Financial globalization is characterized as an aggregate concept designated to expand global connections through cross-border financial flows. This quantitative correlational study aimed to examine the relationship between instability from financial globalization and lack of profitability within financial institutions in countries Latin America and the Caribbean. The problem addressed was that instability from financial globalization resulted in the lack of profitability in developing countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The study extended the research literature to analyze the effect of financial globalization on economic instability and financial development and found a statistically significant relationship between financial globalization and profitability, economic instability, and financial development. The findings of the research study may be applicable to financial managers, bankers, and shareholders of financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"This three-article dissertation explores the geography of non-farm proprietorship (NFP) employment by U.S. County in 2016. NFP employment continues to be an important and emerging research area in the field of entrepreneurship. All three articles used data collected from the U.S. Census and Bureau of Economic Analysis and focused on identifying the key predictors that best explained why certain counties generated high shares of NFP employment. A stepwise regression analysis was conducted at three forms of county typologies; the 800 most populated counties in the U.S., 107 micropolitan counties, and 71 outlying metropolitan counties. All three articles supported the idea that the geography of entrepreneurship is unevenly distributed by county. In each regression analysis, it appeared that the employment composition of the local labor pool played a more powerful role in shaping the geography of NFP than more aggregate socio-economic metrics like per capita income, level of education or median household income. Key predictors included the share of the labor pool employed in real estate, rental and leasing (RRL) employment and construction employment which featured prominently in the final regression models in all three articles. RRL and construction employment may be a proxy for access to a particular type of capital for NFP workers that is tied to vibrant, growing land markets. The findings provide a disaggregated analysis at different county typologies that can help policymakers to better understand the key predictors that drive the local choices of entrepreneurs and help communities build more competitive local economies."--Abstract from author supplied metadata.

"Commission staff has determined the current decline in production and associated decrease in revenue, combined with transfers out of the Conservation Fee Fund, will result in a negative balance during ensuing fiscal years. This determination was based on several assumptions, primarily that oil and gas production would continue to decline by 6% each year and spending from the Conservation Fee Fund would remain at approved, essentially flat levels. Given these assumptions, staff determined it is necessary to increase the mill assessed per barrel of oil production and the mill assessed against one thousand cubic feet of gas (mcf). These increases are necessary to provide sufficient revenue to meet the budgeted $8.89 million revenue required to administer the statutory and regulatory obligations of the Conservation Division."
