vida utilizando as ferramentas, tecnologias e conceitos de planeamento aprendidos durante a trajetória de formação oferecida pelo projeto, para estimular a criatividade, a inovação e o espírito empreendedor dos participantes. Ou seja, realizaram-se atividades de (auto)descoberta do perfil e das características de empreendedor de cada participante, com o intuito de melhor compreender o papel dos empreendedores na sociedade, em geral, e no distrito de Bragança, em particular. Foram então criados 3 grupos de formandos e facilitadores, que usaram as principais técnicas de geração de ideias (brainstorming e SCAMPER) e as ferramentas para a sua representação em mapas mentais ou de conceitos, com vista a compreender e utilizar um dos processos de geração de ideias durante o processo criativo Walt Disney. O SocialNEET procurou criar um ambiente de atividades práticas para a conceção de ideias que, como referido, fruto da situação pandémica, teve algumas sessões online que recorreram a ferramentas, tais como: videoconferência Zoom e trabalho em grupos simultâneos; mind42.com para mapas mentais e Cmaptools para mapas de conceitos; creately.com, miro.com, canvasgeneration.com ou stormboard.com para a criação do mapa de empatia e do business model canvas. Para avaliar a participação dos formandos NEET, recorreu-se a um questionário no Google forms, que nos permitiu perceber que esta proposta levou à aquisição de soft skills e de competências de empreendedorismo, tendo sido considerada uma experiência gratificante para os NEET por: (i) Desenvolver nos jovens o espírito empreendedor; (ii) Promover integração entre comunidade e a academia, desfazendo o caráter elitista normalmente atrelado a instituições de ensino superior; (iii) Permitir criar projetos e ações inovadoras no país na esfera social; e (iv) Estimular o desenvolvimento de habilidades profissionais e pessoais nos facilitadores ou estudantes do IPB. Em jeito de conclusão, apesar da baixa adesão de formandos NEET, que pode ser explicada pelo contexto instável da pandemia, a execução do projeto ocorreu de forma muito satisfatória. The covid-19 pandemic has boosted world unployment rate and the difficulties of young people entering the professional market. The european SocialNEET project, that fits within the scope of European Economic Area (EEA) and Norway subsidies, funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, even though has rise before the current pandemic context, can be an excellent contribute to improving the young people skills NEET (Not in Employment and not in Education or Training). The SocialNEET project, which Polythecnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) in Portugal is involved, it is one of these contribuitions and has been adjust with this new reality, adapting to the new health rules and restrictions imposed on the world. At IPB, the SocialNEET implemetation happened through association between mentors, teachers and facilitators students to potentiate the future integration in professional market of young people who does not work or study. In other words, NEET facilitators will simplify the connection between NEET Mentors (entrepeneurs and successfull consultants in the district) and their team of NEET trainees, contributing to their (re) entering in professional market. After the dissemination and identification of NEET young people (18-29 years old) and their involvement in this project, the first group of activities hopes to understand their real motivations and to stimulate self and hetero knowledge, instigating dialogue around the identification of interests and skills of NEET participants their social context. To reach that, several group dynamics were made. After that, the NEET trainees were instructed and accompanied to create an idea of social business, social or life project using the tools, technologies and planning concepts learned during the trainning trajectory offered by the project, to stimulate creativity, innovation and a entrepeunerial spirit of the participants. However, activities were carried out to (self) discover the entrepreneur profile and characteristics of each participant, in order to better understand the role of entrepreneurs in society, in general, and in the district of Bragança, in particular.Then, 3 groups of trainees and facilitators were created, who used the main techniques of generating ideas (brainstorming and SCAMPER) and the tools for their representation in mind or concept maps, in order to understand and use one of the processes of generating ideas during the Walt Disney creative process. SocialNEET sought to create an environment of practical activities for the conception of ideas that, as mentioned, as a result of the pandemic situation, had some online sessions that used tools, such as: Zoom videoconference and working in simultaneous groups; mind42.com for mind maps and Cmaptools for concept maps; creately.com, miro.com, canvasgeneration.com or stormboard.com for creating the empathy map and business model canvas. To assess the participation of NEET trainees, a questionnaire was used in Google forms, which allowed us to realize that this proposal led to the acquisition of soft skills and entrepreneurial skills, having been considered a rewarding experience for NEET by: (i ) Developing an entrepreneurial spirit in young people; (ii) Promote integration between the community and the academy, undoing the elitist character normally linked to higher education institutions; (iii) Allow the creation of innovative projects and actions in the country in the social sphere; and (iv) Stimulate the development of professional and personal skills in IPB facilitators or students. 191. Influence of changes in land use and land cover and rainfall on the streamflow regime of a watershed located in the transitioning region of the Brazilian Biomes Atlantic Forest and Cerrado

Climate change and the intensification of anthropogenic activities in watersheds have been substantially changing the streamflow regime, which is a problem for water resource managers. This study assesses the influence of the changes in land use and land cover and rainfall on the streamflow regime. This study also models the pattern of these streamflows according to the rainfall and land use and land cover in the Santo Antonio River watershed, located in the transitioning region of the Brazilian Biomes Atlantic Forest and Cerrado. To assess the dynamic relationship between land use and land cover and the streamflow regime, five classes of land use and land cover were used. To characterize the hydrological pattern, data from six streamflow gauges and 24 rainfall gauges that influence the study area were used. Multiple regression models were adjusted to estimate streamflow using the explanatory variables rainfall and land use and land cover. As result, a direct relationship was found, as the decrease in streamflow in some drainage areas was influenced by the decrease in rainfall over the base period. The relationship between land use and land cover and streamflow was not significant. The reductions in the streamflow regimes over the years in the watershed were influenced by reductions in annual rainfall, which reduced about 19% while the water withdrawals from 2003 to 2014 increased 2350%. The results found in this study are useful to the water managers since they can estimate streamflow in any part of the studied river through rainfall and land use and land cover data. This helps to reduce the risks associated with the water allocation process.

192. Concurrent validity and reliability of the load-velocity relationship to predict the one-repetition maximum during three weightlifting derivatives

The study investigated the concurrent validity and reliability of the load-velocity relationship to predict the one-repetition maximum (1RM) of the power clean from the knee (PCK), high pull from the knee (HPK), and mid-thigh clean pull (MTCP). For each exercise, 12 participants performed two 1RM sessions tests and two sessions to measure the barbell’s load-velocity relationship at 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90% of 1RM. The velocity recorded at each load was used to establish the linear regression equation and, consequently, to predict 1RM value. A low validity between the 1RM direct test and predicted 1RM was observed for PCK (typical error [TE]=3.96 to 4.50 kg, coefficient of variation [CV]=4.68 to 5.27%, effect size [ES]=-0.76 to -0.58, Bland-Altman bias [BAB]=9.83 to 11.19 kg), HPK (TE=4.58 to 5.82 kg, CV=6.44 to 8.14%, ES=-0.40 to -0.39, BAB=3.52 to 4.17 kg), and MTCP (TE=6.33 to 8.08 kg, CV=4.78 to 6.16%, ES=-0.29 to -0.19, BAB=3.98 to 6.17 kg). Adequate reliability was observed for the 1RM direct test and for the predicted 1RM. However, based on Bland-Altman limits of agreement, lower measurement errors were obtained for the 1RM direct test in comparison to the predicted 1RM for all the exercises. In conclusion, the load-velocity relationship was not able to predict 1RM values with high accuracy in the PCK, HPK, and MTCP. Moreover, the 1RM direct test was the most reliable for PCK, HPK and MTCP.

O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar, interpretar e explicar os lugares indígenas dentro da demarcação limites do Tratado de Santo Ildefonso (1777), por meio do diário de José Maria Cabrer. Intitulado "Diário da la Segunda Subdivision de Limites Española entre los Dominios de España y Portugal en la America Meridional Por el segundo comisario y geógrafo de ella, D.n Joseph Maria Cabrer Ayudante del Real Cuerpo de Yngenieros Principiada en 29 de Diciembre de 1783 y finalisada en 26 de Octubro de 1801". Onde procuro estabelecer uma análise sobre os grupos nativos e suas capacidades de ação e não só de reação dentro da demarcação de limites, procurando, a partir do diário como fonte primária, entender como tantos indígenas poderiam ter ou tiveram um importante papel como sujeitos históricos na construção dos trabalhos demarcatórios na América do Sul do século XVIII. Objective: To analyze the scientific production on the history of deafness, in Brazil, and the relationship between the doctor and the deaf patient. Method: It is an integrative review, supported by the qualitative method, including manuscripts published in the SciELO, PubMed and BVS databases using the descriptors “Doctor-patient relationship AND Deafness AND Sign Language”, “Doctor-patient relationship AND Deafness”, “ Doctor-patient relationship AND Sign Language ”, in Portuguese and English, in title or abstract. Results: Of the 267 selected articles, preliminarily, only 32 were used for analysis with emphasis on the objectives of the study. Based on the relevant texts, the evolution of the history of deaf education, the emergence of the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) and its importance for the relationship between the doctor and the patient were analyzed. Final considerations: It was found that there are few articles dealing with the subject matter of the investigation. There is a need for advancement in research that deals with the Brazilian Sign Language as a mechanism capable of improving the relationship between doctor and deaf patients. It is concluded that the relationship between doctor and deaf patient remains a barrier caused by the lack of knowledge of Libras, with the potential to result in wrong diagnoses, breach of medical confidentiality, as well as frustrations on the part of the patient. Objetivo: Analizar la producción científica sobre la historia de la sordera, en Brasil, y la relación entre el médico y el paciente sordo. Método: Es una revisión integradora, sustentada en el método cualitativo, que incluye manuscritos publicados en las bases de datos SciELO, PubMed y BVS utilizando los descriptores “Relación médico-paciente Y Sordera Y Lenguaje de Señas”, “Relación médico-paciente Y Sordera”, “ Relación médico-paciente Y Lengua de Signos ”, en portugués e inglés, en título o resumen. Resultados: De los 267 artículos seleccionados, de manera preliminar, solo 32 fueron utilizados para análisis con énfasis en los objetivos del estudio. A partir de los textos relevantes, se analizó la evolución de la historia de la educación de los sordos, el surgimiento de la Lengua de Signos Brasileña (LIBRAS) y su importancia para la relación entre el médico y el paciente. Consideraciones finales: Se constató que existen pocos artículos que abordan el tema de la investigación. Es necesario avanzar en la investigación que aborde la Lengua de Signos Brasileña como un mecanismo capaz de mejorar la relación entre el médico y los pacientes sordos. Se concluye que la relación entre médico y paciente sordo sigue siendo una barrera provocada por la falta de conocimiento de Libra, con el potencial de resultar en diagnósticos erróneos, violación de la confidencialidad médica, así como frustraciones por parte del paciente. Há a necessidade de avanço nas pesquisas que tratam da Língua Brasileira de Sinais enquanto mecanismo apto a melhorar a relação médico-pacientes surdos. Conclui-se que a relação entre médico e paciente surdo continua sendo uma barreira causada pela falta de conhecimento de Libras, com potencial para implicar em diagnósticos errados, quebra de sigilo médico, bem como frustrações por parte do paciente.
