151. Visual-Semantic Graph Matching Net for Zero-Shot Learning

Abstract: Zero-shot learning (ZSL) aims to leverage additional semantic information to recognize unseen classes. To transfer knowledge from seen to unseen classes, most ZSL methods often learn a shared embedding space by simply aligning visual embeddings with semantic prototypes. However, methods trained under this paradigm often struggle to learn robust embedding space because they align the two modalities in an isolated manner among classes, which ignore the crucial class relationship during the alignment process. To address the aforementioned challenges, this paper proposes a Visual-Semantic Graph Matching Net, termed as VSGMN, which leverages semantic relationships among classes to aid in visual-semantic embedding. VSGMN employs a Graph Build Network (GBN) and a Graph Matching Network (GMN) to achieve two-stage visual-semantic alignment. Specifically, GBN first utilizes an embedding-based approach to build visual and semantic graphs in the semantic space and align the embedding with its prototype for first-stage alignment. Additionally, to supplement unseen class relations in these graphs, GBN also build the unseen class nodes based on semantic relationships. In the second stage, GMN continuously integrates neighbor and cross-graph information into the constructed graph nodes, and aligns the node relationships between the two graphs under the class relationship constraint. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrate that VSGMN achieves superior performance in both conventional and generalized ZSL scenarios. 152. Teaching Video Diffusion Model with Latent Physical Phenomenon Knowledge

Abstract: Video diffusion models have exhibited tremendous progress in various video generation tasks. However, existing models struggle to capture latent physical knowledge, failing to infer physical phenomena that are challenging to articulate with natural language. Generating videos following the fundamental physical laws is still an opening challenge. To address this challenge, we propose a novel method to teach video diffusion models with latent physical phenomenon knowledge, enabling the accurate generation of physically informed phenomena. Specifically, we first pretrain Masked Autoencoders (MAE) to reconstruct the physical phenomena, resulting in output embeddings that encapsulate latent physical phenomenon knowledge. Leveraging these embeddings, we could generate the pseudo-language prompt features based on the aligned spatial relationships between CLIP vision and language encoders. Particularly, given that diffusion models typically use CLIP's language encoder for text prompt embeddings, our approach integrates the CLIP visual features informed by latent physical knowledge into a quaternion hidden space. This enables the modeling of spatial relationships to produce physical knowledge-informed pseudo-language prompts. By incorporating these prompt features and fine-tuning the video diffusion model in a parameter-efficient manner, the physical knowledge-informed videos are successfully generated. 153. Multi-hop Differential Topology based Algorithms for Resilient Network of UAV Swarm

Abstract: Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarm networks face severe challenges of communication network split (CNS) issues caused by massive damage in hostile environments. In this paper, we propose a new paradigm to restore network connectivity by repositioning remaining UAVs based on damage information within local topologies. Particularly, the locations of destroyed UAVs distributed in gaps between disconnected sub-nets are considered for recovery trajectory planning. Specifically, we construct the multi-hop differential sub-graph (MDSG) to represent local damage-varying topologies. Based on this, we develop two distinct algorithms to address CNS issues. The first approach leverages an artificial potential field algorithm to calculate the recovery velocities via MDSG, enabling simple deployment on low-intelligence UAVs. In the second approach, we design an MDSG-based graph convolution framework to find the recovery topology for high-intelligence swarms. As per the unique topology of MDSG, we propose a novel bipartite graph convolution operation, enhanced with a batch-processing mechanism to improve graph convolution efficiency. Abstract: The $C\!P$ asymmetry and branching fraction of the CKM-suppressed decay $B^+\!\to J\mskip -3mu/\mskip -2mu\psi\,\pi^+$ are precisely measured relative to the favoured decay $B^+\!\to J\mskip -3mu/\mskip -2mu\psi\,K^+$, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $5.4~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ recorded at center-of-mass energy of $13~\mathrm{TeV}$ during 2016--2018. 155. A More Advanced Group Polarization Measurement Approach Based on LLM-Based Agents and Graphs

Abstract: Group polarization is an important research direction in social media content analysis, attracting many researchers to explore this field. Therefore, how to effectively measure group polarization has become a critical topic. Measuring group polarization on social media presents several challenges that have not yet been addressed by existing solutions. First, social media group polarization measurement involves processing vast amounts of text, which poses a significant challenge for information extraction. Second, social media texts often contain hard-to-understand content, including sarcasm, memes, and internet slang. Additionally, group polarization research focuses on holistic analysis, while texts is typically fragmented. To address these challenges, we designed a solution based on a multi-agent system and used a graph-structured Community Sentiment Network (CSN) to represent polarization states. Furthermore, we developed a metric called Community Opposition Index (COI) based on the CSN to quantify polarization. Finally, we tested our multi-agent system through a zero-shot stance detection task and achieved outstanding results. In summary, the proposed approach has significant value in terms of usability, accuracy, and interpretability.

156. UrbanDiT: A Foundation Model for Open-World Urban Spatio-Temporal Learning

Abstract: The urban environment is characterized by complex spatio-temporal dynamics arising from diverse human activities and interactions. Effectively modeling these dynamics is essential for understanding and optimizing urban systems In this work, we introduce UrbanDiT, a foundation model for open-world urban spatio-temporal learning that successfully scale up diffusion transformers in this field. UrbanDiT pioneers a unified model that integrates diverse spatio-temporal data sources and types while learning universal spatio-temporal patterns across different cities and scenarios. This allows the model to unify both multi-data and multi-task learning, and effectively support a wide range of spatio-temporal applications. Its key innovation lies in the elaborated prompt learning framework, which adaptively generates both data-driven and task-specific prompts, guiding the model to deliver superior performance across various urban applications. UrbanDiT offers three primary advantages: 1) It unifies diverse data types, such as grid-based and graph-based data, into a sequential format, allowing to capture spatio-temporal dynamics across diverse scenarios of different cities; 2) With masking strategies and task-specific prompts, it supports a wide range of tasks, including bi-directional spatio-temporal prediction, temporal interpolation, spatial extrapolation, and spatio-temporal imputation; and 3) It generalizes effectively to open-world scenarios, with its powerful zero-shot capabilities outperforming nearly all baselines with training data. These features allow UrbanDiT to achieves state-of-the-art performance in different domains such as transportation traffic, crowd flows, taxi demand, bike usage, and cellular traffic, across multiple cities and tasks. UrbanDiT sets up a new benchmark for foundation models in the urban spatio-temporal domain.

157. Miscentering of Optical Galaxy Clusters Based on Sunyaev-Zeldovich Counterparts

Abstract: The "miscentering effect," i.e., the offset between a galaxy cluster's optically-defined center and the center of its gravitational potential, is a significant systematic effect on brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) studies and cluster lensing analyses. We perform a cross-match between the optical cluster catalog from the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) Survey S19A Data Release and the Sunyaev-Zeldovich cluster catalog from Data Release 5 of the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT). We obtain a sample of 186 clusters in common in the redshift range $0.1 \leq z \leq 1.4$ over an area of 469 deg$^2$. By modeling the distribution of centering offsets in this fiducial sample, we find a miscentered fraction (corresponding to clusters offset by more than 330 kpc) of ~25%, a value consistent with previous miscentering studies. We examine the image of each miscentered cluster in our sample and identify one of several reasons to explain the miscentering. Some clusters show significant miscentering for astrophysical reasons, i.e., ongoing cluster mergers. Others are miscentered due to non-astrophysical, systematic effects in the HSC data or the cluster-finding algorithm. After removing all clusters with clear, non-astrophysical causes of miscentering from the sample, we find a considerably smaller miscentered fraction, ~10%. We show that the gravitational lensing signal within 1 Mpc of miscentered clusters is considerably smaller than that of well-centered clusters, and we suggest that the ACT SZ centers are a better estimate of the true cluster potential centroid., Comment: 20 pages, 15 figures. Abstract: Adversarial examples represent a serious issue for the application of machine learning models in many sensitive domains. For generating adversarial examples, decision based black-box attacks are one of the most practical techniques as they only require query access to the model. One of the most recently proposed state-of-the-art decision based black-box attacks is Triangle Attack (TA). In this paper, we offer a high-level description of TA and explain potential theoretical limitations. We then propose a new decision based black-box attack, Triangle Attack with Reinforcement Learning (TARL). Our new attack addresses the limits of TA by leveraging reinforcement learning. This creates an attack that can achieve similar, if not better, attack accuracy than TA with half as many queries on state-of-the-art classifiers and defenses across ImageNet and CIFAR-10.

Abstract: In the study of cosmology and galaxy evolution, the peculiar velocity and density field of dark matter (DM) play a crucial role in studying many issues. Here, we propose a UNet-based deep learning to reconstruct the real-space DM velocity field from the spatial distribution of a sparse sample of DM halos in redshift space. By comparing and testing various properties, we demonstrate that the reconstructed velocity field is in good agreement with the actual situation. At $k<0.3~h/{\rm Mpc}$, the reconstruction of various velocity field components, including velocity magnitude and divergence, outperforms traditional linear perturbation theory. Additionally, the effects of redshift space distortions (RSD) are well corrected using the UNet model. Compared to the true real-space power spectra, the UNet reconstruction provides an unbiased estimate of the density, velocity, and momentum fields, remaining consistent within $2\sigma$ level. We also demonstrate that the UNet model remains effective even with limited information about halo masses. 160. Weak Host Interactions Induced Thermal Transport Properties of Metal Halide Perovskites Deviating from the Rattling Model

Abstract: The low-frequency phonon branches of metal halide perovskites typically exhibit the characteristic of hardening with the increase of the cation mass, which leads to anomalous thermal transport phenomenon. However, the underlying physical mechanism is not yet understood. Here, we theoretically compare the thermal transport properties of $A_2$SnI$_6$ ($A$=K, Rb, and Cs) perovskites. The thermal transport in perovskites is widely explained using the rattling model, where ``guest'' cations inside the metal halide framework act as ``rattlers'', but this fails to explain the following phenomenon: The low-frequency phonon branch of $A_2$SnI$_6$ perovskites is insensitive to the mass of the $A^+$ cation and strongly correlated with the interaction of the $A^+$ cation with the I$^-$ anion in the octahedral structures. The failure of the rattling model stems mainly from the weak interactions between the octahedral structures. By developing a new spring model, we successfully explain the thermal transport behavior in $A_2$SnI$_6$ perovskites. Our work gives new insights into the thermal transport mechanism in metal halide perovskites, which has a guiding significance for designing extremely low thermal conductivity materials.

Abstract: An angular analysis of the $B_s^0 \rightarrow \phi e^+e^-$ decay is performed using the proton-proton collision dataset collected between 2011 and 2018 by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $9\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and $13\,{\rm TeV}$. The analysis is performed in the very low dielectron invariant mass-squared region between $0.0009$ and $0.2615\,{\rm GeV}^2\!/c^4$. The longitudinal polarisation fraction of the $\phi$ meson is measured to be less than $11.5\%$ at $90\%$ confidence level. The $A_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathcal{R}e C\!P}$ observable, which is related to the lepton forward-backward asymmetry, is measured to be $0.116 \pm 0.155 \pm 0.006$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The transverse asymmetries, $A_{\mathrm{T}}^{(2)}$ and $A_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathcal{I}m C\!P}$ , which are sensitive to the virtual photon polarisation, are found to be $-0.045 \pm 0.235 \pm 0.014$ and $0.002 \pm 0.247 \pm 0.016$, respectively. 162. Channel-Adaptive Wireless Image Semantic Transmission with Learnable Prompts

Abstract: Recent developments in Deep learning based Joint Source-Channel Coding (DeepJSCC) have demonstrated impressive capabilities within wireless semantic communications system. However, existing DeepJSCC methodologies exhibit limited generalization ability across varying channel conditions, necessitating the preparation of multiple models. Optimal performance is only attained when the channel status during testing aligns precisely with the training channel status, which is very inconvenient for real-life applications. In this paper, we introduce a novel DeepJSCC framework, termed Prompt JSCC (PJSCC), which incorporates a learnable prompt to implicitly integrate the physical channel state into the transmission system. Specifically, the Channel State Prompt (CSP) module is devised to generate prompts based on diverse SNR and channel distribution models. Through the interaction of latent image features with channel features derived from the CSP module, the DeepJSCC process dynamically adapts to varying channel conditions without necessitating retraining. Comparative analyses against leading DeepJSCC methodologies and traditional separate coding approaches reveal that the proposed PJSCC achieves optimal image reconstruction performance across different SNR settings and various channel models, as assessed by Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Learning-based Perceptual Image Patch Similarity (LPIPS) metrics. Furthermore, in real-world scenarios, PJSCC shows excellent memory efficiency and scalability, rendering it readily deployable on resource-constrained platforms to facilitate semantic communications.

163. Anomalous-Hall Neel textures in altermagnetic materials

Abstract: Recently, the altermagnets, a new kind of colinear antiferromagnet with zero net magnetization and momentum-dependent spin-splitting of bands, have sparked great interest. Despite simple magnetic structures, these altermagnets exhibit intriguing and intricate dependence of AHE on the N\'eel vector, in contrast to the conventional perpendicular configuration of Hall current with magnetization in ferromagnets. However, the relationship between the AHE and the N\'eel vector remains largely elusive. Here, we propose an "extrinsic parameter" method and further reveal diverse unconventional anomalous Hall textures in the N\'eel vector space, dubbed anomalous-Hall N\'eel textures (AHNTs), for altermagnets. Notably, we find that AHNTs resemble the spin textures in momentum space, and identify 10 types across four categories of AHNTs in altermagnets. Meanwhile, we examine our key discoveries in prototypical altermagnets. Our work can offer a methodology for detecting N\'eel vectors via anomalous Hall transport, and provide useful guidelines for designing electronic and optoelectronic devices based on altermagnets.

Abstract: In this paper, we review legal testing methods based on Large Language Models (LLMs), using the OPENAI o1 model as a case study to evaluate the performance of large models in applying legal provisions. We compare current state-of-the-art LLMs, including open-source, closed-source, and legal-specific models trained specifically for the legal domain. Systematic tests are conducted on English and Chinese legal cases, and the results are analyzed in depth. Through systematic testing of legal cases from common law systems and China, this paper explores the strengths and weaknesses of LLMs in understanding and applying legal texts, reasoning through legal issues, and predicting judgments. The experimental results highlight both the potential and limitations of LLMs in legal applications, particularly in terms of challenges related to the interpretation of legal language and the accuracy of legal reasoning. Finally, the paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of various types of models, offering valuable insights and references for the future application of AI in the legal field.

165. The Magnetic Dislocation in Photonics

Abstract: The dislocation created in the topological material lays the foundation of many significant findings to control light but requires delicate fabrication of the material. To extend its flexibility and reconfigurability, we propose the magnetic dislocation concept and unveil its properties in a representative model, which effectively combines the topological defect and edge mode at the magnetic domain wall. The results include distinct localization modes and robust light trapping phenomena with the rainbow feature where the eigen-energy of each light-trapping state can be linearly tuned by the magnetic dislocation. The conversion from the trapping state to edge modes can be harnessed by further adiabatically pumping light across an amount of the magnitude of the magnetic dislocation. Our work solves a fundamental problem by introducing magnetic dislocation with new light-manipulation flexibility, which may be implemented in a variety of platforms in photonic, acoustics, and optomechanics with dynamic modulations and synthetic dimensions.

Abstract: The first measurement of $\phi(1020)$ meson production in fixed-target $p$Ne collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=68.5$ GeV is presented. The $\phi(1020)$ mesons are reconstructed in their $K^{+}K^{-}$ decay in a data sample consisting of proton collisions on neon nuclei at rest, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $21.7 \pm 1.4$ nb$^{-1}$, collected by the LHCb detector at CERN. 168. TEESlice: Protecting Sensitive Neural Network Models in Trusted Execution Environments When Attackers have Pre-Trained Models

Abstract: Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) are used to safeguard on-device models. However, directly employing TEEs to secure the entire DNN model is challenging due to the limited computational speed. Utilizing GPU can accelerate DNN's computation speed but commercial widely-available GPUs usually lack security protection. To this end, scholars introduce TSDP, a method that protects privacy-sensitive weights within TEEs and offloads insensitive weights to GPUs. Nevertheless, current methods do not consider the presence of a knowledgeable adversary who can access abundant publicly available pre-trained models and datasets. This paper investigates the security of existing methods against such a knowledgeable adversary and reveals their inability to fulfill their security promises. Consequently, we introduce a novel partition before training strategy, which effectively separates privacy-sensitive weights from other components of the model. Our evaluation demonstrates that our approach can offer full model protection with a computational cost reduced by a factor of 10. In addition to traditional CNN models, we also demonstrate the scalability to large language models. Our approach can compress the private functionalities of the large language model to lightweight slices and achieve the same level of protection as the shielding-whole-model baseline., Comment: Accepted by TOSEM. 169. Planning by Simulation: Motion Planning with Learning-based Parallel Scenario Prediction for Autonomous Driving

Abstract: Planning safe trajectories for autonomous vehicles is essential for operational safety but remains extremely challenging due to the complex interactions among traffic participants. Recent autonomous driving frameworks have focused on improving prediction accuracy to explicitly model these interactions. However, some methods overlook the significant influence of the ego vehicle's planning on the possible trajectories of other agents, which can alter prediction accuracy and lead to unsafe planning decisions. In this paper, we propose a novel motion Planning approach by Simulation with learning-based parallel scenario prediction (PS). PS deduces predictions iteratively based on Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS), jointly inferring scenarios that cooperate with the ego vehicle's planning set. Our method simulates possible scenes and calculates their costs after the ego vehicle executes potential actions. To balance and prune unreasonable actions and scenarios, we adopt MCTS as the foundation to explore possible future interactions encoded within the prediction network. Moreover, the query-centric trajectory prediction streamlines our scene generation, enabling a sophisticated framework that captures the mutual influence between other agents' predictions and the ego vehicle's planning. We evaluate our framework on the Argoverse 2 dataset, and the results demonstrate that our approach effectively achieves parallel ego vehicle planning.

Abstract: The widespread use of image acquisition technologies, along with advances in facial recognition, has raised serious privacy concerns. Face de-identification usually refers to the process of concealing or replacing personal identifiers, which is regarded as an effective means to protect the privacy of facial images. A significant number of methods for face de-identification have been proposed in recent years. In this survey, we provide a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art face de-identification methods, categorized into three levels: pixel-level, representation-level, and semantic-level techniques. We systematically evaluate these methods based on two key criteria, the effectiveness of privacy protection and preservation of image utility, highlighting their advantages and limitations. Our analysis includes qualitative and quantitative comparisons of the main algorithms, demonstrating that deep learning-based approaches, particularly those using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and diffusion models, have achieved significant advancements in balancing privacy and utility. Experimental results reveal that while recent methods demonstrate strong privacy protection, trade-offs remain in visual fidelity and computational complexity. This survey not only summarizes the current landscape but also identifies key challenges and future research directions in face de-identification.

171. Chiral Gravitational Wave Background from Audible Axion via Nieh-Yan Term

Abstract: Axions and axion-like particles can be probed through gravitational waves indirectly, often referred to as "audible axions". The usual concept of audible axion relies on the coupling between the axions and the gauge fields. Here we consider an axion-like mechanism with coupling to the Nieh-Yan term. This interaction leads to the direct and efficient production of gravitational waves during the radiation-dominated era, originating from the tachyonic instability of the gravitational perturbations with the Nieh-Yan term. We calculate the energy spectral density of the chiral gravitational wave background and the comoving energy density of axion-like fields. 172. Search for the $\gamma Z$ decay mode of heavy photophobic axion-like particles at the LHC

Abstract: We assume the coupling of Axion-like particle (ALP) to diphoton $g_{a\gamma\gamma} \sim 0$ and accomplish detailed analyses for the $\gamma Z$ decay mode of such heavy photophobic ALPs at the high luminosity-Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). ALPs are produced with two jets via both the $s$-channel vector boson exchange and vector boson fusion processes, with the signal process $pp \to jj\, a (\to \gamma\, Z (\to \ell^+ \ell^-)\, ) $ for $\ell = e, \mu$. Signal and background events are simulated at the detector-level. Preselection criteria target events with one photon, two oppositely charged electrons or muons, and two non-$b$-tagged jets. The ALP mass is reconstructed, and kinematic observables are input into a machine learning-based multivariate analysis for optimal background rejection. Discover sensitivities on the ALP's coupling to di-$W$ boson, $g_{aWW}$, are presented in the mass range from 100 to 4000 GeV at center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 14$ TeV and integrated luminosity $\mathcal{L} =$ 3 ab$^{-1}$ and 140 fb$^{-1}$. Abstract: We investigate the effect of top Al2O3 interlayer thickness on the memory window (MW) of Si channel ferroelectric field-effect transistors (Si-FeFETs) with TiN/Al$_2$O$_3$/Hf$_{0.5}$Zr$_{0.5}$O$_2$/SiO$_x$/Si (MIFIS) gate structure. We find that the MW first increases and then remains almost constant with the increasing thickness of the top Al2O3. The phenomenon is attributed to the lower electric field of the ferroelectric Hf$_{0.5}$Zr$_{0.5}$O$_2$ in the MIFIS structure with a thicker top Al2O3 after a program operation. The lower electric field makes the charges trapped at the top Al2O3/Hf0.5Zr0.5O$_2$ interface, which are injected from the metal gate, cannot be retained. Furthermore, we study the effect of the top Al$_2$O$_3$ interlayer thickness on the reliability (endurance characteristics and retention characteristics). We find that the MIFIS structure with a thicker top Al$_2$O$_3$ interlayer has poorer retention and endurance characteristics. 175. Variable-Length Feedback Codes via Deep Learning

Abstract: Variable-length feedback coding has the potential to significantly enhance communication reliability in finite block length scenarios by adapting coding strategies based on real-time receiver feedback. Designing such codes, however, is challenging. While deep learning (DL) has been employed to design sophisticated feedback codes, existing DL-aided feedback codes are predominantly fixed-length and suffer performance degradation in the high code rate regime, limiting their adaptability and efficiency. This paper introduces deep variable-length feedback (DeepVLF) code, a novel DL-aided variable-length feedback coding scheme. By segmenting messages into multiple bit groups and employing a threshold-based decoding mechanism for independent decoding of each bit group across successive communication rounds, DeepVLF outperforms existing DL-based feedback codes and establishes a new benchmark in feedback channel coding.

Abstract: Ultrasound (US)-guided needle insertion is widely employed in percutaneous interventions. However, providing feedback on the needle tip position via US image presents challenges due to noise, artifacts, and the thin imaging plane of US, which degrades needle features and leads to intermittent tip visibility. In this paper, a Mamba-based US needle tracker MambaXCTrack utilizing structured state space models cross-correlation (SSMX-Corr) and implicit motion prompt is proposed, which is the first application of Mamba in US needle tracking. The SSMX-Corr enhances cross-correlation by long-range modeling and global searching of distant semantic features between template and search maps, benefiting the tracking under noise and artifacts by implicitly learning potential distant semantic cues. By combining with cross-map interleaved scan (CIS), local pixel-wise interaction with positional inductive bias can also be introduced to SSMX-Corr. The implicit low-level motion descriptor is proposed as a non-visual prompt to enhance tracking robustness, addressing the intermittent tip visibility problem. 178. Dual-Valued Functions of Dual Matrices with Applications in Causal Emergence

Abstract: Dual continuation, an innovative insight into extending the real-valued functions of real matrices to the dual-valued functions of dual matrices with a foundation of the G\^ateaux derivative, is proposed. Theoretically, the general forms of dual-valued vector and matrix norms, the remaining properties in the real field, are provided. In particular, we focus on the dual-valued vector $p$-norm $(1\!\leq\! p\!\leq\!\infty)$ and the unitarily invariant dual-valued Ky Fan $p$-$k$-norm $(1\!\leq\! p\!\leq\!\infty)$. The equivalence between the dual-valued Ky Fan $p$-$k$-norm and the dual-valued vector $p$-norm of the first $k$ singular values of the dual matrix is then demonstrated. Practically, we define the dual transitional probability matrix (DTPM), as well as its dual-valued effective information (${\rm{EI_d}}$). Additionally, we elucidate the correlation between the ${\rm{EI_d}}$, the dual-valued Schatten $p$-norm, and the dynamical reversibility of a DTPM. Through numerical experiments on a dumbbell Markov chain, our findings indicate that the value of $k$, corresponding to the maximum value of the infinitesimal part of the dual-valued Ky Fan $p$-$k$-norm by adjusting $p$ in the interval $[1,2)$, characterizes the optimal classification number of the system for the occurrence of the causal emergence.

Abstract: The growth of recommender systems (RecSys) is driven by digitization and the need for personalized content in areas such as e-commerce and video streaming. The content in these systems often changes rapidly and therefore they constantly face the ongoing cold-start problem, where new items lack interaction data and are hard to value. Existing solutions for the cold-start problem, such as content-based recommenders and hybrid methods, leverage item metadata to determine item similarities. The main challenge with these methods is their reliance on structured and informative metadata to capture detailed item similarities, which may not always be available. This paper introduces a novel approach for cold-start item recommendation that utilizes the language model (LM) to estimate item similarities, which are further integrated as a Bayesian prior with classic recommender systems. This approach is generic and able to boost the performance of various recommenders. 180. Triad of Equivalence Theorems for the Radiant Intensity of Partially Coherent Beams on Scattering

Abstract: By using Laplace's method for double integrals and the so-called beam condition obeyed by a partially coherent beamlike light field, we report the equivalence theory (ET) of partially coherent beams on scattering for the first time. We present the necessary and sufficient condition for the two scattered fields that have the same normalized radiant intensity distribution when Gaussian Schell-model beams whose effective beam widths are much greater than the effective transverse spectral coherence lengths are scattered by Gaussian Schell-model media. We find that the condition contain three implications, and each of them corresponds to a statement of an ET of radiant intensity in a scattering scenario, which exposes the concept of a previously unreported triad of ETs for the radiant intensity of partially coherent beams on scattering. We further find that the existing ET of plane waves on scattering, which only asserts that two scatterers with scattering potentials' correlations whose low-frequency antidiagonal spatial Fourier components are identical, essentially is merely the first member of our triad of ETs, while the other two hidden important members are completely ignored. Our findings are crucial for the inverse scattering problem since they contribute to avoid possible reconstruction errors in realistic situations, where the light field used to illuminate an unknown object is a partially coherent beam rather than an idealized plane wave.

By incorporating online news and analysis texts as qualitative data, the proposed PSO-LSTM model demonstrates superior performance compared to traditional econometric and machine learning models. The research employs advanced text mining techniques, including sentiment analysis using the RoBERTa-Large model and topic modeling with LDA. Empirical findings underscore the significant advantage of incorporating textual data, with the PSO-LSTM model outperforming benchmark models such as SVM, SVR, ARIMA, and GARCH. Ablation experiments reveal the contribution of each textual data category to the overall forecasting performance. Abstract: The Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) paradigm has emerged as a powerful approach for scaling transformers with improved resource utilization. However, efficiently fine-tuning MoE models remains largely underexplored. Inspired by recent works on Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT), we present a unified framework for integrating PEFT modules directly into the MoE mechanism. Aligning with the core principles and architecture of MoE, our framework encompasses a set of design dimensions including various functional and composition strategies. By combining design choices within our framework, we introduce Parameter-Efficient Routed Fine-Tuning (PERFT) as a flexible and scalable family of PEFT strategies tailored for MoE models. Extensive experiments on adapting OLMoE-1B-7B and Mixtral-8$\times$7B for commonsense and arithmetic reasoning tasks demonstrate the effectiveness, scalability, and intriguing dynamics of PERFT. 183. The Boundary Effect of QGP Droplet and Self-similarity Effect of Hadrons on QGP-hadron Phase Transition

Abstract: We investigate the boundary effect of QGP droplet and self-similarity effect of hadrons on QGP-hadron phase transition. In intermediate or low energy collisions, when the transverse momentum is below QCD scale, QGP cannot be produced. However, if the transverse momentum fluctuates to a relatively large value, small scale QGP droplet is produced. The modified MIT bag model with multiple reflection expansion method is employed to study the QGP droplet with the curved boundary effect. It is found that the energy density, entropy density and pressure of QGP with the influence are smaller than those without the influence. In hadron phase, we propose Two-Body Fractal Model (TBFM) to study the self-similarity structure, arising from the resonance, quantum correlation and interaction effects. It is observed that energy density, entropy density and pressure increase due to the self-similarity structure. We calculate the transverse momentum spectra of pions with the self-similarity structure influence, showing a good agreement with the experimental data. Considering both the boundary effect and self-similarity structure influence, our model predicts an increase in the transition temperature compared to scenarios without these two effects in HIAF energy region $2.2\sim 4.5 \,\text{GeV}$., Comment: 28 pages, 9 figures

184. White-Box Diffusion Transformer for single-cell RNA-seq generation

Abstract: As a powerful tool for characterizing cellular subpopulations and cellular heterogeneity, single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology offers advantages of high throughput and multidimensional analysis. However, the process of data acquisition is often constrained by high cost and limited sample availability. To overcome these limitations, we propose a hybrid model based on Diffusion model and White-Box transformer that aims to generate synthetic and biologically plausible scRNA-seq data. Diffusion model progressively introduce noise into the data and then recover the original data through a denoising process, a forward and reverse process that is particularly suitable for generating complex data distributions. White-Box transformer is a deep learning architecture that emphasizes mathematical interpretability. By minimizing the encoding rate of the data and maximizing the sparsity of the representation, it not only reduces the computational burden, but also provides clear insight into underlying structure. Our White-Box Diffusion Transformer combines the generative capabilities of Diffusion model with the mathematical interpretability of White-Box transformer. Through experiments using six different single-cell RNA-Seq datasets, we visualize both generated and real data using t-SNE dimensionality reduction technique, as well as quantify similarity between generated and real data using various metrics to demonstrate comparable performance of White-Box Diffusion Transformer and Diffusion Transformer in generating scRNA-seq data alongside significant improvements in training efficiency and resource utilization. 185. Unraveling the Gradient Descent Dynamics of Transformers

Abstract: While the Transformer architecture has achieved remarkable success across various domains, a thorough theoretical foundation explaining its optimization dynamics is yet to be fully developed. In this study, we aim to bridge this understanding gap by answering the following two core questions: (1) Which types of Transformer architectures allow Gradient Descent (GD) to achieve guaranteed convergence? and (2) Under what initial conditions and architectural specifics does the Transformer achieve rapid convergence during training? By analyzing the loss landscape of a single Transformer layer using Softmax and Gaussian attention kernels, our work provides concrete answers to these questions. Our findings demonstrate that, with appropriate weight initialization, GD can train a Transformer model (with either kernel type) to achieve a global optimal solution, especially when the input embedding dimension is large. Nonetheless, certain scenarios highlight potential pitfalls: training a Transformer using the Softmax attention kernel may sometimes lead to suboptimal local solutions. In contrast, the Gaussian attention kernel exhibits a much favorable behavior. Our empirical study further validate the theoretical findings.

Abstract: Recently, quadrupedal locomotion has achieved significant success, but their manipulation capabilities, particularly in handling large objects, remain limited, restricting their usefulness in demanding real-world applications such as search and rescue, construction, industrial automation, and room organization. This paper tackles the task of obstacle-aware, long-horizon pushing by multiple quadrupedal robots. We propose a hierarchical multi-agent reinforcement learning framework with three levels of control. The high-level controller integrates an RRT planner and a centralized adaptive policy to generate subgoals, while the mid-level controller uses a decentralized goal-conditioned policy to guide the robots toward these sub-goals. A pre-trained low-level locomotion policy executes the movement commands. We evaluate our method against several baselines in simulation, demonstrating significant improvements over baseline approaches, with 36.0% higher success rates and 24.5% reduction in completion time than the best baseline. Our framework successfully enables long-horizon, obstacle-aware manipulation tasks like Push-Cuboid and Push-T on Go1 robots in the real world.

Abstract: Extreme weather events have led to long-duration outages in the distribution system (DS), necessitating novel approaches to blackstart and restore the system. Existing blackstart solutions utilize blackstart units to establish multiple microgrids, sequentially energize non-blackstart units, and restore loads. However, these approaches often result in isolated microgrids. In DER-aided blackstart, the continuous operation of these microgrids is uncertain due to the finite energy capacity of commonly used blackstart units, such as battery energy storage (BES)-based grid-forming inverters (GFMIs). To address this issue, this article proposes a holistic blackstart and restoration framework that incorporates synchronization between microgrids and the entire DS with the transmission grid (TG). To support synchronization, we leveraged virtual synchronous generator-based control for GFMIs to estimate their frequency response to load pick-up events using only initial/final quasi-steady-state points. Subsequently, a synchronization switching condition was developed to model synchronizing switches, aligning them seamlessly with a linearized branch flow problem. Finally, we designed a bottom-up blackstart and restoration framework that considers the switching structure of the DS, energizing/synchronizing switches, DERs with grid-following inverters, and BES-based GFMIs with frequency security constraints. The proposed framework is validated in IEEE-123-bus system, considering cases with two and four GFMIs under various TG recovery instants.

190. MBL-CPDP: A Multi-objective Bilevel Method for Cross-Project Defect Prediction via Automated Machine Learning

Abstract: Cross-project defect prediction (CPDP) leverages machine learning (ML) techniques to proactively identify software defects, especially where project-specific data is scarce. However, developing a robust ML pipeline with optimal hyperparameters that effectively use cross-project information and yield satisfactory performance remains challenging. In this paper, we resolve this bottleneck by formulating CPDP as a multi-objective bilevel optimization (MBLO) method, dubbed MBL-CPDP. It comprises two nested problems: the upper-level, a multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem, enhances robustness and efficiency in optimizing ML pipelines, while the lower-level problem is an expensive optimization problem that focuses on tuning their optimal hyperparameters. Due to the high-dimensional search space characterized by feature redundancy and inconsistent data distributions, the upper-level problem combines feature selection, transfer learning, and classification to leverage limited and heterogeneous historical data. Meanwhile, an ensemble learning method is proposed to capture differences in cross-project distribution and generalize across diverse datasets. Finally, a MBLO algorithm is presented to solve this problem while achieving high adaptability effectively. To evaluate the performance of MBL-CPDP, we compare it with five automated ML tools and $50$ CPDP techniques across $20$ projects. Abstract: Studying the periodic flux-variation behavior of blazars is vital for probing supermassive black hole binaries and the kinematics of relativistic jets. In this work, we report the detection of the multi-band possible periodic variations of the blazar PKS J2134-0153, including the infrared ($1.6(\pm0.4)\times 10^3$ days) and optical ($1.8(\pm1)\times 10^3$ days). The periods in the infrared and optical bands are statistically consistent with the period in the radio band ($P_{\mathrm{Radio}}$$ = 1760\pm33$ days, obtained from our previous work). Moreover, flux variations in different bands are correlated with evident inter-band time delays, and the time lags of infrared and optical emission with respect to radio emission are $(3.3\pm2.3)\times10^{2}$ days and $(3.0\pm2.3)\times10^{2}$ days, respectively. The cross-correlations indicate a common origin of radio, infrared, and optical emission. The relative positions between emission regions of infrared and optical emission to radio emission are estimated according to the time lags, i.e., $0.37\pm0.26$ pc and $0.33\pm0.26$ pc. Abstract: By representing knowledge in a primary triple associated with additional attribute-value qualifiers, hyper-relational knowledge graph (HKG) that generalizes triple-based knowledge graph (KG) has been attracting research attention recently. Compared with KG, HKG is enriched with the semantic qualifiers as well as the hyper-relational graph structure. However, to model HKG, existing studies mainly focus on either semantic information or structural information therein, which however fail to capture both simultaneously. To tackle this issue, in this paper, we generalize the hyperedge expansion in hypergraph learning and propose an equivalent transformation for HKG modeling, referred to as TransEQ. Specifically, the equivalent transformation transforms a HKG to a KG, which considers both semantic and structural characteristics. Then an encoder-decoder framework is developed to bridge the modeling research between KG and HKG. In the encoder part, KG-based graph neural networks are leveraged for structural modeling; while in the decoder part, various HKG-based scoring functions are exploited for semantic modeling. Especially, we design the sharing embedding mechanism in the encoder-decoder framework with semantic relatedness captured. We further theoretically prove that TransEQ preserves complete information in the equivalent transformation, and also achieves full expressivity. Finally, extensive experiments on three benchmarks demonstrate the superior performance of TransEQ in terms of both effectiveness and efficiency. On the largest benchmark WikiPeople, TransEQ significantly improves the state-of-the-art models by 15\% on MRR.

193. Energy-efficient Hybrid Model Predictive Trajectory Planning for Autonomous Electric Vehicles

Abstract: To tackle the twin challenges of limited battery life and lengthy charging durations in electric vehicles (EVs), this paper introduces an Energy-efficient Hybrid Model Predictive Planner (EHMPP), which employs an energy-saving optimization strategy. EHMPP focuses on refining the design of the motion planner to be seamlessly integrated with the existing automatic driving algorithms, without additional hardware. It has been validated through simulation experiments on the Prescan, CarSim, and Matlab platforms, demonstrating that it can increase passive recovery energy by 11.74\% and effectively track motor speed and acceleration at optimal power. Abstract: The dissociation of quarkonium states with different binding energies produced in heavy-ion collisions is a powerful probe for investigating the formation and properties of the quark-gluon plasma. The ratio of production cross-sections of $\psi(2S)$ and $J/\psi$ mesons times the ratio of their branching fractions into the dimuon final state is measured as a function of centrality using data collected by the LHCb detector in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV. 195. Time-to-reach Bounds for Verification of Dynamical Systems Using the Koopman Spectrum

Abstract: In this work, we present a novel Koopman spectrum-based reachability verification method for nonlinear systems. Contrary to conventional methods that focus on characterizing all potential states of a dynamical system over a presupposed time span, our approach seeks to verify the reachability by assessing the non-emptiness of estimated time-to-reach intervals without engaging in the explicit computation of reachable set. Based on the spectral analysis of the Koopman operator, we reformulate the problem of verifying existence of reachable trajectories into the problem of determining feasible time-to-reach bounds required for system reachability. By solving linear programming (LP) problems, our algorithm can effectively estimate all potential time intervals during which a dynamical system can enter (and exit) target sets from given initial sets over an unbounded time horizon. Finally, we demonstrate our method in challenging settings, such as verifying the reachability between non-convex or even disconnected sets, as well as backward reachability and multiple entries into target sets. Additionally, we validate its applicability in addressing real-world challenges and scalability to high-dimensional systems through case studies in verifying the reachability of the cart-pole and multi-agent consensus systems., Comment: This work has been submitted to the IEEE for possible publication

196. LBPE: Long-token-first Tokenization to Improve Large Language Models

Abstract: The prevalent use of Byte Pair Encoding (BPE) in Large Language Models (LLMs) facilitates robust handling of subword units and avoids issues of out-of-vocabulary words. Despite its success, a critical challenge persists: long tokens, rich in semantic information, have fewer occurrences in tokenized datasets compared to short tokens, which can result in imbalanced learning issue across different tokens. To address that, we propose LBPE, which prioritizes long tokens during the encoding process. LBPE generates tokens according to their reverse ranks of token length rather than their ranks in the vocabulary, granting longer tokens higher priority during the encoding process. Consequently, LBPE smooths the frequency differences between short and long tokens, and thus mitigates the learning imbalance. 197. A Quality-Centric Framework for Generic Deepfake Detection

Abstract: This paper addresses the generalization issue in deepfake detection by harnessing forgery quality in training data. Generally, the forgery quality of different deepfakes varies: some have easily recognizable forgery clues, while others are highly realistic. Existing works often train detectors on a mix of deepfakes with varying forgery qualities, potentially leading detectors to short-cut the easy-to-spot artifacts from low-quality forgery samples, thereby hurting generalization performance. To tackle this issue, we propose a novel quality-centric framework for generic deepfake detection, which is composed of a Quality Evaluator, a low-quality data enhancement module, and a learning pacing strategy that explicitly incorporates forgery quality into the training process. The framework is inspired by curriculum learning, which is designed to gradually enable the detector to learn more challenging deepfake samples, starting with easier samples and progressing to more realistic ones. We employ both static and dynamic assessments to assess the forgery quality, combining their scores to produce a final rating for each training sample. The rating score guides the selection of deepfake samples for training, with higher-rated samples having a higher probability of being chosen. Furthermore, we propose a novel frequency data augmentation method specifically designed for low-quality forgery samples, which helps to reduce obvious forgery traces and improve their overall realism. Extensive experiments show that our method can be applied in a plug-and-play manner and significantly enhance the generalization performance.

198. Distributed-Order Fractional Graph Operating Network

Abstract: We introduce the Distributed-order fRActional Graph Operating Network (DRAGON), a novel continuous Graph Neural Network (GNN) framework that incorporates distributed-order fractional calculus. Unlike traditional continuous GNNs that utilize integer-order or single fractional-order differential equations, DRAGON uses a learnable probability distribution over a range of real numbers for the derivative orders. By allowing a flexible and learnable superposition of multiple derivative orders, our framework captures complex graph feature updating dynamics beyond the reach of conventional models. We provide a comprehensive interpretation of our framework's capability to capture intricate dynamics through the lens of a non-Markovian graph random walk with node feature updating driven by an anomalous diffusion process over the graph. Furthermore, to highlight the versatility of the DRAGON framework, we conduct empirical evaluations across a range of graph learning tasks. The results consistently demonstrate superior performance when compared to traditional continuous GNN models. 199. Cancer-Net SCa-Synth: An Open Access Synthetically Generated 2D Skin Lesion Dataset for Skin Cancer Classification

Abstract: In the United States, skin cancer ranks as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, presenting a significant public health issue due to its high rates of occurrence and the risk of serious complications if not caught early. Recent advancements in dataset curation and deep learning have shown promise in quick and accurate detection of skin cancer. However, current open-source datasets have significant class imbalances which impedes the effectiveness of these deep learning models. In healthcare, generative artificial intelligence (AI) models have been employed to create synthetic data, addressing data imbalance in datasets by augmenting underrepresented classes and enhancing the overall quality and performance of machine learning models. In this paper, we build on top of previous work by leveraging new advancements in generative AI, notably Stable Diffusion and DreamBooth. We introduce Cancer-Net SCa-Synth, an open access synthetically generated 2D skin lesion dataset for skin cancer classification. Further analysis on the data effectiveness by comparing the ISIC 2020 test set performance for training with and without these synthetic images for a simple model highlights the benefits of leveraging synthetic data to improve performance. 200. CFPNet: Improving Lightweight ToF Depth Completion via Cross-zone Feature Propagation

Abstract: Depth completion using lightweight time-of-flight (ToF) depth sensors is attractive due to their low cost. However, lightweight ToF sensors usually have a limited field of view (FOV) compared with cameras. Thus, only pixels in the zone area of the image can be associated with depth signals. Previous methods fail to propagate depth features from the zone area to the outside-zone area effectively, thus suffering from degraded depth completion performance outside the zone. To this end, this paper proposes the CFPNet to achieve cross-zone feature propagation from the zone area to the outside-zone area with two novel modules. The first is a direct-attention-based propagation module (DAPM), which enforces direct cross-zone feature acquisition. The second is a large-kernel-based propagation module (LKPM), which realizes cross-zone feature propagation by utilizing convolution layers with kernel sizes up to 31. CFPNet achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) depth completion performance by combining these two modules properly, as verified by extensive experimental results on the ZJU-L5 dataset.
